I was looking for a reliable, experienced animator that is easy to communicate with. This vendor ticks all those boxes.

After an initial discussion about the workflow of the project, I sent over the assets that are relevant for the animator to review and determine the duration and cost. Once we are settled on this, we began on the work.

There were a lot of back and forth and the project went smoothly because of the animator's professionalism and competency. All in all, it was a very good experience and I would recommend it.

In total, I worked with one person and she is a freelance motion graphics animator.

It was a success in regards to what was expected and still currently in progress.

Even though there is a time difference, which lead to a bit of a late reply sometimes, it still worked out in the end as the animator worked at a very impressive rate.

We started with email to discuss the scope of the project. Once the project kicked off, we used slack and frame.io to communicate smoothly.

They were widely experienced with all the formats of video. They provided great value for money through their quick turnaround time and great customer support. And it was pretty challenging to convert a hand-recorded video into a professional video, but they pulled it very nicely.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We used vectors and icons in the video. If their color could be matched with our theme, that would be great.

I'm a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering(IEEE), a scientific organization. IEEE publishes papers from top scientists and we have several journals. I am an editor for the online content that we produce.

Each year we ask the scientists to send us their best papers so that we could produce videos for those papers. We then contacted webdew to help us do the videos related to those papers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

This is a collaborative effort because we provide the concept and webdew just executes it for us. We provide their team with the information that they require such as PowerPoint presentations or a recorded voice of the author. Based on the materials we send them, they narrate, edit, and produce a video. They bring their own equipment during production.

They’ve created six animated videos, which are related to technical papers that have been published by top scientists. We post their videos on our YouTube channel to be viewed by other scientists around the world.

In my group, I have only interacted with their service manager.

I had no idea how they were hired by the organization. I was simply instructed by IEEE that webdew is the person to do our videos.

webdew has been excellent. Our audience loves the videos they’ve created and people often tell us that the videos are perfect.

How did webdew perform from a product management standpoint?

They always meet our deadlines, and they always stick to our schedule. Whenever we send them content for a video, they always submit their output the next day.

In addition, they’re very patient. When they produce videos, we immediately relay the feedback from our authors, and we have a lot of back and forth in between that. We communicate and send files to each other through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very professional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

So far, I don't see anything they can improve.

Make sure that you provide them with whatever information they need on time and the content you want to be featured in the video.

We were looking for an easy, clean and simple to follow animated video that highlighted who we are, who we help and what we do to help. We were looking for a three-minute video that we can use at an industry conference for lead generation and which can be repurposed through socials and other media after the conference.

We reviewed several vendors on Upwork but the catalogue on display from webdew was very impressive and stood out from the rest. We got in touch and were immediately impressed with the clear communication and explanation of the process. This was our first time using Upwork and for getting a video created so we needed a vendor that could simplify the process. We found this with webdew and they immediately gave us the confidence to proceed.

We had an initial discovery meeting so that they could understand our goals, our business and talk us through the process. A script was produced, followed by a storyboard and the offering of different voice talents. At each stage we were offered a round of revisions which was helpful. We were then presented with the finished video which exceeded our expectations.

We worked with Chehak who was our point of contact and extremely helpful in communicating what was needed and by when. This kept the project on track. We were very impressed with the continuous feedback.

We have not yet released the video to the public as we are using it in a tradeshow next month so we want to keep it fresh for then. However, all internal stakeholders love the video and we are in the process of commissioning more.

Most communication was via messenger on Upwork but we also had a zoom call at the start of the project. At each stage we were presented with an online version that we could add notes too, such as the storyboard.

I think the openness and clear communication was fantastic. We never felt that the project was slipping or that they would be any issues at all.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not that I can think of. We were honestly really impressed and look forward to doing more work with them this year.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I selected Chehak on Upwork. The deciding factors were the quality of her showreels, and the way that she was able to send me exact references of what she was after that she had worked on before.

As a producer I supplied Chehak with a script, a guide voice over and some music. Chehak sourced assets to match the script, I made some suggestions as well, and then one of the things I was impressed by was how Chehak found better assets after seeing some of the assets that I supplied. This is always a great comfort to know that the creator is totally understanding what you are wanting to achieve, and is passionate about the result being the best it can. Once all the assets were in place, Chehak created the edit.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked with Chehak, who was best practice with regards to feedback. Once again, I felt she was committed to understanding my feedback, and perfecting the result. In particular, the topic is not an easy one to demonstrate, being 3D - augmented, mixed and virtual reality, and how our platform allows a brand to do all 3. Chehak understood exactly how we wanted it to be portrayed, and went about delivering it, which is one of the things I am most impressed by.

Not yet, as we have not published. However, internal feedback is great.

World class best practices. They were on time, efficient, understood the brief, and shared the information I needed to know to approve.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There are 2 things I was impressed by - First, the interpretation of the brief, as it was challenging due to how hard it can be to demonstrate XR in a 2D format. Second, the way my feedback was handled - it was not an easy one, and Chehak went above and beyond to portray 3D exactly as was needed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, we are extremely happy and look forward to working with Chehak again, and highly recommend her.

The video was based on a script created by me and followed spot on by Webdew, in creating the storyboard. Then the storyboard was refined and at the end the animation was produced. Webdew followed all the steps with preciseness and expert competence.

I worked with Chehak. For the feedback, Chehak would require my thoughts on her creations and she was also very eager to come on a one-on-one live meeting. It was simply a seamless process, I wouldn't have thought about it in a better way than the one executed by Chehak.

The project delivered was exactly what I had in mind. Webdew managed to lead the production to the desired result, in part by following her instinct about what I truly wanted.

The project was delivered in the specified time-frame. The communication tools were the one provided by upwork (messages, file-attachements) and Zoom meetings.

In stark contrast to other experiences that I had in the past, Webdew was very eager to communicate one-on-one. Moreover, the team understands every concern and proactively solves them.

That can be proved by the fact that from the storyboard to the actual animation and final product I didn't have to make any alterations at all. As if she was in my mind!

No, the experience was just great!

The animation video I wanted to develop required the meshing of a number of moving parts, including songwriting, music (jingle), quality sound engineering and multiple Voice Over talents.

Being that I used to be a Creative Director in a NYC based advertising agency, I had a very clear vision of what my explainer animation video should look like and had very detailed and exacting requirements to ensure that the final animation is flawlessly executed during both pre-production and post-production stages.

Because of my very detailed and exacting requirements for this animation, I kept making edits, mostly minor and others not so minor during production and this resulted in the completion date stretching a little. However, during the project, I find Chehak to be courteous, understanding, and helpful and has delivered the revisions until we got it right.

Webdew uses the tool Frame.io for cataloging client's comments and edit requests and this tool was absolutely terrific in communicating my edit requests to Chehak and her team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Hands down Chehak's desire to ensure complete customer satisfaction(!), even when the customer is as finicky and detailed oriented as I was and am...lol!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, I cannot think of any...these guys are real professionals and the quality of my finished animation video is testament to their professionalism and their desire to deliver a superior quality product to their customers. Not once did Chehak exhibit any exasperation towards me during the countless edits that I requested. Very, Very Impressive!

The animators should not take things literally when using graphics. Also, they should really research first before using an image of a person they've googled because they sometimes don't match whoever should be put in the video.

Chehak took the time to craft individual design elements, drawing from inspiration that we shared with her, and even went to the extent to help us splice audio files for the animation voiceover. She truly went above and beyond with this project.

It would have been nice to have a video chat to discuss the project face to face, however I understand that that isn't always possible.
