They developed my iOS and Android app. It’s a native application they built from scratch. I had the website already developed but I wanted them to implement AI as well, which also required some PHP development for the website.

The application is based on travel and ticket booking. The user can mark the date he wants to go on vacation. The platform will then show which airlines are offering the cheapest air tickets and allows clients to book the tickets online. They can pay through the application. Afterward, they’ll get their tickets via email and through the application.

There were one native iOS developer, one native Android developer, two QA testers, a project manager, and 1-2 designers.

They use Zoho, a tool where I can view and keep track of the development. Techugo also provides a weekly report. Whenever I asked them to change something, it’s done very quickly.

They listen carefully to the changes we want them to make. When needed, they made good suggestions for the improvement of the project.

They should work a little more on communication.

We needed an e-commerce platform fully customized in PHP.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Techugo is our technology partner. They are developing our e-commerce platform in PHP from scratch the way we want it— very dynamic and full of personalization. We want every user to be able to design the product they want online, see how it’s going to look, and then buy it. 

Before the development started, Techugo performed solid analyses. To prepare a milestone plan for the project, they did their research and came up with specifics for each milestone. That gave us a good flow of how the project would get done and what to expect at each milestone. While we were still looking at milestones one and two, they were working on three and four. We are in our last phase of testing.

The project manager has six people associated with him who we interface with. In the backend, there’s a bigger team helping us.

How did you come to work with Techugo?

I wanted a company with a large team. I did my due diligence, speaking directly to Techugo’s CEO and meeting the team and the business development manager. We did that with three other companies, as well. I trusted Techugo to be someone who would go the extra mile for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Techugo has been amazing. They’ve never said no to our request. Many new things have happened along the way and they handled those bumps alongside the project. We went over our deadline a little, but we’re happy with the output.

How did Techugo perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had an excellent experience in that respect. Techugo’s project manager is extremely patient and consistently responsive. The entire team gives immediate answers to questions. We have access to Zoho Projects to communicate smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most important thing is they’re patient. They can handle the stress of carrying out tasks and taking extra work in stride. Everybody is equally responsive, and I felt it flowed down from their CEO. He’s a pretty calm guy when it comes to handling situations.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes, we want to buy more time, let’s say, to handle certain feedback or come back to them. Techugo should be able to give that space to the customer. Instead, there were times they were a little pushy. It wasn’t a big deal though.

I’m the manager of Oki General Trading LLC. I currently supervise all purchases in Africa. We have branches in 21 countries and I look after the e-commerce platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Techugo?

We needed help with app and web development for our online marketplace. Currently, Africa is new to the online market and there isn't much competition. We’re one of the few companies that have taken the initiative to go online.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

When I initially spoke to Techugo’s sales team, we made a draft of the entire development. Prior to everything being confirmed, I was given a few choices for the wireframes. They developed the entire website, admin panel, vendor panel, and the application. The app was built natively for iOS and Android. They used PHP for the website’s development.

The platform allows us to sell online via the app and website. It’s exclusively a store for electronic items and essentially a one-stop marketplace. It will be launched in Senegal at first and then throughout West Africa. There is also payment processing integrated within the app.

What is the team composition?

My main contact was the project developer. He had a team of four or five people who worked on the backend. I was in touch with the sales team as well.

How did you come to work with Techugo?

I had worked with another company before but wasn’t happy with their overall performance. I searched for development companies in India and Techugo was one of the companies I came across. I spoke to all of the companies I found, but Techugo was the most professional and convincing of all, so we decided to hire them for this project.

We worked with them from September 2018–August 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t launched yet but will be doing so soon. Overall, Techugo was very professional and I was given access to their personal numbers, so all bugs or issues were solved within 24 hours. We had four milestones with specific timelines, and they were all completed on time.

How did Techugo perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was really good. Things were addressed on time and I was quite happy with the services they provided. All updates were given on time and any issues we had along the way were solved in a timely manner. I was able to communicate directly with the team, who was available 24/7 regardless of the time difference between Africa and India.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were able to get things completed without wasting anyone’s time. Techugo also added things that weren’t part of the initial scope without charging us extra, which I really appreciated.

We valued their professionalism and expertise, as well as their qualified team that’s able to handle any work given to them. Their flexibility was one of the main reasons I chose to work with them.

