I am the owner of an online fashion label and we contacted Wolfpack Digital as we were working on a separate new project, a social connection app.

We wanted Wolfpack to help us create an iOS social connection app that catered to a distinct audience. An app that would create a safe and open space for people to connect in hopefully more meaningful ways based on interests, hobbies and personality type. Something that would have a clean and minimal aesthetic while being intuitive and fun to use.

What were your goals for this project?

We first wanted to create wireframes, user stories and work toward developing a usable mockup of the app for potential investors. Wolfpack provided very valuable feedback and suggestions on the app concept itself.

The app was to be produced from scratch including frontend, backend for admin and tutorial option for all new users. The final app was to include onboarding, payment service providers, a user database, subscription management & chat functionality including photos and audio.

How did you select this vendor?

After some research on app development companies we decided upon Eastern Europe as a good choice due to the high technical expertise in this area and lower costs compared to some Western countries.

After shortlisting a few companies we contacted about 5 companies and organised Skype interviews with all of them before deciding upon Wolfpack as they stood out from the rest.

They seemed to be the most open-minded, forward-thinking and seemed the best fit for us and the app we wanted to develop. The technical skill of their development team also was very impressive.

We initially had a skype call with Valentina in which we first talked through our concept of the app and what we wanted to achieve. Following on from that we exchanged many emails with both Valentina and Georgina (CEO of Wolfpack) while Wolfpack offered us assistance in developing the user stories and wireframes for our app.

Many new ideas and changes occurred in those first couple of months of communication. Once wireframes and user stories were ready, we then selected our screens ready to create a usable mockup of the app.

What was the team composition?

Our main point of contact was Valentina (Marketing Specialist, Wolfpack Digital). She was an absolute pleasure to work with and we always felt like we were speaking to a friend, not a company and she went above and beyond in assisting us throughout the process.

We also worked with Georgina (CEO, Wolfpack Digital) who also assisted us with wireframe development and quotes for the app and app mockup and who was also a delight to work with. The passion and professionalism from both Valentina and Georgina was very evident.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

From our initial contact with Wolfpack Digital, we came from having a very rough idea of our app and goals to creating in-depth user stories and wireframes within a couple of months.

Having no prior experience in creating wireframes ourselves, Wolfpack provided us with ample assistance and examples to make the entire process very straightforward.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The smooth and honest communication we had with both Valentina and Gina made things extremely easy the whole way through. We knew that if we had any questions or wanted to run new ideas by them, that Valentina would always be available via email or video call.

Communication was always very timely and they always gave us honest responses to anything we suggested, if an idea could be improved or might be better to hold off on until later, they would let us know and this honesty and transparency was very welcomed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We talked to quite a few promising companies before we decided to go with Wolfpack. Wolfpack stood out. Their development team was of some of the highest calibre but what impressed us the most was their ability to connect with us and our ideas on a deeper level.

In our communications we discussed not only the technical and functional details of our app but also the bigger idea and philosophy behind what we were trying to create. We always felt on the same page as Wolfpack, like we were working with friends that truly understood the bigger picture that was formed the foundation of our app. It was a mutual understanding that we didn’t find with other development companies.

We never felt they were on the other side of the world, we very much felt like we were working together as a team in all aspects, it always felt cohesive. We feel very lucky to have found Wolfpack Digital and cannot imagine finding a team we would rather work with.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly no, as they exceeded our expectations in so many ways.

I’m the CTO of FirstAgenda, a software startup. I’ve been with the company since our founding four years ago. We create meeting collaboration software intended to optimize meetings. Our software records and provides transcripts of meetings in order to help our clients improve them and stop wasting time.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wolfpack Digital?

We needed them to develop an Android app. We have in-house developers for our web app and iOS app, as well as APIs and cloud hosting, but we don’t have any Android developers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built our native Android app from the ground up using Java and Kotlin. They drew inspiration from our iOS app, but they didn’t use any existing code. We’d tested our iOS and web apps before beginning any Android development. Features included access to our APIs and an admin backend.

