I'm the co-founder and CEO of an anesthesia coverage platform company. Our platform connects anesthesiologists and surgeons to find anesthesia coverage more efficiently, aiming to eliminate cancellations for surgeries. I am involved in all aspects of the company. We are currently laser-focused on spreading the word and acquiring users.

We needed help developing our web-based app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Topflight Apps has developed our web-based app in collaboration with us to our specifications. The team has primarily focused on development, but we've also collaborated on design. We've developed design ideas as part of the process, even though that hasn't been part of the team's duties on paper.

Initially, we had conversations with Joe, CEO of Topflight Apps, who got a sense of what we were trying to do and gave us an estimate. He later connected us with a product manager and a project manager to fine-tune our ideas. We conducted some design work using Figma before proceeding with the actual code development.

Regarding the technologies we use, Topflight Apps has leveraged Railway, Stripe for payments, CometChat for chat functionality, Cal.com for scheduling functionality, and SendGrid for email notifications.

Topflight Apps has launched our web app, and we're still working together in a maintenance capacity. The team has added a few new features and done bug fixes.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with a product manager, a project manager, and a software developer from Topflight Apps. The product manager no longer collaborates on our project, but the project manager and the software developer have worked with us for the majority of the time.

How did you come to work with Topflight Apps?

One of our co-founders found Topflight Apps while searching for software development companies. He found a few firms, and Topflight Apps was one of them. We appreciated that many people at Topflight Apps had similar entrepreneurial experiences related to what we were trying to achieve. That made us think they understood our pains, as opposed to being a generic software development company.

We also appreciated that Topflight Apps was based in the western US, which made it easier to coordinate with time zones. The team wasn't the cheapest, but they also weren't the most expensive, so they seemed like a good all-around fit.

We've spent around $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Topflight Apps in October 2024, and our engagement is ongoing. The team launched our web app in the spring of 2025, around April.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't seen any drops in efficiency or significant crashes, meaning that Topflight Apps has worked according to our expectations.

How did Topflight Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

Topflight Apps has delivered slightly over our time and budget estimates, but not significantly. We use ClickUp for project management, as well as email and Google Meet for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We've been impressed with our project manager's attention to detail. She doesn't forget anything and is accountable for everything we discuss and everything she commits to doing, which is huge.

Topflight Apps' responsiveness is remarkable; the team is usually very responsive to our communications.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The product manager situation has been weird. We started with one product manager, and two weeks later, she changed projects. Then, we got another product manager, and the other one left. That just happened overnight, so we didn't get much warning.

Topflight Apps' product management could be more stable or at least more communicative. The team could also be more transparent about what will be needed. For example, we've had to create multiple accounts for the APIs and third-party tools we're using. We've had to create accounts for development, staging, and production.

As someone new to this, it took me by surprise, and I didn't fully understand what we were doing. I understand it now, but it would have been helpful if Topflight Apps had informed us upfront that we'd need to create multiple accounts for these services and provided a clearer overview of the process.

I’m the owner of Dinero Digital. We're a cross-border remittance financial technology company that caters to Latino immigrants in the US who regularly send money back to their families. Our product simplifies remittances and makes transfers transparent.

We hired Topflight Apps to develop our mobile application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Topflight Apps developed our mobile application from scratch. The team has also revamped our landing page to make the whole process more seamless. We have an APK on the landing page so that people can download and use the app on Android. Currently, the team is working on getting the app on the iOS store.

Initially, we had a discovery phase, and Topflight Apps built the app's wireframes. The team has used Firebase as part of the backend infrastructure. Overall, they've done 95% of the design work.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is Christoph. We also work with Rex, Anastasia, Taylor, Joe, Helen, and Bajer. Bajer is assigned to answer any of my questions and meet with me monthly.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Topflight Apps’ work quality is fantastic. Their team has a desire to make things work, and the feedback they provide is great. The app has a lot of potential, and Topflight Apps shares our vision.

