What challenge were you trying to address with WebXd?

We wanted to launch a new website. We had a WordPress website that was pretty well designed and reasonably implemented by a previous agency. However, there were some execution problems, and the relationship with them wore out. We decided to take the design and the work that had been done up to that point and get it across the finish line ourselves. We contacted WebXd to help us with this challenge.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebXd took over our site and helped us tackle a list of around 10 aspects that needed to be either fixed or added to it. They worked on Elementor.

What is the team composition?

I had one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with WebXd?

I did a lot of local searches for web developers, and I believe I found WebXd through Clutch. I also found in Upwork some of the work my main point of contact had done as a freelancer and saw WebXd projects in their portfolio.

When I reached out to them, WebXd was highly energetic and looked like they would be able to execute the project with a reasonable effort. They were committed to customer service as well.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent close to $2,000–$3,000 including the cost of recent updates.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–February 2021. We contacted WebXd in January and they executed their work within a couple of weeks during February. We didn’t launch the site until April 2021, but that was based on some internal decisions rather than technical difficulties or their ability to execute the project.

We’re now considering them for larger projects in the future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

WebXd completed everything that was scheduled on time and with excellent customer service. They were extremely approachable and available. Whenever anything was going on, I could call them or text them. They kept us updated throughout the whole process, which was fantastic and a nice change compared to our previous vendor.

From the results side. WebXd always completed all the work in fewer hours than I had expected. They were great to work with as we started to learn about each other.

Generally speaking, WebXd offered immediate turnaround times and great access to their development team. They demonstrated a can-do attitude instead of just giving excuses and explanations, which is a much better way to work with developers.

How did WebXd perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated through texts and emails. As we engage on larger projects, I’d like to see them use additional project management tools. However, given the scope for this project, it would have been overkill.

What did you find most impressive about them?

WebXd's most impressive asset was their overall customer service and responsiveness. I spent many hours on the phone with them over many different conversations, and I didn’t even get billed for that.

WebXd's willingness to work to our demands without arguing with us about it was also impressive. I instructed them to help me with different technical assets as needed, and I know that creating them separately would have cost more than what we got charged for working on an hourly basis with them. They contributed with what they could and were very communicative.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there is anything WebXd could improve on. We’re starting to talk about a new, larger project, and I need to make sure that they’re comfortable working with larger teams. I’m looking to bring in additional freelancers and a support team, so I’m looking forward to seeing how they will work with larger teams of technical contributors.

Web Xd did a quick and accurate preliminary assessment, correctly predicted the source of the problems, and initiated contact with the web hosting company.

I observed that Web Xd's communications with the hosting company, and noted that Web Xd drove the solutions based on technical knowledge and effective communications.

Web Xd understood the details of the web hosting company's systems as well as their internal technicians.

Our website hasn’t been updated in five years. It was running an old version of WordPress, and it was getting attacked by malware and experiencing negative SEO effects. We were also in the process of changing addresses, so we needed someone to provide updates on our website and across all our business directories.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebDevXd updated our entire website and provide us with SEO services.

They updated and applied plugins and themes for our site. They fixed the pages, titles, and meta descriptions and updated our photos. For the SEO part, they updated our online citations and our presence in online business directories.

They basically took over everything for me, including our social media. I left that aspect to Stephanie (Owner), and she would update and recommend me things I need to do for our online presence.

I know there are four people but I only worked closely with Stephanie.

I get weekly updates from my Google My Business account, and our business profile has been getting a lot of views. People have also been calling for appointments constantly every day — this has never happened before. And since salons are closed in California right now, we can’t accommodate them.

How did WebDevXd perform from a project management standpoint?

Stephanie exceeds from a project management standpoint. She’s available 24/7, she meets every deadline, and just goes above and beyond with her service. We’ve worked with a couple of SEO agencies in the past that have overcharged us. Stephanie finds a way to work within my budget and is just on all the time and gets into it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would say her outstanding service that she carries 100%. She’s really invested in my business growing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t. I’ve never had anyone get back to me ahead of schedule and on time. Stephanie has been awesome.

If most businesses are like me and they aren’t really familiar with SEO and the backend work, I would just say to go with what Stephanie tells you. I trust her and I’ve had such good results with her.

WebDevXd always demonstrated clear communications, extreme knowledge of the platform and attention to detail.

Creating a detailed estimate that was easy to understand. Followed up on each milestone. Gave them WebDevXd a brochure, and pictures of the internal office space. Through research of each product WebDevXd develop a unique informative website. WebDevXd was extremely responsive to all questions and delivered exactly when they said they would. Suggestions for SEO, GoDaddy, WordPress and all social media were well informed and therefore approved since they were inline with goals of the website.