They worked with our in-house development team and they’ve been close to our project management.

What is the team composition?

We currently work with three people, but we worked with four in the past. My main point of contact is Adrian (CTO, Wolfpack Digital).

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

I received a reference from a former colleague who worked with them at a previous company.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in April 2017 and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Twenty percent of our users are using the Android app since its successful launch. It has performed brilliantly and we’ve seen no more errors than on other platforms. It’s functional and reliable.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated well. They responded to us rapidly, demonstrating their understanding of our business and any errors we might face. If we have something to change, they’ll change it.

All their developers are on our Slack, so I can contact them if needed. They’re always helpful and accessible. Their team is good at speaking and writing. They’ve also visited us a few times at our office, which gives us a different perspective, having met them in person.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to be a part of our company stands out. Our communication is their main insight into our domain. I like that we have easy access to their developers and we don’t have to go through a project manager to talk to them. They’re talented people.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have anything to complain about. We have discussed some minor things.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work with the same developers and project manager so they can understand your domain and your company. Our strategy working with people abroad is to make them part of our development team so that our communication remains close. We don’t just ask them for something and then wait 14 days to get a delivery.

Wolfpack Digital took over our development process from our in-house team, which wasn’t up to the task at the time. Wolfpack Digital was taking over a critical situation where we were in dire need.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wolfpack Digital developed the front- and backend of an iOS application. We use an agile development setup using tickets and Atlassian software. Wolfpack Digital adds new features using our existing roadmap. Key functionalities include rich media and video playback that can render on the fly and that we can add snippets to. They also implemented messaging, a payment service provider, and a user database for user management.

We have three developers, a project manager, and a QA person.

We kicked off the project in October 2018, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Wolfpack Digital delivered a full iOS platform—both frontend and backend—that is in closed beta. We haven’t launched yet for strategic reasons, but it’s otherwise ready to go. We’ve received positive feedback from alpha testing with users, and we’re happy with the quality.

It’s always a challenge to go from an in-house team to a nearshore development team, but Wolfpack Digital did a terrific job pulling off the transition. We pushed their team for a custom QA process that happened continuously throughout the development cycle, which worked well for us. 

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Wolfpack Digital provided a dedicated project manager that works alongside our in-house project manager. They interact to make sure that the team executes the right content on the correct specifications. It’s been a continuous process to find the best project management style. We used to involve the teams directly, but that resulted in many confused voices instead of a clear-cut message.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their transparency stands out most to us. Wolfpack Digital acts as our literal partners; we feel like we’re working alongside an in-house team. They’re open about what works and what doesn’t work, and they suggest approaches that may work better even if those methods cost less for us. We appreciate their honesty.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As a small agency, Wolfpack Digital may not have the skill set that clients need right away. However, they’re upfront about this, which allows clients to work around it, and they’re flexible about finding resources and trying new things that pay off.

Any advice for potential customers?

Be upfront at the very beginning. Don’t hold back information, even when you feel it’s sensitive. It will help you get the best result—it has for us.

We reached out to them to develop our software from start to finish.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed the software we needed for our business, working on four applications in total: two for Android and two for iOS, along with a backend admin dashboard.

I had a concept and vision for how we wanted the software to look, sketching up very rough drafts for each screen. That led into a Skype call with them, during which we spent two and a half hours making a wireframe with Georgina (CEO, Wolfpack Digital). She was very helpful and recommended a few changes.

We had weekly follow-ups after that every Friday, for 1–2 hours across three months. In between that, we went through changes over email.

What is the team composition?

We started with Georgina, who later assigned us to a project manager to build the application. He was easy to connect with and gave us some very good ideas, helping to put them in place. There were a couple of others in the background, with whom I spoke over email about payment plans and similar topics.

