**The Review** — Oct 8, 2024

**Feedback Summary**: Magora has built a tool that has helped the client take on more projects for their customers. The client projects to win an excess of £200,000 worth of business, and the team's organization is impressive. Magora follows defined sprints and collaborates via Jira, email, and weekly video calls.
""The great thing about Magora is that they focus on accuracy.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I'm a director at a data company. We specialize in B2B data and help our clients target B2B professionals in all sorts of job roles globally.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora? We needed support to build a tool that would help us clean our internal company data records.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Magora has built a data cleansing tool for us. The tool uses Google queries to help us clean up data and produce a website related to the data we've been given. Initially, the team researched because we weren't sure if it was possible to build the desired tool because of our data's state. Magora created 2–3 algorithms to identify dirty records and broken characters and used the results of Google queries to determine which website would best match the inputted record. The team ran the code and then used the best algorithm to start building the system. What is the team composition? We work with one business developer, two teammates from accounting, and one teammate who supports development and design. How did you come to work with Magora?I found Magora on Clutch. I was looking for a UK-based development firm that could help us and stumbled across Magora's profile on Clutch. I saw their reviews were good and contacted them. Magora's business development team contacted me quickly and discussed the project. How much have you invested with them? We've spent roughly £50,000.What is the status of this engagement? We started working with Magora in September 2023, and our engagement is ongoing. We're expanding the tool we're building and may work with the team on other projects.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We wouldn't have been able to take on some client projects without the tool Magora has built. I project this tool will probably win us an excess of £200,000 worth of business going forward. How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?Magora's project management is what I most like about working with them. We've had various project stages and used several systems to keep development stories and tickets alive, which we review on a regular basis. For each sprint, we have a list of clear objectives. Magora effectively keeps me on track, and we typically communicate via email, although the team has also offered to use Slack. We use Jira to keep track of tickets and have weekly video calls where Magora shares their screen, which is nice because there is no pressure to log into a system or correct a ticket.I've worked with other development firms and found it challenging to communicate with them. Usually, when I talk to developers about a project like this, they go for the highest number of results. The great thing about Magora is that they focus on accuracy and have correctly not chosen certain development paths to ensure we're hitting the project's main aim. What did you find most impressive about them?Magora is very organized and makes us feel like they're an outsourced development department instead of a company doing work for us. The team is very easy to work with and goes the extra mile. Magora knows the end result we want and lines up sprint tickets. Midway through the sprint, the team might return and say they’ve made a discovery and ask what we think. Magora incorporates their findings into the current sprint, and the result is an improvement. I'm impressed by their willingness to go the extra mile. Are there any areas they could improve?I can't think of anything Magora can improve on.Do you have any advice for potential customers?I recommend having a clear idea of your problem and a justification for your particular solution. Most development companies want to know what the problem is and try to solve it. However, obvious nuances to how you'll operate need to be communicated if you suggest a solution. For example, Magora initially had a series of questions about why we wanted to approach this project with fewer results but higher accuracy. Once the team understood that, they knew it was the mainstay of the project.

