We needed this animation for two key reasons. First, it allows us to explore how to communicate our mission and core value proposition in a fun and engaging way. By creating an imaginary world, we can guide our audience through different dimensions and convey, at a high level, what our brand stands for and how it benefits users. Second, the animation will help us refine our visual identity as we enter a new stage in our organization’s journey. We want to ensure that our emphasis on game-making and future readiness is at the forefront of our identity, presented with a unique and modern approach that aligns with our values. In addition, the animation assets will serve as a creative foundation that can inspire multiple elements across our digital ecosystem, from our website and social channels to learning experiences and partner-facing materials.

The project demonstrated progress and success in two measurable areas:

Clarity of Message: Survey and feedback responses showed improved understanding of our mission and core value proposition. Audiences reported stronger recall and recognition of our brand themes, especially around game-making and future readiness.

Brand Development: The refreshed visual identity has been adopted across key digital assets, strengthening consistency. Animation assets are now being reused across the website, presentations, and social channels, creating a modern and cohesive look and feel.

The scope of work ballooned aggressively during this project, moving from [1] 60s horizontal video to [1] 90s video and [1] 30s vertical cutdown. Pigeon's designers, project management, and creative directors were more than able to handle these additions with grace and kindness. Their patience and creative lens were irreplaceable for this project and the final asset was far better than we could have imagined!

We approached the Pigeon Studio with a proposal to create for us an animation, telling the story of a very important figure in the history of our Museum and the city of Krakow. We provided the team with the necessary knowledge and visual materials, which they perfectly used as a basis for creating the animation. A script and voiceover were created by the Studio under our supervision. Despite a very short timeframe, the Pigeon Studio prepared an animation that fully met our expectations.

Thanks to the finished animation, we have generated interest among the museum community and Krakow residents. We are just starting to promote the animation more widely and hope to attract even more interest in future.

The booklet was received very positively. Having received good feedback about it, we decided to promote it on social media, so we're considering working with Pigeon Studio to create short animations for our social media.

This vendor was selected due to their animation expertise, roster of past clients + competitive pricing.

The production commenced with a kickoff goal to review the creative direction + scripts. Studio then broke down the process into steps: storyboarding, style frames, VO, motion, sound mixing, etc. They clearly delineated each step + provided ample time to review and give feedback.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with account managers and production managers. Feedback process was primarily tracked via email along with calls where needed.

Project hasn't been published externally yet so we don't have any markers yet for success. However, we are pleased with the progress/completion.

Studio was very hands-on and detailed in their project management style. Communication primarily occurred via email. Responses were flexible + timely.

The most impressive quality about this company was their output bandwidth. They were able to simultaneously work on 5 different videos each in different stages of production and keep details for each clear and concise.

An area of improvement for the company would be more cohesion between their various editors. At certain points in the project - it seemed some worked in silos without enough visibility to the overarching project.

I'm Producer at CGI Studio. We are a craft and design studio. We create advertising content, CG videos and stills.

2D and motion design subcontractor.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for a company specializing in a specific animation technique, with a similar creative profile and experience of working with foreign clients.

We started with the STB, artworks and brand identity review, defining the creative idea behind the project. We worked gradually on the animation, giving feedback and commenting on the phases. The project ended up with realising a few-minute animated clip.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with the Project Manager, Creative Director and Animation Team. Daily work of progress was sent for review or posted on the dedicated platform, talked over on the call and amended this same or the next day.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was awarded at Cannes Lions and London Internation Awards Festivals in the Art Direction and Brand Identity Categories.

The pipeline assumed was created by both sides and updates were sent on adaily basis. The project manager was easy to communicate, responsive, provided daily updates to the project, gathered feedback. We used different tools like Teams, Frame.Io.

It was a true partnership and a creative exchange relationship. Despite the production challenges, tight deadlines, twists and turns Pigeon Studio Team was always a flexible, agile and swift-reacting partner.

We were very satisfied with the attitude and quality of the work at the end.

I’m the founder, principal, and co-director of Behaviour Change Partners, an advertising agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with PIGEON STUDIO?

One of my clients is the International Kidney Cancer Coalition. For the past few years, we have organized World Kidney Cancer Day for them, which involves getting all of their affiliates to come together around one of the key issues facing the global kidney cancer community. 

We needed a video and various other assets for this year’s event.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The main creative asset was a two-minute animated video that needed to be produced in 14 languages, with 30-second cut-downs in 14 languages and 15-second cut-downs in 14 languages. After the concept and scripts were approved by our client, we approached PIGEON STUDIO and started talking to them about the project, what was involved, and the considerable logistics of producing something in multiple languages. In time, they proposed the style frames and a detailed storyboard. 

After that, we went through a stage of rough animation, where they turned the storyboard into still frames so we could get a feel of the overall piece. They then moved into the actual animation. After we approved the animation, they worked on the video’s English version first before doing all the different language versions.

The videos were made available to the affiliates who put the videos out on their own websites and social media. The full video was housed on the World Kidney Cancer Day website, and some of the shorter social media video ads drove people to the longer videos.

How did you come to work with PIGEON STUDIO?

I had worked with PIGEON STUDIO a couple of times before. They were delightful to deal with, so I chose them for this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $35,000.

We worked together from October 2021–May 2022.

We enjoyed high levels of viewing and stakeholder satisfaction.

How did PIGEON STUDIO perform from a project management standpoint?