No. Techugo will always be my one-stop service provider for any e-commerce development.

Our social media following has grown across multiple platforms, including Instagram. We’ve also seen a growth in the number of hits on our website thanks to Techugo’s SEO campaign. It’s been very successful so far.

No, it’s hard for me to think of anything they could improve on. They’ve been a class act. There is a time difference, but I can’t fault them for that.

It’s very important to establish a genuine connection. That means responding to them quickly if they ask you a question and being involved in the development process. This creates a good working relationship.

I’m the co-founder of Sterkla, which is a coaching platform. We connect coaches with people who need coaching.

What challenge were you trying to address with Techugo?

It’s difficult, as a coach, to coach people and also to manage the business side of coaching. We wanted to create a platform that would take away invoicing, collections, and administrative details and free up coaches’ time to focus on coaching people. At the same time, for members, we wanted to lower the barriers to entry and make coaching easy and accessible, and help people who are not involved in coaching and haven’t had any experience in it, to gently ease into it. Our platform facilitates coaching via video calls, so coaches and clients can easily connect across the globe. We needed help with application development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

They helped build a native iOS app, a native Android app, a web app, and a backend admin management system. The app is quite complex because it has a lot of features. Our platform brings everything from the appointment booking to the billing through our payment gateway to instant messaging and video calling capabilities all together in one place.

When members sign up, it’s free to download the app and sign up, and then, clients can follow coaches. We brought in a social post feed, and the only people in the feed are the coaches they follow. Members have the opportunity to learn from coaches in 19 categories ranging from financial or life coaching, to health, wellness, and diet. By helping people in an easy and gentle way, they start learning and building self-awareness and their need for coaching.

In addition, coaches can also create quick online courses, which are a blend of online learning and social media. We have created quick courses which target a specific topic with a clear learning objective. The content that is delivered through that quick course is then broken down into little content bits no longer than 90 seconds or 360 characters. By following coaches, receiving their posts, and taking the quick courses, clients build self-awareness, which drives the need for coaching through growth.

We also have a booking system where members can search and find a coach. We have a search function that has filters and sort options so that people can quickly find the right coach. By giving new members 90 minutes of free coaching that they can spend with multiple coaches, they can quickly get a feel for coaching. They can search and find a coach and then look at the coach’s availability and request a coaching session. 

We have a coach app as well as a member app. If the coach is a member as well, they can switch between the two. In the coaching app, there is also a section where they can record voice and text notes from the coaching session and keep a history of their client’s coaching sessions. They have a dashboard where they can see the number of followers and clients they have, the number of sessions they have done and quick courses they have sold, and how much they are going to get paid out at the end of the month. It’s a one-stop platform, where a coach can manage their entire business.

What is the team composition?

In the proposal phase, my main point of contact was the account manager. Since we started with development, I’ve had a project manager who has been my main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Techugo?

I contacted about 30 different development companies all over the world. We narrowed it down to three, including Techugo. I decided to go with them based on their Clutch reviews as well as the feeling we got from them. They had several reviews saying that they deliver on time and on budget.

We’ve spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in February 2019, and it is an ongoing relationship. We’ve had a great experience with them so we will stay with them for the foreseeable future.

We’re currently doing user acceptance testing. There are some tweaks and bugs to fix, and then, we will launch. We have other things that we want to develop with them going forward.

They have been fantastic. It has been outstanding. From the beginning, the project manager has delivered unbelievably good communication. They have met every deadline and have done everything they said they would do. From the first day of development, they started building trust.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I had some horrific experiences with development companies in the past, and I couldn’t believe how fantastic Techugo was in their follow-through. Never once did I have to follow up and ask why something wasn’t done.

I'm the co-founder of My Carbs, which is a health and fitness mobile app that helps users adopt a healthier lifestyle.

What challenge were you trying to address with Techugo?

I was trying to develop a mobile app. After reaching out to several software developers and even considering freelancers, I ended up choosing Techugo. As a professional company, they seemed trustworthy and like the best fit. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

My co-founder and I described the initial idea, and Techugo built the app from scratch. With versions for iPhone and Android, it's available on the App Store and Google Play. They created a marketing site with our address and a brief summary of the product. Based on their thoughtful questions, they understood our goals very well. As we got organized, they prepared the milestones and plan for our process. Throughout development, they contributed useful recommendations to improve our app and website. They also helped with content writing and gave us legal and marketing advice. 

