Results have been great, they have overachieved, we had ket KPI's and business objectives we wanted to hit and they delivered over and above. General day to day ad management was done at a high level and we never failed to see results.

Great. Team was all very transparent and most importantly prompt. they knew when there was a sense of urgency and never had an issue in delivering under pressure moments.

Very little. They have lots of pretty graphs but when you look behind the graphs, the results were terrible. They liked to compare this month with last month but we have a cyclical business and so we need to compare this month with the same month last year. When you did that, you quickly saw their results were pathetic.

Everything. Dedicated account managers that don’t change all the time. Actually get to know the product and market it without gimmicks. We never wanted to run continual sales and all they could do was pressure us to run a sale or some kind of “extra offer” so someone would buy our product.

They obviously didn't have the team and had to go and recruit NEW people.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

EVERYTHING WAS LATE, They did not even read the brief, got everything wrong to the point of thinking we were something entirely different. Took almost 8 weeks to be told OH SORRY, WE CAN'T REALLY DELIVER CALL BOOKINGS TO YOU, WE ONLY PROMOTE A FREE THING AND GET YOU CONTACTS, and with 3 emails after it, after Lauren expressly ensured me on the sales call where I commited up to $10,000 adspend monthly and almost $5000 a month. They wanted more control of the funnel so calls would not give them that SO THEY CANCELLED THE CONTRACT AFTER AMOST 8 WEEKS. In that 8 weeks, they did not maintain the ads as promised, they gave me a new person and people who did not listen.

Then when it got too hard for them, Said oh sorry, we can't give you what we want, we only do it this way, which is so primitive. If you sell widgets, they will be good for you but if you sell a service, stay away as I lost 6 months of revenue due to this because what we get in an 8 week period, can determine 6 months of income due to what didn't happen in that period, and what it will take to replace them etc.

HORRIBLE they didn't read ANYTHING so it was useless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

NOTHING!!!! POORLY MANAGED, INEXPERIENCED, DON'T EVEN HAVE THEIR OWN TARGET MARKET RIGHT, HOW COULD THEY GET THE TARGET MARKET OF OTHERS RIGHT THEN. STAY AWAY FROM THEM IS ALL I CAN SAY.

Results were as follows

February: Intro month, doubled sales from January but didnt hit a great ROI
	March: Sales almost doubled again. Google improved but social media ads lagging our ROI
	April: Sales were basically the same as March, ROI still wasnt great. We had a few meetings with my fantastic account manager Steven and decided to change up some more creatives and sent some products to the megaphone team to shoot new contact
	May: Things began to pick up achieving another close to double sales month and ROI dramatically improving on both google and facebook
	June: Consolidated the results from the previous month with a similar turnover but hitting our target ROI
	July: Sales began increasing even more as did our overall ROI
	August: Broke most of our sales records in this month, scaled our adpsend and still kept our target ROI by quite alot
	September: 2 weeks in and already on track to keep the highly effective results and have also signed up to continue further scaling

Workflow was easy enough. Steven actually chased me for communication faster than I could go to him. Small business owners are busy so its great when you Marketing company has your back when your not able to be on top of everything at all times

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Quite frankly, we are impressed by their willingness to think outside the box to improve results when they were down. Its easy to give a company good reviews when they have provided good services but its even better when a company doesnt meet expectations at first but instead of giving excuses frequent to many other agencies actually came with solutions (At their expense) to improve results. Specifically shooting and creating new content for us to make it happen!

So far I give credit where its due - we have met all our expectations and exceeded them in our 9 months so far we dont see it slowing down anytime soon!

We have a great team backing us up in Megaphone, Sam and Tony are our project leaders and are very flexible, innovative and creative. They bring a lot of expertise and value to the table.

By the second week of working with them they have made us $80,000 with a total of $125,000 in that month alone. They are still giving us consistent revenue and sales through their methods.

We had previously worked with two agencies that we weren't seeing great results. So i looked online for an agency with the best reviews. Megaphone stood out from the crowd as they had amazing testimonials and a guaranteed ROAS improvement from where we were currently. The team was also a pleasure to speak with and I felt we would be in good hands.

