I am the CEO of Raven Spatial, a company that specializes in collecting crowdsourced drone and smartphone imagery on-demand for investors in the real estate space.

We hired Vivid Motion to design the company website (Raven Spatial) as well as the UI/UX for our drone pilot app, paypixl.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal of the project was to procure a clean and interactive design that provided customers and users in our crowd the best user experience that we could in the Minimum Viable Product.

Vivid Motion was recommended by a trusted friend who is also a senior software engineer. They worked together in the past and it was relayed that Vivid Motion would be the perfect fit for what we needed.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The website for Raven Spatial was designed to be an informational landing page for our company and product overview. We have a slightly difficult time relaying what it is that we do exactly, and the best way to relay that is through graphics and visuals.

For this, we asked Adrian from Vivid Motion to help us develop a story and a way to convey our message through the website in a way that was slightly interactive. We were very happy with the result of the website. The UI/UX for our mobile app is still in progress. This has been a difficult build for us, as the requirements have been continuously changing on my end.

Adrian from Vivid Motion has been stellar about catering to our needs and has been willing to communicate through the changes, even offering his expert opinion to help us select a go-forward strategy.

We were a small team comprised of me (Founder/ CEO) our developer, and Adrian from Vivid motion serving as the go-between for the two companies.

Adrian has been super communicative and has provided us with far more value than we anticipated when we agreed to purchase their services. Because of this, we have become a loyal customer and will continue to use Vivid Motion throughout the life of our company, and will continue to recommend them to our friends and cohort founders who are also looking for a high-quality UI/UX design team.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I established a roadmap with deliverable milestones and estimated deadlines with Adrian and his team. We had a couple of discovery calls to determine what it was that we were looking for, and I sent over some early mock-ups of what I was trying to build (they were ugly, as design is not my forté).

Adrian took his notes and my mocks back to his team, who provided a rough sketch of what they were thinking. We went back and forth on a few things and gave the go-ahead to execute on their design. The mobile app UI/UX has been very much the same process as the website, but continues to be a work in progress as we make some changes on my end to produce our minimum viable product.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Aside from the high-quality of their UI/UX deliverable, the communication with the Vivid Motion team has been second to none. We couldn't be happier with the process and with their quality of work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

My team was the amateurs going into this transaction. We needed help to figure out exactly what we needed. Adrian and his team were able to design what we wanted in a way that exceeded our expectations. You can't ask for more than that. If there is any room for improvement, it is on part of me and my team. I am convinced that the more we work with Adrian, the better we will become.

They handled HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress development. Our company delivered designs, specifications, and requirements to them. From there, they built them into the site.

My primary point of contact was Adrian (Founder). He had other developers working on the projects, but I never interacted with them.

How did you come to work with Vivid Motion?

I found them on a design-based Slack community and reached out. After engaging them in initial conversions about their services and costs, we decided to work with them.  

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $5,000 on our first project together. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2019, and our initial project wrapped up in February 2020.

Their quality and attention to detail in their alpha builds is definitely higher than most.  

How did Vivid Motion perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a Slack channel that serves as a direct line of communication. My company also set up a Trello board to maintain tickets and design-related tasks. I speak with Adrian over Slack or email on a daily basis.

They’ve been good about updating the Trello board and letting me know when there’s a new build for me to see how the project is shaping up.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their spirit of collaboration and partnership definitely keep me working with them. The team is always willing to be accommodating, pushing us toward an optimal solution. Communication has never been siloed or infrequent.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

The last 10% of their QA process takes a bit longer than I’d like. However, I’m happy with the quality of their output.

The more documentation and clarity you deliver, the better the result will be.

We initially started talking on Slack about different services and ideas of working together, this project was a great start to get us moving forward. Their portfolio of design work captured my attention and seeing this functioning I knew they could deliver great results.

The team handled the development, taking our designers source files and turning these into key templates. The team then integrated this within WordPress so that myself and our clients can update key areas of the site. At each step of the way the team kept us updated and included with any decisions that needed to be made.

The team provided us development links early on so we could see the progress, allowing for easy feedback and progression. Once the site was completed a CMS doc was supplied on how to use key areas, great idea! This saved me time in the process reviewing and providing feedback while also freeing up time with my client.

Adrian managed the project extremely well with his team, from the initial scoping through to completion it's been a simple process that I'd like to emulate for my own business.

The attention to detail from the team is super and their over and above effort they goto with service, they've been a pleasure to work with and are incredibly reliable in getting stuff done to tight deadlines and crazy change requests that have been accommodated.

I'm a Post-Production Supervisor for an IoT company that produces in-house video content for all products.

For what projects/services did your company hire Vivid Motion, and what were your goals?

We wanted to put together a commercial that would introduce our company along with the accompanying brands and products. This video was showcased at our CES 2022 exhibit. Vivid Motion created various 3D assets to be implemented in the commercial.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We looked for an agency that would specialize in 3D renderings and animation in high-end programs such as Cinema4D. After looking into different companies, we felt like Vivid Motion would be a good fit based on their portfolio and availability.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We began with a kick-off meeting to determine the overall visual direction and deliverables being requested. We walked through each shot and the specific treatment we wanted.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with them using email and Teams to provide feedback throughout the process. We provided documents such as storyboards and branding guidelines and they were able to implement these things into the final product. The revision process was great and our feedback was implemented.

The final product was well received both internally and externally at the tradeshow this was presented at. Everyone loved how the 3D assets turned out.

The communication was strong throughout the project's lifespan. Adrian provided daily updates and set up meetings whenever there were questions or feedback that we needed to discuss. He was always made it a priority that we nailed the design treatment at the same time meeting the deadline we provided.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Everyone on the team is very talented and that can be seen in the deliverables. It's clear that the team is passionate about what they do and strives for the satisfaction of their clients. I appreciated them taking the time to listen and get to know our goals at the beginning of the process. They had a clear understanding of the expectations and if they were not sure about something they always reached out to make sure what they were doing was aligned with our goals and company values.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They ran into some technical challenges in the end as the final deliverables were being rendered which caused a slight delay for us. I'd suggest strategizing the overall efficiency of working with video assets and ensuring the render times are anticipated beforehand. Otherwise, they did a fantastic job with everything and we appreciate all of their hard work!
