Very organized and have a "can do" attitude. If the team isn't sure about how to do something, they will do whatever they can to figure it out and communicate along the way. They are also very organized and I feel confident that they won't let anything slip through the cracks.

No - Rapid Dev did a good job at adapting based off of our feedback. In the beginning, we had some feedback that we felt could improve our experience working together and the team responded to that feedback so quickly. Since then, working with the team has been so smooth and productive.

Their development team gave us weekly video reports of the work that was done. They were always in communication and easy to get ahold of via email. Always felt supported by their team and like they would be there for us if we needed them. Once we rolled out to clients and had immediate needs, they were there to help support us with that as well. Hard working, honest, kind, and patient. Would recommend!

I’m the founder and chairman of the board for Do Good Movement, a donation platform for charitable donations.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rapid Dev?

We needed their team’s development expertise.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rapid Dev helped develop an MVP of our donation platform, which was a web app. In the initial phases, we agreed on the scope of the solution. Then, my company’s designer and I started designing the platform; we touched base with Rapid Dev throughout this process but mostly completed the design ourselves. 

Once we were ready, we sent the design over to Rapid Dev for us to review together in Figma; we looked at the logic and workflows. Then, Rapid Dev built the platform using a software program called Bubble. As they finalized the platform, we began the testing phase. Rapid Dev finished development, and we’re now making small tweaks. 

The platform enabled users to find NGOs with proven solutions that are scalable and impactful. When users donated to these solutions through our platform, they got a login with a dashboard that tracked the lifetime impact of all their charitable donations. Through the dashboard, they could see how many kids had been enrolled in vaccination programs, how many mosquito nets had been funded, and how many people had access to safe drinking water, for example.

What is the team composition?

There was one teammate there throughout the whole project, and the others have changed. There were 2–3 project managers, a lead developer, and a team of developers behind the lead.

What is the status of this engagement?

I had the first conversation with Rapid Dev in December 2022, but they provided development support for this project from February 2023–June 2023.

How did you come to work with Rapid Dev?

I sent an RFP out to a number of agencies that work with Bubble, and we received 70 responses. One of the responses I really appreciated was Rapid Dev’s; they made a small video saying that they could help and would love to have a call. We spoke a few times before I chose to work with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Rapid Dev built exactly what we wanted. The product wasn't launched yet, and it was hard to tell exactly what was implemented in the backend, so I could only speak to the quality of the frontend. Rapid Dev guided us on where it makes sense to change our design and logic. They were great at challenging and supporting us.

How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything was good. We used super-detailed Figma files to share the platform’s designs; we also used Slack for communication. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rapid Dev did exactly what they said they would do, which was great. They were very fast at getting back to us and helping us, and it was easy to collaborate with them.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I'd like to thank the whole team. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’d be nice to know how Rapid Dev built the backend. I’m not uncomfortable, but I’m not completely comfortable with the documentation around that.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Think through exactly what you want before enrolling a third-party development team. Document all the features, flows, and ways you want users to interact with the product; this will make it easier to work with developers and is a necessary prerequisite before doing so. If you don’t know what you want, you’ll waste a ton of time.

Rapid Dev has been helping us with custom software development from scratch and continuing to advance it in the early stages of our company. We’ve started with a discovery process where I sit down with a project manager from Rapid Dev’s team to let them know what I’m looking for and provide the early designs and documentation. After that, they organize the information and share it with the rest of the staff.

Regarding the platform’s functionalities, the product is a basic booking portal where users can log in, look at the providers, and book a session with them, which they can also cancel or reschedule. In terms of technologies, they’ve built the product on Bubble — we’re looking for a low-code no-code platform.

Currently, they’re helping us integrate more features into the platform based on customer feedback.

Rapid Dev’s work, we now have an active platform with paying customers that use the product. We’re currently providing our services to several companies that give that coverage to their employees.

How did Rapid Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

Rapid Dev’s team is extremely responsive and works hard to understand our needs, enabling them to bring great recommendations for new solutions quickly and affordably. They also adapt to our scope and timeline changes — this is great for new startups. Regarding communication, we use email, video calls, phone calls, and Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rapid Dev’s personable approach is the best feature of their work. Matt is fantastic at communicating and is quick to align with our type of company. In addition, they’re organized and efficient with time, enabling us to get through several things on a single call quickly.

Understand what you want to build, and realize that, as you start to develop it, you have to be proactive and communicative with your change requests — Rapid Dev does a great job understanding your needs. Moreover, be prepared to do testing from several people to take their feedback and ensure a bug-free platform.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately we had to cancel the project after a few weeks of working together during which we went through an internal pivot that made the original tool redundant. However, during those few weeks Rapid Dev were really excellent partners. They came well-prepared to every meeting, delivered the work they committed to at a very high quality ahead of schedule. We never had to chase or nudge them, they were always ahead of agreed goals and driving the project forwards. 

They very quickly understood our brief, came to meetings well-prepared with questions where they didn’t understand our intent, and followed up quickly with excellent products. Their wireframes and user journeys perfectly captured our intended product and were produced at a very high quality, and their design mood boards and samples were exactly what we wanted.