**The Review** — Oct 26, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Magora, the product has been launched and received positive feedback from stakeholders. The product’s design has exceeded expectations, and any issues are rectified quickly. The team outputs have been impressive, and they truly understand the client’s goals and vision for the product.
"“They’ve given me great insights throughout the journey, and it’s been a great process.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I’m the founder and CEO of Lyfe, an at-home health testing service. We provide sexual health tests in the US through our e-commerce platform and app. We have a laboratory and warehouse in Florida, where we distribute kits in the US nationwide. We also have great retail partners like Walmart for distributing kits in physical stores and online.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora? We hired Magora for their software development services.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Magora and our company had a discovery phase where we aimed to understand what we required. This lasted for a couple of months, and we had many calls between ourselves, their team, and our partner laboratory. We worked on gaining good insights into the market and figured out what we needed to build at what cost. From there, the development phase started. This took three months, and then we were able to launch our product. It was an MVP and a no-code solution. Before we went into full native development, we decided to test the product in the market through this no-code solution. Although it was a no-code solution, a lot of additional things went into it. Magora created an API to allow the app to communicate with our laboratory. This was where most of the coding and development happened. The Magora team collaborated closely with our laboratory to make this happen. Since it was a new technology, it took quite a bit of work. At present, we’re still engaged with Magora. We plan to use their services for the development of the native app. We’ll start a new discovery session for this phase of the project. We aim to expand into the UK and Europe, and we’ll be using Magora for discovery in November or December. What is the team composition? We work with around four teammates from Magora, including Ekaterina (Account Manager) and Alex (CPO). How did you come to work with Magora?A friend referred Magora to me. I had a brief discovery process with them during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, we were looking for a technology partner to help us produce a COVID-19 workplace testing app. We didn’t pursue this project with them, but I came back to them with my new idea because they were so helpful, insightful, and professional. Compared to the other companies we approached, Magora was more approachable and flexible in terms of our needs. As a result, we hired them for this recent project. How much have you invested with them?I’ve invested around £25,000–£30,000 (approximately $30,000–$36,000 USD). What is the status of this engagement? We started this project in February 2023, and it’s ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? The MVP has gained traction and garnered quite a bit of success, so we’ve been happy with the process. There have been some bugs and issues with the API, but these are rectified quickly — one issue was even resolved within 24 hours of popping up, for example. Simply put, Magora works quite quickly when a technical issue arises. Overall, I rely on Magora’s design expertise. They deliver good designs, and I’m impressed with what they produce. Their design team has exceeded my expectations, and I’m truly happy with the quality of their work. How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?Magora’s project management is great. They meet deadlines, and Alex and Ekaterina are truly helpful. They’ve given me great insights throughout the journey, and it’s been a great process. The API development has taken a little longer than expected, but it’s worth it because we now have this idea in place. We’ve created an IP for our company, and we can now generate more business from it by adding other laboratories to our API. To communicate, we mainly use Slack and WhatsApp. I speak a lot with Alex through WhatsApp, and he’s always quick to respond. What did you find most impressive about them?Their enthusiasm is impressive. When talking about my project and vision, it’s important for me to find the right people who believe in the product and my business. I see that in them — they can see the product’s potential and what I’m trying to achieve. Are there any areas they could improve? No, there aren’t any. Do you have any advice for potential customers?Be clear about your goals. Do your research and have everything outlined before you engage Magora. That way, they can work effectively with you and give you the best price. They’ll also have a quick turnaround time.

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Magora, the client now has a true end-to-end platform used by eight teams in six countries. They use the platform for many aspects of their business, such as finance, reporting, creative development, and client interactions. The team has been flexible and resolves bugs and issues quickly.
"“They’re accessible, and it doesn’t feel like I’m working with a faceless team.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I’m the COO of Casual Films, a video production company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora? We hired Magora to create a platform that could improve our efficiency in video production.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement? We began with a discovery phase and then went into production. They created all the documentation and wireframes we needed. Their resources also designed the front- and backend of the platform. This partnership is ongoing because we’re constantly adding new features and improving the development process as we go along. We’ve broken the project down into several sprints, and we’re currently working on a monthly rolling contract. The Magora team develops the product and discovers new features. They mainly use JavaScript. What is the team composition? We work with a core team of four members, including Mikhail (Frontend Developer), the project owner. How did you come to work with Magora?I discovered Magora when I was researching for a development project that didn’t make it to fruition. I found them through Google, and I engaged them because they were quite transparent. They didn’t overcomplicate the process and were upfront about what the project required and how they worked. On top of that, their portfolio had a high standard. How much have you invested with them? We’ve invested around £300,000 GBP (approximately $363,000 USD). What is the status of this engagement? We started the engagement in July 2021, and it’s ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? Our organization now runs on the platform that Magora has built — eight teams from six countries are using it in their day-to-day operations. This has made many aspects of our business a lot easier, including finance, reporting, creative development, and client interactions. It’s a true end-to-end solution and a real success. Meanwhile, bugs and crashes are expected in any development project. The Magora team is always quick to resolve them, and the quality of their output has improved over time. They’ve worked truly hard to iron out bugs. In other words, they’ve been responsive and flexible. How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?Deadlines have slipped a bit, though the scope of work doesn’t change. However, they still deliver without charging more. Their cost stays the same, and the team goes above and beyond in terms of hours worked to ensure the scope is delivered. Mikhail has been excellent. He’s thorough, diligent, and always available to answer questions as we move through the project. For tools, we mainly use Jira and Slack. What did you find most impressive about them?I like how we can get to know them as individuals. They’re accessible, and it doesn’t feel like I’m working with a faceless team. I’m involved with the teammates working on the project, and I like the closeness in our collaboration. Are there any areas they could improve? It would be nice if the team could be consistent throughout the engagement. For context, there’s been a couple of personnel changes that set us back a little bit.Do you have any advice for potential customers?Take your time in the discovery phase. In our case, it was my first time doing any development work, and I was keen on seeing tangible results as quickly as possible. Magora was accommodating in making that happen, but looking back, I wish I’d taken more time in the discovery phase. I could’ve dove into the wireframes and talked through the features in more exhaustive detail.

