I was impressed with the talent level for each of the roles, including design, front-end, back-end, and Python/data flows. Are there any areas for improvement or something Uptech could have done differently? In general, Uptech is a great partner and did an amazing job. A few small areas for improvement are: We had a front-end developer who didn't work out for the project and Uptech replaced them. However, it did take some time to realize they weren't working out and that cost us some wasted effort and cost. If there is a way to start developers in more of a trial period, that would have made this better. This is minor and not expected, but the team didn't seem to have much prior experience with marketing SaaS products, which is totally fine. But if they did, that may have helped speed things up as sometimes gaps in requirements could be filled in by the team.

Executive, Group Trip Planning Platform

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Nov 30, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The app is successfully gaining followers, and users praise its high-quality design, performance, UX, and user flow. Uptech delivers on time, communicates effectively, and stays on top of tasks through Notion and Jira. They’re also responsive to feedback and have become true partners for the client.
"“They’re very organized and transparent.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m an executive at a startup. We’re developing a mobile app for group trip planning, such as skiing trips or bachelor parties. Sometimes, people need to get a large group to agree on dates, destinations, where to stay, and activities. The app helps groups make those decisions and functions as a social stage to share photos and posts.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We hired them for mobile app development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech has developed our mobile app’s code from scratch, including the infrastructure and architecture. The app is only for iOS, so they’ve likely used Swift to build it.

Initially, I provided them with extensive qualitative documentation, including rough wireframes and what the UX should be, though without technical details. We worked collaboratively with the Uptech team on refining that information into final designs and details of the user flow and specific features.

Currently, I’m running with the current iteration of the app, and after we bring in more users, I’ll bring Uptech back on to keep working on it.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with a large team from Uptech, including a project manager, an account manager, a technical architecture engineer, two frontend engineers, and two backend engineers.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I found Uptech through online research and chose them because I liked their price point in comparison to the quality they could provide. During our initial discussions, I had a rough idea, and they talked very specifically about their thoughts and provided a lot of good input.

Overall, Uptech had a good timeline, quality, and price combination and was very thoughtful about what I needed and how they could best help me get there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2022, and although development is paused now, the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve launched the app on the App Store, and it’s been gaining users successfully. Users like the app’s high-quality design, performance, look and feel, UX, and user flow.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is great; they deliver items on time. Our project manager is super communicative and on top of everything, and they keep me in the loop. If we need to prioritize certain tasks, Uptech adjusts.

As for tools, we primarily use Slack, though they hop on a Google Meet call with us as needed. Occasionally, we also use email. Notion is our centralized tool for documentation, and Jira is for project management. This way, we can always check on their progress without needing to contact the project manager. Overall, they’re very organized and transparent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Uptech has become part of our team instead of only doing what we say quickly to hit requirements, get out the door, and book more hours. They’re true partners and care about the final quality of the app, which bled through to every aspect of our engagement. For example, they might spend extra time on designs or iterations if we need it.

Moreover, they’re very responsive to feedback and super communicative. Their work is high-quality throughout.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If anything, they’re not the cheapest option. However, we get what we pay for, and their value add is a great bargain for the cost.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared to provide a lot of input and partner with the team to maximize the quality; Uptech is willing to hear your input, adjust, and spend extra time on a task. Therefore, it’s worth it for you to collaborate closely with them. Although they could do a good job by themselves, giving them your input will help get the product to a perfect level.

**The Review** — May 16, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The client is satisfied by Uptech’s efficiency and fast-paced work, as well as with the quality of their designs. The team is very organized and experienced, and they do a great job at coming up with innovative ideas. Additionally, they take feedback well and implement it as requested.
"“Uptech’s main differentiator is their organization and the quality of their UI designs.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the product strategy manager for a human capital management company. We provide payroll and HR services, and I’m responsible for everything payment-oriented within the organization. Additionally, I manage our compliance-oriented products.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We wanted to launch a new banking app for our consumers. Initially, our target was our clients' employees, but we eventually wanted to launch our app directly to consumers to compete in the marketplace.

However, we didn’t have the resources necessary to work on this project. Although we had experience building payroll apps ourselves, we also didn’t have the experience building banking apps anyway, so we engaged with Uptech to help us build our app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech is helping us develop our banking app, which we will launch for iOS, Android, and web. It will allow users to see their transactions, set up a savings account, and more. As we want to make it an industry-leading app, we’re working on implementing all sorts of features, including the following:

Cashback rewards.
Money transfer capabilities to different accounts.
	Bill paying capabilities.
	Spending analysis tools.
	Mobile check deposit capabilities.
	Cash reload information.
	ATM finders.
In addition to the app development, Uptech has also helped us with the designs. Initially, I provided them with medium-level requirements, explaining every feature I was looking for and the general functionality we required. However, I didn’t provide greater details about those features, so Uptech helped us figure out the UI/UX during the design phase. They have experience with European and American banking apps, so they brought ideas from both markets to come up with the more suitable screen designs for what we wanted to achieve.

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with four people from Uptech. John (Account Executive) is our project manager; Natalia (Product Designer) helps with the UX designs; Dima (CEO) is the lead developer; and Kate (Business Development Manager) handles our invoices and agreements, but I don’t work with her frequently.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

Uptech came recommended as a company with experience in building banking apps. We initially did some Google research, but we were surprised by how difficult it was to find development companies with banking app development experience. The few companies we found wanted either to white-label their app, which meant that they wouldn’t build exactly what we wanted, or provide us with the app without us ever owning the code. Neither option worked for us because we wanted to own the app, and we wanted it to be customizable so that our own development team could make future changes or updates if needed.

At the time, we were working with Amex to see if they could help us with our customer engagement, and I talked with them about our challenges with finding the right app developer. Thus, they recommended Uptech. I also got recommendations from other important banking firms and made a list of potential providers.

Ultimately, we chose Uptech because we liked their experience, and the apps that they had built were more in line with what we were looking for. Although they were a little more expensive than the other companies, we felt like they were more organized and had more experience.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $50,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Uptech has been working very efficiently, completing milestones faster than we could have. It has been impressive seeing them work quickly, especially given the circumstances they’re in being in Ukraine.

Additionally, I really like the designs that Uptech has created so far, and we have a great feedback loop in place to create them. They take feedback well but also push back on certain ideas based on their expertise. They also do a good job coming up with ideas, but ultimately, they let me make the final decisions.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Uptech’s project management has been good, and I’ve really appreciated how organized they are. They’ve put together multiple project schedules for us so that we can go over them and see what they’re working on. Uptech uses Jira and Figma to manage the project, and we communicate via Zoom calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Uptech works faster than most local companies. Although companies in other countries could work faster and for a more economical price, Uptech’s main differentiator is their organization and the quality of their UI designs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great if Uptech created more detailed requirements. Sometimes, I think about what would happen in certain error scenarios of the user journey, and I don’t see details about it in the requirements. However, I haven’t been as involved in the project as I would like, and they might be already working on those aspects.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that you can keep up with them because they work fast. Still, they’re very helpful, friendly, and communicative.

#### Custom Software & Mobile App Dev for Food Tech Company

Co-Founder, EaTable
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Apr 1, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech’s work has helped streamline the client’s workflow and has provided a strong foundation for the solution. The team is superb at project management using various tools, and they communicate well through Slack and Google Meet. Their product-focused approach and detailed documentation stand out.
"“They ask questions, provide suggestions, and learn about our business in order to make a proper product.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of a food tech company called EaTable. We’re in the field of ghost kitchens, and we also have a virtual kitchen or host kitchen, where we franchise our brand to other restaurants. We’re building menus and a food supply chain that we’ll monetize.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We needed to be more tech-focused, so we’re building a second vertical to our business in which we’re programming a SaaS solution for the restaurant industry.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech is helping us develop a B2B solution for our partners and the restaurant market. The solution is a cloud-based Plug and Play (PnP) using AWS focused on last-mile food delivery. We’re building a central code database that will enable us to create an unlimited amount of modules for our services.

To use services like DoorDash or Fedora, restaurants must do multiple logins and interface with different frontends and contact points. Additionally, they have to use different tablets, which can be overwhelming. Uptech is helping us build a solution that aggregates all food delivery platforms into a single frontend where restaurants can upload and edit their menus themselves.

Besides that, we’re also building a kitchen display system where orders are split up between different stations within the kitchen. For this, using existing systems that are very asset-heavy, like Oracle, is too expensive for small businesses. So, Uptech is helping us build a system that is similar to Oracle, except simpler, for small restaurant owners to be able to afford it and use it for their kitchen flows.

We’re collaborating with the Uptech team on the development of a portal where users can analyze sales and change menus. As we move into the kitchen tech development, the team is working with Android. We’re constantly extending the scope, and they’ll build more modules for the solution, including an inventory system and a kitchen OS.

What is the team composition?

I mostly work with the project manager. I’m also in contact with almost everyone on the project besides the backend developers, including the UX designer.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I found them through a referral from a friend who works in IT outsourcing in Kyiv. He helps companies in Europe find the right partner within Ukraine, including us. He told us that if we wanted to build a system that could handle many transactions and didn’t mess up when we started to grow, he recommended Uptech. He chose them from about twenty providers in the portfolio.

I spoke with five suppliers, and although Uptech was a little bit more expensive, they wanted to see our pitch stakes and understand the product and the scope. Other companies I talked to just said yes, whereas Uptech asked many questions, which made me think they could lead the project.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent around €120,000 (approximately $133,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Uptech helped us build a stable ground for our tech solution, preparing the system for big orders and high workflows. This strong foundation also increases the valuation of our product should we decide to sell it or go for an exit.

The project is in its early stages, so we don’t have overall results. However, we do agile releases of each model, and we can use them straight away. For example, we released a menu management system last week, which allows us to update our menus on Fedora. Previously, we needed to call them for any change and wait two weeks for their partner service. Now, we can make changes directly from our system, which has saved us a lot of time.

Similarly, if we wanted to partner with a new provider in the past, we needed to call them to build the menu from scratch, which left us prone to human error. Now, we can create the menu ourselves, and it reflects instantly. This also applies to our partners, who we can kickstart two weeks earlier than anticipated, which means revenue will also come early.

So far, we haven’t seen many bugs in Uptech’s work. When there are bugs, the team is very open and tells us directly. They try to fix bugs instantly or suggest a workaround to work faster, providing temporary fixes while we solve the issues.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management-wise, they’re superb. Even with the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and the team suddenly needing to relocate, we only had a three-day delay, which is crazy.

They use Jira for project management, which I like because it’s our internal tool. We use Notion for documentation and Figma for design. We typically communicate via Slack, where we also include our partners and our food delivery providers. This way, I can monitor communication between the delivery providers and Uptech. Besides that, we use Google Meet quite frequently and call each other through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Uptech’s unique selling point is that they’re product-focused. If a client has an IT idea and isn’t a developer, the team tries to understand their business model. Even though I wondered why they asked so many questions about how the kitchen and the chefs’ work at first, it made sense once the project started; Uptech knows our business, what the product will look like, and the market.

