I’m the head of engineering at the company, and we rent apartments to business travelers looking for a certain level of standards. We also employ high-quality designs and try to provide a digital customer journey to customers. From booking, checkout, and invoicing, there’s no direct contact with anyone from our company. In the beginning, we were only thinking of getting 3–4 developers for a few weeks while we looked for people to hire internally, but we continue to work with them because they care about our company values and vision even though they’re an outsourcing partner. Moreover, their developers always engage with us, and they provide us with constructive feedback. 

On top of that, they don’t have a problem saying no to us when they think our direction isn’t right. We have good communication because they’re honest. Overall, they’re a small part of our department, but we enjoy working with them.

We struggled a bit with communication in the beginning, but they’ve been able to improve that.

Their commitment has been impressive; when we’re looking for people, UppLabs invests their time and does a lot of active searching to provide us with filtered profiles. Additionally, their management is committed to finding replacements if we need them. Their developers also work as part of a team to ensure good collaboration. Overall, they deliver good quality no matter what they build.

Due to COVID-19 there was a challenge for our team of developers to implement new regulatory requirements from the government, including many alterations in e-health. Our team was small and we realized that we would only need a few people for a short period of time so there was no point in hiring them full-time.

UppLabs provided 2 senior and 3 middle php and mobile developers to augment our in-house team. There were 14 new features that were to be added to our MIS and there was a strict deadline - if we failed to meet it, our MIS won’t be certified as the one authorized to work with state hospitals. We splitted features between our and augmented team and did some features in parallel.

We needed developers with strong command of both healthcare requirements and programming skills. There were two rounds - first we processed a technical interview with our CTO and then gave a paid technical task for those candidates who proved to be good enough for the second round. I can’t say we found the right team at once, but it didn’t take long.

With the help of their team, we were able to deliver the final version of our MIS one week ahead of the deadline.

The workflow was quite smooth - we used the same jira board to track success and there were daily calls to keep track of all activities.

The most impressive was that one of the senior developers suggested a solution for easier interoperation of our MIS and Patient's Personal Account - we have integrated this solution for our further development.

We already had a working solution web and mobile, but the platform needed updates and improvements desperately.

The project was delivered on time and it was a very important factor of the successful work for us. In addition, there were no global mistakes and bugs in the platform update and we already have positive feedback from our users.

Upplabs team used Jira as a main project development tool. So we could track the progress of tasks done, the PM was available all the time and she created detailed reports for us every two weeks. So I need to assume their communication strategy for projects is almost perfect.

During the predevelopment process, the Upplabs team can use some Q&A for customers to easily explain what they want. But as for the development process, I would recommend UppLabs LLC as a software development contractor for fintech projects.