**The Review** — Jul 21, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Magora exceeded the client's expectations by delivering high-quality deliverables and insights. Their communication was good, and it was a fluid collaboration. They were committed to addressing needs and presenting inventive solutions. The client appreciated the project's fixed price and schedule.
""Magora's team provided valuable insights, and we were pleased with the overall outcome.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I'm the project manager for a medical device startup. We specialize in manufacturing medical devices and software as a medical device (SaMD). Our company offers services to various clinical centers known as hubs. We provide training, assistance, and support for our procedures, which primarily involve biopsies and prostate cancer treatment.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora? Our application has been in use for over six years. It collects various data about patients and procedures. We were searching for a provider to help us with a new application.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement? Magora took the time to thoroughly evaluate and confirm the business needs by meeting with various stakeholders and interviewing the team during the discovery phase. This ensured that the project aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. They dug into the main pain points and what we needed to prioritize. It was an exciting phase, and the collaboration went very well. We initially planned to create a mobile app. Still, we opted for a web-based app for better cost-effectiveness instead of developing separate iOS and Android apps.We are currently using a PHP backend and Android/iOS frontends. However, we are facing the challenge of managing three different code bases. One solution proposed is to retain the PHP backend while optimizing it. Additionally, the team recommended implementing progressive web development, whereby the app opens in the browser upon launch. What is the team composition? We worked with 3–4 people from Magora's team. Initially, we communicated with a sales representative. Later, we collaborated with two business analysts, and once we began the project, we were assigned an account manager. Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?Andrew (Business Development Manager) consistently ensured the project ran smoothly by regularly checking in. Alexander (System Architect) and Mikhail (Frontend Developer) were exceptional in their respective roles. They provided valuable insights and consistently performed at a high level. Overall, we were pleased with the entire team's performance. How did you come to work with Magora? We found Magora on Clutch. Among the different providers we interviewed, Magora stood out. We were particularly impressed by their discovery phase approach. How much have you invested in them?We invested £5,000 Pounds (approximately $6,400 USD).What is the status of this engagement? We worked with Magora from April–May 2023.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?Overall, Magora exceeded our expectations. We can attribute the project's success to its fixed price and schedule. As a small business, we must clearly understand the project's cost and delivery timeline. Therefore, we greatly appreciated the fixed price and the team's utmost professionalism. We received quality deliverables and great insights from the team. More seasoned colleagues paired up with junior members of the team. Magora's team provided valuable insights, and we were pleased with the overall outcome. One of the final requirements was a comprehensive proposal for the new application, which we reviewed with the team. Unfortunately, we couldn't proceed due to limitations with our business and budget. How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint? The communication was good. We defined the communication channels at the beginning of the project, and everything was very fluid. We utilized Teams for daily communication and Jira and Confluence for project management. Everyone was happy in the end. What did you find most impressive about them?We were very impressed with the business analysts and their insights about our business. They rapidly became familiar with our procedures and staff, allowing them to comprehend our challenges fully. Are there any areas they could improve?I don't have any areas for improvement at this time.Do you have any advice for potential customers? My recommendation is to take a look at Magora's reviews on Clutch and reach out to those who have left a review to gain insights into their previous experiences with the company, including their strengths and weaknesses. Doing that may require a few days of effort, but will be beneficial.

**Feedback Summary**: The MVP built by Magora Systems met the end client’s expectations, helping them continue their fundraising efforts. The team worked in a scrum methodology, offering clear and honest communication. Additionally, they provided impressive support and well-defined processes to keep the project on track.
"“They didn’t simply take our requirements and run with them; they truly made an effort to understand everything.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the senior digital project manager at a digital transformation company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora Systems?

We hired Magora Systems to help us develop a healthcare product.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora Systems developed the MVP of an iOS and Android mobile app focused on telemedicine. It helps manage information about diseases, surgeries, dental interventions, and hospitals. Users can log in to the app to book appointments and search for services, hospitals, and general practitioners (GP). It is also integrated into GP surgeons' and hospitals’ data so that people can track their medical records. Additionally, it helps users find the medicine they need.

