We hired Techugo to develop a website and a mobile app for our in-house team members working on our sites. We started the engagement by providing them with the initial concept for what we needed, after which Techugo did some research and rolled out some questionnaires to further understand our needs.

Techugo then started developing a website using WebRTC. The platform allows users to do video calls and screen sharing, so executives at the office can conduct real-time assessments of the respective locations. The website and web modules are live.

Aside from that, Techugo is also developing a mobile app using Kotlin and Swift. Our engineers are assigned to particular sites and provided with tasks by our executives at the office. They use the mobile app to complete surveys for installations done at the sites and access important information related to their visit.

What challenge were you trying to address with Techugo?

Although we already had a market presence, we didn’t have a digital presence, so we wanted to create one in the form of a mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Techugo has helped us develop a mobile app with AR capabilities for iOS and Android devices using React Native. Initially, we had a complete discovery phase, where we took four weeks to do a lot of research; their R&D, the product manager, and a designer were involved during this process. We then had a knowledge transfer process, during which I shared information with their team.

Then, Techugo went into an R&D process, and they provided me with technical specification documents and clickable prototypes. Additionally, they provided me with logo samples to define our branding. Following that, we collaborated with them to design the screens and develop the app.

Techugo designed 10–12 different screens and shared them with me to get my feedback. Once I approved them, they started with the development. To save time, their development team was developing the approved screens while their design team designed 10–15 other screens. These simultaneous design and development processes have been present throughout the entire project. Now, we have an app in its beta phase, and we’re still testing it.

Using the app, users can look for an item they want to purchase and choose its color and pattern. Once the design has been created, the user can try the clothing piece virtually. For this to happen, they need to follow the instructions that show up on their app. These instructions tell them to put in front of their camera and stand in a certain posture so that the app can capture their image. As soon as the images are correctly captured, the app shows the user how the clothing piece looks on them.

We’ve worked with 10–12 people from Techugo, including a product manager, a designer, a delivery lead, and their R&D team. The product manager and the delivery lead have been our main points of contact.

How did you come to work with Techugo?

We found them on Google while looking for the top mobile app developers. We shortlisted agencies using several criteria, and we ultimately chose Techugo due to their communication skills, previous experience in the space, and previous experience with startups. They were a bit more expensive than other companies, but I now see why.

We’ve invested almost $300,000 so far.

We started working with them in June 2021, and the collaboration is ongoing. We’re hoping to launch the app by October 2022.

My experience working with Techugo has been amazing, and they’re very responsive to my needs. For example, their R&D team has taken care of potential roadblocks they’ve foreseen before they happen, and they’ve found solutions for features before implementing them. The way they pre-plan for challenges and analyze things has allowed us to have a quality product without hampering the overall timelines, which is impressive.

How did Techugo perform from a project management standpoint?

Techugo’s communication has been impressive. We have daily stand-up meetings with the product manager and the delivery lead, and they shared regular updates with me. We initially divided the project into milestones for each part of the project — discovery, design, development, and testing. Throughout the different stages of the project, we also had demonstration sessions. Techugo uses Zoho for project management, where we keep track of tasks assigned to the different team members and the status of those tasks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Techugo’s ability to analyze things is impressive, as is their overall experience. When I was choosing a partner to work with, Techugo’s cost was on the higher end of the spectrum. However, I don’t regret investing more in the project; the quality of their work is worth it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

During our initial discussions, it took us longer than expected to provide them with the information they needed because we had to include AR models. Additionally, we had a knowledge gap, but we could close the gap in 1–2 weeks, and everything went smoothly after that. Now, there isn’t anything they could improve on; we’ve established a good working relationship with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you can invest a bit more money in hiring Techugo, you’ll get great results and a quality product — you won’t regret spending the extra money.

I am the founder and business developer of Sternet Smart Homes Private Limited. We manufacture Smart Home appliances that control AC systems, smart lights, and smart switches on an IoT platform for things like Alexa, Google Home, Google Assistant, and Android and iOS smartphones.

We provided them with technology-related documentation, and they took care of everything IT-related, including the construction of our mobile app, Alexa and Google Assistant actions, and backend, which is hosted on AWS. They've also built our website.

We have communicated with 2–3 people, including their manager and a designer. I think there are 7–8 people working on the project in total.

Before dealing with Techugo, I'd been in contact with 100 companies but none of them had experience in smart home development.

Dealing with IT companies in our area can be a little difficult, as some don’t deliver on time or it costs too much money, which can hurt business.

They are pretty good. Techugo has been able to deliver on time, and our business relationship has continued.

They do internal testing before delivering the product, and we haven't found many bugs.

Communication on their end is very good and straightforward. We previously worked with another agency, but there were times we weren't able to communicate with them, which is why I chose Techugo. They are always available, even at night. We mainly communicate through WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best thing about Techugo is that they deliver on time. Out of many vendors, they're the only ones that have the talent to develop what we need. They are the only ones that have recruited the talent that can work on an IoT platform.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their delivery is pretty good, but things could be a bit better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communication is very important, and our team is in constant communication with them. The communication gap is something that can turn a six-month project into a year project, so you need to keep communication. Techugo will deliver what you need.

The quality of Techugo’s work is very good. I’m also happy with their communication; they update me on everything. Additionally, they participate in workshops with me and understand our business and manufacturing operations. Overall, the team puts a lot of effort into understanding us.

They meet deadlines 99.9% of the time. If they can’t deliver on a specific day, they let me know ahead of time. We use Zoho for project management, and their communication is very good through Skype and WhatsApp.

They have high prices. However, they also have niche quality developers.

Their work is excellent, but I’m still not satisfied with the website. It’s good, but not as expected. They’ve given me the wireframe, and the site looks a little different from it, so they’ll make revisions. 

On the other hand, the app looks good — exactly how they presented the wireframe. Also, the app itself is selling subscription packages to the gyms.

They’re poor at meeting deadlines. We haven’t received the app yet, but we know why it’s delayed. They’ve communicated it to us.

They send updates once in a while, and we communicate via Skype.

Their customer service is their most impressive trait. They’re very quick to respond to our inquiries and questions.

There was a glitch on the clock that they put on the website. Also, the site was supposed to be in Arabic and English, but they only provided it in English.

They've allotted resources to us and work very closely with our team. Also, we have daily calls, and their staff is very approachable. In addition, their COO is always available to straighten out any queries because we were learning and understanding many things for the first time.

They're always communicating with us throughout the process and adapting the resources promptly according to our requests. Overall, they’re very cooperative, communicative, and committed to deadlines. Regarding tools, we've used Zoom, WhatsApp, and phone calls.

They’re very responsive, transparent, and prompt in addressing any challenges we might have. Also, their communication and accessibility are very good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The speed of execution could sometimes be quicker — that was a challenge for the frontend resources throughout the project because the parts dependent on the frontend engineer were suffering a bit. Other than that, it’s been a really good experience overall.