Most outsourcing companies need leadership; they go in the direction the client points to until they’re instructed to twist around. Meanwhile, Uptech can be critical in a good way — it’s like hiring a tech department with business-minded people. They don’t just execute their code; they ask questions, provide suggestions, and learn about our business in order to make a proper product.

All of the teammates have very good English skills, which can often be an issue with offshore providers. Plus, Uptech provides excellent documentation for the product. If we were to go for an exit or sell the solution, we would have proper documentation about the coding and the tech solution. We could sell the product to another company, and they could see everything clearly to keep developing. This will be really useful when we take the product over for maintenance in-house.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they need to change at the moment. Perhaps when we release the product, we’ll see some negatives. However, I’ve worked with other providers that weren’t as good, and collaborating with Uptech is like finally coming to heaven after previous experiences.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best thing you can do is think about the whole market and the business idea to communicate that information to Uptech. Have a clear vision of the scope and how your system will expand. If you do the right things at the beginning, you won’t need to backtrack or rebuild the systems. Give Uptech as much information as possible about your business setup — they won’t spread this information due to the contract.

""We were working with a 9 hour time difference, but communication was never an issue.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founding engineer and product manager at Cardless, a co-brand credit card fintech.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Uptech, and what were your goals?

Build an Android app from scratch.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

High quality, high velocity, and reasonable cost. We had an iOS app already shipped and wanted to ship an Android app as soon as possible.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We had provided an RFP, which the Uptech team used to scope the work. We split the job into 3 milestones, with the final milestone resulting in feature parity to our existing iOS app.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

A project manager, 2 Android developers, and 1 QA.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

This was a great experience. Uptech is extremely professional and self-sufficient. They have solid development practices and QA.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Their PM (Mike Aleksandrov) quickly gained context on our business and user stories, and was able to deliver a completed Android app on time, with limited involvement from our team. We were working with a 9 hour time difference, but communication was never an issue. We used Slack for communication and Shortcut for task management.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their PM (Mike Aleksandrov) quickly gained context on our business, and even provided suggestions for better UX in the app.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A few times the developers took vacation on short notice, and there was some shuffling with staffing, however Uptech communicated quickly about these inconveniences.

**The Review** — Jun 9, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech was able to build an app that works seamlessly and is easy to use. The team internalized and delivered on the client's goal, which was to create a delightful experience through the product. They were professional, transparent, and pulled resources to finish the project on time and within budget.
""We’re passionate about what we do, and having them reciprocate that when it came to building the product was fantastic."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the Director of Product for a technology startup in San Francisco, our goal is to automate timekeeping for lawyers.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We needed an iOS companion application to capture the time lawyers spend away from their computers, so we hired Uptech.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We have a product design team in-house, and Uptech supplied the engineers. We provided designs and detailed specs for a fully-working iOS app, which Uptech then created. Our goal was to increase our capture footprint and provide a better experience for our users.

What is the team composition?

We started off with one lead engineer but brought in another halfway through the project. Toward the end, we went back to working with one person from Uptech.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

We looked at a few places and Uptech came highly recommended. One of our designers knew someone who’d worked with the team in the past.

Their professionalism was fantastic during the initial discussions. They stood out among the other people we’d spoken to in terms of how they saw the project and the questions that they asked. They bought into what we were trying to do, and we felt like they were an extension of our team. The other developers we spoke to had a detached approach, whereas Uptech wanted to create a partnership.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Uptech in January 2021, and they delivered the project toward the end of March 2021.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of our main goals was to create a delightful experience, and Uptech helped us achieve that. Enterprise software can be stale and we were really trying to change that. The delivery of our mobile app from Uptech  was a key part of that journey.

The animations are great and everything works smoothly and as expected. People always comment on how slick, fast, and easy to use the app is. The way it was developed speaks to Uptech’s understanding of iOS. They built an application that really wowed us.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly status calls with their engineers. We also had spreadsheets with story points for the initial specs that we could track against. The project plan helped us to understand when things were going to be developed so we could have everything ready. It was very much a collaborative partnership.

Uptech used a time reporting system and provided a status report each week so that we could make sure we were on time and budget.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Uptech felt like a part of our business and not an external agency. Internally, we’re passionate about what we do and having them reciprocate that when it came to building the product was fantastic.

Uptech was easy to work with and was very professional and transparent. All of those things together gave us that initial confidence that they were the perfect partner for what we were trying to do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing’s jumping out at me.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Future clients should provide Uptech upfront with as much detailed information, walkthroughs, and scope as possible. That’s where we found the real value of working with them. They were able to distill what we gave them into a set of stories and scope, which really informed the estimate. We were able to finish everything on time and on budget. It was a very transparent process.

**The Review** — Oct 9, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Not only does Uptech adhere to strict code standards, but they’re also consistently reliable. The team can run with an assigned task, working independently to get the job done. Time zone differences have caused some communication and workflow challenges, but they’re working to improve on that front.
"“It’s always helpful to know that we can give them a task and have them execute on it autonomously.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re an e-commerce company that manufactures and sells scrubs directly to our consumers. As a product manager, I help manage our website, mobile app, and overall B2B ordering experience.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We often have different initiatives going on that require our workforce to flex. To meet the increase in demand for special projects, we partner with agencies like Uptech. They’re supporting us on web development for our B2B ordering experience.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech works on the frontend of one of our React-based web apps. They handle elements such as the account creation, group ordering, and dashboard view.

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with two of their frontend developers. There’s also an account manager who meets with me once a month.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I wasn’t actually involved in the search process but I believe they’d either worked with us in the past or were recommended by one of our customers.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started around November 2019, and we’re still working with them today.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of the things we pay close attention to is the code quality. We have a very high standard for our code requirements and ensure that they stick to them. The other things we look at are speed and reliability, which are harder to measure.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Uptech has been a great partner because they’re relatively autonomous. We’re able to assign them tasks, and they take ownership of them to get the job done.

In the beginning, we did face some hiccups in communication, especially with the time zone differences. Some things might get lost in translation or maybe it’s a situation where they should’ve reached out to our internal developers for help earlier than they did. We’ve since learned from that experience, and they’ve improved upon that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with their reliability. Again, it’s always helpful to know that we can give them a task and have them execute on it autonomously. We needed to figure out what task size and level of difficulty they could handle, but, once we figured that out, it’s been good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’d be great if they’d ask more questions upfront. Sometimes when we assign a task, their developer will try to figure things out on their own. But, having more upfront questions, even silly or simple ones, can lead to a more effective dialog rather than having to answer questions 1–2 days later.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

As with any agency, you should do your due diligence to establish a workflow early because it can really help the project as a whole. Figure out what works best for your time zone, see what size tasks the team can handle, and identify what makes sense for them to do.

**The Review** — Sep 4, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech has met every milestone and is a key partner in launching the platform. The team is very methodical and thinks through each step of the process. Although that sometimes slows down development, it ultimately results in an effective solution.
"“I was definitely impressed by the intellectual rigor that goes behind how they structure projects and their thinking.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of a tech startup. We’re a residential real estate platform based in Dubai.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

Neither my co-founder nor I were technical, so we needed to get an engineering team spun up as fast as possible.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re responsible for the initial concepts, user research that defined what we would be building in our first year. They’ve been our primary resource for all of our engineering up until this point. Everything that’s currently on our website and on our backend was developed by them. They used TypeScript, Node.js, and React.

What is the team composition?

It varied over time. We’ve flexed up and down. The team size varied between 3–7. We have a project manager who was the keeper of day-to-day staff, a full-time designer, a QA resource, a frontend resource, and 1–3 backend resources.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

A friend of mine referred them to me. I trust his opinion and know that they worked together to get his company up and running. They also have a lot of recognizable brands on their team. They made it pretty clear that they knew what they were doing.

I’ve worked with 7–8 offshore teams, so I know what to expect, and there was never a communication issue with Uptech. Their frontend prowess was something that I valued. We could tell from their previous work that they had a design-centric approach. I really enjoyed our initial conversations as well.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $300,000–$400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2019 and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Uptech has been an extension of our team since day one. First we wanted to launch an MVP, then a V1, and then we wanted to make things faster. We’ve set a variety of milestones every quarter, and they’ve been able to hit that. We were able to launch the company in the midst of a global pandemic.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Generally strong. We met weekly, and sometimes daily. We talk daily on Slack. We share a Jira and Sigma instance, and we used Miro for a time as well.

The team is young, so we had some misunderstandings early on about taking on too much, too fast. There was reluctance to say no to things that I asked for. That may have led to some sloppy code or certain things not being fleshed out. We were able to fix that pretty quickly, but that was a challenge early on.

As a founder, it’s incredibly helpful to have a team managing the day to day of the project. It’s a lot of work to manage Jira, write copy, and keep things moving, but having them manage that was a huge help. As a result, I was able to focus on other aspects of my business, such as fundraising.

Overall, it was critical to have them involved communication and planning. They helped alleviate my workload.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good at staying up to speed with modern frameworks and approaches. They’re able to take an idea from conception to development. They were always teaching me new methods and were willing to try new approaches, workshops, and exercises. I was definitely impressed by the intellectual rigor that goes behind how they structure projects and their thinking

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes it was a little frustrating because we needed to move faster and we shouldn’t be wedded to those mental models. They could be willing to break some of the rigidity around those mental models. However, it’s still nice to have a framework to lean back on.

We struggled early on with some of the tactical decisions we made because we tried to move too quickly. Other than that, we’ve been happy with everything about our engagement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If I were going to do it again, I would have pushed more on team structure. They like to follow a specific structure and like to have their team set in a certain way. If you’re looking to move really fast and get something to market, you need to know they’re more methodical about stuff and they’re hesitant to break that.

Ultimately, that’s a good thing, but I got frustrated when we were moving too slow. We were caught up in documenting this or completing a specific exercise, or debating something else.

"“The attention that the company leadership gave us was very nice.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

The name of the company is PNKYSWR. I’m the chief product officer and am responsible for ensuring that our product fulfills and exceeds customer expectations.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We were trying to produce an MVP.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Starting off with design, they did a number of discovery phases in which the discovery team took the time to understand what our goals were, who our audience was, and what they needed. Their research was very thorough.

They then used React Native as well as AWS to develop it.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was Anastasiya (Business Development Manager).

How did you come to work with Uptech?

They were referred to me for a previous project and I had a fantastic experience working with them. I knew they could deliver a high-quality product for a good price.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted May–November 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We held off launching the platform because of eternal reasons, so we don’t have any numbers. They did fulfill the project requirements and we were very pleased with the results. Overall, they were great.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very strong, and our project manager was excellent. Given the fact that they were an offshore company, they did an excellent job adjusting to our needs.

We communicated over Slack and Google Hangouts and used Trello.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The attention that the company leadership gave us was very nice. We don’t often see that in business relationships.

Are there any areas they could improve?