While we didn’t follow the project to completion (again, through problems on our side not theirs) and therefore can’t speak to the quality of the final product we have no doubt that it would be at the same high quality bar as the early outputs. The team were also very understanding and flexible during a period of uncertainty when we weren’t sure whether we’d be able to continue with the project or not and were clear and understanding in their communication throughout. We couldn’t recommend them more highly and will certainly use them in future for any similar work given our very positive interaction so far.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rapid Dev built our online platform for our users and clients — it’s a web app. Initially, I wrote everything I wanted the platform to be. Then, I met with their owner and their COO, and we went through my requirements. The meeting lasted around 60–90 minutes, during which we talked about the features I wanted.

After the scoping session, Rapid Dev laid out the entire process. Then, they created a mock-up using Figma. Finally, they built the platform on Bubble.io.

How did Rapid Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

Rapid Dev was very fast, and the project went smoothly. They delivered within budget, although I ended up paying more than originally desired because I added features along the way. Moreover, their COO was great. From the start, I told them that I wanted an update every Friday on the status of the project, and every Friday, the COO sent me a Loom video showing their progress and how the platform looked.

Besides Loom, we mostly communicated via email, and Rapid Dev’s communication was perfect. They got back to me quickly and answered all of my questions. Additionally, I was able to put notes and request changes over Figma.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rapid Dev was very skilled. I’m not a tech-savvy person, so they were very generous in explaining what was possible and what wasn’t. Their team also helped me come up with ideas for creating and making the site better. Overall, they went above and beyond their line of duty, and they were very nice people to work with.

There’s nothing Rapid Dev could have improved on; I was happy with them.

The process will go much smoother if you have a clear picture of what it is you want them to create — be very detailed about what you want. Additionally, they’ll help you make your product better, so be open to their input.

Rapid Dev has provided web app development for us, using Bubble as their main technology. We’ve started by meeting with Matt (CEO) to do an initial scoping exercise, which has led to a full-development project of an MVP, taking into account the specs that our internal UI/UX designer has delivered to them. They’ve also worked with our in-house engineer to help us understand what functionalities we should prioritize before launching our MVP and which ones could wait for a second iteration of the system.

In terms of functionalities, the platform has custom-built surveys and a learning management system. Still, we’re currently working on adding new features to the product.

I’m the co-founder and product lead of Coleap. We’re a startup that offers a social learning platform that allows experts to record learning courses and run them in a community and project-based learning platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rapid Dev?

When we raised our first funding round, we wanted to develop our platform’s MVP. We were looking for a no-code agency since we didn’t have an in-house development team and needed to complete this project quickly.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the discovery phase, we had meetings with Rapid Dev where I explained our project's requirements and what we wanted to achieve. On the other hand, Rapid Dev explained to us what could be accomplished using no-code development. They worked closely with our in-house product designer. 

Initially, we provided a rough product design, and Rapid Dev developed from there. The learning platform features a curriculum builder where teachers can upload their experience, create a learning path, send automatic emails, and track their students' progress and deliverables. On the other hand, students can search through the course directory and watch the recorded lessons.

Rapid Dev built the MVP in 2–3 months using Bubble. After that, they created the first version of the platform, which allowed us to launch the first courses in September 2021. We then hired an in-house development team to build a more robust platform. From October–December 2021, Rapid Dev worked with our in-house developers to fix the issues from the first iterations.

What is the team composition?

I worked most closely with Matt (CEO) and Anna (COO). Anna coordinated Rapid Dev's developers, and although I didn't work directly with them, I believe two developers worked on our project.

How did you come to work with Rapid Dev?

We reached Rapid Dev through Bubble, a no-code platform. I posted about our project looking for a no-code agency, and Matt reached out to me directly. We explored several other agencies at the time and ended up choosing Rapid Dev. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around €50,000 (approximately $54,000 USD) with Rapid Dev. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June–December 2021. We worked full-time from June–October 2021 and in a part-time modality of around 20 hours a week from October–December 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Initially, we ran 5–10 courses on the platform’s first version, which supported 500 users at the time. Most of our revenue during that time was from the learning courses. 

Rapid Dev helped us fix bugs, and someone was always available to help. During the launching of the platform, they were available to help us and fix any issues, and we also had a backup plan.

Overall, Rapid Dev really engaged with us from the beginning of the project. They ensured they understood the kind of platform we wanted to build. Rapid Dev gave us a lot of insight and suggestions to fix the challenges we faced during the project. 

How did Rapid Dev perform from a project management standpoint?

Rapid Dev was great at communication. I always had a clear understanding of our timeline and budget. We kept close communication through Bubble and Zoom meetings. We also used Loom to record videos and Notion for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed with Rapid Dev’s communication. I’ve worked with other agencies before, and I really liked that we had close communication throughout the project. 

Moreover, Rapid Dev was great at helping us understand our problem and the different approaches to resolving it. In fact, Rapid Dev has worked with 3–4 of our investors. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for Rapid Dev to improve. The challenges that we had during this project weren’t because of them but related to the technology we used and other factors that forced us to take different approaches.

I recommend you trust Rapid Dev’s expertise. Use their experience to your advantage and understand your project’s possible outcomes. If you involve Rapid Dev in your project from the beginning, you’ll get a better product.
