I’m the marketing manager of Bergeron Clifford Injury Lawyers, a law firm based in Kingston, Ontario, with offices at four locations across Canada.

We had multiple challenges from the SEO standpoint. We wanted to increase our website’s rankings and outreach for the locations we service, so we were looking for a few solutions. These solutions included optimizing our website design for SEO and increasing our site’s speed.

seoplus+ has helped us with SEO and website optimization. Initially, they shared a document with us to gather information about our current status and our requirements. After filling out that document, I sent it back to them, and we had a couple of calls so that they could get a better understanding of the issues we were trying to address.

Since then, seoplus+ has helped us solve issues with our site’s speed and SEO. They’ve also optimized our site by increasing our keywords and creating content for our pages. We collaborate closely with them on a regular basis to address ongoing challenges and improvements.

seoplus+’s work has also included backlinking and website development focused on SEO. Moreover, their team offers PPC services, but we haven’t required those services yet. Still, we plan to do it in the future if needed.

Since working with seoplus+, we’ve seen a monthly 50% increase in our website traffic and visits. One of our main goals was to increase our engagement and rankings in a specific location. We used to appear on the fourth or fifth page of search results for this market, and we now appear on the second page, which is a huge improvement.

How did seoplus+ perform from a project management standpoint?

seoplus+’s processes are very good, and they’re very organized. We meet twice per month over Google Meet to address ongoing challenges: once with the whole team and once with Derek and Cara. Additionally, they’re very good at scheduling other meetings and keeping us posted about the next steps — we’ve never had any communication concerns.

As for project management, seoplus+ uses project management tools internally. They’ve also created a customized dashboard that combines information from Google Analytics and Google Search Console to show us updates and results regarding our ranking and results. Additionally, they leverage Google Docs and Google Sheets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

seoplus+ offers extremely good, transparent, frequent, and organized communication. They communicate very well and never leave their clients in the dark. Additionally, they have a very good number of team members to support different needs.

We hired them for our subsidiary brand because we wanted to spread the word about our platform's service that allows small business owners to hire freelance developers. Nonetheless, the market was extremely crowded, and we needed help with SEO to boost our position in the search results.

seoplus+ does SEO for us. They started by suggesting changes to our website regarding usability and content. In addition, they do keyword research, and based on that, they produce content for us, like 3–4 articles per month that we publish on our blog. Moreover, their team helps us promote that content on several other external websites, does PR outreach for us, and takes care of link-building for us with those activities.

In terms of technologies, we use Google Analytics and Google Search Console and provide custom reports based on the data they collect within their dashboards. We also have a platform where we can access all the metrics, which helps present the progress.

After three months of an increased number of blog posts and the PR outreach they did for us, we've seen an increase in the volume of searches for certain key phrases. Looking at the trends, I'm optimistic about the future results, which I expect to come soon.

They always remind us of pending tasks, take care of schedules, and stay within deadlines, which I appreciate.

Regarding communication and tools, we use email and Google Docs. We also have ongoing meetings and monthly calls to agree on upcoming activities; they present a clear and transparent content roadmap to which we stick and agree each month.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I have experience with several SEO companies, and I appreciate that seoplus+ is fair and they does everything by the book — we feel safe working with them because they do only 100% legal SEO-related activities. Additionally, they only use White Hat SEO, focusing on content, PR outreach, and all the SEO activities allowed. Moreover, we appreciate our great communication with them and their proactivity.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It may take time to see the results, but that is a consequence of their approach — if a company decides to go with 100% White Hat SEO, it takes time to see the results. The slight disadvantage of waiting a little longer to see the results is positive because it proves they're doing everything by the book.

Be open to their suggestions and expect they will advise on your site for improvements. Most of their recommendations make sense and work.

Our goal was to be able to reach out to companies in our area and let them know we’re here and that we can help them by managing their IT.

What was the scope of their involvement?

seoplus+ provides SEO services for us, focusing on improving our Google rankings and optimizing and leveling up our website. In the first six months of our engagement, they did an audit of our site. The team looked through our blog posts, service offerings, past articles, and awards we'd won. They also analyzed our current SEO efforts and rankings. We also provided our marketing strategy for them to get to know who we are, what we do, and what we offer. 

Since then, seoplus+ has been working extensively to improve our SEO. They've done keyword research, site optimization, and backlinking. The team also delivers content guides and briefs for us, and we write articles based on their recommendations. We also let them know about topics we'd like to write about. Recently, we've revamped some elements of our website based on their advice to make our site look and read better. 

