When setting their daily tasks, users desire the freedom to customize various aspects such as setting the time, adding reminders, and establishing priorities. Additionally, users seek more comprehensive capabilities like organizing tasks within projects and utilizing labels. One particularly intriguing feature that users desire is task repetition, enabling them to create a task once and have it automatically recur.
Unfortunately, these diverse features are not readily available on a single platform, and existing solutions in the market tend to be expensive. At Virtunas, our aim is to develop a mobile application that offers these essential features at an affordable price point. Furthermore, we intend to include a section within the app where users can access valuable tips to help them establish productive and appealing habits.
The primary objectives for this project include: 

• Designing the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of the mobile application. 
• Developing the mobile application for both Android and iOS platforms.

Prior to commencing the project, our team collaborated with TechCare to identify the desired features for the mobile application. We then prioritized these features, which served as the foundation for TechCare's sprint planning. The successful completion of these sprints marked significant milestones, demonstrating the project's progress.

TechCare employs the Agile development process, wherein the TechCare team meticulously designs two-week sprints in accordance with project requirements. Their consistent adherence to deadlines for sprint completion is commendable. Moreover, they exhibit a willingness to readily incorporate new requirements as they arise, displaying a flexible and responsive approach.

One of the most impressive factors is the team that works dedicatedly for the project. TechCare gave us the freedom to choose team members who were suitable for the project. The team members were technically very sound. The CTO of TechCare was also involved in the project.
They assigned a dedicated Canadian project manager who collaborated with our team to make the project successful. Our CTO is impressed with the code quality of the team members. They really value the time and input from our team.

They provide us with their own form to know about our project details more and future plan. After completing all formalities finally we hired them hourly basis, they provide working reports weekly. For what projects/services did your company hire TechCare Inc., and what were your goals?

We wanted to re-design and improve our mobile app that was created by our founder. As we do not have a technical founder or experienced developers on our in-house team we decided it would be best to outsource through a company. Our goal was to have a user-friendly platform that is easy to update from an admin perspective, along with continuously adding new features based on feedback from our users and current trends in the industry.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched online for app developers that were within our budget and noticed TechCare and their services while doing our search. After reading more about TechChare we chose them based on past projects, cost estimates, and the support and services offered.

The internal team has discovery meetings and discussions to decide on goals and objectives within the project and each Sprint. We provide the TechCare team with wireframes and designs to then take and add onto the Sprint. Within the sprint timeframe, our Lead Developer then delegates tasks to our other developers and reports on risk and possible bottlenecks.

During the sprints and as we launch new builds, they incorporate our feedback and deliver revised versions for us to review. Before launching each new feature we run it through customer feedback and testing and relay those details to our development team. Additionally, TechCare manages the hiring and HR support of the DiveThru dedicated developers they bring on.

We currently have a Technical Lead who manages the project as a whole. He works with us both on our timezone (in Canada) and on the developer's timezone. We then have a full-time team of 4 developers (2 frontend and 2 backend) and a Software Quality Assurance Engineer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have been able to fully release our app and build both unpaid and paid users. We have continually hit deadlines and received positive feedback on the overall app and quality.

Our Technical Lead is easy to communicate with and provides frequent and clear updates. Our development projects are much more organized and well thought out because of the processes the Lead has put in place. Most of our feedback and correspondence is through Slack, with the occasional meeting. Everything we have asked for has been delivered on time and we receive ample warning if a deadline is at risk for not being met along with solutions for how we can get back on track.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

As this is the first time we are creating a mobile app, the team was patient and willing to walk us through their processes while we learned how to navigate the landscape. Their app development skills along with their UX knowledge and execution on projects have been astonishing. Their ability to create streamlined processes and apply organizational skills that connect the team has been helpful.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Right now, there is nothing the team could have done differently. We are so glad to have them on this project and are excited to continue our work on this project with them.

We made an internal beta version of the app that focused on technical elements, but the UX was horrible. We needed some experts who could help us build an effective UX. We hired TechCare Design Studio for UX research and UI design.

Although our app was technically sound, our test users were confused by the UX and navigation. Some competitors had the same idea, so we needed something simple for our targeted users. Our goal was to make the UX so easy that anyone can make a payment.

How did you select this vendor?

We had many options, but when we thought about UX research, only a few came to mind. I loved the UX and simplicity of an app that TechCare Design Studio had designed and developed. I told my team to shortlisted them. I was initially drawn to them because of their well-defined process, which they described in our early meetings. After reviewing all the proposals, we happily chose them.

TechCare Design Studio sent us some questions set for requirement analysis. They conducted a discovery session before defining the deliverable and creating designs. Then they gathered requirements by interviewing us and some of our customers. That research drove the creation of basic wireframes that showed us the first elements of our app. We went through several iterations before deciding on a version we liked.

TechCare Design Studio then delivered clickable, high-fidelity wireframes that we could use to navigate from one screen to the next. We showed them to our potential customers to make sure they loved the user flow. After creating the UX and wireframe, they started the UI design. They used our preferred brand guidelines to complete that element to perfection.

What was the team composition?

TechCare Design Studio dedicated one project manager, one lead UX researcher, and one UI designer to our project. They also did some surveys and data analysis, but I wasn't involved in that.

After releasing the app, we got a tremendously positive response from our internal users and our customers. User testing surveys showed a 91% positive response, up from 13% before the new design. Our investor was also impressed by the results.

We have weekly Skype meetings and email each other frequently. We also use Trello, as per their recommendation, to track project progress and coordinate document deliveries.

The quality of their UI/UX design was much better than expected. They guided us through the design process and delivered an outstanding product. TechCare Design Studio took the time to understand our requests, which showed in their final deliverables. I appreciated the dedication they showed.

Trello might not be a good option to maintain design projects. They should think about shifting to something better. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Throughout the buildout, there were many challenges that needed to be faced. When approaching a new problem, their team stepped up and found solutions that worked all around. They went out of their way to find a data source that worked with our end goals and cost significantly less than what I had found.