The project was to increase sales with Google Ads. We had a few on-boarding discussions, talking through what we needed from Megaphone and what our goals were. These were all noted from the team and they came back with a strategy for our brand. We have been implementing that strategy for the past few months and have seen some fantastic results.

I've worked directly with one person from Megaphone, Paige. She is a Marketing Strategist. I haven't met the other people who are working on the account, but they are working hard behind the scenes.

We haven't reached our desired goal just yet and we still have a few months left in the project, but the outcomes we have seen so far are fantastic. Our overall ROAS has drastically improved and we are working in an upwards trajectory.

Very, we have weekly calls and are always touching base via emails.

Their online testimonials were fantastic, and they produced very high client retention.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Not exactly at this point. We implemented many new things at the same time as starting with Megaphone and its hard to gauge. This month we have had no launches and it's been a pretty 'normal' month and tbh the cost of Megaphone + adspend is about half of this months revenue which is too high. Next month we're doubling adspend, launching a new line AND having a sale - so it'll be interesting to see the results of that - they will determine whether we proceed moving forward.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have weekly meetings where we get told stats that we're not quite convinced give the true picture. For eg, we get told ROAS is 'x' but we have a huge customer return rate that we know would be back without advertising. So our main metric moving forward is based on growing the percentage of new customers vs return.

They're the first agency we've used so have nothing to compare them to.

I was launching the company outside of my acne clinic and needed help with digital marketing. I wanted Megaphone Marketing to help me with running Facebook ads so that I could start scaling and receiving online sales throughout the country. I also wanted them to support me with content creation and assist us in increasing our visibility on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They offered in helping us with the website to ensure that we had all the moving pieces to have a functional platform for our costumes and offer a speedy checkout and seamless navigation. As a result, when we started in March, they told me that it would take at least a month to examine my site and to get the platform re-established. They said they would be creating a lot of content for the website and that they needed to restructure it before moving on to the ads. It ended up taking two months, but we didn’t actually go into ads until May.

During the website creation, all the website work was put onto me. As an example, they asked me to download a Shopify theme. They didn’t know how to use it or edit it. As a result, I had to spend time going on YouTube for tutorials and contacting the company of the theme — by that point, I was thinking that something wasn't right. I addressed my concerns with them, and the account manager kept reiterating that they never had such a great client. I fell into the pawn of getting all the compliments they gave me, so I started to pat myself on the back but didn’t realize I was paying them $2,000 a month. In short, they were constantly singing my praises, but I was the one doing all the work.

After two months, I flipped out and demanded to speak to the CEO. I told him that this wasn’t what I signed up for and that I was constantly doing all of the work. While I didn’t mind getting my hands dirty for my business, it still wasn’t fair. They should have at least shown me what they were capable of doing. He said he would give me a free month which he did. He apologized and said that he understood what I was talking about.

After that, they started to run ads through Facebook, but I wasn’t getting any sales. I started running ads myself on another ad page and started getting sales from my own work. With those sales, there was more traffic to the website. All they did was retarget the traffic that I was already bringing. They were spending so much money on the ads which were rejected by Facebook multiple times.

From the time that we started running ads in May all the way until last week when I let them go as an agency, I was still getting rejected ads almost five times a day because they didn’t understand Facebook rules. With Facebook, you couldn't make an ad with before and after photos or create ads that ask questions that could trigger a person’s emotional feelings about how they look and perceive themselves. Even when I mentioned it to them, the account manager said they would just keep retrying it and that maybe another person would approve it. At that time, I thought maybe she knew better than I did because they said they had a direct connection with Facebook — so I ended up believing her.

Moreover, every time something didn’t sell, they'd make me buy something else. For example, they made me purchase a logo for $300 even though the logo I had done myself was fine. I created logos and they'd shoot them down. They had me buy ads from an account that creates user-generated videos of people who create videos, too. I had sent out so many free products only to get videos back that wasn't used because Megaphone Marketing didn’t direct those people to make videos that would be approved by Facebook. All in all, I wasted $1,500 on those videos, and from there, the costs just kept rising.