Initially, we provided Magora Systems with the client’s briefs regarding the required design, branding, and functionality of the app. Then, they developed the app from scratch.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a core team of five developers from Magora Systems, including a technical lead, senior developers, and mid-level developers. We also communicated with the account director.

How did you come to work with Magora Systems?

One of our internal product managers recommended them. I checked their reviews on Clutch, and they were great, so we contacted them and started working with them.

How much have you invested with them?

The original project cost $300,000, but the client requested additional features, so the total was around $350,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked from November 2021–April 2022; it was a six-month project. Still, I would hire Magora Systems again for further development and future projects.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our client was happy with the MVP developed by Magora Systems, and they’re now trying to get more investors interested in the product.

How did Magora Systems perform from a project management standpoint?

Magora Systems delivered everything on time on the first iteration, so we experienced no delays. We managed the project using Jira and YouTrack, where they shared reports. Their team constantly shared information about the project and tracked their work hours.

We worked using a scrum methodology, so we had daily calls via Zoom and communicated via Slack and email very clearly. Additionally, Magora Systems is based in London, so we met in their office twice.

What did you find most impressive about them?

A really good aspect about working with Magora Systems — and one of the reasons I would go with them for our next development project — was that they had a really well-established process. Although I didn’t meet this person, they had a product owner involved who helped with the scope and documentation, allowing developers to kick off the project faster and understand everything.

Usually, other providers don’t bring product owners unless the client pays extra. Of course, the cost of this resource surely was included in the project cost, but Magora Systems’ approach in including support from the start was excellent. They didn’t simply take our requirements and run with them; they truly made an effort to understand everything by doing research and asking the right questions.

Additionally, Magora Systems was very transparent. Whenever we requested changes, they never took a hard stand. Instead, we had good, transparent, and honest conversations about what they could and couldn’t do, never overestimating themselves and always delivering on time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. Everything was good.

**The Review** — Dec 23, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The app was successfully launched, but there are no results available yet due to the effects of the global pandemic. Overall, the team delivered the app on time and the client has been pleased with the outcome.
""Their planning skills and business analyzing skills have been extraordinary and detailed."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a developer at a small travel company located in Norway and is the project owner of the project. Our company has 10 employees and sells trips to beautiful locations in Norway.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Magora?

Norway is a complex geographic country, with a lot of fjords and mountains. A lot of trips offered by the company is therefore complicated with a lot of train, bus and boat connections.

To be able to offer the best experience for the customers of the company, we wanted to develop a virtual guide, to make the trip easier and more delightful for the tourist.

As the internal developers of the company did not have the capacity to do this work an external company was needed to help out with the development of the application.

What were your goals for this project?

Create a mobile application to engage travellers and diversify their experience when booking a trip at our company

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Magora?

We found Magora by searching online. We contacted a few different companies, but Magora seemed to be the most professional and easiest to communicate with.

Describe the project in detail.

We started off the project with a lot of initials meetings. Discussing the scope and mapping all the ideas. The result of this was a detailed BPMN and user stories that could be estimated and evaluated by the developers.

By creating this, the scope of the project was clear and ready to start the development. After each development phase both our company and Magora did a QA on the current work. When the QA was completed the project was deployed and released.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned a project manager to support us and serve as the main point of contact throughout the project. We also had a business analyst as well as a designer that came up with the initial design of the application. The company also provided a QA team.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app was launched early june 2020. It is still yet hard to see if the app was a success or not because of the impact of the Covid-19 situation affecting the world at this time. Resulting in very few, if any, travellers. The app with expected content was delivered in time, and we are pleased with the result that was delivered. Hopefully we will be able to test the app in more detail 2021.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager that we were assigned was easy to communicate with and provided us with detailed updated. We had regular meetings to ensure we all were on the same page. Overall impressed with the people we worked with.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their planning skills and business analyzing skills have been extraordinary and detailed. The common understanding on what should be delivered or not was perfectly clear during the entire corporation.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The development process slowed pretty heavily when bugs were found in their own QA process. But they always delivered in the end. Overall pleased with the process.

"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a company that supplies software to car leasing brokers.

My team is composed of product managers and designers, without any development skills in-house. They helped us on the development front.

What is the team composition?