The client was so happy that it captured the essence of their personality and making it easy for web viewers to be able to make a decision on what service and product they want.

Stephanie's style is an obvious strong work ethic the moment of first interaction. She's always responsive through email, text or calls, informative of all platforms, clear communications of what and when milestones would be delivered, knowledgeable and professional.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was most impressed with how easy and smooth she made the project flow from beginning to end. She definitely delivered the whole package so I felt reassured not to have to worry about any part of the project.

Essentially no. The whole thing went smoothly. I hope to have even more projects for WebDevXd to work on.

I’d created the frontend and the look I wanted, but WebDevXd did the backend for me. They also customized the boxes and template in the backend, which I didn’t know how to do. Their work on the site is mostly on the backend: helping choose a hosting company. The website was partially live when they came on. Adobe was in the process of getting rid of the software program the site was using and I had no idea how to transfer to the new company while saving the files and backing everything up. I gave them the password to the website and they seamlessly transferred everything. They ended up creating a more robust site and updating it. It was all very smooth.

They’ve also worked on a number of other WordPress websites for me.

I once got an error message on one of my sites at four in the morning, and I freaked out because I didn’t know what the consequences would be. It was the middle of the workweek, too. I texted Stephanie immediately so she would see it in the morning but she was actually available right away and looked into it. I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of them. They maintain great up-time for me.

How did WebDevXd perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve had a number of projects that were nightmares because I didn’t know how to fix something or the other developer didn’t know how. In those instances, WebDevXd responds to my inquiries very quickly and explains how to fix them in a manageable way. It’s like we figure things out together.

Their responsiveness stands out. Stephanie is always helpful and moves the project along.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could hire more people like Stephanie, but that’s it. When COVID-19 hit, there was a time when she was extremely busy but she was still quick to respond and come up with a solution I could implement myself. Since then, she’s hired more people to help out.

Know what you want so that the project goes quickly. If you have an outline or a look you want for your website, then Stephanie can make it happen even quicker. Give her all the information and let her provide advice from there. The project will go seamlessly.

This is the first company that I’ve worked with where I was actually impressed with the ideas they came up with. I liked their take on the logo designs, the styles, and the spacing to make it more appealing. It felt like a partnership rather than me hiring someone to do a specific task.

What challenge were you trying to address with WebDevXd?

Our website was 5–6 years old and hadn’t been updated at all during that time. It was looking dated, simple, and not user-friendly. We needed to refresh our content, improve its user-friendliness, and write better code for SEO.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I provided the content. WebDevXd then totally redesigned my website and presented to me. They built some new scrolling, embedded new photos, and added new projects. They also categorized our projects by industry so that it’s easier to point and click what you want to see. After I made changes, they implemented them, and it went up the same day.

I do government and commercial projects, so full-service SEO was not important to me. However, I still wanted the site code to be SEO friendly. They understood that and didn’t go beyond what I wanted.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Once I launched the site, I got good feedback from customers and vendors. I don’t track any metrics because the site’s not essential to my business. I do well without it.

How did WebDevXd perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve done three other sites in the last 10 years from different businesses. WebDevXd led the easiest development process I ever had to deal with.

Typically, there are 3–4 revisions, and it’s been hard to hone in on what I want. With WebDevXd, the first version they presented to me was dead-on. The design was even better than I really thought of. I still made tweaks, but they really took it to the next level.

Their revisions also went quicker than I expected. Once I reviewed it and sent it back with changes within a few days, they implemented my requests the same day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

WebDevXd knew the look and feel of what the market is looking for today. I look around at different sites and see some similarities in what I have.

Are there any areas they could improve?

That’s tough to answer because I don’t know what I don’t know. I can’t really think of anything offhand that they could’ve done better. Everything was right: the price, the speed, everything. I’m very happy with it.

Any advice for potential customers?

Have your content squared away when you meet with a company like theirs. The better your content, the better the material they have to work with to create your vision. I think that’s what set me up for disappointment with past vendors. This time, I knew exactly what I wanted: the message, the body, about me section, pictures, everything.

I’m getting calls from people who have gone to my website, which shows me that WebDevXd’s work is effective. People are calling because they’ve seen our website, which is excellent. The video blog has helped me rise in the rankings.

They are completely responsive, which is the greatest thing. For example, I was called to give a presentation for real estate agents, so I needed a page added to my website to show the services we could offer them. They got it posted in time for the meeting, which shows how responsive they are.

They have a good eye for design to make a very clean, informative, appealing website. They keep it simple but still include lots of important information.

No, I’m satisfied with them.

With any provider, you should figure out what you really want your website to do. Decide how much time and energy you want to put into it, whether you’re working with a company or on your own. WebDevXd is great to work with in that way and guiding me toward what we need to accomplish.