What is the team composition?

The initial person I was in contact with was an onboarding person who got all of my details, saw what the needs were, and then she connected me with the CEO. He then appointed an account manager who would handle our account.

How did you come to work with Megaphone Marketing?

I saw Megaphone Marketing’s Facebook ad. After that, I did a Google search to see what their reviews were, and it seemed as though they had really high reviews. On top of that, I saw a couple of YouTube videos from some of their accounts and decided to give them a try.

How much have you invested in them?

I spent $33,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I worked with them from March–September 2021.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

From May to last week, I only received 100 sales through the agency, and each month I kept asking them to give me an average timeframe of when sales would start to really increase based on their other clients' performance. Megaphone Marketing said they couldn’t give me that or promise that to me because everyone was different. I thought that was understandable, but I had taken a Facebook course earlier last year, and everyone that graduated on that course was doing 100 orders a week within 90 days.

Megaphone Marketing continued to tell me it was because I had medical products, even though they weren't medical at all. As a result, I needed to get them back on track to understand who I was and what my business was all about. In the end, I had a total of 190 sales and 90 of them were mine and 100 were theirs. Out of all the sales I received, I had a 30% repurchase which means that I had a really good product because people were coming back to repurchase. I got frustrated over the last couple of weeks because we were already working for seven months and I was only getting 20 orders a month at the most from this agency and spending around $5,000 a month. I only reached just slightly under $10,000 in sales from being with this organization.

During our partnership, I also told them I was having a hard time expressing my product's message. They said they were so good at that, but they have done nothing. I had rewritten my bio twice and they said they loved what I did. They would smooth me over with my work because they weren’t capable of doing it. In the end, they'd make me feel like I was the reason that things didn't work out, which was far from the truth.

Additionally, I had issues with them regarding my ads. I asked them to get my approval before running any ads and they never did that. I would just wake up to many rejected ads, and I would ask why they didn’t run it by me. They compromised my Facebook account to where Facebook actually called me. Facebook also told me that whoever was running my ads was wasting a lot of my money and that they didn’t know what they were doing.

When I spoke to Megaphone Marketing about it, they said that Facebook offers Facebook management to people who spend over $9,000 within 90 days. It blew my mind that Facebook reached out to me again last week and said I had been missing their appointments, but that I might really want to look for another agency, which was when I made the decision to fire Megaphone Marketing.

At one point, I had asked if I should bump my ad spend to $7,000 a month, and they said I should. Within five days, they spent $2,000 of that and I made zero sales. They had run a bunch of traffic to the site, and I went in and checked the demographics of where they ran the traffic from, and they ran it on countries that wouldn’t even be able to afford my product, which was the reason why I didn't get any sales in return. In the end, I still didn't receive any word from the account manager, the CEO, or anyone from their team.

In the end, they caused me to be bankrupt because they took all of my money. After firing this agency last week, I told them to send me all of my content and anything they had worked on, and they said they had to speak to the content creation department. Until now, they didn't send me anything. Anything that they did send was my content that they had just reworked which was so easy to do in Canva. Overall, anything they had created was so generic.

We usually had meetings on Google Meet every 2–3 weeks.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

They ran a contest for me that got me a subscriber email list of over 1,000 emails. I think that was good, but it just depends on what I get. A lot of the subscribers have fallen off because a lot of them were just generated from just wanting free stuff and they weren’t interested in sticking around to be marketed to.

In what specific areas can they improve?

I hired two other agencies because I wanted them to compete with each other. Those agencies were far bigger than Megaphone Marketing, and their fees were less than half what we paid to the team. Those companies were also shocked when I told them that I paid $2,000 a month. Given that Megaphone Marketing was going to develop my website, create content, run ads, and analyze ads metrics, I thought they offered a good price. However, I never worked with an agency before.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

If you don’t see any return within 60 days, this is not the company for you. They don’t have what it takes to get you there.

Really easy process where Claudia, our account manager, is totally on top of everything! There may be so many email chains and projects happening which I can't keep track of but Claudia will make sure everything is followed up.