A few times, there was a bit of a language barrier. They could work on their English a little bit. Or I could learn Ukrainian.

I also felt like we worked with a few project managers before we started working with Anastasiya. But they were always responsive to any issues we brought up.

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech received positive feedback on their work. Ensuring good communication, the team met in person when it was possible and otherwise met online. They adapted quickly and without hesitation to new communication channels.
""The most impressive thing about this company is how it builds a relationship with the clients (us)."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a founder and CEO at apprvl.com

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Uptech?

After a close experience with photography, I saw that this industry is in need of change. The pain was for photographers to confirm and get feedback on their photos with clients. Thus, I and my co-founder aspired to bring to life a solution to this problem. We had moqups ready and needed someone to build it for us.

What were your goals for this project?

The main goal was to develop and build an MVP is to test the main functional parts and hypothesis on real users and collect feedback and make changes. The app should be scalable for further development, assuming mobile app development.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

I and my partner had a list of all companies in Kyiv who might be a good solution for us. It didn't take us long to reach candidates through emails and left out the top 3-5 choices. The last part was to have a face to face talks with each one. Uptech stood-out with their experience with startups and dedication to our problem (rather than just building a product).

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Uptech provided us with a highly committed team of 4 people who developed using Scrum approach for frontend and backend to make an MVP work, as a photo-sharing tool with fast photo uploading saving image quality.

What was the team composition?

We were given 1 frontend developer, 1 backend developer, 1 project manager, 1 quality assurance engineer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We got the product we wanted with positive feedback from photographers and designers who are looking forward to seeing even more features being added.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

For having a better experience with the development team I myself moved to Kyiv. We met in person with the team once in two weeks when it was possible unless had to use google meets. Even when we had to shift communication channels due to some muddle at the start, the team did without hesitation.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about this company is how it builds a relationship with the clients (us). It isn't only about finishing the product that we want but about helping us to solve the problem for the end-user. Like building a tool with convenience for the client, which doesn’t require registration, and very intuitive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Even thou I am satisfied with my overall experience with Uptech, I wish we could have more meetings in person (this time was highly productive and helped us stay on track)

**The Review** — Sep 27, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: While the work is ongoing, the internal team is satisfied with the development work thus far. Uptech is thoughtful and adaptable, providing quality feedback on processes. Their team possesses the creativity and technical expertise to produce high-quality work.
""The Uptech team is filled with young, passionate, and well-educated engineers."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

We're building a mobile application focused on event-management and discovery.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Uptech?

We hired Uptech to design and build our backend architecture as well as to develop the frontend for our native iOS application.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to build a clean, scalable backend framework as well as frontend code that focused on a high level of user delight while using our application. We asked Uptech to do focus on developing our application in such a way that it could eventually be handed over to an in-house team as seamlessly as possible. We also asked that they instrument repeated processes as frequently as possible.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Our Lead Developer had previously worked with members of Uptech for more than a year, during which they inspired great confidence in him to collaborate with them again and to recommend to others that they entrust Uptech with development.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Uptech collaborated with our Technical Lead to configure our backend and inform some of our most critical choices that helped our team decide on the best stack for us to use today, and in anticipation of how the business would evolve over time. We discussed our business needs in depth with Uptech and provided their team with detailed guidelines outlining our needs. The Uptech team took these, researched and confirmed our choices or recommended alternatives where we asked them to do so, and implemented them.

What was the team composition?

The project team had 5 people: 3 backend engineers, and 2 frontend iOs engineers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our MVP has yet to release, and so we do not have any hard data to share. However, we can speak to that we look forward to continuing to collaborate with Uptech and use them as our primary vendor for backend and iOS development.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our team managed the project primarily using Slack, Gitlab, Clubhouse, and Google Drive's suite of tools. Uptech's team was flexible in terms of the best methods of collaboration for us, thoughtful and forthcoming with feedback on how we might improve our collaborative processes and proved themselves to be proactive collaborators where questions remained about product choices.

Despite our team being in Los Angeles, and Uptech's in Kiev, we found there to be no additional barriers to communication outside of those inherent to working with a remote team. I believe that any communication barriers we experienced would have been exactly the same had we been working remotely with a team of native English speakers anywhere within the US. We were concerned about this going into the collaboration, and have zero concern about it now, nearly a year into things.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

While visiting Uptech in Ukraine, I was very impressed by Uptech's leadership and the thought they devote to the structure of their business from their employees' perspective as well as the energy they devote to ensuring their employees have phenomenal working experience as well as an active focus on constantly improving their skill-base.The Uptech team is filled with young, passionate, and well-educated engineers. We're proud to be associated with them.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I wish I had visited them in Kiev for a week-long sprint before we began working together. The trust, familiarity and improvements to our product that I believe would have resulted from such a choice would have thrown rocket-fuel on our collaboration.

**The Review** — Sep 4, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech's assistance in design and development has been extremely helpful. The work is very stable and their coding quality is great. The project management is seamless and functions well despite time differences. Communication is fluid and they are very adaptable with Silicon Valley startups.
""We don’t have to deal with bugs and problems with the code. They’re a real value-add."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Yaza, a video mapping startup. We put authenticated videos on maps. In a world of fake news, we’re a platform where people can protect video content. It’s a safe and easily accessible place to store photos and videos on a map.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We needed to build an MVP for our mobile app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re accelerating and expediting all facets of development to get us an MVP for our iOS app by the end of the month. We spend a fair amount of time iterating on the UX in order to get to what we need for ease of use and engagement. We add interesting things about the app that would get people coming back to it.

Uptech first asked us to take a step back and went through customer validation and problem validation to ensure the product was going to solve a problem that affected enough people. We then went through initial designs and I sent some mockups I’d made. They put their spin on the mockups and added updated UX techniques for the app. We iterated on that design with high-fidelity mockups and worked with them for three months before any code was written. As we started building the product, there were some obvious things that needed to be fixed to make it more usable.

They practice agile development and work in two-week sprints. Their process is very methodical. They begin with a meeting to start the sprint. They prioritize the work that needs to be done. They circulate that with us in a document. We approve it. Then they work on the sprint and two weeks later we have the next bill.

The app is challenging because we incorporate location and video. The videos are massive, which requires performance optimization and battery management. There’s also GPS functionality that drains battery life and is very inaccurate in large cities. We were trying to solve the problem of how we can precisely locate where the video was recorded and ger the user to pin it down. I was out there last month working with them to finalize the use cases and the design.

The app will only be on iOS because of the authentication aspect, which is our guarantee that the video can’t be altered, faked, or spread without your permission.

What is the team composition?

My initial contact was Andriy (Co-Founder, Uptech). There are seven other people.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

We had been trying to figure out what to build for a while. We raised some money and interviewed seven different firms. We liked Uptech the best because their proposal was very thorough. It was clear that they understood the classic Silicon Valley startup methodologies for app development and iteration. We were able to interview some of the engineers before making the final decision.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $97,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2018 and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s tremendously helpful to have a new set of eyes on the design side helping us clean up the design and challenging us. They worked very quickly and enthusiastically. They have a lot of passion and interest in the project. The builds were very stable and the quality of their coding is good. We don’t have to deal with bugs and problems with the code. They’re a real value-add.

We’re so pleased with them that we signed an ongoing fixed-rate staffing contract. We have the team available to us on an ongoing basis and we'll continue to work on iterating the project post-MVP. We’re a team working together rather than a customer/vendor relationship.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager, programmers, and anyone we’re interfacing with directly speak very good English. The time difference hasn’t been a problem because a 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. meeting is the end of the day for them. They document very well. We use Slack to contact each other. I also went to their office for five days.

Communication is pretty fluid. The only challenge is that it’s hard to collaborate on UX design remotely. We both agree that it might make sense for Uptech to require their client to come onsite or for Uptech to send its designers to the site to shorten the iteration cycle on the design side.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really like that they don’t just build something that’s unnecessary. They always try to expand what can be built. They think just like Silicon Valley. Their methodologies, approach to their employees, firm management, project management, and even the way they set up their office environment are all akin to San Francisco. It feels very comfortable for anyone that has been doing a lot of work with engineers in Silicon Valley.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re really happy with them. As their team’s knowledge of UX solutions grows, they’ll get even better at the UX/UI design aspects.

#### Mobile App Dev for Nightlife Promotion Platform

**The Review** — Sep 19, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: With minimal marketing efforts, the app is gaining popularity. Users praise the platform for its design and performance. Uptech consistently meets expectations with their determined work ethic, technical competency, and responsive communication skills, delivering promising results.
"“All of their team members are straightforward, guiding us through each step of the project.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of a nightlife promotional platform that allows representatives from clubs, bars, and lounges, party planners, musicians, and DJs to share their events. Other users can browse the app, find upcoming parties or performances in specific cities, and directly contact promotors to RSVP and request a place on VIP guest lists or bottle service.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

I worked with two different agencies before hiring Uptech; both promised to develop my apps from scratch. The first agency didn’t complete the Android version, prompting me to take legal action. The second completed the apps, but there was a major bug in the Android version that wouldn’t allow promoters to upload their events. Initially, the developer said that he’d fix the problems and make some updates within 30 days, but that soon turned into a full year. Following those negative experiences, I started looking for a new team to fix the previous mistakes.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech completely rebuilt both the Android and iOS versions of our app. They redid the backend and fully optimized the design, prioritizing a seamless flow and a user-friendly interface. All bugs and performance issues are fixed, and we’ve rolled out several updates. Their team also set us up with a new server and administrative panel. The app itself is far from finished; we plan to continue adding new features with the Uptech.

Our platform offers a unique design functionality to help promotors. Because our users are scattered throughout a variety of areas, we programmed the app’s background image to match the city in which they’re looking for events. We also included a ticket-selling tool. Most platforms similar to ours just include a link, but our app creates a direct channel for promoters to sell tickets to their audiences.

What is the team composition?

We work with Dima (Co-Founder, Uptech), who acts as a team leader. He helped us analyze the old apps to scope out the work that needed to be done. We have an additional main point of contact that handles everything else, from questions to contracts. Farther into the project, I began speaking with members of their design team and one of their developers, Roman (iOS Developer, Uptech), who manages the technical work.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I met Shervin at a meetup event for app development. I considered five other companies, but Uptech showed the most interest in my project, discussing its different elements. I was introduced to Dima and ultimately chose to work with his team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2018, and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With Uptech's help, we launched the app, and it’s elicited unanimously positive feedback, both from our staff and our users. We haven’t done any marketing at all yet, but we’re still seeing great results. Recently, I attended a venue opening event hosted by a promotional company that uses the platform. They praised the app for its design and performance.

Uptech consistently offers high-quality services. In retrospect, it was a blessing to have worked with those previous developers because now, I can better appreciate Uptech's professionalism and work ethic. We didn’t expect the app to be completed until around October, but they finished it early.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their staff is young, determined, and highly competent. I can email them with questions, problems, or feedback, and someone from their team responds immediately. With other developers, I wouldn’t hear back for days or weeks. Overall, Uptech is a great agency.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our level of communication is good. They deliver on their promises and don’t give us any false information. All of their team members are straightforward, guiding us through each step of the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have no complaints; their service is on point.