People have also responded positively to our application. The app is pivoting from its initial use case to a more remittance-type one. Once we complete this remittance use case, we can market it to our niche, which is migrants in Latin America and the US.

How did Topflight Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

Topflight Apps has delivered the project on time and within budget. They've done their best to reach our goals. We communicate through Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Topflight Apps’ level of commitment is impressive. The team shares the same level of commitment that I have to the app. Sometimes, they’ve even had more commitment than I do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish I could pick up the phone and call them anytime, but I have to abide by their 8–5 work hours and use Slack.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear plan of what you want to do. Be ready to pivot in case your plan doesn’t work, and understand that there have to be multiple iterations of your work.

Create a mobile application that uses a large language model (LLM) as the basis for an application  that can do the following: 

• Intake and remember information about each individual client. We would provide a list of  questions that would be answered by people who know the client well. This information  would be used to build a knowledge base about each client. 

• Allow Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), and other authorized staff to ask the application questions about the person  and to receive answers in both a text and conversational spoken language format. Speech  capability such as that exhibited by ChatGPT 4o.  

Other needs that the application would have: 

• The ability to update the knowledge base of each person served as their needs and interests  change. 
• The ability to limit access to client’s knowledge bases based on assigned caseloads and  administrative levels. 
• The ability to send time sensitive notifcations to staff.
• HIPAA compliant.
• The application will need to be accessed using smart phones and tablets (we use iPhones  and iPads in our organization, but it will eventually need to be used on Android devices as  well).

The team at TopFlight was amazing! We had no expereince devloping an application. They walked us through every stop of the project, making sure that we understood what they were doing. 
We had weekly team meetings where we reviewed progress and the TopFlight team solicited our input throughout the project. They delivered an application that was on time, on within budget, and met all of our expectations and provided excellent customer service the entire time. We hope to work with them on phase 2 of our project.

• In under a year, we went from zero to a commercially viable product. The speed at which we have worked has blown everyone away.

• Project management has been excellent.
• They have delivered everything on time--and I'm not very patient! Of course they had to set realistic expectations on timelines for what we are trying to accomplish. They have been very accurate on those timelines.

We have outstanding qualitative feedback from our members and the companies that use the platform. The app won our company two awards.  I beleive they are in-part responsible for our significant revenue growth since 2020 as the new product wins us contracts.

We had a PM that we worked directly with through both project management tools and slack.  They were highly responsive.  We had originally planned to take development in house but they far exceeded our internal teams' pace so we kept growing with TopFlight and downsized in house. They're very perceptive and inquisitive about our needs and goals, meeting them consistently.

I had many reservations about outsourcing design and development completely.  We were able to slowly shift with their team and pick up pace as needed.  They've perfected their business model with exceptional Project/Product Managment and ongoing collaboration.  It was like having a remote in house team but without the stress / load of hiring FTEs.

I’m the CEO of RoundR, a tech startup.

What challenge were you trying to address with Topflight Apps?

I was in the process of starting a company, so I needed help with development. I wanted to build an application in the healthcare industry. However, I didn’t know how to create a website or an application, and I didn’t have anyone on my team who knew how to code. I needed coders and people for fundraising and marketing; otherwise, I was alone.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I’ve mainly used Topflight Apps to build my mobile app for iOS and Android; they provide coders who can make the application. They’ve also offered marketing services.

Initially, I showed them a few websites I liked, and then we built mine around that. The marketing team designed the website for my app; they showed me comparable applications on the market, other websites that would be beneficial for reference, and some ideas on what should go on the site. Then, the coders talked with the product manager and managed everything from top to bottom.

Throughout several meetings, I gave them my vision of what I wanted for my application. Topflight Apps took all the information and designed the prototype in a couple of weeks. Afterward, they took the feedback on what needed to be changed; they helped with the layout, fonts, and every little detail.

The website is standard; it has screenshots of the application, customer service reviews, and an in-depth look at the app itself. Other than that, it has no crazy features, but they definitely use Figma for design.

What is the team composition?