How stress-free this process is! A lot of marketing agencies focus on volume of customers without fine-tuning the results and strategies. Usually, you'd have to be on top of agencies and almost constantly guide them to what you need. Megaphone definitely don't do this! They do all the work and you don't have to chase them up on anything, then, results just appear!

Not really. We had to slowly gain traction and make sure everyone was on the same page before Megaphone managed more of our marketing accounts. I feel like we did this at a good pace, also because they were very transparent that we shouldn't just be throwing money at marketing thinking it will do the job.

As soon as we started following the outlined plan I've noticed an increase in sales. The first month, was a bit slow as we were finding the right audience that fit my demographics, but could definitely see and improvement from the second month and now in the third month I'm nearly breaking my sales record of all times operating the business.

I love working with my account manager. She's a bright online marketer who works hard and has a lot of great ideas. We keep very casual which creates a great bond and energy to work together in achieving our objectives. We normally meet on zoom once a week to catch up on the campaigns, results, bounce ideas and plan what's next. She's also available anytime I have questions or whatever business-related needs I may have. I would say that makes all the difference for me, as I can build that trust in someone promoting my business.

Their attention to detail, meaning, truly understanding the core of your business and finding exactly who are your dream customers and where they are congregating, then bringing them into your store and converting into sales.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I suppose there is always room for improvements in any business but If I was to suggest something it would probably be set the expectations right for their customers. By that I mean, explain that in the beginning sales may start slow, but as the months goes by, and they have a better understanding of your audience demographics it will increase. In my case, the first month was slow (and I was worried), but in the following months it quickly picked up and is now only going upwards.

I am extremely impressed with Megaphone's turn around time. Over the last three months, Megaphone have launched facebook ads, google ads, instagram ads, and 5 major publications (Broadsheet, Urban List, Pedestrian TV, LifeHacker & Buzzfeed) Megaphone have also helped us create content and digital media for our social media as well as implemented design aspects and functions on Boba Barista's website.

We have also substantially increased our returning customer rate which is really important to us.

In one of my international travels, I was in Australia, and we came across each other. About a year later, I received a phone call out of the blue.

I’d been seeking out a partner for a while, but almost everybody we’d talked to wanted to engage in significantly greater financial commitments than those we were capable of making at the time. Megaphone Marketing came in with a great, open, and non-pressure environment to service us. It appealed a lot to our management team, and it was exactly what we needed. Since then, we’ve had a fabulous partnership.

We started to work with them in May 2020, and we officially signed the contract in June. Our relationship is ongoing.

We didn’t have a modern website, and they helped us to get a platform on the backend that gave us additional growth in marketing as we developed our team. Therefore, moving into the 21st century has been one significant aspect and a metric by itself.

Also, we’ve seen improvement with the ad campaigns that we’re currently running or testing. Actually, on the last two campaigns, the return on our ad spend was five and eight times greater.

How did Megaphone Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Their performance has been outstanding. The management, communication, coordination of the project, and project detail are exceptional. They’re a fantastic company.

We communicate with them through a combination of video conference calls every couple of weeks and frequent emails. Since they’re based in Australia and we’re here on the West Coast, we have to deal with time zones. Megaphone Marketing was planning to open an office in Los Angeles, but COVID-19 delayed the plans by about a year. They expect to have it ready by the end of 2021, and it’ll obviously make our communication with them much easier.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The significant difference for us is the flexible structure of their work and their contracts. They’re willing to listen to the customer and their needs, especially if they’re unsure of what to do.

Unlike other 75 companies that I’ve interviewed over the past four years, I’ve found that Megaphone Marketing doesn’t demand upfront, outrageous contracts. They’re more committed to results, and they give you 90 days to prove themselves — which they do without fail. We didn’t have a six-months or one-year contract with no assurance of whether it would work or not, and the costs were far less compared to other companies— their approach is just fabulous.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, I don’t think we could’ve approached it any differently. I can’t speak for other industries or customers that they have, but I think they do a pretty fabulous job. They improve upon everything they do, and they’re dynamic and young. When they make a mistake, they’re able to recognize that they don’t know everything, and then they work to correct it. I’m very impressed with them.