Any advice for potential customers?

I highly recommend them. If I had enough money to buy their team for myself, I’d do it. If they can complete my complex app from scratch, they can do anything.

**The Review** — Sep 18, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: The app boasts 10,000 monthly active users and 100,000 completed orders. Uptech's development work decreased crash rates significantly, improving the app’s performance. In the ongoing partnership, the team consistently shows strong communication skills and a dedicated work ethic.
"“The quality of their work is fantastic; I can’t say enough good things about their service.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Sprent, an on-demand delivery application that allows customers to order items from any story in our city and have it delivered within an hour. Founded in 2016, our business relies on freelancers to deliver the goods from stored to doorsteps.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

I was working with a different company to develop my app’s backend, admin panel, and both the customer- and deliverer-facing versions for iOS and Android devices. Once we finalized those dealings, we engaged Uptech to make some enhancements, handle maintenance, and continue to develop new features and fix bugs.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech is involved in the entire development scope for our app, mainly providing front- and backend development. We provide a basic guide of the features we’re looking for; then they draft a UI/UX design and corresponding wireframes. So far, we’ve integrated multiple extensions, including implementing a one-click answering system for push notifications, integrating Twilio as a messaging gateway and HyperPay to manage payments, and linking the app to the Google Maps API.

The market feature is the core of our application. Once we receive an order, the app determines the location and assigns the delivery to the nearest freelancer. The system provides real-time status updates, allowing customers to track their products through Google Maps.

What is the team composition?

Our primary point of contact is our project manager, Dima (Co-Founder and Team Lead, Uptech).

How did you come to work with Uptech?

While working with the previous company, we began looking for a new provider that offered a higher quality of service and better understood our business. We looked online for reputable companies that fell within our budget. We shortlisted 3–4 companies, all located in Eastern Europe. After interviewing each, we determined that Uptech met our criteria best.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Uptech in January 2018, and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Currently, we have a total of more than 10,000 monthly active users on both the Android and iOS apps, and we’ve completed more than 100,000 orders. Before partnering with Uptech, our crash-free rate fluctuated between 85%–90%. Now, our iOS app is 100% crash-free, and the Android rate has reached 97%. The quality of their work is fantastic; I can’t say enough good things about their service.

As we start another project, we’re considering asking Uptech to help with the development. I’m satisfied with their approach, focusing on the business itself, rather than just the development. They show a real interest in our vision and a commitment to meeting our expectations with each feature that they develop.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

I directly interact with both the project manager and their team of developers, mainly communicating via Slack. We share our status, milestones, detailed explanations, urgent issues, and our plans for each sprint. The entire team is responsive to all of my requests.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I am most impressed by how they develop a proper understanding of the business before writing any code. Also, they’re a friendly team with a great office environment. I spent two weeks in Ukraine, working with them in person.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They can improve in terms of UX/UI design. The team is a bit weak in that regard, but they’re improving.

**Feedback Summary**: As a result of Uptech's high-quality work, both platforms garnered high rankings and positive user feedback. They delivered comprehensive services, managing all the details needed. The team offers thorough, professional, and dependable services.
"“They’re straightforward and honest.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of an online subscription website that gives people great deals on flights.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

I needed to build a mobile app for my users because we only had a web version.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an idea and they created the wireframes. They managed everything that had to do with the mobile app. They planned it out, did the user interface, user experience, design work, coding, and guided us through the process. The app sends push notifications to users whenever we announce flight deals. It allows them to change their settings that are integrated with the backend of our website. We used React Native and Firebase for the push notification features.

The project is complete, but they’re helping with upkeep. They add small features and fixes as needed. We’ll be working on more changes and bigger projects in the near future with them.

What is the team composition?

There were three developers and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

Someone I knew worked with them before and recommended them. We chose to work with them because they’re straightforward and honest. I could tell they’re a good company. I chose them over lower bids.

How much have you invested with them?

The app cost $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2017, and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In the U.K., we’re ranked as the second most-trending app on Google Play and have an average rating of 4.8. We're the fifth highest-grossing travel app in the App Store, and have a 4.7 average rating.

Anytime they see bugs, they take time to make sure they’re fixed.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. I’m sincerely happy with them. I’ll definitely work with them again on any projects that I’m working on in the future. We have ongoing communication with them. We use Slack and have met in person as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a young team, but very professional. They adapted well to the way I do business and I was very impressed by that. They were well suited for my project.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder of a company that provides a marketplace for physical therapy.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We needed Uptech for backend development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Using our wireframes and mockups, Uptech's team is building our landing page using WordPress and designed the UX/UI. Their team connects our CRM system to that page and configures the web hub and API to third-party services.

Their work allows our content to be amassed on one main page and they utilize gravity forms to pull data—to connect to Facebook and AdWords.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact is a project manager, who is also the lead developer. I also worked with one other developer.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

A colleague recommended them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $10,000–$50,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2016 and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**

They deliver all projects on time without any crashes or bugs—addressing those immediately. We are very happy with the quality of their code so far.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate face-to-face sometimes, use Slack, and other management tools. They always deliver everything we need the first time we ask for it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their speed of delivery, high-quality work, and price point impressed us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t see anything yet.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to have a solid project already going. Nail down your wireframes upfront and it’ll eliminate a lot of mistakes.

**The Review** — Mar 12, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech’s product features unbeatable video quality. Company revenue has tripled since implementing the service, which clients enthusiastically praise. The platform broke a competitor’s monopolistic hold on a market niche. Using a prompt and responsive project manager streamlined communication.
"“Their work is reliable and professional.”

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner and founder of a video production business that specializes in market research.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

I wanted to create a custom-built live streaming platform and lacked the necessary programming capabilities in-house.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

When I first hired Uptech, I described my initial idea of how the platform should look, feel, and function. After a couple of discussions, they put together a comprehensive proposal and began development. Since they built out the platform, we've had an open, ongoing dialogue to consistently tweak and improve the platform. In terms of specific technology, they used Amazon ECUs and a Wowza embeddable HTML5 media streaming player.

Live streaming has only recently become readily available. It's on the cusp of development. Especially in terms of programming, it's not the easiest technology to build. We’re always looking for the most cost-effective way to provide this service to my clients. I mainly work with large movie and video game companies. Our web-based platform is useful for virtually any company that conducts research. A different design agency worked on the frontend, which actually turned out quite similar to Uptech’s initial barebones backend design.

What is the team composition?

I had one point of contact and may have spoken to three resources total. I've noticed that three people are usually CC'ed on my emails. Our project manager relayed info to the rest of the team. Having all communications go through one person suits my personal preference.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

Initially, I was debating between building a custom platform myself or outsourcing the work to a developer. Certain companies offer live streaming services for $10,000 a year, compared to Uptech’s affordable, one-time cost. I found them through a personal reference. I researched examples of work they’d done for other clients. They definitely seemed able to get the job done, so I hired them.

How much have you invested with them?

I've spent around $20,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our project began in June of 2016. As with most tech projects, it never really ends because there's always more to add. As more clients become interested in this service, they constantly request new functions I outsource to Uptech. I continually hire them to refine it. If we stopped working on it today, however, the product would still be fully functional.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we built this platform, I've been tripling my revenue metrics compared to last year. Their work is reliable and professional. I can control and tweak every aspect. The custom design is critical; if my clients are spending thousands of dollars for this service, it shouldn't have a generic logo at the bottom. The audio and visual quality outperforms my competitors in the live streaming market. It looks professional and functions as desired, which are my two most important criteria.

My clients are super happy. The current market leader in my particular niche had held a longtime monopoly and refused to innovate. They appreciate that there’s a better, more flexible alternative now. None of them seems to have any issues with the platform's development. When bugs pop up, Uptech solves them pretty quickly. The platform functions smoothly and is an awesome new piece of technology.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a good job. In any business relationship, it takes time to figure out response style and level of self-motivation. As a business owner, it's important to set a precedent for the level of communication you prefer. Once we found our flow, the project progressed really well. Initially, there were a couple of missed deadlines. Once we collectively stepped it up, we really started to see results. We mostly touched base through Skype or email, and occasionally used WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their work speaks for itself. That's what it comes down to. I ordered a project, and they delivered what I wanted. They took responsibility for any problems we encountered, and the final product is great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My only qualm would be the amount of time it took. They could work on their timeliness and punctuality. Communication was very prompt, though. Every time I wrote an e-mail, it was quickly answered.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Touch base with Uptech weekly.

**Feedback Summary**: The platform is yet to launch, but was well received internally and the site’s design was particularly praised. The team provided excellent suggestions, with their recommendations significantly improving the final product, all while maintaining an open and transparent business partnership.
"“Their quality, experience, and transparency were impressive.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Offlease Hub is an online platform for selling and buying used cars. I’m the chief marketing officer, responsible for promotion, marketing, and sales.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We wanted to create the platform and needed a team who could develop it for us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We discussed the project with Uptech and they sent me questions about it. I described my vision and provided them with brief information, as well as several of our competitors’ sites. Based off that information, they developed a prototype from scratch. I then gave feedback about what I liked and disliked.

The website is an auction system focused on the B2B market, as most of our customers are dealers. All of our cars are from official dealers and pass certification so we can guarantee the quality of the car.

What is the team composition?

There were 5 or 6 people that I communicated with. I don’t know how many people worked on the backend but there was a team lead, a web designer, a tester, and a developer.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

Their office is in the same building as ours and I saw they were a big team. I did some research and found that they work a lot with the U.S. market. That was confirmation for me that they had the capability to take on a difficult project. Their price was average, but I decided to try them because I like how they communicated with me. They asked questions and provided ideas.

How much have you invested with them?

$15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2017–December 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everyone in our company is satisfied with the work, including our co-founder, who liked the site and its design. We aren’t online yet but expect to launch in March. I don’t know if there are any bugs, but right now everything is working.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

It was excellent. We used Messenger to communicate and all my questions were answered within 15–20 minutes. There were no problems with communication and I liked how they organized everything. I didn’t always know exactly what I wanted, so I liked that they gave me choices.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very open and transparent. I was supposed to provide content for the website and didn’t make it in time, but they pushed me. They not only organized their work, but helped me to organize my tasks as well.

Their quality, experience, and transparency were impressive. They were eager to discuss any questions, were very organized, and never missed deadlines.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t know anything they can improve. In my eyes, they did the job perfectly.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Believe in the team. If they suggest something, you should listen to them. They will help you to realize the project at the highest level. I’m very happy that I listened and did what they recommended.

**The Review** — Jan 22, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: The app has received positive feedback since its launch and generated an increase in users. Uptech improved upon the existing products and delivered a solution that was stable and suitable for an audience of over 500,000 users. They are unafraid to question requests and offer better solutions.
"“Uptech challenged the existing prototypes and took them to a completely new level.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Prometheus is a platform for free, massive, open online courses with 500,000 registered users. We are a non-governmental organization and our main goal is to spread online education in Ukraine. I'm the CEO of this organization.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Uptech?

