What was your goal for working with Peerbits Solution?

We're working with them on two projects right now. The first one is developing a software solution for a company. They're managing a recruitment solution and developing custom code to tie it to our CRM [customer relationship management].

The second project is for another client. They deal with charity work. It's one of the top five or 10 charitable organizations in the U.K. They're developing the charity website and donation pathways and linking that in with the charitable activity internationally.

Please describe the scope of their work.

Mostly development and online platforms. One of the clients is requesting a mobile app development deliverable. I think Peerbits will be doing that.

What was your process for selecting Peerbits Solution?

We put the projects on Elance. We got various different organization bidding for it. We were looking for an organization that was good at both the online platform development and the mobile app development. They had a lot of experience in mobile app development.

A lot of the work these days for developing the online cloud solutions requires a mobile app platform. We decided to go with a company that does both but has strength in mobile app development. Both of our projects require those two elements.

It was less than $10,000 for both, but the total is more than $10,000.

When was the work completed?

It's ongoing. One of the projects is near completion. The other one is a little longer because it requires a lot of database integration.

Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?

The work they are producing graphically in terms of presentation is excellent. They've got very good graphic and front-end developers, which I think is important. Their communication platform is also excellent.

Are you satisfied with their performance?

They use a cloud-based project management solution called Teamwork. They're very well prepared in highlighting the work they are doing and keeping on tabs and communicating. I've never had issues talking to them. Their feedback is also good. Development work is rapid and they get things done quickly. They do office solutions or alternative solutions, so if they can't match your specification based on the budget they think out of the box, they can create a solution that works for clients.

They come forward with possible solutions and alternative ways of doing things. They're organized and efficient and have good people on board. They've got a good team. They've got a good range of abilities there.

Is there anything unique or special about Peerbits Solution that really makes them stand out?

I've been surprised with their technical platforms that assist in better communication. I've come across certain cloud based remote outsourcing companies, and they have very little infrastructure in terms of communication. It can be very difficult to talk to them. 

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

It's a challenge to work remotely. Like in all platforms and companies, anything that you do remotely will have challenges, but they've managed those challenges really well.

I'm kind of a digital entrepreneur from Columbia. I'm behind a couple of projects with Peerbits. One of them was last year for the World Cup.

What was your goal for working with Peerbits Solution?

I had been interested in app development for a while, but I didn't have the technical experience. I wanted to development several different applications.

Please describe the scope of their work.

I bought a source code from a marketplace, and I negotiated with Peerbits that they would kind of tune it and make it similar to another soccer trivia app that I thought was good. I wanted the app to be about the World Cup. We worked on it for about four months, and it was an interesting learning experience for me.

I try to keep hold of the creative process and the conceptualization. I find that they're very strong on the technical side, and they're very efficient developing framework. They take care of the back-end. Although we do the graphic design, they can extrapolate our concept to do screens, for example, and sign-in pages. Therefore, we do the core of the design and the concept, and they add to it with their skills.

I researched online and found them on a blog of someone who had worked with them on a similar project.

Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative?

The budget for the first project was $2,500, and the second one is about $10,000.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the results of the project?

I first started working with them in January or February of last year [2014]. We started a new project in January this year, and we just did the upload last Saturday. It is an app that's a photograph social network plus graffiti. So, you can pimp up your pictures with icons and text that are kind of street art inspired. This project was 500 hours of development.

Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?

I'm in a government program to accelerate some startups and most, if not all, of the other startup companies have found their development locally. I've shown some of their staff the application, and they were impressed with the amount of development in terms of results that have been achieved in a small amount of time, like six months. The idea of having a product that could appeal to Latin American audience is good because that means that in terms of usability and design, we're doing something right. 

Is there anything unique or special about Peerbits Solution that really makes them stand out?

What I liked the most about Peerbits is that they're quite flexible. The people who lead their organization are quite intelligent, and they know how to cater their services for specific needs, and that's very good.

What makes them unique is the people. You're dealing with real people who follow up with me. They have their own feedback channels, but they will go further to make sure they're doing the work right and satisfying their client's needs.

They're flexible. For example, I initially was planning to buy a source code for the second project, and then I changed my mind and said I would rather start from scratch, and they were cool with that.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

Sometimes, I've noticed small discrepancies in the hours that are logged on Elance, but it's not been a major problem. It has only been a discrepancy of an hour or two, so nothing to worry about.

What advice would you give a future client of theirs?

Not specifically for Peerbits, but with any development you should never hand them everything. I recommend talking to them every day. There are no short cuts to having a great product, so you've got to do the legwork. They are an excellent partner.

We are a startup mobile company currently working on an application tool for tracking attitudes toward certain goals or objectives across individuals and groups.

What was your goal in working with Peerbits Solution?

We needed cost effective development of a mobile app for both iOS and Android within a budget of less than $10,000 AUD [Australia dollars; approximately $7,700 USD] that could be launched by July 2015.

They were tasked with developing the tracmojo application to the specifications provided. Additionally, they were responsible for providing advice on design and other areas where we had little experience.

What was your process in selecting Peerbits Solution?

We requested quotes on Elance for our initial specs. At first, we had short-listed approximately 10 agencies based on Elance reviews, portfolios, quality of response, and price. We then finalized the list to three developers based on further feedback and selected Peerbits due to reference checks, quality of proposals, price, and confidence in their ability to deliver.

We have spent approximately $10,000 AUD working with Peerbits Solutions.

When did the project begin, and is it still ongoing?

The project has been ongoing for several months now and has not yet been completed. We're right now entering the final stages of development.

Do you have any statistics or metrics on the project?

The project is currently running a little behind schedule, but we have always pushed for quality rather than speed, so we are not concerned about that. Initial versions of the delivered software have been just fine, although there have been some errors based on some misunderstandings of requirements. Peerbits has been responsive to errors raised to date, and I have no doubt that a quality product will be produced.

Is there anything unique about Peerbits Solution that really makes them stand out?

This is our first experience in working with overseas mobile developers, and so we have no basis for comparison, but Peerbits appears willing and committed to achieving the desired outcome.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

Being from an IT [information technology] development corporate background, I may be overcritical, but I would say that more focus could be spent on confirming the requirements and the solution design prior to coding. I think some more walkthroughs of the requirements and proposed solutions may have eliminated the current errors.

What advice would you give a future client of theirs?

Get strong agreement on the review and approval process for the desired deliverables, so that any complex areas of requirements are clearly defined and understood.

We were specifically looking for somebody to do Objective C and Java programming for the mobile apps. It was a pretty straightforward project. The project is still in its early stages, so the extent of work is not yet fully determined.

We're about two and a half weeks into the project. The scope is primarily Objective C and Java programming, creating the app and most its components. Additionally, they have been working closely with the development team as the app platform continues to grow.

We put a listing on Elance, and got a lot of proposals from various developers. I looked through the reviews for Peerbits, and they looked pretty positive. I reached out to a couple of their past customers and got very positive responses. At that point, we decided to bring Peerbits in for the project.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they've done for you?

The current project is less than $10,000.

We're in the very early stages, so we don't have a finished product yet to measure metrics but, so far, so good. They've been really good about communicating.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I don't have a lot of experience with companies like Peerbits, but our initial feedback would be that they're responsive and knowledgeable. It is very refreshing to get answers to my questions right away. We haven't had any major issues or concerns working with Peerbits, which is always a risk when working with a new company.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?

Nothing speaking to their work or skills, but the only thing is the geographic and time zone issue. They're 11 hours different than here in California and scheduling is sometimes difficult to remedy.

What advice would you give a future client of theirs?

I don't really have any lessons learned with them right now, so not really.