I would wholeheartedly recommend you to give them a shot. Give them 90 days and let them show you what they can do. Then, listen and trust the advice that you’re receiving from them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They promised me they’d optimize Facebook and Instagram for my company, and we’ve seen a straightaway outcome of their collaboration. On the same weekend that we started, we got 20 orders from Instagram and Facebook, which was beyond my expectations. Now, every month, we’ll have 200 as the average of orders from our accounts. 

They send me reports monthly. We can see how sales went from both ends. The results we’re reaching –compared to January– February did a 30% increase. From February, March had a 15% increase, and compared to March, April has done another 15% increase in sales. 

How did Megaphone Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

They're doing very well. They have an account manager who communicates with me daily. We will discuss what they’ll do on our account and what the advertising group is going to do or if they have a delay. That way, I can know what ad works better, what product works better, and what product is not performing that well.  

Normally, we communicate through email and Team Viewer, which is where we’re holding meetings. I normally tell them what I need to get done, and they tell me if it’s doable or not or if they need to charge some extra. For example, if I need to do an extra EDM (email directing marketing) campaign, they’d probably charge another $100 AUD (approximately $80 USD)  if that’s not included in our contract, which I find reasonable.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive characteristic about them is their account manager, who works very closely with us. She looks at our social media accounts in a backend, and she’s very detailed about the aesthetics of the work. 

Megaphone Marketing always knows what goes on and how to improve the ad performance. This is very impressive because we need people to look after and look closely at the account. Sometimes, some ads are not performing well and need to be deleted, but sometimes people who work in the marketing business will charge for the service, set up their account, and leave without a follow-up. Because of this, having a company like Megaphone Marketing is much better because they take responsibility for it.

 Are there any areas they could improve?

We are going to spend more on advertising every month, but I need them to optimize my return on investment. I am expecting higher ROI rates, so I think they can do better.

If your product has a brand name or you have a high ticket product, you can work with a marketing agency because they can generate more sales for you. But if your product is at a lower price, it’s better to do it for yourself and save some money.

After speaking with Kia we found we were really aligned with their approach - no fuss, no buzz words and they're incredibly results focused. We like how pro-active they are and how they are constantly monitoring and tweaking our campaigns to make the most of our ad spends.

We answered a questionnaire about our business - mission, values, competitors, brand personality etc. After that they put together a proposal to show us what they could do for us in terms of advertising, remarketing and strategy and some indicative spends for each channel.

After we agreed on a marketing package they proceeded with a analysis of our website and provided some great suggestions on how we could optimise up our website and some amazing apps.

Alana then got started on our campaigns and provided monthly reports and regular check ins (phone calls and emails) to see what was working and what new products and promotions we could promote.

Interest in Melbourne Softball, as determined by the number of email enquiries, attendance at our come and try sessions and the number of player registrations, increased and we had a significant increase in the number of players looking to be involved.

Communication was excellent. We knew where we stood every step of the way and they were accomodating with the many tweaks we wanted to be made to advertising copy and the landing page they created for the campaign. They responded quickly to feedback and as such we were able to get the campaign up and running in a very short time frame.

Although we would represent only a very small part of their business I feel that we received just as much attention as their million-dollar clients would. Always happy to have a chat about how things were going and to listen to our ideas and suggestions.

The growth we saw has outweighed our original thoughts we would achieve within the first 6 months. Since then we have increased our budget a few times to further increase our reach. The digital strategies are being greatly received by our target market.

We have a really great workflow. Rebekah is always able to handle our whacky (and often last minute) requests and ideas. The team at Megaphone always completes the tasks and we do not have to chase.

I actually found out about Megaphone through one of their own paid facebook ads! Their ad creative showed the results they had produced for other ecommerce brands.

It was really convincing and I knew instantly that I had to onboard them as my ads manager.

We hired Megaphone to run our paid Facebook and Instagram advertising on Facebook Ads Manager. They write all our ad copy, use our content to produce all of our ad creatives and set-up & optimise our paid campaigns.