The app has five main features. A cookbook includes well designed and professional looking healthy recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Along with cooking instructions, it lists the ingredients, nutritional value, and ratings. A calorie counter calculates a meal’s nutritional information when users encode the ingredients they use. The exercise section has a BMI calculator to show how many calories users should consume and burn each day. It also has detailed instructions about how to perform exercises. The only paid premium feature connects users with coaches, trainers, nutritionists, dieticians, therapists, and consultants for health and fitness. The last module includes settings, educational materials, and contact information for our available careers. Notifications send reminders to cook a specific dish or try a new exercise. 

What is the team composition? 

An account manager represents me at Techugo. I tell him what I want to accomplish, and he finds the right person to delegate the task to. The team includes designers, I.T. engineers, backend developers, the operations manager, or finance and accounts. I know the company has 50–100 employees, but I've only spoken to about five of them personally. 

How did you come to work with Techugo?

When we came up with the seed idea, we were in a less technologically advanced region than our current location in Toronto. I wasn't comfortable going forward with any of the first companies I talked to. Once in Canada, I spoke to 3–4 companies who gave quotes that were much too expensive for a starting estimate. 

I used Clutch to research other options online. Based on the insights and rankings, I spoke to 10 companies in India, a region known for its IT sector. I'm familiar with the culture, which made our interactions easy. After I interviewed them one by one, I chose Techugo. 

How much have you invested with them?

I spent about $15,000–$20,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working together since January 2018. The app is not live yet. We're adjusting a few features and hope to go live next month.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I showed a prototype of the app to several people to request their input and advice. Everyone who has seen it has given us great feedback so far. They like the organization and design, which I consider a key indicator. I haven't found many issues in the app, and they've fixed the few ones I’ve pointed out. 

How did Techugo perform from a project management standpoint?

Techugo was available 24/7. Whenever I emailed or texted them with a question, they got right back to me. Since we're in different time zones and continents, I found that especially impressive. 

At the beginning when we started, we mapped out a plan. We started the first milestone, reviewed it once complete, and then moved on to the next one until we completed all five. We've reached the first beta version. After we get to the second version, we will hopefully go live. We use Skype to communicate along with emails and reports. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

That's a good question. It's honestly difficult to choose just one. I really like the ideas they give me. They have an excellent method of thinking things through to find a better solution. I really appreciated that they offer all the services we need as a one-stop shop, even legal advice. They support me with all my needs. I just message them, and the account manager or COO will respond. Techugo is pleasant, friendly, and we have a great working relationship. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'm not sure there's anything they could do differently. Having a project management tool might be beneficial, but our current system works well, so I don't think we need to change anything.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed and developed native apps for iOS and Android that track the fitness and performance of their users. They created wireframes first. Techugo also integrated the app with popular trackable devices like Fitbit and Apple Watch. They also provided four months of free support after launch to solve issues that arose.

I directly contacted the project manager and was in touch with the designer during the design phase. Eight or nine developers worked on the project.

I searched online for development companies. Other companies didn’t understand what I needed and couldn’t integrate wearable fitness trackers. Techugo provided a demo before I signed the contract.

We worked together from January to June 2018.

Our main goal was to have a simple and user-friendly app with optimized performance.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We selected Techugo after extensive searching and vetting of five developers. We used Clutch and similar companies to review their ratings and previous customer testimonials. During the interview, their business developer and CTO were attentive and understood our goals and concerns. This inspired confidence in their firm.

Describe the project in detail.

Our app allows users to populate their profile, answer a series of questions, and then select their match preference. The algorithm then provides the user with suggested matches. At that point, both users have the opportunity to review each other’s profiles and decide if they are interested. If both users select interested, then a match is made, and a chat window opens up.

We’ve worked with Techugo’s mobile architect, project manager, senior iOS developer, senior Android developer, senior web developer, and creative designer. They’ve also provided a quality analyst and a senior quality analyst.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have successfully completed phase one of our project, thanks to the dedication of the Techugo team. Our app is fully functioning with hundreds of users.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We became one team. Techugo allocated the necessary resources to accomplish any task, no matter the difficulty. It is a testament to their commitment to customers, which distinguishes them from their peers. Customers never forget that.
