What challenge were you trying to address with Xtreem Solution?

I was looking for an offshore company to develop an e-commerce website for the business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I gave them the requirements, and we emailed back and forth until they understood the project completely. I worked with a team of six developers. The site was built using open-source PHP and a SQL database.

We needed to be able to translate requests for quotes made on the frontend of the site into the backend and export them into a PDF. The backend wasn’t something where you could add an extension to make it work. They had to customize some special features to make that work. I was very happy with that functionality.

Once the e-commerce was live, Xtreem Solution assigned a dedicated resource to manage the site. We plan to also build a mobile app, and I anticipate that project to begin in the next 3–6 months. It’s basically an ongoing project with them.

How did you come to work with Xtreem Solution?

I looked at several freelance websites, and I vetted a couple of offshore companies. I came across Xtreem Solution and had numerous calls and emails with them. They had good reviews on the freelance sites. I looked at their portfolio and ensured that they had the capability to perform the work. I tried to understand the whole scope of the company and the way they performed work for US-based clients. I learned that they had done business with different companies in the US, and I decided to give their team an opportunity to handle our work.

We’ve invested in the range of $30,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September of 2016, and the relationship is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I was happy with their service. They have a big team, and they delivered the project on time. I don’t have any hard metrics, but I’m happy with the quality. I didn’t have to be very hands-on to do quality assurance [QA] since we didn’t have any major bugs. There are always small bugs with web development, but their QA team took care of them. Their team is experienced, so they knew what had to be done.

Our employees are very pleased with the whole development. The new functionality enables our sales team to integrate with QuickBooks, and it saves a lot of time. They’re all very happy with the new site.

How did Xtreem Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication of the project scope was good. I didn’t have any challenges. They asked a lot of questions to get a full understanding of the business. I was very happy with that. There’s a 13 or 14-hour time difference between us, so I had to stay up late to talk directly with them.

I was assigned a dedicated business person to handle direct communication. They also have a technical lead who would relay my requirements to the developers. They’re very professional in dealing with a US-based client like myself. I’m hard in certain areas, and when I assign a project, it has to be on time for the QA testing. They understood this, and sometimes they delivered before the deadlines. The project management on their end is very good.

What did you find most impressive about Xtreem Solution?

They have a very big team and can handle pretty much anything. They have a dedicated team just for app development. When I was shopping around for a partner, I was looking for the whole package, not just web development. Xtreem Solution offers full service, and I was very happy with that.

Are there any areas Xtreem Solution could improve?

No. There’s always room for improvement, but they handled the project well. There weren’t any challenges.

We provide a mobile application that connects people who want to share a car for the same destination. Our system draws two circumferences for the departure and destination points, and then connects people from one to the other.

What challenge were you trying to address with Xtreem Solution?

We needed help with the development of our application. We needed to obtain a 100% functional product.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Xtreem Solution developed our PHP web tool, while the application was made for Android and iOS. We worked with a six-person team from Xtreem Solution. We are using another company for marketing the software, and a local team in Mexico is responsible for testing.

How did you come to work with Xtreem Solution?

I researched around 80 companies, out of which I selected five or six for interviews. We discussed the development approach with each one, and I liked how Xtreem Solution described the project.

How much have you invested with Xtreem Solution?

The cost of Xtreem Solution's work has been above $50,000. The initial quote was $25,000, but we added more functionalities to the platform.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Xtreem Solution in May or June 2016. The original estimate was for five or six months, but we've added more modules, which extended it. We're within the final phase of development.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We've had a good relationship with Xtreem Solution. The team has worked hard, and we're happy with them. We've had to make a few fixes to the platform, but it is fully functional at this point.

How did Xtreem Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has been good. We've talked with Xtreem Solution's team daily during the week. I’ve mainly keep in touch with their project manager, but we also talk to the developers.

What did you find most impressive about Xtreem Solution?

Whenever we've had an issue which needed to be fixed, we set up meetings with Xtreem Solution. They have a good attitude and can provide solutions for every point.

Are there any areas Xtreem Solution could improve?

Xtreem Solution could implement more technical support resources. We are based in Mexico while they are in India. We've had issues to review and check during the day, and Xtreem Solution was not available during those hours. Other developers are able to provide support 24/7, and I have mentioned this to Xtreem Solution.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Two major brands in Ecuador and Colombia bought app licenses for their clients immediately after the launch. We are already partnering with them for their new car buyers.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was excellent. They were very responsive to and accommodating of our many requests to modify and adjust, even post-completion. This was extremely beneficial since our client was unsure of his scope of requirements.
