I'm the co-founder of Masrys, an online multi-vendor store. We focus on local Egyptian brands and handpick the best ones to include in our multi-vendor platform. Our primary mission is to start exporting after establishing ourselves in the Egyptian market.

We needed help developing and designing our platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

OPSInnovate has helped us build our platform from scratch. The team has started with the planning phase and wanted to know exactly what we wanted. We've given them our mission statement and made them understand the business more. We started to add specific functions and integrations between different platforms. Some vendors had Shopify, and some had WordPress, so we needed to adapt all the integrations together.

We wanted an online e-commerce store, similar to other companies in other countries, but adapted to our culture. We sought to include various products, from home appliances to cosmetics.

OPSInnovate has developed the platform. Since we needed a lot of adjustments and integrations, it has taken a while until we've managed to make everything stable. We've had a very complex filtering system because it is particular and has multiple categories.

Our platform is an online multi-vendor store, so that any vendor can register their product. We approve anything that is published on the platform itself. We also had some data entry people to collect as many vendors as possible. We've needed some data entry people, and now we have started to do an integration between them and their platform so that the product gets into our platform automatically with its updates.

After OPSinnovate delivers our platform, they'll hand it over to our internal developer.

What is the team composition?

We've had direct contact with OPSinnovate's CEO, who is personally overseeing the project. He has someone assisting him in the project manager role. There are two people working on the project, but we don't have contact with one of them. The other one procures what we need. The CEO has been with us throughout the process, checking up on us to see if we need anything in general.

How did you come to work with OPSInnovate?

OPSinnovate was a personal referral. In Egypt, we don't trust easily, especially when dealing with international companies. If there's a word-of-mouth recommendation from someone we know, it's much better.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent between $80,000 and $90,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in mid-January 2024, and the project is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We're still analyzing our metrics because the market has been more challenging than expected. Nonetheless, OPSinnovate has delivered what we've requested and, if we need adjustments after testing, they promptly address them. We have a solid platform, and we've hired an internal developer to maintain it.

OPSinnovate makes weekly analyses to address issues, which usually come from our integrations. The team has managed to solve problems and make the integrations clear and user-friendly.

How did OPSInnovate perform from a project management standpoint?

OPSinnovate is punctual and organized. We aren't that organized, to be honest. The team consistently delivers on time. We've experienced occasional miscommunication, but most of the time, we're on track together. We've never had a severe delay.

We've used Trello for project management and Google Meet for meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

OPSInnovate has a unique way of organizing tasks in a way that is efficient. Before we engaged OPSInnovate, we had a developer, and things used to take way too long to be implemented on the platform. OPSinnovate has fixed and implemented things swiftly when we wanted to create the platform and rebuild it. We didn't expect it to be this fast. The team has rearranged the homescreen and added or removed sliders quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We hoped the first draft would be much more solid and include more things. When OPSinnovate explained that we needed to be specific, we understood why we needed to do that. It would've been better if the team had clarified that from the beginning. It would've made any client understand what to expect clearly.