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

My partner had built a couple of applications in Ireland, but he’d never outsourced before. He had a friend who had used Wolfpack Digital, so we had an initial consultation and a quote, then went from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around €24,000 (approximately $27,000 USD) so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in October 2018, and the project’s ongoing. We’re getting to the final touches now.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Overall, the quality of the work is brilliant. My business partner was skeptical about outsourcing it initially, but he ended up having his current applications rebuilt by Wolfpack too.

We have beta versions of the apps, so we expect a couple of snags to arise. As with any project, we won’t know about those until the point of release, which will be in the next two weeks.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

I found them to be helpful, informative, and easy to contact, with a good turnaround rate. Overall, it’s been an enjoyable experience to work with Georgina and her team—I’ll definitely consider them for future projects. Georgina seemed to have a lot of experience; she was easy to talk to and had a great personality. We clicked from the very first session.

I just dealt with my project manager, so I couldn’t really comment about the rest of the team. If I had a question that needed answering quickly, I could get an answer within minutes over Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The price-to-quality ratio was brilliant. We got quotes for the same application in Ireland, and they were two to three times the price we ended up paying Wolfpack. The quality they delivered was on par with those other groups.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I haven’t had any negative experiences with them.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I advise clients to be in contact frequently. Georgina made an effort to come to Ireland and work with us.

We needed design and development help to build our platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wolfpack Digital provided general consulting, a bit of design work, and front- and backend platform development. They worked with an internal team while implementing many key features and drafting the initial design. The frontend uses Ember.js and Bootstrap while the backend runs on Ruby on Rails. They helped us with both an event tracking system and an anti-spam system, and not only proposed and implemented the latter but developed the logic behind it.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one designer and 3–4 developers. While the beginning of the project was more one-to-one, later on, Adrian (CTO, Wolfpack Digital) provided project management. 

How did you come to work with Wolfpack Digital?

Adrian and I had been acquaintances for a while, so I knew he had a web agency. When I started this project, I went to them. I knew they had talented people and assumed they’d be the right fit.

We worked together from 2016 until 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We wouldn't have gotten our business going without their help. They were attentive and available when we had inquiries and assisted me with whatever they could when I went to their place. We addressed all issues quickly and never argued. They were quick to jump in and help out. Our collaboration went well.

How did Wolfpack Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

There were no issues with project management. We either had face-to-face discussions with the developers or Adrian or used phone, email, and Slack. They responded promptly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their developers are passionate and always try to find the best possible solution. They were professional and didn’t stall the work or mark compromises to get something done. Wolfpack hires great people.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t. As time progressed, they got better and better at many things.

Go for it. I’ve sent people to them and haven’t received any negative feedback.

We've worked with Wolfpack on an ongoing basis in various ways. Their company supports us on projects related to web development and has provided long-term support for our iOS application.

Our iOS application was problematic in many ways, and we needed to make it functional.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We've worked with plenty of vendors in the past, but haven't found any partners that are as capable of delivering reliable, well-designed code at such a competitive rate. Many vendors have charged us triple the price of Wolfpack, and have delivered code that fell well below the mark, sometimes not even being usable at all. This has never been our experience with Wolfpack, and it's a huge part of the reason we continue to work with them and select them for every project.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

The iOS development project really was and is about long-term application maintenance and stability. They were given the task of taking a very large, poorly constructed, and poorly maintained application given to us by a third party and making it efficient, stable, and easy to maintain.

We worked primarily with just one engineer from Wolfpack.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Prior to this work, we had an application that crashed constantly, produced poor and unworkable content, and failed at mission-critical moments. We no longer have these issues, and our business is far better off now.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We work closely on managing the tasks together, but their company is incredibly organized and largely did the work for me. They primarily used Trello, but they worked on our own project management system—Asana—as well. Their engineer would sometimes work well beyond the scope of his normal day to address particular needs. His dedication to our project was compelling.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to understand our objectives and work as though they are a part of the team has always been the best selling point. Many developers, particularly third parties, require intensive instructions in order to get good work done, but that's never been the case with Wolfpack.

