The project details included a detailed strategy for users’ experience that started with understanding preferences and behavior of our target audience via research. Our next step was to develop wireframes and interactive prototypes; those proved very handy for visualizing the final product. Key output document included a complete style guide and major refinement regarding user flow - we also fleshed out complete UI designs for our site and mobile app too. Careful attention to detail was crucial for crafting a unified visual identity that fit what our brand stood for.

This change has boosted leads and we got overdrive sales at the same time, validating that on top of our expectations this redesign also surpassed them.

The work undertaken by SmartData Enterprises was of a full redesign and retrofit of our website with a main aim of responsive design being carried out on the website for desktop and mobile platforms. An advanced eCommerce system was also implemented providing for a frictionless purchasing experience for customers, and robust backend support was provided to ensure that the inventory and order management to run smoothly at all times. 
Key deliverables in the project included wireframes, a fully interactive prototype, a fully interactive website as well as post launch support to ensure everything was running well in model from launch onwards.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have witnessed a noticeable increase in online engagement as well as sales which has also added to a very favorable feedback from the user base regarding the website design and usability for the website. This feedback has lead to a substantial increase in customer retention and the amount of repeat purchases made. 
Moreover our ability to manage bulk orders has allowed for the streamlining of operations and have also improved our overall service provision which in turn has an effect on our business operations and services.

Project activity included a full website redesign of the Forward Fooding since the company had no existing online presence. These entailed detailed consultation to enable design and development, direct web design and development, integration of e-commerce in the site, integrating a user friendly content management system, rigorous testing and site launch. The key deliverables were the full functioning and responsiveness of the site as well as its ability to market products and services, style guide, design/development documentation and knowledge share/training for the Linda’s team to ensure that there was adequate knowledge for the proper maintenance of the site.

After the inception of our new website, we noted improvements in website accessibility/colors, customer interactions, and sales. This is because of order fluidity that has enhanced customer satisfaction, and the website layout that has been applauded by most of our customers. The outcomes achieved our set objectives, which were a sign of a good ROI.

We needed a custom-built application to address our organization’s needs and simultaneously make it a SaaS so we could lease it to other providers within our industry.

smartData Enterprises has been providing custom software development from scratch. We’ve gone through a planning process that lasted a few months to later begin with the development phase. In terms of technologies, we’re using .NET and Android and iOS platforms.

Regarding functionalities, the platform is a full-suite practice management for small and mid-sized home healthcare agencies. It allows users to schedule appointments, bill, and connect to mobile devices.

Currently, smartData Enterprises is providing maintenance to the platforms whenever we want to add modifications or need support.

smartData Enterprises’ project management is great. They’re a responsive team that’s attentive to our feedback to address it accordingly. Moreover, they lead an organized process through a ticketing system to ensure that all of our concerns are solved. 

Regarding tools and communication, we use Jira, Basecamp, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and WhatsApp — they’re very efficient with the use of technology.

smartData Enterprises has been providing us with iOS and Android app development since February 2020. They came in with a visual proposal and requirements based on my requests containing the flow of information from their perspective.

We have multiple apps, one of which is a vendor portal where companies can advertise their businesses. They’ve also implemented an admin portal to manage the technologies we’re utilizing, including Flutter, Dart, JavaScript, CSS, Ubuntu, and AWS. Moreover, the app has GPS integration to not only show users ads from local businesses, but also show bus locations and routes.

Benefits of ERP/SCM system: In our business timely delivery of work orders is a primary aspect that is dependent on multiple factors those needs to work in sync. With that system we have all departments connected to each other, allowing us the real-time status of orders, data flow is seamless and increased our efficiency by 70% by eliminating all manual processes.

Benefits of Real-Time Tracking: We were using licensed software which was costing us huge numbers and also reporting was giving no actual help. A lot of manual work was involved which was costing us dollars too. But smartData developed our personalized tracking system through which we are reducing our unnecessary expenses by 40% and getting real-time reporting without investing manual efforts.

What challenge were you trying to address with smartData Enterprises?

We were trying to create a personal health record (PHR) platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were supposed to provide a solution to help us manage our clients’ telehealth consulting sessions and submit claims to insurance companies. Despite our scope of work, they didn’t finish the project or deliver anything to us in the end.

They provide template-based solutions, which seemed like a good fit for our team early on. However, once we started with the work on this project, it became clear that we needed a custom solution. Once we made that realization, it was clear they couldn’t deliver what we needed.   

What is the team composition?

They changed the project lead twice over the course of our six-month engagement.

How did you come to work with smartData Enterprises?

I found them on Upwork, and it looked like they had plenty of experience with projects like ours. In addition to their experience, they offered a reasonable price. Because they were offering template-based solutions rather than custom ones, I felt that we could save on costs with their team. 

How much have you invested with them?

They ended up charging us about $20,000 without delivering anything.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them for about six months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This project had major disastrous effects on our business. Outside of losing $20,000, we had to start the project over from scratch. Their code wasn’t understandable to other developers, and they weren’t testing any of their work. We couldn’t use anything that they did. Our next development partner found that their team disabled features that would help us recognize when we were experiencing system crashes or critical bugs. 

Their work lacked quality and attention to detail. While we were working on correcting these issues with a new partner, we couldn’t accept any new clients because we didn’t have a platform for collaboration. That really hurt the business.

They misrepresented what they would be able to provide to our company. We were billed for several services that weren’t completed. Their project management and communication were very bad. We were communicating through email and Skype. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was a negative experience.

They need to be honest with their clients about what they can deliver in terms of timeline, pricing, and deliverables. We needed realistic expectations from them.
