I am the CEO of my own online legal cannabis retail shop. I sell CBD and hemp products.

What challenge were you trying to address with StageBit?

We had a big issue when it came to implementing applications to our shop. Our shop needed many other applications for branding, taxes, and other things.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

StageBit provides e-commerce development services, working in CSS. They are responsible for development and design, as well as big data and storage. Their team also consulted with us on our shop system. If I need anything, I consult with them and they suggest the best option for us. 

What is the team composition?

 I am always in contact with Rohit (CEO). I am also in contact with Rohit’s brother who has been responsible for the web design on the frontend and working in CSS.

How did you come to work with StageBit?

German web developers and designers were really expensive. I found Rohit online on Fiverr after I researched and contacted others.

I gave Rohit a few tasks to check if he would be able to do the work or not. He was able to do a few things within half an hour and I felt that he was really reliable.

How much have you invested in them?

We have invested around €2,000 euros at the moment (approximately $2,400 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with them in December 2020, and the work is still ongoing. We are going to redesign our site with StageBit.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are doing well at the moment. StageBit is kind to us. They deliver work quickly and communicate well with our team. 

How did StageBit perform from a project management standpoint?

Rohit is kind and always responds very fast. I even have his WhatsApp number, and we have calls often about things that aren’t so clear. We also use Zoom and Slack to communicate, which has been effective. 

I speak with them every three days.  Once we had an issue on a Sunday, and they helped us which was really nice. They even helped us around Christmastime when everyone was on holiday, I don’t know if they even took one themselves.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are really fast and communicative. When an issue popped up that wasn’t part of their task, they fixed it anyway. StageBit is really helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The time zone is different which is really problematic for me, but I got used to it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be straightforward with what you need. If you let them know exactly what you need, they will do it. If you communicate right with them and set the deadlines, they take things very seriously.

We have happy clients because of the speed we can get tasks done.

They are overall knowledgeable and friendly.

Not really. Most of the improvements that could be made are from my side in communicating with them more clearly.

We had an outdated webshop. Stagebit effortlessly help us with the migration of the old to the new and did all the complex stuff we couldn't handle ourselves. Implement all the Magento extensions. Making templates tailored to our business. Fix bugfixes in the magento system. Clean up the mess we created ourselves.

SOLUTION

How did you select StageBit and what were the deciding factors?

I reached out to Stagebit and via e-mail and skype-chat we got acquainted. Their knowledge of e-Commerce systems was beyond what I expected. Change requests are picked up very fast. Rohit and Mitali are pleasant to communicate with.

Deciding factor: Stagebit codes clean. If we want to upgrade our system tomorrow, no problem!

The big project was to move from a Magento 1 webshop into a Magento 2 webshop. I had a pleasant chat with Rohit about my struggles with installment of Magento and several components.

Upon that I decided to do the project with Stagebit. - Installment of Magento - Theme, Filter, Payment, Export tooling and other extensions installed

• SEO / URL equivalent to prevent loss of Google strength
• Configure the system for speed, for daily back-up, for Google shopping and other.
• Adjust templates slightly to meet the requirements of the products we sell
• And many many other things that presented themselves when we were live.

Bug fixes that apparently are standard in new magento versions. - etcetera etcetera

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

At stagebit Rohit and Mitali were managing the project. Their knowledge of the system is so good, I could trust them to delegate easier tasks to their employees. But all lines of communication were with the either one of them.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Stagebit enabled our escape from the lock-in we were in with a webshop service provider. The monthly cost of having a webshop dropped significantly (70% drop). Our IT maintenance cost have also dropped significantly.

After the system was in place and the few rinkles were ironed out, we only make additional IT cost when we run into a problem, most of the time caused by an external system or party. (ie. deliver system adjustments).

Stagebit solves these issues quick and for a fair price.

I prepare my wishes that I send to stagebit quite good. We do not have problems understanding what the goal is of the project. We do not have to communicate a lot. The lines are short so to speak.

I like it that Stagebit doesn't mind that I bother them with my noob insights or noob ideas. They have helped me by explaining why some of my ideas are not good to implement.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Trust, trust, trust. We have given the keys of our webshop to a company on the other side of the world. It doesn't make us feel afraid, it makes us feel save and comfortable that Stagebit is always ready to take over control.

Not from my perspective.

I am VP of Ecommerce and Technology at Backwoods. We are a retailer for specialty outdoors and adventure travel.

Our site was on a dated version of Magento 2 with a very early-release theme. We needed to upgrade the Magento 2 core to stay up to date with the latest technology, and a refresh of the UI/UX for improved presentation of our brand/products, to improve the usability of the site, to improve our conversion rate, and to improve our ability to rank organically.

We worked with StageBit a handful of times before on one-off projects and they proved to be very good at Magento 2 development, and also provided fast and thorough work.

Backwoods selected the theme and created a demo site with content and visual design. This was handed off to StageBit, along with our production site, to: - Upgrade core Magento 2 - Upgrade extensions that were in use - remove/add additional extensions - replatform our Blog to a new system - Install the theme - Add customizations that we required - Move the entire production site to a new server

The owner of StageBit was our main contact, as well as a database specialist. We worked via email, Skype, and a handful of video calls.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching our site, managing the frontend content and products was much easier. In addition, we've seen an increase in conversion rate on our site between 50-70% depending on the traffic channel.

We delivered a full demo site, a project outline that detailed the changes we required, and a list of currently used extensions and integrations. StageBit took that information and created a general timetline of the work required. All dev work was completed in a Git repository, so we could easily see what was being done. In addition, we had regular check-ups via Skype.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their commitment to quality work, and the integrity of the company. As with all web development projects, we ran into a few issues. But StageBit stood behind their work and we were able to resolve each issue.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The initial server environment they suggested simply did not work. We ended up going with a second option that actually performs extremely well.

StageBit is responsible for all the technical aspects of our Magento platform. When we need an update or a solution, they make sure it gets done. When something gets broken, they fix it quickly.

StageBit has done a lot for us and helped our business grow faster. We used to work with local companies, but they were quite expensive and affected our growth.

We communicate using Skype, email, and Asana. It is sometimes overwhelming, but these tools allow us to keep track of every task.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The StageBit team is fast and knowledgeable. Working with them feels like having an in-house development team. They are always willing to help and respond instantly when there is a problem.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Communication is not always easy because we both don't talk in our native languages. Sometimes, we have to explain something several times before they understand what we need. But that goes both ways, as I also don’t speak English that well.