Our platform is built on the Open edX engine. We had updated the engine to the latest version and needed to launch mobile apps for it.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create mobile apps for Android and iOS with the following features for our users:

• Stream class videos via Wi-Fi or cellular connection

• Download course videos to watch anytime

• Test your knowledge with basic quizzes and exams

• View course announcements and handouts

• Follow-along course videos with closed captions

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We selected Uptech from the advice of two of our partners.

Describe the project in detail.

We gave Uptech the existing prototypes of the Android and iOS apps updated with the Open edX latest version. We reconfigured our servers to communicate with the apps. The rest of the technology was built by Uptech based on the provided prototypes and our technical specifications. We had very detailed requirements, but Uptech challenged the existing prototypes and took them to a completely new level. They could re-code video playback functionality in such a way that the apps could stream course videos directly from our servers. Uptech built a solution that ensured that our mobile apps are stable and suitable to be used by our large student audience. We have been working with Uptech since March 2017. We still need quite some time until we'redone, since we have a massive stack of technology to carry out. We have no intention of canceling the collaboration with Uptech; we are very happy with our collaboration efforts.

What was the team composition?

We worked with one project manager and two developers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our mobile apps went live in the summer of 2017 and have already increased our audience. With the ability to “learn on the go,” more people have become interested in our platform and it's really due to what Uptech has built in a short timeframe. We have gotten very positive feedback from our students. Also, we have agreements in place that would not have been possible without Uptech's apps.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project management is very well done. Their approach is clear and the lead on the project is both capable and committed, which is echoed by the team of subordinates. They have delivered everything faster than we expected.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I believe it's a part of Uptech's slogan, namely that “the customer isn't always right.” Their customer base appreciates that; you want a developer that can come up with a better solution. Uptech can do this much better than other companies, who simply build what they are told to and don't question requests when it's necessary to.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We are fully satisfied with the cooperation and have already recommended Uptech to our partners.

**The Review** — Jan 11, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Although their work elicited positive responses both in-house and within the user base, what stood out the most about Uptech’s work was their consistency and collaborative skills. They willingly shared expertise and were able to keep track of the many moving parts within a complex operation.
""I have nothing but positive things to say about working with Uptech."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the mobile app product manager for a Dollar Shave Club.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We have very active members and we wanted to give them a great, seamless way to maintain their subscription with us and keep them engaged beyond just the subscription itself. The best way for us to achieve those goals was through a mobile app, which would provide them with account management tools as well as additional content to encourage engagement.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Recruiting and maintaining talent in the mobile development space is hard. Our company initially was just a website, so moving into the mobile space was new territory for us. Uptech began work with us about a year before I came on board, so I can only speak to the time that we have overlapped. Uptech does our Android development, since we have an in-house team that takes care of the iOS app.

In terms of actual features that we develop and implement within the app, Uptech is part of the planning stage. We do not just give them running orders. They are highly collaborative, and we all meet frequently as a group—the engineers from Uptech, our design and UX team, and myself—to brainstorm and discuss features. Our UX team will then provide Uptech with designs and wireframes. As a group, we all estimate the level of effort required to implement those features and then break everything down into smaller tasks.

What is the status of this engagement?

They began working with us back in October 2016, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The last I checked, our Android app rating in the Google Play store was around a 4.8 out of 5 stars, which is very high. We have a ton of great user reviews, and we get consistently excellent feedback from our customers.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

For a while we used Trello for project management, but we recently moved over to Jira. The transition from one to the other with Uptech has been more or less seamless, and they caught on to the new system quickly. Our whole mobile app team has regular meetings, to which they regularly attend. We have a stand-up once a week and a morning check-in the other four days of the week. They have been good at giving advance notice when they have vacations or paid time off coming up. Because we have these regular meetings, our whole team—including Uptech—has become fairly adept at being able to estimate how much work we can get done in a two-week sprint.

Even though their scope is specifically Android, we have a lot of interaction between all of our teams; mobile apps, site, backend services, and infrastructure. A lot of our work and updates require significant coordination with these different teams, and Uptech has been great about communicating consistently with everyone involved.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One thing I have really appreciated is that we have mostly been able to work with the same developers. I have worked with other contractors where you are constantly onboarding somebody new as developers move between projects. The consistency with Uptech has been really nice. They have integrated seamlessly with our in-house team, to the extent that we no longer see them as contracted resources, but as our Android developers. Although a time difference is often an issue in such types of partnerships, it has never been a problem for us. They adjusted their schedules to meet at times that were convenient for our office in Los Angeles. I have nothing but positive things to say about working with Uptech, and have genuinely enjoyed our collaboration, particularly in regards to seeking their advice. They have responded very well to us sharing our ideas and general goals with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing that would speak to Uptech specifically. Any challenges that we have faced are the kind that you face with any team, whether it be a contractor or in-house. They have been a vital and vocal part of the process as we continue to improve our overall approach to mobile development.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Lean on their expertise in Android, seek out their thoughts and advice to ensure that you are designing and building the end product in a way that makes sense. Including them within the overall process is essential for an effective workflow and positive final result.

**The Review** — Jan 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech’s technical expertise introduced new solutions to the in-house team, ultimately creating a better product. Highly transparent, they communicate on a daily basis and monitor progress through project management tools. Solid engineers, they’ve helped craft a one-of-a-kind product.

""They’re good, solid engineers who’ve helped us create a challenging, one-of-a-kind product."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of a company that sells aerial photographs to a variety of customers, including real estate, construction, and insurance firms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?
We needed to augment our in-house engineering team to build our mobile apps.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
While I realize it’s common for companies to outsource entire projects, we preferred to maintain the product’s specs and design in-house. We hired Uptech to support our senior engineer and integrated them as members of our team.
Together, they’ve designed a complex mobile app for iOS and Android. Intended for drone pilots, it allows users to see which drone missions are available and then connects the cellphone to the drone’s SDK for easy piloting.
The app also connects to our servers so we can receive data.
What is the team composition?
We hired four team members, two for iOS and two for Android.
Any team member went through a two-part process. I conducted an initial interview and passed their information to our senior engineer if I thought the individual was suitable. If the engineer approved, then they were added to the project.
How did you come to work with Uptech?
We have an in-house recruiter who stays in contact with other companies. One of his contacts recommended Uptech, so we reached out them and they began sending us résumés and setting up interviews.
How much have you invested with them?
Around $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in July 2017 and our relationship is ongoing. The iOS version has launched, with the Android version set to follow in the coming weeks.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their Android engineers recommended moving to clean architecture when they first came on board, a proposal our in-house engineers hadn’t considered. Uptech’s engineers introduced the concept, explaining how it utilized different layers to create an organized, logical grouping, and this ended up being an effective way to structure the app.
How did UpTech Team perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very transparent. We stay organized through daily sendups wherein they communicate their status. We also rely on project management tools like Trello and Jira. In this way, each task is represented as a work item we can monitor.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I interviewed them myself, so I can speak to the technical depth of their team members. They’re good, solid engineers who’ve helped us create a challenging, one-of-a-kind product.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would recommend using our two-part interview process, which worked well for us. Keeping the product specs and design in-house also ensured we had ultimate control over the product’s quality.

**The Review** — Sep 29, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: They offer prompt delivery, effective communication, skilled developers, and the ability to make suggestions regarding overall processes. Although development has been temporarily paused, the relationship will likely continue in the future due to their reliability and efficiency.
"“We have high standards for code communication, so we felt lucky to have found them.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the head of products for a startup in the e-health sector. We generate automated nutrition plans.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We needed more manpower in different areas to provide white-label technology solutions to companies. This included bug fixing, refactoring, new white-label and features development, as well as process management. We were looking for a vendor who was qualified and experienced with React Native.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech worked on many different tasks involved with frontend development. They implemented features and styling, fixed bugs, and refactored poor code that was a result of hurried development.

Our mobile application has a feature that allows our company’s customers to input things which they want to have in the app. Our assigned developer, Max, worked a lot on the actual screen and also implemented style and design changes to white-label solutions at the request of a customer.

The shopping list that is specific to our app was fixed as well.

What is the team dynamic?

We mainly worked with Max, who is one of their developers. We also briefly worked with another developer, Andrei, for two days. We had to freeze the project and reallocate our focus for now due to our business situation.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

We’d searched for developers for 1–2 months, and had interviewed several companies. A friend in our network recommended Uptech, so we interviewed them. They seemed promising, made us a good offer, and also did well in the trial phase. We have high standards for code communication, so we felt lucky to have found them.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent approximately €3,000 Euro [U.S. $3,553] per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June or July 2017, and the relationship ended in September 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've been able to work through projects that we wouldn't have been able to without their help. We've had to put a pause on development temporarily, but we're looking forward to picking the relationship back up as soon as we have the next need.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is communicative, on time, and reliable. They even gave us suggestions on how to improve our own processes.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are very organized and on top of their tasks. We didn't run into any trouble at all throughout the relationship. We really enjoyed working with them and hope to again in the future.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The Uptech also asked me this question during the project, and I struggled to find anything they needed to improve. I can't think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential clients of Uptech?

I definitely recommend them to anyone in need of development services. Don't let the fact that they're young deter you, because they are very capable and skilled.

**The Review** — Aug 15, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The app is performing well with 70% user adoption, an average Google Play Store rating of 4.4, positive reviews, and minimum bugs. Uptech’s sense of ownership, exceptional collaboration, high-quality deliverables, and tight turnarounds make them a trusted partner for high-stakes projects.
""They provide high-quality work very responsibly—we’ve built a strong relationship and get along well."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Aspiration is a FinTech company that’s trying to bring the best financial investments to everyone. We have a large focus on socially responsible investing. In general, we want to democratize access to high-quality investment products.

Another thing that makes our company unique and is a core part of our mission is that all of our products follow a pay-what-is-fair model. People can pay from $0 up to $2 a month for the use of our products. We believe that increases the accessibility of these products and helps us avoid the fee gouging we see in the news.

We have another important program, Fines Worth a Difference. We have a commitment to give 10% of our top-line revenue to charity every year. Currently the charity we partner with is called Accion, which is the largest provider of small business microloans in America.

We are a modern-day, socially conscious financial institution who really wants to help people save and spend money better. We do this by bringing them the best financial products and technology to help them improve their investments and spending. I’m the head of product and data.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

As a startup, it doesn’t matter where you are—everyone is always looking and competing for the best engineers out there. Knowing that we want to build a lot of great technology and build out our platform to help our customers, we were looking for ways to augment our mobile teams for both iOS and Android.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our development lead had already started to develop the iOS app and we had completed portions of it when Uptech started working with us. Since we were so pleased with Uptech’s level of service, we recently added an Android engineer from their team to work with our full-time Android lead. The Uptech engineer just joined in the last 3–4 months.