Overall, I’m in contact with four people from Topflight Apps. I’m in regular contact with Joe (Founder & CEO). I also have one primary contact from the marketing team, a product manager, and a developer. The developer has helped me design the website and a go-to-market launch for the product.

How did you come to work with Topflight Apps?

I wanted to build an application but didn’t know how to code. I needed to find someone who knew how to do it, but there were extra barriers from a technological standpoint due to the security and communication with healthcare systems. I wanted to find someone who specialized in designing and developing applications in the healthcare industry.

I found a couple of companies by searching healthcare software providers on Google; Topflight Apps was the first one I talked to. They quickly set up a meeting where I presented my idea to them, and they soon told me they could make it within the timeline and pricing.

Moreover, Topflight Apps had the full spectrum of everything I needed. They had marketing people to build my website, people to make the application, and people to manage the project. The other way around would’ve been to hire one coder and pay them full-time, but Topflight had the whole service.

How much have you invested with them?

They charge a monthly fee that changes based on what I need. In my case, their services cost about $20,000 a month. It would be more if the app were bigger and had more people involved.

Most of the time last year we were in development, but we’ve paused to test the app in the last couple of months. They’re not charging me currently, but I’ve probably paid about $160,000 over the last year.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with them in April 2023, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app is already available in the market, but I don’t have any success metrics because we’re still working on the application. Since we’re not using the app yet, we don’t have any user data or feedback; that’ll be in the next month or so.

Nonetheless, Topflight Apps took my idea and had a working prototype within a couple of weeks.

How did Topflight Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

I have nothing bad to say about the project management; the process has been swift, and the team has been very efficient.

I’ve gone through 2–3 project managers throughout the year, and they’ve all done an excellent job. They reach out to me and are super responsive. Moreover, the project managers talk with the coders and do a lot behind the scenes, so I don’t have to attend every meeting. They talk to me, get my feedback, and then go to speak to the rest of the team.

We can email the team and schedule video meetings through Google Meet or Zoom. Additionally, we have a project management tool where we can see all the goals, the timeline, and when the tasks will be fulfilled.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Joe has done an excellent job. He regularly sends me emails and asks for updates on how things are going. Moreover, he’s super easy to talk to. We can set up Zoom meetings any time, and he’s just really personable, knowledgeable, and good at communicating.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They fit exactly what I need them for. On a couple of times, I’ve needed an outside service for things they can’t provide, so they find the person, get me in touch with them, and bring them to the meetings. In that sense, Topflight Apps knows their limitations and what they can provide. If there’s something I need and they can’t do it, they put me in contact with someone who can.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything that could be improved upon. They’ve fulfilled every promise they’ve ever made to me.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend communicating with the team. Send emails to the project manager; they’ll be there whenever you need them. You could go 1–2 weeks without saying anything, but they’ll talk to you daily if needed. If you have updates or many needs, you just have to ask, and Topflight Apps will accommodate you.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

We initially worked with a team, and the timeline and price weren’t exactly what we expected, leading to some frustration. We were then assigned a new project manager, who we spoke to about our concerns, delaying the process further.

Once the project resumed, Topflight Apps billed us hourly, and we paid for a certain number of hours. The project was again taking longer than we anticipated, and they explained that there were a few issues. Topflight Apps had to redefine the scope, but we were pleased once we were assigned new project managers. 

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The app met our expectations and aligned with our vision. It is not fully functional because we ran into a glitch once we deployed the app, but we’ve been happy with the team's dedication. 

How did Topflight Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

We met weekly to go over the project and discuss invoices. The delivery was delayed, but part of this depended on our decision to change our scope in the middle of the project, including the decision to include API integration.

We were highly impressed with Topflight Apps' project management. The team was open, communicative, and worked diligently.

All of the departments at Topflight Apps were not as knowledgeable, and because of that, we were not given accurate information regarding the timeline and the pricing. However, we have mentioned this, which they’re actively working on.

