Collaborating closely with Speednet, we worked on developing our Identity Platform and our Identity as a Service Platform. Our goal was to develop new product features and enable expansion to other countries by refining the existing systems and implementing new functionalities. Key deliverables included upgraded user interfaces, streamlined registration and authentication processes, enhanced security features, and scalable architecture designs.

We needed developers who would help us modernize our application for event management. Our main goal was to have it built with newer technologies and make sure it’s easy to scale up and add on new features. We do the project management ourselves and hire mostly programmers. That said there is a people management need what Speednet is handling perfectly. Special mention! Since we have worked years together, sometimes there are bumps, for example some employee not performing at the expected level or us having budgeting issues. My name is Krzysztof Rzeńca and I work in RESQL Sp. z o. o. as a COO and I'm also a Board Member. Together with SPEEDNET and professional educators from SWPS University, the best private university in Poland, we used our knowledge and skills to combat peer violence.

We have created a mobile application for schools through which students report incidents of peer violence, and teachers can react, monitor the scale of violence in their institution and prevent further cases. The application is very intuitive.

Students can choose the appropriate category for the situation and remain anonymous or disclose their information. The incident is shared with the intervening teacher who can see the student panel with all the information and reports. They then assess and respond to the problem with other educators.

Speednet created an application to fight and prevent peer violence in schools, working pro bono. The project involved 16 experts, including back-end, front-end, Android and iOS developers, DevOps, testers, UX/UI designers, product owners, and project managers. The technologies used in the application development process are: React, HTML, CSS, Kotlin, Swift, Rx JS, FireBase.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for companies with similar values which recognize social problems and will go to extreme lengths to solve them. SPEEDNET perfectly fitted this description showing dedication, deep industry knowledge, professionalism, and creativity. While introducing the RESQL project, their executives expressed such enthusiasm and fascination with the idea of the system, we knew we were on the right track.

The project scope included analysis, design, development, and testing. We completed the project in the SCRUM methodology, developing the beta version in 5 months using: React, HTML, CSS, Kotlin, Swift, Rx JS, FireBase, and SCRUM methodology. It took us 4 months to get to the live version. We are currently working on the development and maintenance of the system.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

With SPEEDNET, we have achieved impressive results, including awards and distinctions, but we have also increased awareness of bullying at school. The application ranks very high on the Polish market and is gaining more and more recognition among schools in Poland. It is also in the process of expanding its activities to international markets.

Also, the project was announced as the greatest social innovation” in the competition organized during the 13th INTARG 2020 International Fair. Winning the “Pro Societas Bono” Grand Prix and the Diamond Award. First place in the Warsaw Booster'21 program and collecting the title of Innovator of Mazowsze 2021 in the accelerator program for start-ups.

Last but not least, in 2022, the RESQL team received the Prize from the Minister of Education and Science for ‘Achievements in the field of implementation activities. All this was made possible by SEEDNET’s outstanding performance.

The workflow between our companies and teams was exceptional. We noticed that SPEEDNET developers are highly adaptable and proactive, as well as effective in coping with the demands and challenges of the project. Transparency and good communication are certainly their strong points.

The system is developed on the basis of market needs, which requires high flexibility in operation and frequent changes in the direction of development. SpeedNet is great at understanding our on-the-fly requirements.

After years of development, the system was heavy and not very stable. The big challenge was to organize the entire system and correct the errors accumulated over the years. Currently, the system has gained much greater stability and thanks to the ordering of the code, further development works are possible

Speed Net has a large base of specialists who are not afraid of challenges and are ready to implement difficult projects such as ours. The decision to cooperate with SpeedNet was made due to their professional approach to our project and selecting the right people for its implementation. An additional advantage is also the great flexibility in the way you work. Thanks to the fact that programmers stay in our office and are very close to the project, the efficiency of their work is at a satisfactory level.

SpeedNet is currently the third team that deals with our project, which is particularly difficult because the project has poor documentation and the code itself is very complicated and very often not readable. Code analysis is performed quickly and efficiently, which allows you to correct errors and enable the development of functionality in the expected direction. SpeedNet is also committed to understanding the needs of our clients, which means that the results of the work are at the expected level.

What was the team composition?

Currently, one person is assigned to the project who writes the code and works directly with us to understand the system and the needs of our clients. SpeedNet has a large base of specialists, which enables ongoing consultations with specialists at times when we encounter problems that require knowledge or competence beyond the skills of our programmer. We can expand the team with new specialists at any time.

Before starting cooperation with SpeedNet, most of our time was occupied by the daily service of the reported problems and errors, which effectively blocked our further development. Today the situation is so stabilized that we can achieve our development goals and at the same time maintain the level of service at a high level.

A professional and effective problem analysis is always carried out, and then the assigned tasks are carried out reliably and on time. Communication is via slack and the entire project is handled by jira and github

We work in an agile methodology in two-week sprints. We communicate via email, daily calls, video conferences, and sometimes we meet in-person. It’s always good to have face-to-face contact from time to time.

They’re highly responsive to the changes in our products and priorities. If we have a need to get additional people to do something in order to deliver on time, they always were responsible and able to give us what we needed.

They could have better managers. I work with the developers on a daily basis, but having a main contact person such as an account or project manager would be nice.

Vendor was choosen based on the pricing, availability, experience in developing applications for financial sector. The close localization between our companies was also a small factor that was involved in the decision process

We provided the scope, API, wireframes, mocks and our internal resources like BA, Tester and PM. We worked closely with SpeedNet team to create the best solution we could with the given timeframe and resources. SpeedNet provided us with the developers both for iOS and Android that had the experience to help us with insights and suggesions as this was our first mobile application build.

What was the team composition?

Two teams consisting of 2 developers each working on iOS and Android applications. The team size in the final stage of the development were cut down to 2 people with most experience to finish the project. We still work on new features and work on improving the applications with Speednet.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have working mobile application that are rated very high and help us bring more customers to use our company that were reluctant cause of lack of mobile application. Our application is still in a growth phase, but we see that the process of switching users from web to mobile takes faster that we anticipated and we see that a good and bug-free application helps with that.

We used Jira and Confluence tool provided by SpeedNet. Response and communication was very quick and efficient. Furthermore we had meetings f2f some time thanks to the location of SpeedNet and our company

They aren't excessively formal and are very flexible as to resources and reaction time if we needed something. People over process.

I suppose there is always an area for improvement and I just have this mindset. But the cooperation was very smooth and both sides work on improving communication and efficiency together.
