I’m a project manager of a logistics company that makes software in-house in Hong Kong and China.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Marz?

We needed help developing our company website and one of our in-house mobile apps for our driver. We have a business that does local delivery.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our website is a one-page HTML5 company profile including our contact information, and our products and services. We needed it be responsive to mobile and desktop and be sizeable.

We also wanted to make a Mark 6 scanner to scan our company mini-games for our annual dinner. People draw a ticket randomly, and at the end of dinner, employees scan the ticket and see if they win a prize. We asked Marz to develop one of the apps for us for iOS and Android. We made a few requests, and they completed those quickly. They came out with a few designs and then we made changes. They also put it into the app before we released it at the annual party.

What is the team dynamic?

They have a web developer, a UX developer, and a project manager to take our requests.

How did you come to work with Marz?

A colleague referred them. We tried out Marz. It turned out well.

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January until May 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For the Mark 6 scanner, they came up with a camera function, but it took time to do the scanning. We asked them to improve the overall experience. They came back with another new library that provided better solutions and gave us more functions, for example, they can show the scanning areas. It’s more intuitive for users. We’re quite satisfied.

Both the Android and iOS apps have been launched.

How did Marz perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re quite responsive. We communicated through WhatsApp and email. They update every 2 weeks and give us demos. They email us the link to download the latest update so we can give feedback about the apps. We requested some last-minute changes, and they were able to make the changes and still meet the deadline.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They improved the scanning. They used better technology to implement the camera scanning. They were responsive and showed us updates ever 2 weeks. That gave us a lot of confidence that the project is going the right direction.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If they could provide more people, they could finish the project more quickly.