They also provide a lot of free general digital marketing advice and consultation including how I can improve my website (speed loading, design), how to go about PR outreach just to name a few.

In the last few days, we have also engaged them to set-up & manage our Google & Youtube Ads.

My Account Manager, Anna, is my main, daily POC, however I have the opportunity to liaise with the Account Executives and the Head Of Accounts when necessary.

However, whilst my Account Manager is the main POC, their entire team of experts contribute to the marketing strategy behind the scenes. This includes graphic designers (ad creatives), influencer marketing experts, Klaviyo experts, SEO experts, website builder experts.

I am also looking forward to using their new content creation team for some videos.

They have more than doubled our sales and return on ad spend in just 2 months through their facebook & instagram ads. And conversions on our email marketing funnels are at 85%.

Very effective. Anna is always available to chat to Monday to Friday during her work hours.

If I ever have a question regarding the performance of an ad set, she is quick to advise me on what approach we should take (whether it's to turn it off, wait for it to spend a bit more, or alter part of the ad).

She is constantly checking the performance of my ad account on a daily basis at a minimum & optimising it. Her team now understands the brand extremely well and the content they produce is of a very professional standard.

If I ever have any question or issue, Anna is quick to respond & remedy if necessary. They have been a pleasure to work with, hence why we have engaged them to do more work for us.

They are a team of experts & their processes are seamless. Although they were no where near the cheapest of companies, the fact that they are 100% Australian based, easily contactable, and genuinely interested in our products made that difference.

We had initial phone and email meetings with Megaphone. They were very helpful in laying out exactly what was needed from us, at our end, to help them produce the best quality website, and advertising for our business. They helped with ad copy, creatives, and ideas. They have created a brilliant marketing campaign which has seen our website orders and visits increase dramatically over the past few months.

They have a dedicated contact with Facebook and IG marketing- advertising hemp is not that easy in Australia. We have gone from struggling to get our ads approved, to having ongoing paid advertising each day. We provided all the images of our products, product descriptions and general uses, and Megaphone created the ads around that.

We have a dedicated POC with Megaphone, and she is available any time during the week for calls/ or email. My questions and queries are answered immediately, and with great detail.

Since Megaphone has started our paid advertising our sales are up 274%. So obviously we are very happy!! Brand awareness has been increasing dramatically, and social media interactions have also increased. We did try a few smaller companies initially, however Megaphone just seem to "get it".

The project manager, Anna, is fantastic!! She knows how to convey our message, and Megaphone in general have done a lot of research on hemp, and understand our position, and our target markets. Tina and myself, are not very tech savvy, and Anna and the team are aware of this and cater to our needs.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Megaphone did quite a bit of research on our products and target markets. They are willing to accommodate our wishes, but are not afraid to tell us when they think we have it wrong. Totally Australian based, was the big point of difference for this company, and the ease of being able to get in contact was very reassuring.

Other vendors that I had dealt with previously had a lot of issues getting paid ads running. After a couple of initial hiccups, now everything runs so smoothly.

### NPA Events – from $60k to $360k in 9 months

### Bescher – Increased sales by 156%
Queensland-based Bescher is an innovative, luxury skincare brand using Sea Cucumber Collagen to deliver extraordinary results for its customers. Founded by Renee Alyce, the business already had a strong industry presence — she approached Megaphone in Q3 2022 looking to scale the brand as much as possible, increase the international presence, and dive head-first into the wonderful world of Google’s Performance Max.
By taking Bescher onto Performance Max and optimising their existing ads and campaigns across Google, Facebook and more, Megaphone was able to knock it out of the park. We achieved a consistent 12x+ ROAS while scaling spend by over 100% (per month). The goal of $70 per new customer was obliterated, achieving $15 CPAs.
Diving further into the sales numbers, just halfway through Q4, during the hype of Black Friday, we managed to make $85,775 from just $6,907 in ad spend on Google alone, making up just a small portion of the overall sales during that period. At the time of writing, we’re just over halfway through the quarter, and have already increased sales by 156%.
