Unified InfoTech took over 2 million blocks of excel spreadsheet and turned it into a user friendly and easily manageable database with groundbreaking graphic design. They managed all phases of the web development with weekly video calls and a team of extremely bright and charismatic individuals who took my brains ideas and made it all a reality. 

My database hosts hundreds of thousands of cars profiles organized in a professional and easy to navigate manor and allows the user to upload pictures, comment and so much more with ease!

Everything was completed on time. They used Confluence Application to keep me informed 24/7 of changed and updates and work being made by techs and management throughout the entire process. We would have weekly virtual meetings and discuss the next weeks tasks and any input I would have would be addressed and handled before the next weeks meeting. It was truly impressive.

The most impressive aspect was the way the team took what I said and not only made my dream a reality but they also were excited and had more amazing input to drive the project further than what I could have thought possible from where I started at. 

It is hard to explain, but when you have an idea that nobody in the world has done yet, and Unified InfoTech comes on the scene to not only understand your vision, but to then drive it home in a stunning manner, it is truly awesome to have so many talented people at your side making it all come to life.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Unified Infotech could have done differently?

The only improvement I could think of (and this is more my fault than theirs) would be to explain in further detail extra features costs to the client before getting too in depth into that feature. This was mainly because I added a few features and my misunderstanding of thinking it was included in our agreed price range. They did however explain to me why those features were extra and I happily had them continue moving forward after I saw the quality work put forth into my site.

Created wireframes, presented new wireframes designed in invision, went through extensive approval process with our team as we have many stakeholders and a large team, redesigned content, UI recommended an additional color to our brand which we've not incorporated into our standard color palette.

A few of the key deliverables: A new rebranded website, a wordpress admin site that different levels of staff can utilize to update the website within our own internal process, an online style guide to help internal staff create new landing pages and article posts.

Using, Jira, Confluence, Invision and Slack the UI team had a variety of tools to help coordinate and project manage our website design.

Since our primary team of developers from UI were in India and our organization's team are located in both the east coast and central time zones, having constant email communication and tracking of the different programs was key.

We also found it beneficial for our team to have an internal point person to keep track of the project steps, which was key to our website launch.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We greatly appreciated the recommendations and communication of the new york based client service rep who was able to be our point person when we needed immediate or quick clarifications with the whole UI team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something {provider_name} could have done differently?

Clear updates as the project is progressing, and updating Jira tickets when they needed our approvals were areas that needed improvement when we first started working with UI in 2021, and in the past year (2023), they've really improved their project management style, which we greatly appreciate.

After reviewing a few proposals, we decided to go with this team. Their industry experience, personable team, and cost effectiveness were the key factors that helped us take the call.

After we discussed our vision, sitemap of the reimagined website, and requirements with the team, they came up with a curated selection of professionally designed themes. The templates were finalized, timely suggested changes were incorporated during project execution by the team.

Finally, it was time for the CRM and SEO integrations which went well and made a seamless go live.

In total we worked with a team of around 5 people including a project manager, designers and QA resource during the final phase.

The team has done a great job in enhancing and designing our website to perfection. We can see a great increase in website traffic and hoping to continue getting positive feedback and complements from visitors.

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided us frequent updates. The communication has taken place majorly in online meetings and slack.

Overall, the process of communication between two of us (the company & vendor) was pretty smooth and timely deliveries and tailored solutions played a key role among all.

They have a great website design knowledge. We appreciate that they were patient and thoughtful while we came up with some revisions. Overall, it was a very collaborative and positive experience working with this team.

We had a project manager that was our main contact person throughout the entire project along with a lead developer. This made it easy to communicate to and ask questions of. Others developers and team members were envolved but we alway new who the contact person was.

We are currently analyzing the outcome from this applications but we anticipate positive feedback from our users.

We had weekly meetings with the project manager and team. Agenda's were provided prior to meetings. Meeting notes were provided extremely fast. Slack/Confluence kept everyone up to date with any changes, questions or updates.

The team was extremely professional and able to communicate effectively even though we were in different areas. They were enthuastic and provided help when needed. They were efficient and were fast to turnaround and deliver code changes. They never lagged or fell behind on their timeline.

I’m the head of development for CQ fluency, a translation company serving the healthcare industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Unified Infotech?

We needed to create a middleware to integrate with our business application, but we didn’t have the bandwidth to do so. We don’t have any internal developers besides myself. The initiative was going to be complicated, and hiring enough internal developers would’ve been too expensive.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve researched the application we work with, which is very niche; they’ve learned how our business operates and how the application works so that they can build on top of that. They’ve developed and designed a middleware's front- and backend, which communicates with our main business application, and a REST API from scratch. They’ve designed and updated the infrastructure as needed. All the development’s been done in Node.js, and everything’s been deployed using Microsoft Azure. We’re using Microsoft Azure and MongoDB for databases.