When the Uptech team joined our mobile efforts, we hadn’t launched the iOS app yet, but we did have a prototype that a previous in-house engineer worked on. They really did an amazing job of picking up that code base and understanding it.

We launched the iOS app 2–3 months after they started working on it. We’ve been working closely with them since then to improve and release new versions for our iOS app.

One feature is called AIM: Aspiration Impact Measurement. As a FinTech company that’s focused on socially responsible investing and benefitting the world, we thought it would be really cool to help users understand how their spending influences the people and the planet. We built a proprietary database that rates companies where people use their debit cards. Categories include environmental, social, and governance (ESG). We have a lot of ESG data on these companies and assign each one a people and planet score. If you made a purchase at Walmart, its scores would show you how they treat the people and planet. We give users a score based on where and how they spend their money. This was a feature that we did mobile-first, and despite very tight deadlines, they did a fantastic job on it. They’ve been helping us with iterations on this feature since then.

What is the team dynamic?

Uptech provided the lead engineers on this project. We had project managers, data scientists, mobile engineers, and backend engineers working to launch this novel feature. We currently work with one Android engineer and two iOS engineers. There’s also a project and sales manager and a technical lead.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

We have an onsite Android engineer and were in the midst of finding some iOS developers when he recommended the Uptech. He had past experience working with them. Through initial phone calls and working with them, we saw that they have a good product sense and care about the product and our customers, despite being a remote team. We discussed the features and shared a spec on how it should work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in July or August of 2016, and the relationship is ongoing. There’s still a lot of work to do. They launch new features and improve the existing app. They fix bugs, help with UI designs and UX enhancements, do code refactoring, and improve analytics within the app.

They are responsible not only for product features but also for engineering quality, performance, etc. They make sure the product is functional, reliable, and scalable.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were part of the app development even before it launched. They get a lot of credit for the success of our iOS app. We’ve had good reviews indicating that it’s a high-quality release with a minimum number of bugs. We have a high level of user engagement and adoption. Over 70% of our customers have downloaded our iOS or Android checking account app. There’s a high degree of daily user engagement. We didn’t have the app when a lot of those customers joined, so the fact that they bought into it is great.

In Google Play Store, our average rating is 4.4 out of 5.0, and we’ve had 500,000 downloads.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

We do biweekly standup meetings where we do sprint planning. We communicate through Slack and email. They’re very easy to reach despite being in different time zones.

Both our team and theirs have been flexible to make ourselves available. We’ve been able to create a clean workflow to hand off assets using Sketch and Zeplin. They’re very responsive when we send a request to them. Despite the challenges of working with backend developers, they did a good job of learning the APIs, asking questions, and understanding how to use them. They check their quality of work before they ask us to do a full task test review. They’ve been doing well with deadlines, communication, and understanding the purpose of the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They provide a high quality of work very responsibly. We’ve built a strong relationship and get along well. I appreciate the level of interest they have expressed in Aspiration.

Rather than just coding without providing feedback, they’ve always been thoughtful about the product and the customer. They work like a true team. They’ve treated all the work that they’ve done like their own, even though both our team and their team did it together. As soon as we started working with them, we realized that they were able to deliver the quality of work we were looking for in our mobile development.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

**The Review** — Jul 27, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Uptech’s team of developers are not only eager to learn, but passionate about creating an elegant UI. Their accommodation, availability, and project management all made for a proactive and beneficial relationship.
"“Uptech’s code quality and unit testing are excellent, and they’re really on top of business.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m CTO of Freebird Rides, and we’re making Uber rides free in Los Angeles. Basically, we’re convincing bars and restaurants to contribute or pay for Ubers to bring customers in. We have about 20 people working with us, and we’re located in Venice.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We had landed a couple of big gigs, including an NFL/Superbowl premier party in LA, which we were trying to spread the word about. We needed more hands-on development for both the iOS and Android app, as well as the MAC end of the API. We’re a startup and only had two people working at the time.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us prepare quickly by adding 6-7 developers to our team who helped build many cool features. They created an AirBar that pops up when you log into the app, which is basically a search bar at the top with a subpanel of Smart categories. If we’re doing an event, NFL can pop in below it, and it’s very optimized and sophisticated. As you scroll down the list, the main navigation at the top shrinks into a pinned header. Uptech even asked if they could open source this on their GitHub as an example of their work.

They really helped us get the app out the door and into the market. We launched the iOS version in LA in June, but won’t be launching the Android version for a couple months because we’re still iterating the marketing and messaging on the iOS version. We operate with over 400 bars and restaurants in LA alone where you can get discounted Uber rides. Uptech was very supportive and they made a beautiful UI. They integrated our branding guidelines and theme elegantly throughout the app.

Although we’ve recently been hiring internally, if we ever get another big project, we will definitely reach out to Uptech again.

What is the team dynamic?

We had 5-6 developers staffed at any given moment who we would rotate depending on their skill sets. Once the backend was built, we moved on to the frontend, which required different developers. They were very supportive and worked well with us on a weekly, day to day spread schedule.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

A friend of mine who had worked with Uptech strongly recommended them. At the time, availability was the decision making factor. After I sent Uptech a small test, I went with them because they knocked it out of the park and seemed excited about the project.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $150,000-$200,000 over 7 months.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2016, and recently paused the engagement in June 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re receiving good reviews, and have had a lot of customer support. The only issue has been with some of our messaging, which isn’t bad, but we’ve had to explain to people how to use the app. There’s also been some confusion regarding marketing terms and appeal. Other than that, everyone has been really honest about how happy they are with it. Uptech’s code quality and unit testing are excellent, and they’re really on top of business.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication was good, and they were very professional and easy to work with. The burn down charts and invoices they sent us were great, also. We had a couple of hard deadlines but they nailed it. We were in the exploratory phase, so it was more about producing the quality rather than hitting the mark. The few times we had a deadline crunch and wanted to get a build out, they helped us get the job done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been using a new technology called RX, and they picked it up well and were very eager to learn about it. The unit testing they conducted outside of coding was awesome, because being test driven during development of a big product is extremely important. Many developers will just code and build it, but the moment you try to add or change a feature, you don’t have the unit test support or coverage and this leads to quality drops. They brought the unit and UI tests, and they were knowledgeable about devops as well as project development. I’d give them a gold star on that one.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s room for improvement with time management, including boarding and figuring out what the payment structure is going to be like. Overall, they were great, and when I instructed them to log their hours and tasks worked on, they had no problem with that. Every agency probably uses different tools, but we just plugged them in and started running, then it took about 3-4 weeks to figure out management. They jumped right in on the project with us, but looking back, it may have been wise to frame it better instead of just getting to work.

**The Review** — Apr 24, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The launched product has received only positive feedback, thanks to Uptech’s bug-free deliverables. Their fluid workflow and responsiveness allowed the unorthodox system to succeed and continues to strengthen the partnership.
""Uptech solved all the needs we had.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Art Kive has an app that serves parents by storing their children’s art. I’m the lead developer and full-stack engineer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We were looking for a solid Swift iOS developer to augment our team in working on a native iOS app. We also wanted to make sure the team we found was able to solve problems with an existing code base. Part of the issue with working with overseas teams is availability and time differences. UPTech was very flexible, even staying up late and getting up early to work on the project.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We are transitioning the app to a subscription module. This project was not a conventional sprint system where the UX and UI team identifies, designs, and resolves issues and then implements them. I was still building the subscription module and the Rails server, so we were designing and developing at the same time. We added some capabilities to detect if a user has a subscription, needs a subscription, etc. There’s a feature that presents and gives discounts in the UI when users go to checkout. The problem the app solves is storage, but the point of sale is converting items into high-quality coffee-table keepsake books and other items. We’re aggregating some hotfixes and feature additions that we’ll have Uptech tackle in the future.

Uptech dealt with the presentation of price changes, member plans, and also some core logic around whether a user needs a plan and what to do in that situation. They were very understanding and flexible and dealt with the process really well. I was directly managing the team from Uptech. Andre, the project manager; Oleg, the iOS developer; and their company were awesome. They both speak really good English and are funny. I know Uptech also does Android work, but we’re not using them for that right now.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

One of our owners reached out to our circle and got a recommendation for a gentleman named Shervin, who is the team leader in the US for Uptech. He finds the work and funnels it to the developers overseas. Usually, that’s a scary business model and something I wouldn’t contract, but they did a great job and beat the odds. They were good.

How much have you invested with Uptech?

We’ve spent between $7,000 and $10,000 over the last quarter.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2017, and we continue to contract them for version releases, hotfixes, etc.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

Uptech solved all the needs we had. I haven’t received any complaints about bugs, which is rare. There had been existing bugs, but Uptech’s work has yielded no new bugs. That’s the best part of their work. They solved the need and were able to be extremely Agile with us as we were being fluid in our process, which isn’t normal development.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They dedicated as much time as we needed to our project. When the project began to taper and we were working on other things, they did other projects. Oleg and Andre were both available on the weekends and nights for us. They did a 3-week focused sprint with us; after that, they made the time to finish what we needed. They did a good job. We didn’t have moments where they weren’t focused on us. They would communicate that it might take them a couple of days to start a new task, but they always got to it in a reasonable amount of time.

What did you find most impressive about Uptech?

They were fluid and available. They produced good code that has shown no new bugs. They did their job and did it well while being cost-effective.

Are there any areas Uptech could improve?

I don’t have any complaints right now. They did what they needed to do.

""They’re extremely communicative. They're everything I could ask for."

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

The name of my company is Photo Ops, and it’s a photo-sharing platform utilizing scavenger hunt game mechanics, photo sharing and mobile devices to create a fun and engaging experience for users to interact with brands. I’m the founder and CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?
We were trying to obtain a quality development team that was also cost-effective. We needed them to do ongoing development work on both iOS and Android.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Uptech stepped in to provide both front-end and back-end development for the iOS and Android platforms for our mobile app. In terms of CMS, they provided all the user experience and visual design work. I provided them with the initial layout and design, and they’ve made recommendations and changes that we’ve agreed to. I had full visibility into the composition of the team, which was one project manager, one front-end iOS developer, one back-end developer and two Android developers.
How did you come to work with Uptech?
I was referred to them via a contact of mine at another company. They recommended Uptech because of their great rates and the great work that they do. I had a couple conversations with Uptech’s senior management and really liked what they had to offer.
How much have you invested with Uptech?
$10,000-$20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in November 2016 and the development is ongoing. Interestingly, we launched the first version of the app this morning. We’ve reached a very important milestone and we’re going to continue iterating on that until we’re satisfied.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We just launched today so we don’t have any real feedback yet. But to give you a little more information, the app was previously built by another developer, and we came to a point where we were outgrowing that developer’s skills and the app needed to be rebuilt to be more effective. In contrast to the original build, the current build is incredible. It’s amazing.
How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management has been great. They’re extremely communicative. They’re everything I could ask for. I have full visibility and communication channels with everyone on the team.
What did you find most impressive about Uptech?
The guys at Uptech are extremely good at what they do. I know that’s broad, but it’s hard to find developers who are both responsive and accountable to their work.
Are there any areas Uptech could improve?
In the interest of always getting better, they could improve on the testing of the app. I come from an interactive background and I know what’s it’s like, but just making sure the app is 100% before presenting to the client would be the only thing I could suggest.

