What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

You could measure many of these projects impact in terms of reduced time to produce invoices, improved data quality and ability to report, etc., and they were no doubt a success along those metrics, but the biggest success criteria for most of these initiatives for us was binary, we went from "unable to effectively do X, unsure exactly how we would accomplish this" to "able to effectively and efficiently do X."

They delivered initiatives on time and on budget. If additional effort above budget was going to be required or timelines were in jeaporady, we were informed proactively and decided on a course of action together (descope some initiatives, increase staffing). They were able to scale staffing and capabilities (i.e. developers with knowledge of X platform). They took tremendous pride in their work. Project management tools were largely emails, recurring and ad hoc check ins, and developer management tools -  these met our needs without being overly burdensome.

I was very impressed with the results they were able to deliver for the cost, and their ability to scale and have expertise in all relevant areas despite their size. We would have had to spend many times what we spent with them to hire all this breadth of development capabilities and experience in house at a comparable quality. They developed many creative, custom solutions that we weren't fully aware were possible at the outset, and saved us countless hours with the many efficiency tools they built.

Are there any areas for improvement or something WeGotCode.com could have done differently?

WeGotCode has been growing while we have worked with them over the past 3 years, and they have encountered the challenges that any business does while growing (i.e. founders working to hire and develop people to help take over subsets of responsibility). We've seen them grow effectively in this area as they've worked to scale the business. Quality has never suffered as a result (in part due to a phenomenal work ethic), and they're better positioned than ever to meet our needs.

Security was essential because we are dealing with businesses financial statements. No business could see any other business' data. Version 1 and 1.1 allow groups to compare a company's data against the group data (i.e. like a franchisee seeing his company's data in relationship to all companies in that franchise).

I came across a product that was simply too big to do by myself. I needed a team of developers to come on board and take on different aspects of the project to finish it in a reasonable time.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve provided WeGotCode.com with documentation and specifications. Using C# as the programming language, WeGetCode.com is developing an application that can enter data, update it, and retrieve it from a SQL Server 2019 database. Also, they interface with Active Directory for user authentication, and there’s a component for custom reporting

We work with Shannon (Founder), one of the partial owners, and one of their programmers.

How did you come to work with WeGotCode.com?

I discovered them while searching for development companies. They were the fourth company I interviewed. The first one was terrible. The second and third ones wanted to simply turnkey the solution, but I wanted someone to give input and work with me on development and design.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We present to the customer every Friday, and the feedback has always been positive. The demonstrations have gone really well. Moreover, the customer likes what they see and maintains a high level of excitement because they’ll get what they want at a reasonable price. From that standpoint, WeGotCode.com is doing a fantastic job.

So far, we’ve experienced minor bugs, but it’s expected in a project of this scope and size. In that sense, they’ve been absolutely fantastic at fixing those issues in a short time, sometimes even within the same day.

Additionally, the product functions exactly as intended. They’ve followed the documentation, and if something needs to be fixed, they do it.

How did WeGotCode.com perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done a great job at staying within deadlines and budget. There have been some budget overruns, but we’ve expected them because sometimes we don’t know what we’re getting into. Nonetheless, WeGotCode.com has done a fantastic job from a labor standpoint. They get things done, provide feedback, and ask questions if there are cost or timeline overruns.

We’re in constant communication. We use Team Foundation Server for project management and Slack almost daily. Also, we have standing meetings every Monday and Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. and a biweekly meeting with the customer on Fridays, which is the end of our sprint.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re easy to get along with and very professional. Also, they’re knowledgeable about their field — they know their framework and tools exceptionally well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s ridiculously nitpicky, but I prefer not using the keyword "var" and when it comes to "if" conditions, I prefer to always use curly braces for the statement line even if the statement line is only one line of code.  But this is all just personal preference.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Sit down, brainstorm, and write clear and concise documentation on what you’re looking for. They’ll go through it and ask you questions. We provided all the necessary information, including screenshots on how some things worked. It enabled them to simply fly through a lot of issues. Overall, providing documentation and attending meetings is your priority. If you do that, you’ll minimize your calls and maximize their output for an overall successful project.

We didn’t have the resources we needed for a mobile application project, so we partnered with WeGotCode.com to supplement our development team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Based on our web platform, they built an iOS and Android app that helps companies track and manage their fleets. We provided the requirements, then they analyzed what we wanted and asked questions. Once they signed off on the scope of the project, they began working through a standard outsource development process.

There were 5­–6 people, including a project manager, developers, and a UI designer.

They’re relatively local. Their central office is close to our headquarters so I had met the founder of WeGotCode.com through networking.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in the summer of last year around June 2020 and they wrapped up the first phase in March 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’ve worked with many outsource development firms over the years, and they’re the best I’ve worked with. We’re conducting QA testing and are happy with their work. Over time, we will measure the project’s success based on customer validation and uptake. Now we plan to move into a second project with them.