They manage our Google Business Profile and have direct access to our website's backend to improve its SEO, and they do some light coding on it. For example, they've helped us optimize our website's graphics. Although our internal team is in charge of our site's graphics, some of them require coding knowledge, and seoplus+ has helped us make those changes. 

Their current strategy focuses on improving our ranking for keywords such as 'IT support' localized to our specific markets. We've recently given them a list of new keywords we want to focus on based on their research, and seoplus+ is adding that to our Google Business Profile. We've been working on content briefs to update our articles and website content. 

They're also working on an additional project related to our backlinking strategy. Their PR team works with us, contacting our in-house experts for article content. seoplus+ constantly gives us guidance and advice to improve our website.

My main point of contact is Derek (Sr. Account Manager). We also work with Cara (Account Coordinator) and Corey (SEO Specialist). Aside from them, we've spoken to a couple of other teammates in the content coordinating and PR teams.

I found them on Clutch when googling 'top SEO agencies in Canada;' they were one of the companies featured on the site. I looked at seoplus+'s reviews and testimonials from previous clients. Then, I went to their website to see their mission, vision, and the services they offered. From there, we reached out to their business development manager and had a conversation that left a good impression on us. We met with other teammates and realized we were similar companies. 

At the time, we compared them against 2–3 other agencies and reached out to them to get some pricing. We also did our own research to decide what provider would be the best for us, and seoplus+ came at the top in terms of price and compatibility, so we decided to put our trust in them.

Since the start of this engagement, we've seen significant improvements in our SEO; within 3–4 months, we started to notice some changes. We monitor our Google rankings through seoplus+'s dashboard and googling the keywords ourselves, and our rankings have been going up slowly but steadily. We also monitor results through Google Analytics as a third-party dashboard, and they match up. 

Their work has also helped us generate leads. We've been getting a steady amount of phone calls and emails from prospective clients who want to work with us. Every time we ask where they found us, they say it was through Google, which means the SEO is working. 

SEO is a long game, and getting results is taking longer than I expected. However, I don't think any other agencies would get there any faster than seoplus+. They work hard to ensure we achieve our goals and are very easy to work with. They understand us, and because of that, we've been able to build a good relationship. I'm glad that I picked them over other agencies. 

How did seoplus+ perform from a project management standpoint?

They always stay on budget. When we want additional work for the project, they never jump the gun; they offer a proposal and let us decide if we wish to move forward. We've never felt like they want to take our money without doing anything. 

The team is very open to feedback and communicates very well. Since they live on the other side of Canada, we've never met them in person. We have a monthly meeting via Google Meet to give each other updates, follow-ups, and to-do lists. In addition, we correspond through email about the to-do lists and digital reports. We communicate constantly; if either of us has any questions, we send each other an email.  

Overall, we have a good working relationship with them; the people we've worked with are pretty good. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm impressed by seoplus+'s open communication; they're very honest. If we have questions, they're always very helpful. For example, Derek has gone out of his way to educate my team and me on Google Ads. He took some time to analyze our account, even though it was outside the scope of work and gave us some good recommendations. Although he offered to manage it for us, he didn't push us to sign up for that additional service and left the decision to us. Overall, they have a great attitude. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Our monthly meeting is always about half an hour, and I wish we could have a full-hour meeting to get a bit more from that. However, I also know they're very busy, and they're always open to having additional meetings. 

Because they're SEO experts, they try their best to leave out the technical jargon and explain things in a way a non-expert can understand. Still, there are times when we don't know what they're talking about. We can always tell them that, though, and that's where open communication is also very helpful. Although we've run into some issues here and there, they're always open to educating and explaining things to us. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to go in with an open mind and be assertive with your goals. The seoplus+ team is very smart, capable, and good at what they do, so you should have a little faith in them. Initially, we were very impatient and wanted to rank at number one right away, but SEO is more of a marathon than a sprint. 

You should have patience with the team, and hopefully, you'll see the results you want within six months. Sometimes, you won't see results so fast; that's not anybody's fault, just the reality of the digital space.

What was the scope of their involvement?

seoplus+ provides us with SEO consulting services. They help us with three portions of SEO: technical, on-page, and off-page SEO. For the technical side, they identify things we can change on our website to improve our organic search rankings for keywords we’re interested in ranking for. As for on-page SEO, the team provides recommendations on content changes on our website to make it more appropriate for our keywords. Off-page SEO involves link-building between our site and other websites.

