Blake was my primary point of contact and I am not sure of the team that worked under him. Having one point of contact made the project very easy on me, as ideas went straight through him.

I have exactly what I was looking for: a website that is cool and stylish, yet simple and efficient. It gives clients all the possible information they may need about myself and my work without overburdening them with unnecessary clutter or a heavy-handed design.

The Brain Storm team is incredible. They truly listen to what you are looking for, and quickly and beautifully execute it to your exact specifications. When any issues came up, the CTO was very accessible to help address them. The guys at Storm Brain will also make sure your site remains secure and free of hacks and spam. It's nice to know that you always have your web needs covered.

This Shopify design and development project involved transforming an outdated storefront into a modern, high-performing ecommerce experience. The updated design delivered a cleaner, more polished interface aligned with current UX best practices.

In addition to design and development, the project included comprehensive technical SEO and Shopify-focused SEO enhancements. This covered site architecture cleanup, page-speed improvements, indexing and crawlability fixes, structured metadata updates, and optimized collection and product content. Together, these efforts ensured the new Shopify site was not only visually strong but also technically sound and positioned for long-term organic search growth.

SEO takes time, so it’s hard to see immediate results. However, we definitely saw an increase in impressions on some of our pages, and our SEO rankings were moving upwards.

I’m the head of marketing for a consumer goods company that sells health products and supplements. We have about 15 employees, but we’ll probably expand as the year goes on.

What challenge were you trying to address with Storm Brain?

We contacted them at the beginning of this year to develop our Shopify store.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had a meeting with Storm Brain to lay out our objectives and what we wanted to accomplish with the store. We shared how many products we had and all the categories, and they came back with some initial ideas of what the store could look like.

They brought back amazing designs all around; we were impressed. Then, we chose our favorite one and moved forward with it. We gave a few suggestions for different things to add or move around, and they implemented those. Afterward, Storm Brain went ahead and started to build the shop.

We have a ton of products, and Storm Brain has got all of them on the platform. The site is responsive on desktop and mobile. We’ve had a couple of extra requests to give the product multiple options. For example, we wanted a multi-step ordering process, and they’ve done it.

Other than that, we haven’t delved too deeply into the technical side. We know Shopify has templates, but everything they’ve done has been custom; they’ve done it all from scratch.

The Shopify store is about ready to launch. Storm Brain is finishing up some labels, which is similar to the process they used when they came back with the initial designs for our labels. We’re getting those files ready to print, and then we’ll be ready to go.

What is the team composition?

We initially met with Blake (President & Founder). At the initial meeting, we also talked to Leah (CEO), Blake’s wife. Additionally, Patrick (Digital Marketing Account Manager) has been our project manager throughout the whole process. We don’t meet much with the designer, so we have three main points of contact.

How did you come to work with Storm Brain?

When we started this process, we asked our friends for many recommendations. One of them mentioned Storm Brain. Then, we searched them on Google, saw their website, and were sure we had to go with them. Overall, it was a combination of word of mouth and Google search.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $75,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in January 2024, and our relationship is ongoing. They’ve finished a few things for us, but we still have a couple more.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have any numbers yet because we haven’t set the shop live. However, everyone who has seen it has been very impressed. Everything is detail-oriented, and Storm Brain is super cutting-edge regarding design styles and the latest customization techniques in development. Overall, they’ve been fantastic to work with.

How did Storm Brain perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been very responsive and engaged with us the entire time. The team is always ahead of the deadline, even when we’re late with things. We might mess up the timeline, but they can still come in before the deadline.

We’ve mainly done a combination of emails and phone calls; Storm Brain is always happy to jump on a call. If I tell them I’m trying to put something in an email but it’s too complicated, they’re ready to jump on a call immediately.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

They’re all great, but Blake really drives the ship. He pushes everything above and beyond and always goes out of his way to ensure we’re happy with everything, so I give him a little shout-out.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their designs have impressed me the most. Everything has been great, but they have so many amazing ideas that I never would’ve come up with. Even in my history with marketing, I wouldn’t have thought of them. Overall, Storm Brain has a strong team that works well together, and it shows in their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. I’ll recommend them to all my friends and colleagues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Listen to their ideas; they have great ideas. Also, be open-minded and trust their process; Storm Brain has developed a clear process over their years of experience. They know what they’re doing, so trust them.

I’m the marketing and communications representative at a nonprofit with a supplemental rate payment program. We issue payments to childcare providers across California from the California Department of Social Services.

I was tasked with establishing a website for our payment program, so I contacted Storm Brain for help. We needed their website development services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially met with the Storm Brain team to discuss our program and goals. Aside from the website, a big part of the engagement was building a portal where users could submit various data types. We should be able to export those data types and process them for payments. As a result, the deliverable was a website with a portal component. 

From there, the team walked us through the project, ensuring that what we were asking for was what we needed. They made recommendations, and then the development began. They used WordPress as the primary website platform. 

At present, we use Storm Brain’s services as needed. We reach out to them for minor adjustments to the website.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with Blake (President & Founder), Patrick (Digital Marketing Account Manager), and Leah (CEO). Leah is like the bridge between the technical and customer sides of the engagement. 

How did you come to work with Storm Brain?

Since we had a state-funded program, we were required to do a three-vendor bid. We researched some potential vendors and talked to them about the project. Storm Brain submitted their bid, which provided us with the most value. That was the reason we selected them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $60,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the engagement in August 2023, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The website has been up and running for several months now, and it provides a platform for 24 California counties to process data for over 5,000 childcare providers per month. In other words, Storm Brain’s work quality has been outstanding. Everything works as intended and promised, and we haven’t faced any technical issues — their implementation has been flawless.

From a design standpoint, the website has been visually appealing and user-friendly for frontend users. It also hits the mark for backend users who need to make adjustments as needed.

How did Storm Brain perform from a project management standpoint?

Storm Brain has met our deadlines. We mainly use email to communicate. On occasion, we meet via Zoom, especially early in the project. If we need more clarification that can’t be provided via email, we can hop on a call — they’re readily available to meet regardless of the communication style.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Patrick has guided us throughout the project. He’s been highly responsive, especially when the project has had many changes in requirements. Since the project is state-funded, we’ve had strict requirements, and Patrick has assured us that those requirements are met from a technical standpoint. Overall, he’s been excellent throughout the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Storm Brain has taken the time to understand our needs. We’ve asked them to develop a website, and I’m impressed with the amount of time they spend trying to understand the program and why we needed things to be a certain way.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The project’s cost has gone over our budget and their projection since we’re not as flexible as others in terms of budgeting. They could’ve communicated this better; warning us that we’re approaching our budget limits could’ve been helpful.