How did WeGotCode.com perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very communicative. We meet with their technical team weekly on Zoom to review their work and walk through demos. We also meet with them periodically whenever they have questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They feel like a part of our team, which can be a challenge when working with an external group. Still, WeGotCode.com was good at collaborating and adapting as needed. At one point, we fell behind on our side of things. When that happened, they started working on another task to keep the project moving forward.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any recommendations for them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared and compile all of your requirements at the beginning of the project. As with any partner, it will be difficult for them to deliver what you want if you can’t communicate it.

The goal was to replicate the data captured in our mobile app into our clients Quickbase instance. We later needed the application to replicate to multiple instances.

We were given a short timeline to meet the clients request of data replication prior to their next major deployment. My team looked for developers on both UpWork and Linkedin where we engaged with WeGotCode

After the initial contact via linked in, we scheduled phone interview to discuss capabilities and overview of the potential project. I then met with then client again to finalize data replication requirements, followed by another meeting with WeGotCode.

During the discovery session, we examined our database, the clients Quickbase instance, and talked solutions. We received a SOW the next morning, and work was completed within a week once signed.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The successful completion of the replication project, has allowed us to offer our clients something that other tools not the market down. We now provide data collected in real time to our clients, which has brought in more business.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Shannon was extremely communicative throughout the process, keeping me updated on development status throughout the process. He managed the schedule extremely well, allowing us to meet our deadline. WeGotCode was there to offer support after deploying the new system, checking in to make sure things were running as expected.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I most impressed with the level of knowledge, and being well prepared with information for every meeting. I was amazed by the level of support we received during and after the project.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There were no failure points in any of our projects, the only downside would be pricing. Pricing can be a bit expensive for small start ups, but my team has quickly learned that quality costs. we have never had a issue with any of the work completed by WeGotCode

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WeGotCode.com built a custom, robust solution connecting NetSuite to our Azure analytics platform so that we could pull transactions and data from NetSuite in an accurate and timely way. The solution involves custom scripts and APIs to facilitate the movement of data from Netsuite to Azure. 

What is the team composition?

We have 2–3 people from their team working on this project.

How did you come to work with WeGotCode.com?

We work with a private equity firm and several of their portfolio companies. We were brought on when one of these companies experienced a failed analytics implementation. The company had actually hired WeGotCode.com to build the integration, but in reviewing WeGotCode.com’s work, we realized they were extremely competent; the other partner, an incumbent analytics company, had been the problem. We elected to retain WeGotCode.com’s services and give them more work.

The success of their work is based on whether the solution is capturing all relevant transactions in a timely fashion. We track that every day, and it’s been perfect. 

How did WeGotCode.com perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done very well on their side. They co-manage the project with us, and Shannon (Founder, WeGotCode.com) leads their work from a project management standpoint. He does well with all of the soft skills surrounding the project; he’s really good in front of clients as far as estimates, tracking, and work details. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

A custom integration is very technical, and I’ve found that it’s difficult to find a provider who can both develop the solution and be a good communicator. What I really like about WeGotCode.com is that they’re good communicators with business acumen. We’ve gotten a good sense and understanding of what they’re building and how it works. It was obvious from the moment we were introduced that they were a rare blend, and I’ve really liked working with them ever since.

WeGotCode.com takes ownership of the solution, meaning they develop, test, and own it from their standpoint. A lot of times, you’ll get a company that just develops the solution and then expects the client to test and validate it, but that’s not really owning it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I haven’t been exposed to some of their other offerings. If I were them, I’d be thinking about how to scale and what other solutions to get into. However, the work they’ve done for us and the length of time it’s taken them has been really good, so I don’t have any improvement suggestions.

Any advice for potential customers?

I think they have a lot of relatable experience from the other work they’ve done. I’d recommend getting them involved in business requirements right away. When I need help finding a client solution, Shannon always has a relatable story. They provide valuable information that helps guide the right technical solution for the client. I think that oftentimes, people have the notion that they should figure out the business requirements and then bring in a customer integration provider after the fact, but that is a mistake. Get WeGotCode.com involved in the business aspect of the solution early.

The platform allows employees to track and record monthly transactions relating to properties, holding individuals accountable for following up with their clients as needed. It essentially eliminates previously manual processes and expands the amount of information they're able to record.

They've performed very well thus far. I can trust them to speak directly to our client because they're very professional and knowledgeable. They're also good at managing their time and keeping us up to date on their progress during regularly held meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

WeGotCode's work hits the mark on the first try without requiring as many iterations as other developers I've worked with.

They could work on being less technical when presenting information to clients.

Follow their schedule, working in lots of time to collaborate and hold discussions as often as possible throughout the project.