We’ve primarily focused on fixing our technical SEO issues regarding the structure of our site. We recently refreshed our website’s look and asked them to do a general audit once the site was up and running in May 2022; this was a milestone in our engagement. Since then, we have met with them monthly and come up with a series of tasks; they provide us with guidance, and we try to complete our tasks before the next meeting. As for tools, they use Semrush to run reports. 

Our company offers several solutions with different products underneath them. The primary solution we wanted to focus on was our transportation solution, which targets companies with their own fleet of trucks in any industry. seoplus+ focuses their efforts on increasing traffic from transportation companies or large companies with their own logistics to engage with our content.

We work with Cara (Account Coordinator) and an SEO specialist who produces the reports. Additionally, we have Derek (Sr. Account Manager), who joins our calls and is the person I’d talk to if I wanted to open a new project.

I joined the company in January 2022, and seoplus+ was already working for us; my predecessor hired them.

They’re on a retainer, and we spend about $3,500 monthly with them for eight hours of SEO consulting. For our current project, we’ve spent around $20,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2021, and our current project began in May 2022, when our new website launched. Our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

When we changed our website, we expected a 30% drop in our traffic just because it was a significant change, and we expected it to take six months to win it back. Thanks to seoplus+'s work, we only saw a 25% drop, and it took us 70–80 days to start recovering. Although someone that doesn't know about SEO could take that as a bad result, that's exceeded our expectations for SEO growth after a website relaunch. 

Moreover, seoplus+ works well with us: they're very consistent and provide good recommendations. However, we haven't been able to follow through with some of their best advice, and we've had some internal issues with tracking. Nevertheless, seoplus+ is a great agency to work with.

They deliver items on time, respond to our needs, and stay within our budget. Our primary form of communication with them is through Zoom meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm impressed with seoplus+'s exceptional technical SEO knowledge. The teammates working on our project are well-experienced. Moreover, their level of ownership over our results exceeds most agencies'. We've told them we're happy with the results, but the team isn't — they want to do more. 

Additionally, the fact that they're local is quite useful because our market requires localized knowledge. I'd recommend them to anyone because they provide the best advice; they're the best agency I've worked with so far.

I'm the director of sales and marketing at AMBICO, a manufacturer and distributor of specialty, commercial, and industrial-grade doors, frames, and windows. 

Our products typically meet performance rating standards, so they are acoustic-resistant, blast-resistant, bullet-resistant, radio frequency-shielded, and more. We also manufacture our products with decorative materials, such as stainless steel, brass, and bronze.

What challenge were you trying to address with seoplus+?

We needed help trying to improve our organic online reach and driving our SEO. Our team also needed some assistance in digital marketing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

seoplus+ is improving our website’s keyword structure — they ensure we have good content on our website and social media pages. Their team reviews and offers edits to our video and photo content, while our team handles the technical aspect.

Additionally, seoplus+ is managing our paid ad campaigns on Facebook and LinkedIn. They’re also enhancing our WordPress website — we provide the content and develop its layout and landing pages. 

What is the team composition?

Their team consists of a team lead, SEO specialists, content creators, and web developers. At any given time, 3–4 resources are working on our account.  

How did you come to work with seoplus+?

Our former marketing coordinator took a course where seoplus+ was the speaker, and they connected at the event. The coordinator recommended them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

We’re spending around $1,500–$2,000 CAD (approximately $1,200–$1,600
USD) a month.

What is the status of this engagement? 

We started working together in September 2017, and it’s ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve seen our search rankings, leads generation, and sales conversion trending up. Metrics ebb and flow for various reasons, including Google’s constant play with their algorithms. It’s not a direct line, but we’ve seen significant improvement. 

We don’t have a way to measure our return on ad spend. We had paused our paid ads campaigns for a while after realizing that its cost per conversion was high. However, that pause harmed our organic traffic. We think people get to us through our paid ads, but they don’t immediately convert. They come back sometime later, but they eventually convert. 

How did seoplus+ perform from a project management standpoint?

We meet monthly through a video conference to review our SEO performance and any ongoing trends. 

We didn’t have any problems with their scheduling. However, there has been a cost escalation on our web development project because of some scope creep. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

seoplus+ is good at communication — we don’t have to reach out to them to make sure they’re on task. We have regularly scheduled meetings, which allow us to grasp what they’re doing and its impact on our programs. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could make sure that their client understood the project’s scope to avoid cost escalation.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be as clear and thorough as possible about the engagement to allow both sides to understand the project scope clearly. That said, seoplus+ has been good with communication, and it’s one of the reasons why we do well together.