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our company is Butter, and we’re a social discovery app. I’m the cofounder and CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?
We had our app in the market for a number of years, and we were looking for a team that could help us update our existing apps and also provide both design and development with the real goal being user downloads and user engagement.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have both an iOS and an Android app, and based on their team’s expertise, we decided to focus in on the Android app. There are a number of strategic reasons for that, among them being that it would give us a better international footing. We were starting to see use and downloads across some different markets where we felt that a really solid Android version would be a very good thing. Unfortunately, our previous Android team wasn’t very skilled, and so there were some issues related to crashing and bugs and so forth. UpTech brought in their Android team and really stabilized the application. In doing so, they also did some teaching and QA. The next thing was to improve the usability and functionality of the app so that we would make it more attractive to end users and also reduce the number of taps it would take to do any given thing, whether it was looking at a photo or viewing comments or looking at someone’s profile or just browsing through content. That involved the development team and a design component as well. We had them work on a new design that leveraged our old feel and approach, but with the goal of making usability that much easier, reducing the amount of actions that users would have to take to be engaged with the content. They developed and implemented that design in the app itself. When that was completed, we did see an increase in downloads and engagement in Android, along with an increase in in-app purchases and revenue as well.
The next phase of the project was to implement native ad units in the app. The design team determined the best places in the app to add native advertising and then the development team went ahead and integrated that into the app. Right now we’re in the process of doing a similar approach for our iOS app as well.
How did you come to work with Uptech?
Our company had gone through an accelerator in Los Angeles, and we had built a relationship with a developer/consultant there. He had worked with a number of different teams, so we reached out to him asking for a recommendation for a skilled team that could take on the project. He referred us to Uptech.
How much have you invested with Uptech?
We have built an interesting relationship with them where part of the cost is based on revenue share; we wanted to incentivize the team to meet the metrics we had established for in-app purchases and ad revenue. So they were very flexible in working with us in a way that would incentivize them and work well for us. But I would say over the course of that year, I would think we spent around $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
To the best of my memory, we began working together in February 2015. We accelerated the pace of that work through the second half of 2015. The work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
One of the big problems with our previous Android app is that we would experience a lot of crashes. That was a source of consistent complaints. We’ve been able to absolutely minimize that if not eradicate it. That was the biggest metric, just getting an incredibly solid application out of this. What that has done, along with the user interface improvement, is that it has helped increase our downloads by about 200%. After the launch of that version of the app, our revenue has gone up by 150%. We’ve had some really good numbers that can be attributed to the fact that the app is incredibly solid. People have a good experience. And from a design perspective, it’s a more enjoyable app too. That’s resulted in fewer user complaints, more downloads, and more revenue.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve had a great experience. We use Slack and Trello to manage our projects. There will be a lead for any given area of the project. There’s an overall project lead that we can always talk to, then an Android development lead, an iOS development lead and a design lead. We can communicate with whoever we want via those channels, and then we have Google Hangouts where we can discuss things face to face. But that’s how we’ve been working and it’s been great. They’re always responsive; someone’s available. They’re very proactive: there may be things that we’re not asking for and they will reach out to us and say, “We need you to check this,” or “Here’s a recommendation we have; let’s try this.” Or “Here are the three ad networks we want to use. Can you take a look and let us know if it’s okay.” I see them as being helpful, available and proactive, which is something that I like. I like to know that I’m working with someone who is not just following the spec of the project or doing the bare minimum, but they’re very active in looking for the best solution or coming to the table with their own suggestions. I always want someone who’s going to step up and improve things with their own skills and knowledge.

What did you find most impressive about Uptech?
Based on my past experiences with other outsourced software developers, the communication is always great. There has never been a challenge on the communication side. Again, they are very on-the-ball. If anything, we’ve been the ones who have dropped the ball or haven’t gotten back to them. The communication has been very impressive. I was also very pleased and surprised by their design acumen. They have some very thoughtful designers working on their team that helped push the project forward. I really do prefer designers and developers to be on the same team and working closely together, so that was something that was very pleasant. They’re a team that’s willing to work collaboratively and take feedback.

Are there any areas Uptech could improve?
Off the top of my head, I don’t think so. Their available skill set matched really well with what we needed. I would say that there might be certain areas when it comes to back-end development that there were some skill sets that weren’t immediately available, but that has never held anything up. In those cases, we’d just need to be more proactive in scheduling things. We might have to work that resource into the schedule down the line. But that didn’t hold us back or impact us in any way. That’s the only thing that came up. I love working with them and I want to do more, so it’s always a challenge to map your need to the availability of the team.

**Feedback Summary**: They have reduced crashes on one app by over 20% and have improved performance overall. Uptech is the only outsourcing company that the client feels is on par with US resources. They provide useful suggestions and high quality solutions.
""I have referred them. It’s very difficult to find guys you can count on."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I have 2 companies that they do work for; both are mobile software companies. The name of the app they do the most work on is Geeking App. The app is pretty large.

We’re 2 people right now. I’m one of the partners.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

We had previously done all our development in-house. I’ve been doing software for a long time so we did it domestically over the years. We didn’t have enough work nor did we want to spend as much as was necessary to have a full-time US-based person. Our part-time US-based guys were not readily available. That’s the main reason we tried to find a company to help us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Uptech is doing mobile Android and iOS development for me. They’re doing the same thing for both companies. They’re only doing Android for 1 company, while they’re doing Android and iOS for the other one. They didn’t start anything from scratch. They took over existing stuff. For 1 company, they took over a fairly complex iOS app that we had been developing for 3 or 4 years. The app was complicated because it was very deep and very messy. The Android app was also pretty poor. It had been developed initially by a different overseas firm that did not do a good job, and then it had been hacked together by various other developers. They jumped in on that, which is always stressful and challenging.

We’ve done 2 projects with them and they continue to work on the same apps. We don’t develop new stuff but we do develop new features. The biggest thing they did on one of the apps was revamping the Android app. Now, it uses the latest Android user interface guidelines and Android methods. It was very out of date, so that was a substantial project. It was behind the scenes stuff, although the UX did get updated so users saw that. But most of their work was on improving the stability and performance of the app.

We tend to have 1 person who leads the project. There’s 1 person that oversees. We have had times where the person we used got busy on another project because we don’t have anyone dedicated to this full-time. We’re not guaranteed a certain person indefinitely. Sometimes we do 40 hours a week, sometimes we do 80 hours a week, and sometimes 20 hours a week. If that person gets allocated to another project, then they’ll put someone else in. That’s happened once or twice.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I didn’t go seek them out. There’s a guy in LA who is a broker for them. He introduced us to them and he takes a fee from that deal. So, they met us through him. I don’t really have to deal with him now as I work directly with Uptech.

How much have you invested with Uptech?

We paid $60,000 for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working for about 9 months with them. It started in February or March of this year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

They reduced the crashing on the Android app massively. It was just a very poor app. They’ve reduced it down to 98.7% non-fatal crash on a daily basis. We were probably 75% prior to that.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

We mostly speak through Slack and we use Pivotal Tracker to assign them tasks. Occasionally, we have Skype calls to go through larger scope things. I’ve been developing software for 20 plus years and I’ve outsourced big projects to other countries maybe 10 to 12 times. They’ve been total disasters 11 out of 12 times, or at best they barely skate by. Uptech is the only company I’ve ever used in my entire career that was as good as someone I’ve used here in the US. My only concern is as they start taking on more clients, they won’t have time for me. They know we’re one of their earliest clients and I think they want to take care of me because we’ve been a good client. It’s very difficult to find international developing firms that actually know what they’re doing.

What did you find most impressive about Uptech?

They’re good at understanding what the spirit of the action item is and then recommending an alternative solution if that’s not the best way. At best, most developers will do exactly what you ask for. A lot of developers will do way worse than that, meaning it won’t even be what you asked for. But the best developers will develop the best solution for what you ask for. That means they’re not going to do exactly what you said; they’ll suggest a better way of doing it. That’s what really good developers do and that’s what Uptech does. It’s a rare find.

Are there any areas Uptech could improve?

They’re not on US hours so it sucks. I have to wait. It takes longer to get things done than having someone in my office. But that’s not them specifically, it’s just the nature of outsourcing internationally. We have 1 person, so we’re subject to that person’s availability. They work full- time. But based on the speed they get things done, I suspect they’re probably not working every single hour on our project. The speed is acceptable for what we’re attempting to do, so I’m OK with that.

""They go above and beyond for me and for whatever I need for my clients."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the Senior Designer at Dollar Shave Club for their iOS and Android apps, and I am the Partner and Creative Director at TwoScoops Studio.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

I had clients who needed different websites developed. One was a custom WordPress site for a law firm. The other was a tech company that needed their own site built from scratch. Uptech handled both of these.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The Law Firm required a responsive site that they could update themselves when needed. Dima suggested a custom WordPress site to make this possible. I worked with Dima and Andriy to set a roadmap for them to let my clients know when their site would be completed. From there, we set mile markers and a QA schedule to get us to launch on time. Uptech handled all of the development for a custom, responsive site build that we for a start-up that sells mobile advertising.

I worked closely with Dima, the team lead. He made sure that I had one dedicated full-time staff person working on each project.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

Uptech developed the Android app for Dollar Shave Club; that’s how I got in touch with them. When they separated from the company that they were with before, we decided to continue working together on TwoScoops projects.

How much have you invested with Uptech?

In total, they charged $5,000 to $10,000 for their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

It’s been about a year. Uptech started working together last September. We launched the Android app at Dollar Shave Club in March. Since then, we've continued to keep creating work. We’re getting ready to build a new site this week for an outdoor 5-on-5 soccer tournament and have a few other projects coming down the line.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have exact numbers, but I do know that all of my clients have relayed to me that they’ve had an increase in traffic. All of my clients love the sites. We haven’t had any issues with bugs that pop up or any issues with the sites crashing or being hacked. They’re really quick with their response time in case anything does come up. I know everyone that has had their site built through me and Uptech is over the moon.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

I think they’re great. When we first started working together, we were still trying to find the right process. We were running like a fly-by-night business for a bit, but I think we’ve got it down to a science now. They’re extremely quick to respond in case anything comes up or if I have clients who need changes. For example, I had one of my clients move to a Chicago office, so I had to update the website. They sent that to me yesterday and it was fixed this morning.

What did you find most impressive about Uptech?

One of the reasons I love working with them so much is that they go above and beyond for me and for whatever I need for my clients. They’re always super clear and transparent about what they’re working on. They tell me when and what they need from me to get things done. We’ve had times where we had to swap a developer out in the middle of a project, but they told me a week in advance. Everybody onboarded properly and work was done on time. It was a really seamless transition from one developer to another. I always know what’s going on because they’re constantly checking in. I always have the ability to hop on Skype or send them an email. For all of those reasons, I trust them with all of my projects. The work is great, the development is awesome, and you can’t beat transparency like that.