PIGEON STUDIO was excellent in terms of project management. They delivered everything on time and within budget. They were also extremely helpful at every stage and very flexible in terms of difficult logistical jobs. They were also responsive throughout.

We were most impressed with the quality of the PIGEON STUDIO’s work. They offered great value for our money, and they were a delight to deal with.

I'm the customer care manager for a software technology company called GQueues. We offer a task and work management app that's specifically designed for Google users.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire PIGEON STUDIO, and what were your goals?

There are lots of different task and work management apps available these days. We wanted a fun way to help communicate to potential customers how our tool is different. We also wanted it to help people identify if they were in our target market and if GQueues could be a good fit for their needs.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We looked at many video companies, and reviewed proposals from 5 of them. We considered:

1. Price. We had a budget for this project and needed to stick to it.
2. Quality. What type of animation could we get within our price range? How did similar price-point videos this company had done before look?
3. Creativity. We wanted a company that wouldn't just take what we said we wanted and make it exactly like that. We wanted a company that would bring their own expertise to help make the best video, even if that ended up being different than what we envisioned at the start.
4. Services. Most video companies offer the same services and revision stages. But we specifically wanted one that would help us write the script as well as animate it.
5. Feedback. We wanted to make sure there would be a good feedback loop between us and the video company, that we'd have enough revision rounds to clearly communicate our edits.
6. Timeline. We didn't have a very firm deadline, so this wasn't a huge factor, but might have come into play more if all of the companies we reviewed were equal in all other areas.

We ended up with a great explainer video to help people understand the problems our tool can help solve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BhO7XqMvmY One area where Pigeon Studio really stood out was how they start the video creation process. They start with a kick-off call. Their creative team was there (project manager, director, and creative director), and members from our team involved in the project. We sent them a creative brief ahead of time, and then they used the call to ask clarifying questions to make sure we're all on the same page about what we want to get out of the video. Questions like "what feeling do we want viewers to have when they finish watching?"

Most of the rest of the Studio Pigeon process was pretty similar to the other companies we spoke to. They all emphasized how the stages build on each other, and how once you approve a stage, you shouldn't go back. There was script, storyboard, key illustration, voiceover, illustrations development, stillomatic, music/sound design, animation. Most of these stages were included with other companies as well. But Pigeon Studio was the only one to offer a stillomatic review. They did a good job explaining the purpose of each stage during the proposal phase.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

Once we started the project with Pigeon Studio, all of the communication was between project managers - Pigeon Studio's and myself for GQueues. I'd be sent the deliverable via DropBox, I'd share it with my team for review, we'd collect our edits, and send back via email. They didn't have any fancy tool to use for collecting feedback like Board or Frame.io. We just wrote out our feedback in a Google Doc and sent that via email. Then the Pigeon Studio project manager would communicate it to the creative team, they'd make changes, and repeat.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've only had the video for a couple weeks now, so a little too soon to be able to demonstrate much. But we're tracking data on it over the next few months that will give us more information on the level of success.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Communication was exclusively through email. This was nice in that there wasn't any new tools we had to learn how to use. But there were also times that it made it take more time and effort on our part in order to explain our feedback. Like for the storyboarding phase, we couldn't just click on a certain part of an image to leave a comment. We had to describe what we wanted changed in text or take a screenshot and edit that to make it clear what we wanted. This worked most of the time, but sometimes it led to our feedback not being understood. Oftentimes they would give us the next version with the changes they understood and ask the clarifying question in round 2.

This led to some of the timeline being lengthened in this back and forth. Most of the time if they didn't agree with our feedback, they would explain why. However there were some times when they made a change we didn't ask for, or didn't make a change we did ask for and didn't communicate why at the start. This led to us giving feedback in the final revision stage that could have been given in round one, if we'd only understood their thinking. It lengthened our timeline as well as a result.

In the beginning we set out a timeline for when Pigeon Studio would deliver work to us and when we would have to give them our feedback. We are based in the US and they are in Poland, so this meant if we sent feedback on the same day we received the deliverable, they would have it waiting for them in their inbox the morning after they sent it. But if we took a day, they wouldn't get it until 2 days later. We gave feedback on the same day 75% of the time, which should have saved us time on the project, but we still ended a week behind schedule.

The original schedule they gave us also had an order of phases that needed to be changed a couple times mid-way through. There were two phases (A and B) that had been scheduled to happen at the same time as one another, but when we got to them, we were told phase A had to be fully approved before they could start phase B. This wasn't in line with what we had been told to expect. All in all, it wasn't a huge deal since our deadline was flexible, but it did make it challenging to be able to plan our work week when we weren't able to have a reasonable estimate as to when we'd get a deliverable from Pigeon Studio.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The time they take to understand what you're looking for from the video, their creativity, and their willingness to push back when it won't make sense from an animation perspective. We are very pleased with the video we ended up with. They had a lot of creative ideas and interesting ways to implement our story. We had lots of moments that could have been very bland, but they made them funny and engaging.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think the main area for improvement is around the timeline, and the feedback loop. Specifically, setting a timeline in the beginning that is accurate in terms of what phases need to be completed before you can start the next one. And making sure everyone is on the same page about feedback and changes before moving on to the next edit phase. This would have clarified a lot of our communication on the stillomatic phase and made that round take less time. But overall we are thrilled with the video, and it is an amazing value for the price.