These developments have created a new user experience, enabling single sign-on. They’ve also added a GUI interface, which allows users to make job requests, upload files, and select properties about the request. Users can use the REST API to build client systems that talk to our system. Clients have their own internal systems that require translation; now, they can make direct requests to our system without manual interaction.

Unified Infotech helps solve any issues that arise and has started teaching us how to execute daily interactions between the applications.

What is the team composition?

The team is around 10 people, and it changes depending on what skills are needed at the moment. There is a development manager, DevOps specialist, and front- and backend specialists.

We interviewed some vendors selected by our VP of Process & Technology. We liked a few of the proposals but felt that Unified Infotech would be the best match based on their thoughtful responses, questions, and suggestions during the interview. They seemed to understand the project scope and the skills needed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our customers are already using the integrations and interfaces Unified Infotech has built, which is how I’m measuring success. The project is still in production, but they’ve already streamlined the process for our customers, which is a real game changer for us.

They’ve done a really good job learning our application. They’ve taken the lead on the project and identified problems and solutions by themselves.

How did Unified Infotech perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re on top of the budget; when they’re working fewer hours than we agreed on, they request more tasks.

I like the relationship with Unified Infotech because they’ve been very patient with us. This is our first outsourcing experience, so it's been a learning experience to figure out what they need.

The development manager is always present on calls and tracks action items. We use Jira for project management and communicate via Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and in-person meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They take on any challenge and quickly create requested features. Their delivery is really fast.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Without the technical knowledge of our team, it would be hard to deploy the applications Unified Infotech is developing. If they master the deployment part of the project in a cloud environment like AWS, they’ll be able to better help other clients that don't have this expertise.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know your requirements well so you can be clear about what you’re requesting. If your project is out of the box, you may need to prepare them for bumps in the road, especially when it comes to deployment. They can overcome problems as they arise, but if they can anticipate problems, they’ll tailor the software ahead of time.

We hired UI for the initial build of the website. I had the idea and content created, but did not know how to create a platform for that idea to come through.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

UI was the fifth company that I had met with in discussing the development of the website. UI was by far the most professional, and was able to clearly show a pathway for how my idea could move forward.

While UI was the more expensive option - when I was looking at the other companies that I felt were a more reasonable cost, they were not able to show previous work that I was happy with and attempted to cut features out of my website. UI did not attempt to cut any features, but instead made a plan for how to make them possible and discussed when they would be done.

We had an initial meeting to discuss the idea of the website where we were shown other projects they had worked on, and one of which was similar to what my project is about. They were honest about the things they were not familiar with, but made a plan to figure those things out, and in the things that I knew and was good at about this project they actively sought my feedback through the project.

After those initial meetings, we were shown a rough draft, and then an expanded rough draft of features of the website. Then we moved on to a more polished draft that were interactable pictures, but not quite a website. Then we had the actual project development part where we got to play with the 'demo' version of the website and one we were happy with that, we launched the full website.

Bugs were fixed along the way, and there were times where bi-weekly meetings were suggested to ensure the project was going forward, but they respected our time and kept us involved through the whole process.

We had a point of contact for the initial meeting, and then were transferred to an account manager. We also had a senior project manager and project manager that we interacted with regularly. I've made contact with approximately 8-10 other team members during this time when it was relevant, but I could always track the team members progress and contributions.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our companies entire model is based on the website platform and the data that we can collect from the users. As we are a new company, we don't have anything business wise to compare it to, but the users are happy and word of mouth has been important to these acquire these initial customers.

We used Slack, Jira, and E-mail to communicate regularly. We had weekly zoom/Microsoft Teams meetings and when it was deemed necessary to have another meeting for something that could not be covered in an e-mail, it was communicated clearly and they worked around my schedule best that we could.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was given a website that honestly far exceeded the ideas that I had initially envisioned, and it has let our scope of understanding what is possible to expand. UI has went above and beyond in some aspects and it is not the experience that I anticipated. The team is very friendly to work with and when miscommunications happen, we both work to clear it quickly and it minimized any friction that could have occurred. I've been very happy with the level of communication.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

During the initial phases of development there were things that I thought I understood clearly, that looking back was clearly described, but I just had a misunderstanding of what some of the developments were. While I feel this is speaking more to me than UI, I do not understand website coding or the processes and they answered the questions I had clearly - there were some questions I didn't know that I needed to have, that I found out later.
