What challenge were you trying to address with Orizon Design?

We were looking to do a complete rebuild of the frontend of our website and move to a headless WordPress implementation. We needed a dev team that could handle the design and development work. We also needed help addressing some problems with core functions of our service, like properly managing customer subscriptions.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Orizon Design has created new designs for the website in Figma, which we've approved and then handed off to a third-party contract web developer to build the site. They've been on retainer since the site launched, addressing bugs and implementing new features. The main thing they've been handling is rebuilding our broken subscription system, which was based on Easy Digital Downloads and has never worked well.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we worked with two teammates from Orizon Design: a designer and a developer. Later, a project manager was brought on after the rebuilt site launched because of communication problems.

How did you come to work with Orizon Design?

I found them through Clutch based on their review score and price range. I chose them based on their clear design and UX focus.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2024, and the rebuilt site was launched in May 2025. However, we continue to keep them on retainer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've seen a more stable website and improved UX. Our sales have continued to grow at the same pace of around 20%–25% YoY growth as before the rebuilt site was launched. Regarding the website's stability, we've seen fewer server crashes and performance drops.

How did Orizon Design perform from a project management standpoint?

The project was estimated to be a three-month project which was overly optimistic as they did not understand the full extent of the problems we've been dealing with on the site. The project ended up taking over a year.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their design team is amazing. We came to them based on their design portfolio, and they did not disappoint with their new designs for the site.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were some communication problems early in the project. For example, we were quoted a different hourly rate in our initial calls with them than what they actually charged us. Their rate was a major factor in why we chose them, so this was frustrating. What they did not tell us upfront was that they have two different hourly rates for design and development, with development being the more expensive rate, which was the bulk of our need.

Although there have been some challenges with communication with our developer, Orizon has been eager to help create new processes and systems to make things run more smoothly which we appreciate.

Orizon did a great job of listening to our feedback and making a final design greater than anything we could have imagined. The time frame was tight and the team stepped up. They also went above and beyond and spent time refining well beyond the scope of our engagement.

Weekly meetings were great. The shared Slack channel was AWESOME! Delivery times were tight on our project and we recognized that going in. Orizon accepted feedback and revision requests multiple times from our team and delivered exceptional results.

The personalization of the entire engagement really made Orizon stand out. We had an initial meeting which they followed up with a custom quote in the form of a personalized video. The team was extremely positive in our interactions. 

Not often in this world can you really look forward to meetings and these were always the highlights of our weeks. The team came in with positive vibes each time and they truly listened to our feedback. The engagement and truly customized experience set Orizon Design above the rest.
