RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There were no provable measurable outcomes consistent with the proposed scope of work and our agreement as admitted and documented by Studio 12 and  Chad.  They submitted a detailed workplan with 180 tasks including admission of multiple breaches unauthroized and withheld from Monocle for 4 years.

Project management was deceptive, at best and totally incomplete.  Studio 12 immediately took secretly transferred Monocle's assets to multiple unauthorized locations.  S12 admitted building of unauthorized personal private servers and GitHub accounts without notifying Monocle and S12 used aliases and changed Monocle's passwords to prevent access to its own assets.  Fuirthermore, S12 limited Monocle's permissions and authorizations while securing full control for S12 and its proxies -- going so far as to use the CEO's (Michael) username and password but then sending messages/actions to another mobile phone number for authentication.-- thereby allowing  interception of all communications to Monocle's CEO.

As a result, Monocle filed suit in Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, GA. 

1. S12 and Chad were Court ordered in December 2023 to comply with our agreement and cure all breaches within one week. The Court stated that Monocle's inital evidence was sufficiently strong that Monocle was likely to prevail in the case.
2. Furthermore, the Court granted Monocle's claim for treble compensatory awards plus punitive damages.  Given S12/Chad's taking Monocle's assets, $4.6 million database, software costs and lost revenues is conservatvely estimated $24 million ++++++++.
3. S12/Chad did not comply with a single court ordered requirement.
4. S12 and Chad begged for more time and pretended to be cooperative to help recover Monocle's assets  This went on for nearly a year.
5. As a result, the Court ordered a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and Injunction, giving S12/Chad until November 6 2024 to comply.
6. S12/Chad refiused tp comply and, as a result, the Court found them in Contempt of Court and ordered that S12/Chad pay all Monocle's legal and IT remediation costs THROUGHOUT the trial-- and awarded Monocle nearly $250 K in damages to date as of November 6, 2024 with more ongoing penalties to accrue.  
7. S12/Chad now claims that it no longer possesesses ANY Monocle assets despite orders not to delete any evidence.
8. S12/Chad and its attorney now claim it cannot pay anything. Which begs the question:  Why would S12/Chad refuse to cooperate -- other than they monetizing Monocle's assets ?

In the meantime, S12/Chad sent Monocle a bill for $777 K for the privilege of taking Monocle's assets for its own use, which S12/Chad refuses to divulge..

S12/Chad continues to refuse to divulge the contact info of its affiliates/co-conspirators, where they have secreted away Monocle's assets or anything else required by the Court.

As a result, Monocle is pursuing both civil and criminal punishments for S12/Chad and its associates.

I regret ever meeting S12/Chad and associates.  Beware.

For what projects/services did your company hire Studio 12, and what were your goals?

Our project was twofold. First, we needed some in-app changes to our info page. Secondly, we needed web services migration. They added the necessary links we needed and then got our services switched over from our previous contracted agency's server to our own. Our goal was to streamline some of our in-app content and app server housing.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We previously used Studio 12 + Devslo to build our Android app. They were so attentive that they are our go-to agency for all things app + web related needs!

Since we had used them prior to this last project, we simply discussed the project's scope via email. Any questions, deliverables, or technologies were therefore sent through email!

I primarily worked with Mihai and Chad on this project. They were both rockstars!

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

One of the functions they added to our app helped streamline a specific part of our community: brand ambassadors. This functionality has made communication swift and easy by being built into our app.

All of our communication was facilitated through email, which was perfect since this project wasn't super in-depth. Their team was quick to respond to my questions, update me on the project, and give clarity on the project at hand.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This team was one of the friendliest, most accommodating, and most transparent teams we had ever worked with. I have worked with several other agencies with these qualities lacking, so working with Studio 12 is a breath of fresh air!

Possibly more updates on the timeline of the project would be helpful.

Whether we had a 911 crisis with a payment system, or new features added to our website. Studio 12 has been responsive, and interactive, and has demonstrated engineering expertise.

First, they work the same hours as we do, and second, they have well educated and experienced staff.

I’m the owner of a creative agency; we do branding, marketing, and graphic design projects.

What challenge were you trying to address with Studio 12?

I was trying to define my programming options. I’m not a programmer; I can’t do heavy custom programming even though I know how to do coding, so I needed to have a couple of teams to delegate different projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Studio 12 has been doing new development work from scratch. We’ve been working on a subscription-based e-commerce site that’s built on Elementor. They help us understand the tools we use on this project, visual coding, and creating templates with specific functionalities.

In terms of technologies, we use WordPress, Google, and AWS — they have a robust knowledge of how to set up and tweak all those technologies to optimize the hosting environment of our platform.

What is the team composition?

We work with Mihai (Lead Developer) and Chad (Owner).

How did you come to work with Studio 12?

I knew Chad personally already, so I knew I wanted to reach out to him when I started my business. I trusted him, and I also knew that his rates were affordable while delivering quality work, so I decided on working with him.

We’ve invested around $10,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been able to get the work done correctly while sticking to the timeline and budget. These guys are incredible human beings, and they get the job done — that’s the most important thing to me. 

How did Studio 12 perform from a project management standpoint?

They have effective project management and communication skills, which are better than other teams I’ve worked with. I can talk to them easily and get things done quickly and efficiently — they’re good at scoping the work and building a plan for it.

