We found Rondesignlab through a freelancing website. After making a shortlist of different design and UX companies, we sent those companies a project description to see how they would respond. We liked Rondesignlab’s answer the best and gave them a smaller project. Since we were happy with their work, we began the larger project with their team.

The project cost between $20,000–$30,000.

How did Rondesignlab perform from a project management standpoint?

At the start, we had to learn how to communicate with each other, but after that, not a lot of management was required. We received continuous delivery of the work and gave them constant feedback. Skype was our main communication tool, but we had another software that allowed us to send designs back and forth.

We’ve happily continued our engagement with Rondesignlab, working with their team on different projects.

They helped us raise our seed round funds, led by General Catalyst and other VCs. We were so happy with their work. We ended up getting thousands of emails from the website because their design features a prominent email sign up form.

Our key point of contact was awesome to work with. It was easy to communicate with him and he was always responsive. The whole team paid close attention to detail.

Rondesignlab’s speed and quality of delivery were better than most agencies.

There's always room to improve, but I loved working with them. In fact, we’re hiring Rondesignlab again right now.

I’m the CTO of The Naga Group AG, a FinTech company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rondesignlab?

We were building a new exchange for virtual goods, such as game items. We had a good connection with the German stock exchange, and they were interested in extending their exchange functionalities, including the exchange of virtual goods. We were looking for a partner that could create a modern design for our products.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed exceptional design and UX for this virtual exchange. There were several competitors on the market, and our idea was to create outstanding products with extraordinary UI/UX. Our developers built the core functionalities, and we provided pictures and scripts for how the design should work. For example, if a user pressed a button, a window would appear and display the given information.

What is the team composition? 

We worked with around 3–4 people from their team. We discussed the terms of the collaboration and basic workflow with Ron (Co-Founder, Rondesignlab), after which we worked with his designers.

How did you come to work with Rondesignlab?

We searched for a partner that had experience with projects like ours, and we found Rondesignlab. We had two main criteria. First of all, we wanted to find a company with a good portfolio of shops, exchanges, and virtual markets. We needed someone with good experience in this area because it was new for us. The second criterion was price. Rondesignlab had a reasonable price as well as a good portfolio. The collaboration with Rondesignlab was exceedingly successful.

How much have you invested with them?

Their typical hourly rate is $50–$70. That’s an extremely competitive rate.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Rondesignlab between February–August 2017. This was our first project together, but we’ve had several others with them since.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Rondesignlab delivered the project successfully and for a fantastic price. Everything was perfect. They have remarkable R&D skills.

How did Rondesignlab perform from a project management standpoint?

They started the project after a two-week research period, and we worked with them daily after that. We exchanged proposals, deliverables, and feedback continuously. They provide great communication. We had a great time developing the UI.

Everything was done professionally and well. We didn’t experience any delays or bureaucracy from their side. Contract and payment matters were solved directly with Ron, and the professional design questions were solved with his designers. Rondesignlab always made accurate estimates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rondesignlab isn’t unique, but other agencies charge 10–20 times the price. Rondesignlab does a great job for a small price. They have an excellent price to quality ratio. They wouldn’t be a good fit for an enterprise-level company, but they’re perfect for startups and small companies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything was seamless, fast, and completely satisfactory for us, so I have no recommendations to give.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If the client is looking for a solid, modern design for a reasonable price but without any genius or alternate visions, I can 100% recommend Rondesignlab. If they have a special, unique vision, it may be better to find a partner that has more specialists in place. Rondesignlab is ideal for ordinary projects like small markets or one-page shops.

Our company was building a cryptocurrency wallet for corporations. I’m the CTO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rondesignlab?

Our main issue with this wallet was getting the pipelines and background functionality working within a short timeline. We had high expectations, and the product had to look amazing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The product is an online cryptocurrency wallet that operates similarly to other exchanges. The first step was to wireframe the product based on the sensibilities and experience of our target user. We wanted to make sure usage came with a very low learning curve. That part took three weeks to a month and was very thorough.

Once we agreed on wireframes, we gave them all our marketing content, logos, and everything else we use in that array. They incorporated our color coding into the designs within a week, then returned with two or three different design concepts. We took them back to our stakeholders and gave our feedback. The result looks very innovative, but also very simple.

What is the team composition?

I work directly with their team lead.

How did you come to work with Rondesignlab?

They extracted what we wanted and put all of that into the final product. We decided to spend the extra money, and we went with a company that had experience in the cryptocurrency space. I went through 20-30 other designers, and they were definitely the best.

The products cryptocurrency users are familiar with are very different from the mainstream. I started by looking at design sites with providers who had experience with those products. I spoke with a vendor database that provided a few options. The key thing that sold me on Rondesignlab was their previous experience in cryptocurrency. One of their previous products was an exchange that was very similar to what we wanted, which was the primary reason we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

Over a little more than two months, we spent about $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from about August-October 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Customers love the look and feel of the product, and the initial reactions are always about the design. We're still working through bugs, but that's not on Rondesignlab. Customer response is a testament to how great their design is, and I want to hire them again for our next product.

How did Rondesignlab perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very good project managers. There was a six-hour time difference, but we spoke once a day for about 15 minutes. Every day, they delivered what they promised. If there was ever a delay, they gave notice and always had a good reason. They're better organized than I am. They set realistic expectations from the beginning, and they fulfilled all their promises. This was a two-month project, and we only had two days with any kind of delay.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're thoughtful, and they take criticism well. Their unique talent is in their ability to extract goals and ideas and put them into an excellent final product. Their portfolio demonstrates a lot of wow factor that their competitors lack.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My only criticism of their work is their grammar. Our interactions had a lot of spelling mistakes or inaccuracies, but those never made it into the final product. Other than that, they were always flexible and never missed a call. They're pleasant to work with, and I liked how well they managed expectations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be comfortable with giving criticism and explaining everything. They're very thoughtful, but it's important to explain both what you want and why you want it. Detailed communication really helped us get an excellent product.

Rondesign Agency designed the user interface for our software, so that we could give it to the programmers who were working alongside them. We sent them some drafts and a document describing the individual features, and Rondesign  did the rest of the work. They were able to complete the work in two months, staying within our timeframe.

We had a lot of complex features and we wanted our users to understand those features and be comfortable operating the software. Rondesign Agency met all of our needs. Our internal team is happy with both the design and the logo they’ve created.

Plan in advance and know your timeframe. It took us some time to figure out our schedule before we could include it in the contract.

Their team provided a clearly defined roadmap that we could always refer back too which featured our discovery phase, our sprints, along with other micro updates as things went along. This overall was incredible.

Everything was on time and as expected, they even worked with my time towards the end of the project as my hours got tricky.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Even though I provided a sample of what I was looking for, the team went ahead and did a third option which blew me away. The first two were almost exactly what I was looking for. But, the third option was something unique and fresh, something I dont think I would have ever thought of. This by far was the best part of the experience. I've worked with other smaller vendors on things non-design related and there was just something about having an entire team care for your project that really feels like your money is going to good use.

If you're looking for cheap, fast, and someone who just looks to turn out jobs like an assembly line, then these guys may not be it. They take time to learn about your project, your market, your overall trajectory to ensure that you are being set up for success from day one. Feels like a strong foot to lean forward into now and I look forward to what can come as we seek to develop the entire app.

None really, they worked with my timezone, they were clear with what was to be expected after they finished the discovery. I had initally chnaged my mind for what I was looking for and the team quickly adjusted to take on the different scope of work.