Topflight Apps helped us with the initial product discovery and then built a prototype of the product that is web-based and mobile-responsive. The application allows patients to track their daily symptoms, medications, and overall diet. This information is then put into a dashboard to be analyzed. The application was built from scratch with React Native, and Topflight Apps designed the UI/UX.

The team fluctuated, but at one point, we worked with about five individuals, including front- and backend developers and a product manager.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Topflight Apps was talented at taking apart complex functionality. They have talented designers and excellent developers. The team was well-rounded and had strong problem-solving skills. The team was easy to work with and responsive.

There were a few bugs in the early stages of the product, but they solved them, so we were happy.

The more clearly defined your ideas are, the better Topflight Apps can create them.

I’m the CEO of ABCDisability, Inc. We’re a startup developing an app for doctors. My partner is in France, and I’m in Seattle.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Topflight Apps?

We needed help to move our product development along. Prior to Topflight Apps, we used a freelance developer. We thought he was experienced and talented, but as we went further into development, we found out he didn’t have all the necessary skill sets. The amount of work he was doing for us became erratic because he had other things going on in his life, so he couldn’t devote much time to our project. Finally, he quit right before the beta version was produced.

We were supposed to go to a medical conference to introduce the app. Our challenge was finding someone else to pick up the project because the app was unstable; it crashed repeatedly and randomly, so it wasn’t fit to show to anybody.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially hired Topflight Apps to fix the crash. Afterward, our relationship evolved into something more complex. They eventually fixed all the crashes, and we engaged them to complete the beta version.

Topflight Apps built the app for iOS. The app’s main feature was enabling physicians to record the results of physical exams. It had all the aspects of a physical exam and several functional assessments. They also built the backend to collect all the information and generate a report and made the platform very picture-oriented.

What is the team composition?

Joe (CEO & Founder) checked in regularly with us to address issues and ensure everything was progressing. We were assigned a project manager and a lead developer; they stayed throughout the project. As we had more work, they brought on additional developers and graphic designers, so the team flowed depending on the project’s needs.

How did you come to work with Topflight Apps?

We used Upwork to find capable and serious developers. The price ranges were all over the place, so we narrowed it down to a list of developers. We were looking for someone in the US because we had bad experiences working with offshore resources.

We liked what Topflight Apps said about themselves, so we sent them an invitation to bid on the project. We heard back from Joe, saying he was interested in the long-term project. We told them they had to prove themselves by solving the crash issues, so we went back and forth until we signed the contract.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $250,000–$500,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2021, and they finished the beta version in July 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

First, Topflight Apps eliminated all of the crashes; it took over a year because there was a lot of bad code. In retrospect, it would’ve been easier to start over a blank sheet of paper, but at the time, we thought the best thing to do was to take the existing code. We did a lot of testing, and whenever we found something, we sent an email or message, and they’d respond within a couple of hours. Ultimately, Topflight Apps successfully developed the app and delivered a completely functional product.

Currently, the platform saves time and money because doctors typically dictate notes and have someone else write them. Then, they proofread them and go back and forth. We eliminate all that by generating reports that can be sent with just one button.

How did Topflight Apps perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project manager was very talented; they kept everybody informed about everything. We never had any surprises; if we expanded the scope, Topflight Apps always told us approximately how much it’d cost, and the team stuck to their estimate.  Overall, the collaboration was excellent; they were flexible and extremely responsive.

We had weekly meetings to go over the status and roadblocks. They let us use our project management app to track issues. Additionally, we tracked all the open issues using Google Sheets and communicated via Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were really impressed with their responsiveness, technical ability, and ability to deliver. They were extremely capable. Topflight Apps had resources all over the place with different capabilities. They had coders, project managers, graphic designers, marketers, and more; they were a full-service shop.

We also appreciated their expertise in healthcare. They understood our technical jargon because they’d dealt with other apps for other companies in the space.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Initially, the payment process was automated through Upwork, but Upwork takes a fee, so we agreed to change to a payment system that wasn’t quite as smooth. We had to chase late payments and authorizations, so we spent a fair amount of time with their accounts receivable department. Although it was frustrating, it was a minor issue.