Chad and Mihai are easy to work with, and they complement each other to get a mix between good management and a technical-minded team — I’m confident that they’ll get the work done while having a good relationship between us. In terms of communication and tools, we use Slack and Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their wide-ranging knowledge of WordPress programming on not just coding but also on figuring out what’s going on with the technical side of things to solve problems is impressive. They’re not just the plug-in and customizer web developer; they’re a knowledgeable team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand their team to avoid getting bottlenecked and slowing down the processes of the smaller tasks.

I’m the founder and CEO of Monocle Health. We’re a big data solutions company, and what we do is score and rank doctors, hospitals, and surgery centers longitudinally — that’s long-term cost and quality for over 70,000 diagnoses.

Additionally, our company was one of the four finalists for Intel’s Innovation of the Year award.

What challenge were you trying to address with Studio 12?

I needed someone to write the code for our software and integrate a UI seamlessly, so that anybody can virtually join our platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Studio 12 provides us with custom software development and UI integration. For our technology stack, we use AWS as the main platform for our data storage, computing time, and transmission. We chose AWS because it has all the regulatory requirements for healthcare data security.

As of now, we intend to keep Studio 12 as our primary outsourced IT management team, and they will be the ones executing our code and hardware and software structure moving forward.

I work with Chad (Owner & CEO) and Sorin (Project Lead).

How did you come to work with Studio 12?

Before working with Studio 12, I’ve worked with over half a dozen IT firms that couldn’t deliver my vision for the product. I finally found Studio 12, and they were able to adapt to my requirements and be flexible enough to deliver the quality measures I asked for. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve probably invested about $400,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2019, and our partnership is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I have no complaints about their work because they’re very collegial, and Chad is honest and has a good sense of humor. I can’ say enough good things about their team, and I’ve not had any bad experiences with them at all — which is rare because I’m a bit of a hard taskmaster.

How did Studio 12 perform from a project management standpoint?

Chad is very fastidious when it comes to project management. I wouldn’t say he’s a nitpicker, but he's very professional when it comes to creating work plans and scoping the requirements.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There have been times when I couldn’t meet the financial demands of the project, but I’m impressed with how flexible and helpful they are, so they're able to adapt quite easily.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They don’t need to improve on anything. I’ve been so satisfied with their work because they’re just so generous and patient with us.

We hired Studio 12 to do a complete re-build of the front and back ends of our website. We also hired them to build apps across all platforms and devices.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We went through a full bidding process with 3 capable firms. Our decision was made based on budget and past experience with Chad and his team.

We were on an antiquated platform, so the first step was to rebuild the site on React. This also required a customized content management system. This is now complete so we are moving to the next stages which include adding new product lines and enhancing user experience, offering new technologies and features to our customers, etc.

I interact with Chad and Sorin. Sorin has been the project manager and lead developer. He has a team of developers he works with. Sorin is fantastic to work with: prompt, thorough, and responsive.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are only done with phase 1, but we have seen a measurable increase in site stability and customer satisfaction with the user experience.

The project manager has a weekly meeting with me, but more importantly is nearly always available through chat to troubleshoot real time issues when the arise.

The nearly around-the-clock access to our project manager and the speed of addressing real time issues are so unique.

We all probably underestimate the time it would take to complete certain elements of the project.

We hired Studio 12 to complete the development on a custom mobile app + wordress website combination. This church needed both platforms but wanted them to be updated in the same central dashboard. My team is gifted in consulting, design, and strategy but we needed skilled developers to fill this order.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had just met Studio 12's CEO Chad through a mutual friend. Most CEOs are rather inaccessible and not open to project they don't typically don't do. Chad, on the other hand, was very excited about the possibility of creating something new. So the deciding factors for me were Studio 12's excitement about the project, their price points, and they demonstration of their ability to complete the project with excellence.

The scope of the project was not huge, what made it challenging was that it was completely custom. The project started like any other wordpress website project. The church needed to decide on it's goals, navigation, theme, etc. However, once all of these things were decided, Studio 12 needed to double code everything to work as a website and as a mobile app, all updating from the same CMS. There was a lot of collaboration throughout the project.

I worked one-on-one with the owner Chad Wilkinson, as at the time they were small enough that Chad was still doing more project management. I also worked with their lead Wordpress developer and their lead app developer.

We were able to deliver the Wordpress website and mobile app on time with minimal bumps in the road. Anytime you launch a new app there will be some issues. But the website and app were loved by the church and they continue to use them to this day years later.

Studio 12 is very intentional with project management and communication. They use their own internal PM tools and interface with me as a client via Slack, which keeps things simple on my end, but streamlines and powerful on their end. I don't recall any issues with the timeline but I do remember them being forthcoming with unexpected challenges and finding creative solutions to overcome them.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed by the scope of the services they provide, given the size and how personable they had been. I wanted to work with a smaller dev company because I needed personal attention, which is exactly what I got. But I also needed skilled development, which is also exactly what I got.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The project I described took place about four years ago, since then I've done smaller projects with Studio 12 and have noticed many improvements such as a growing team, and better systems of communication. These were things I knew could improve and they have certainly done that.

We wanted to add features to our online music library that revolved around the ability to change metadata within the ID3 data of thousands of online mp3 and aif files - both en masse and track by track. We described what we needed and they took it from there. They know our website well so there were really no stages to speak of. They just did the work based on our requirements.

The changes have really made our interaction with the library much more useful. After they completed the work we made numerous changes to the library and I don't see how it would have been possible without the changes they did.