We managed to launch the app at the scheduled date and it received positive reviews right away.

They were always available when we had questions or needed to clear something up. They provided us with multiple options for technical and design choices, and the most importantly, they went out of their way to help us meet the project deadline.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We loved how Wolfpack was always flexible regarding our choices, even though we sometimes changed our minds at the last minute, which made it really hard for them to stick to our development schedule.

We really felt like Wolfpack was part of the team during the year that we worked together. We admire the way they engage themselves in every project, and go above and beyond to make sure the app is successful and delivered on time.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed all of our different product types (digital vs. physical) to be visible and for it to be easy to use.

How did you select this vendor?

We talked to several agencies but chose Wolfpack because of their flexibility and agility. Also, their young spirit fit our company’s style well.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

The project started with a kick-off meeting to mutually understand the goals. Wolfpack took over immediately afterwards and prepared wireframes. We then had several meetings to solve a UX problem in the wireframes. Wolfpack delivered great input and then transformed wireframes into designs. After locking the designs, Wolfpack started with development. We wanted the code delivered to us so we could handle reviewing it and launching the application. If we had asked though, Wolfpack would have been able to do these steps as well.

We worked with one designer and two to three developers on this project.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our bounce rate decreased and our users were really happy with the app.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used GitHub, Slack, Google Hangouts / appear.in, and Trello for managing the project and communicating with Wolfpack. Any time there was a misunderstanding or confusion, Wolfpack made sure to clarify everything. This was highly appreciated.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are passionate, professional, and agile people, who are very eager to make things work for their customers. We didn’t have much time to reach our targets, and working with Wolfpack allowed us to be more flexible when it came to resource planning, especially regarding staffing.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

I can’t think of anything. Anytime something didn’t work well for both sides, we looked at the process and tried to improve it immediately.

I am the CEO of Alcohol Delivery Platforms, Ltd. We launched a B2C alcohol delivery app called DropOff.

We needed someone to design, develop, and deploy our iOS and Android apps, and be available for maintenance and troubleshooting.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted someone to assist with our app launch as well as the inevitable after-launch problems.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

After some bad experiences, it was important to have either a technically knowledge project manager or be able to speak directly with the developers. Wolfpack Digital came highly recommended and we talked with them about the scope and the possibility of future collaboration. After we saw samples of their work, it was a simple decision.

Describe the project in detail.

We approached them with our idea and Wolfpack Digital gave us a cost per iteration one day later. They then developed wireframes and design concepts within a week. They provided over 25 variations of our logo based on the description we gave them. As we continued, they worked with us on additional features for the app. Now, we’re about to launch a new venture with them.

We had a dedicated project manager and a lead developer. We also worked with other developers and designers when we needed to.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We consistently get five star reviews on the App and Play stores and clients love the UX of our apps and website.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had an open channel of communication, so we could send an email about a bug or a new feature and expect a response acknowledging our message very quickly. This would be followed by a lengthier email about the solution and timeline for implementation. After the apps were launched, we could see updates in real time, so we didn’t need use a workflow tool, though they did use one internally. They’re not afraid to speak up if they feel that an element of the design or the UX is wrong, even if it’s what I asked for.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Everyone at Wolfpack is technically knowledgeable but also able to break things down in terms a non-expert can understand. They have seemingly unending patience for explaining how any why things work, and they genuinely enjoy coming up with innovative solutions. Their team was also remarkably consistent, so we didn’t have to waste time bringing new members or project managers up to speed.

The number of options their design team gave us was brilliant. It allowed us to test possible logos with customers and select the best one. They also provided accurate forecasts for the completion of new features, which is so important at a startup stage when one missed deadline has a domino effect.

I can’t think of any. We’re very happy with Wolfpack Digital and hope they can grow alongside us in the future.