Are there any areas Uptech could improve?

I would have said that we could be better about VQA in the beginning, but I just heard that they've added a few dedicated QA people to the team. We also just started using Trello for VQA and bug-tracking which has been very helpful so, I think we're already improving.

""They [Uptech] care a lot about the work they do, about the end result for the client, and about what a project means for their clients."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please introduce your business and what you do there.

My company is an IT [information technology] service company. My title is director of U.S. operations.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Uptech?

The challenge was that we did not have the specialists with the specific skills we needed for some of our projects. Uptech had those specialists. They were of higher quality than anyone else we knew, and they were there when we needed them.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our company is itself a service company. Uptech would fit into our projects as a subcontractor and just become part of our team. For example, one of the projects that we engaged them with was a mobile app, which involved writing iOS and Android apps using all the latest frameworks and technologies. Also, in some cases, they needed to do some work on the back-end. The other challenges involved needing to work with legacy code and having to work in this time zone.

There are basically two models of projects. One is where an individual resource works as a remote dedicated person and is involved and engaged in the client's process. Then, there's outsourcing, where someone just comes to us and wants us to make something. We go away, we make it, and deliver it. We used the first model with Uptech, and their people shined. It made it much easier to work from a remote situation.

Please describe some of the key features in the mobile apps that they designed for you.

One app required very slick, smooth animations. It involved a lot of rapidly changing UI [user interface]. They designed a very modern interface using the latest in both design practices and code practices. The app had a high level of complexity, good performance, and appearance. They designed and developed the app in a very short time window.

Another app that we worked with them on was for designing clothes. It was done on iOS, but not on Android. We faced a real challenge because of a lack of documentation. There were no Android-specific designs, and many developers would be stuck just constantly asking questions. Uptech was very good at just jumping into a situation with a lot of uncertainty, asking the right questions, dealing with the social challenges of the project, and getting to work.

How many projects have you worked on with them?

At this point, I would say six projects.

How did you come to work with Uptech?

I reached out to them through Upwork. It was an emergency. I needed help over some holidays, and we went from there.

How much have you invested with Uptech?

We have spent less than $50,000 working with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work with them began in January 2016 and is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

In the case of two of our bigger projects, the stakeholders set a very aggressive timeline. In one of those cases, they had to get the app done in time for the 2016 Democratic and Republican conventions. Uptech took our estimated time and cut that in half. They managed to hit that deadline and release a stable app that did well on day one – something that is very tough to pull off.

With another app, the challenge was that the previous developer had just left, which created a lot of unknowns. Uptech jumped right in and worked with our team to figure out what was going on. The final quality of the app was so good that it was featured by the Google Play store. In addition to that, the clients were so happy that they wanted to keep doing more work with us.

The main thing I can say about them is they're very consistently reliable. There's never a day when you just can't get a hold of them. They always respond very quickly, even in little things. They're very good with email, communication, and doing what's being asked. A lot of times with remote work and outsourcing, problems happen when a simple communication issue spirals out of control. That has just not happened with Uptech.

Uptech is very good at working with people here in America and reading between the lines, working not just as a programmer but also as a developer. They are very good at understanding business needs and communicating clearly. Everyone around here says that they have been among the best that anyone's worked with offshore. In terms of the quality, I'm a developer myself and know when I see a good code with few bugs.

How did Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They were pretty good. They were very organized. They delivered detailed reports summarizing everything and kept everything tracked. They tracked their time quite accurately. At any point, they could tell me what's going on with a project and where we were at with it. I have no complaints there.

What did you find most impressive about Uptech?

They take the time to think about the project and the business behind it – to understand what's important for that business. They care a lot about the work they do, about the end result for the client, and about what a project means for their clients in terms of their business needs. They are not about just getting the job done and getting paid. That's not something I find everywhere. That's probably one of the things that really make them shine – their level of dedication.

Are there any areas Uptech could improve?

They are still a small company with a young team. They are good at what they do, but they need to shore up their skills in some areas. They're not yet at the place where they can provide everything a client might need.

I subcontracted with them because what they do, they do very well. They just need to get better at a wider range of specialties.

""All around, I've been very satisfied and very happy with the work that they [Uptech] have done."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CEO and founder of an app that connects voters with politicians that support them.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with the Uptech?

We wanted to take our iOS app and build an Android version of it.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an app that was completely native for iOS. The Uptech interpreted the code, went back through it, and developed a version for Android. They also did some quick redesigns and offered many suggestions. I'm a UX/UI [user experience/user interface] designer, but I'm more familiar with Apple – not so much with Android. We implemented subtle changes to the look and feel of the app so that Android users are more comfortable with the conventions that they're used to.

We gave the Uptech a hard timeline. If they got it done within that timeline, we could launch by a certain day. It was a short timeline – doable but quick.

How did you come to work with the Uptech?

A friend of mine has worked with the Uptech in the past introduced me to Shervin [Delband, director of U.S. Operations at ITRex Group]. He is their point of contact here in Santa Monica. I liked that we had someone in person in Santa Monica that we could interface with even though most of their team is not here. We had someone here in Santa Monica that we could talk to, but the price was definitely more reasonable because the development was outside the U.S. Obviously, development in the United States is super expensive. Development elsewhere can be much cheaper, but then you risk having some quality concerns. I liked that we had the best of both worlds in the Uptech.

How much have you invested with the Uptech?

We have spent $10,000 to $50,000 with the Uptech.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with the Uptech in early June or late May of this year [2016]. Again, their pricing model is a lot more cost-effective than anyone that we could find in the United States. The quality of their work is right on par, so it's made a lot of sense to continue working with them. We've made some changes to the Android build. They have some talented iOS engineers as well.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

They were able to get an Android app developed within a month and a half, and it was a pretty quality build. They are almost entirely responsible for our Android app. I'm pretty sure it has a five-star rating in 20- or 30-something reviews in the Android store. Our iOS app has had many downloads. They've had some involvement with that, too, but it's been marginal at the moment. People have been quite impressed by how quickly we were able to get the Android stuff out there. Again, I don't use Android, so I don't have a huge frame of reference to what's the best and what's not so much the best. But, I can tell you that the app works very fluidly. It has all the components and features that the iOS app has, just similar or a little reorganized. I'm a pretty critical developer, and I'm very detail-oriented. There's nothing that I wasn't happy with about it.

How did the Uptech perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very organized in terms of project management. They'll keep you involved in that process as much as you want to be. During development, there were times when I was more involved and checking in multiple times a day via Skype calls. There were other times when I'd only exchange a couple messages for an entire week. It depends on how busy I was and how much leeway or direction they needed for certain aspects. If they knew where they were going, I'd let them go. I would just wait to hear back once they'd finished with every milestone they were working on. If there was anything specific that needed constant contact, they'd be updating me consistently. They're very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about the Uptech?

I think it's very cool that they have contacts here in the U.S. That way, we can talk to local people and still have face-to-face communication to some extent. I like that they're very game to jump on a Skype call at any time. These guys are super-hard workers because I know that the time difference for them is a little wacky. Whenever I'm doing a Skype call with them, it's 9 or 10 a.m. here in Los Angeles, and it's 8 p.m. where they are. They're always willing to work around my schedule, which has been very nice of them. All around, I've been very satisfied and very happy with the work that they have done.

Are there any areas the Uptech could improve?

I actually wish that some of the developers that I've been Skyping with consistently were here in the U.S. Sometimes, it's just easier to get a point across in person. That would probably be my only critique.

To meet EaTable goals, we had to create a fairly effective solution to the users' problem, so they chose EaTable instead of available alternatives. ### Performance management solution
Unlike alternative OKR platforms that focus on enterprise, Plai addresses the needs of small and medium businesses. With that in mind, we spent hours interviewing, discussing, and brainstorming in order to design a unified experience that would fully respond to those needs. The problem with the existing solutions was that they led to poor UX and had limited adoption. Our target audience needed a simple but functional solution. It had to be easy and intuitive to use, work out of the box, and thus have a much higher adoption rate by business teams. With this insight and goal in mind, we set out to build Plai as a solution to those customer needs.

### Eco Fintech App
Carbon Club is a service that helps users reduce their negative impact on the planet. With Carbon Club users can calculate their carbon footprint on the environment, select options to offset it by donating to the charities they care about or change their habits to reduce the total impact. Carbon Club aims to make the world a better place by helping us be more aware of our impact.

The client came to us with the hypothesis that we can calculate the carbon footprint of the users based on their bank transaction history. And offer to offset their negative impact by donating to the charities.
At Uptech, we’ve developed a process to test ideas and validate whether they’re working quickly. We’ve invited the client to visit us in Kyiv, Ukraine, for the 4-day Design Sprint workshop. Together, we specified a long-term goal and identified the key challenges and questions in front of us. The team brainstormed and generated ideas, created the storyboard, built the prototype, and tested it with real users. The testing showed that users liked the idea, but they were not willing to give away their bank transaction history. We replaced this feature in the next iteration with the quiz questions. So that in just four days, we’ve validated what worked and what not and needed to be updated. No code written, no time wasted on the detailed design. Money and effort saved!

### Anytime - business productivity app

The all-in-one appointment booking app for on-the-go professionals. It’s a mobile app that helps easily set up appointments and reminders, synchronize Calendars and manage your time.
The client came to us with the working prototype he wasn't satisfied with. Our main goal was to adjust the user flow without rewriting the entire solution. To deliver the right product to the customers, the Uptech team used a heuristic evaluation method.

We started by reviewing the Anytime app to reveal the problems, improve the app’s user flow, and streamline the user experience. Uptech team created user story maps to study behavior flows on the app and shaped user personas. Having all this information on our hands, we delivered a seamless UX with new features added to the app.

### On-demand service platform
Horizon is an on-demand freelance service in Iraq. It connects professional service providers with people who need help with their household or business tasks. The on-demand industry is quite poor in Iraq, hence why the Horizon team needed support in reviewing the on-demand market and clarifying the needs of the target audience.
In close cooperation with the client, we passed the Discovery stage. To define the vector of the product, we shaped the problem statement and collected all the assumptions in a worksheet. Then undertook competitor analysis to find out what already existed in the market and how we could stand out. Uptech, with great engagement from the Horizon team, conducted user interviews & user tests.

### Mobile App Development Packages
With six years of experience building products, Uptech has developed over 150 apps, that match users' needs and perform business requirements.

We believe that a successful app is inconceivable without knowing users' real needs and problems and communicating with customers. This is what a **Product Discovery** is for.

The main goal of the discovery stage is to dispel doubts and prove your assumptions on the app, one way or another. Based on the feedback and collected data, you can then fine tune your idea to create a product that matches the expectations and needs of the users.

In other words, project discovery is a data-driven approach to model your app.