I work directly with a project manager.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We started working together in September 2019, and our teams are still collaborating. The project will likely be complete by July 2020.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

We set very detailed requirements from the beginning and documented milestones. In the end, we’re doing more than initially expected, so sometimes there was a bit of scope creep. We communicate via Slack and have a very skilled project manager.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Broader than just the code itself, the team strived to understand the entire project. Their attention to detail impressed us. They’ve proven to be understanding of some pretty complex code requirements and data sets. The breadth of their skills and processes is very impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve addressed how we’re going to work around issues with scope creep, and they’ve adapted to our needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Share as much about our needed deliverables and context early. That way, you’ll get the most out of their services. They’ve been a great team overall for us.

Their whole team is highly professional, from their project managers to the implementation of all the technical requirements. They worked hard to ensure we were satisfied with every aspect of their work with us, and it really paid off.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We were one of the first clients in our industry to partner with them. While that would have made me nervous, they were easily able to pick up on our requirements and regulations.

There are 4–6 people working, depending on the scope of the project, including a project manager and account manager.

**The Review** — May 14, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Although the MVP is still in progress, the partner is happy with Magora's good work so far. The Magora team implements a well-structured project management style, utilizing sprints. They're receptive to feedback and helped bring the MVP from ideation to preparation and now execution.
"“They’re flexible and immediately change anything we don’t like.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a part-time advisor of a technology startup. We have several products, one of which is a data marketplace.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Magora’s task was to build our MVP. The main challenge was that the idea for the project was just in our heads, and we wanted them to do pretty much everything.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora provided design and full-stack web app development services. One of the challenges was connecting different APIs to our marketplace from different data sources. Their team defined the scope and determined which data sources we could start with. They combined all of those in one place and gave us a nice UI.

We gave them flexibility but defined what coding languages and technologies to use. Some suggestions came from them and some from us, such as using React on the frontend. The first phase of our project was research and development. Now, they're working on the development phase.

What is the team composition?

I communicate with one of their salespeople and a project manager. Sometimes, two developers join our conversations.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I googled some companies and found their landing page. Magora had a promising expertise level, and we were looking for a London-based company. They have development teams in other countries, but their headquarters are in London. We also picked them because of their price.

How much have you invested with them?

We've invested around £70,000 (approximately $85,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Magora in January 2020, and the work is ongoing. They’re finishing our MVP development, and we’ll decide whether to continue our collaboration after we’ve worked on sales and marketing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re still working on customer engagement so I don’t have any metrics so far. Magora’s work looks good overall. We had some issues with design in the beginning, but they sorted those out. A highlight is that they did a good job of understanding the market and gave us a lot of suggestions and options on the data process.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

This is one of their strongest points. They have everything in a well-structured manner. We use Trello to outline the project scope, provide timelines, and track feedback from my side.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The way they structure sprints within their project management is their most impressive skill. This has given me a good feeling about them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. I’m pretty happy.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I don’t have any specific advice. They’re flexible and immediately change anything we don’t like.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

I needed to develop a mobile app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora did full stack development of the mobile app. Built for iOS and Android, the app is for consumers to use to improve their experience, increasing comfort in any bar or restaurant they visit. There are several complex features, including maps and reviews.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Alex (iOS Developer) and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I searched for vendors that spoke Russian, as this is my native language. I’m very comfortable with their team, and we communicated easily with each other.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in February 2020. We have taken a break due to the pandemic situation, but plan to resume the project once things reopen.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team is professional. They communicate well, understanding our vision for the app. Magora are like partners, or a part of the team, rather than a hired vendor.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, but it would always be nice to have it done cheaper.

Founder, Ayadi Health

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Apr 6, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The project was delivered with non-functioning code and no support provided from Magora when problems were raised. Their team blamed the client for not being able to use the product and denied multiple requests to reorganize the project or provide discounts on the hours they had billed.
""Right from the beginning, the verbal agreements were never executed properly."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Respondent 1: I’m the founder of Ayadi, a mental health application startup.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

R1: My target audience was people in the Gulf region that have mental health problems. The app was supposed to be a platform that connected clinicians with patients. I wanted to provide a professional service for the region because there’s a lack of therapists there.

Because reputation is a big thing there, people didn’t really want to go to clinics. I felt like having an app would be a great idea. I’m monetizing the app by taking a percentage from each session cost. I need to do that in order to keep the service going.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

R1: They first gave me a price, then put me in touch with the Managing Director and we had a meeting. I just wanted to close the deal, but he seemed to be going back and forth. As someone who’d never done this before, I didn’t know the process. Of course, I needed an in-depth explanation, and I feel like they just wanted to close the deal, and didn’t really care about what I was trying to do.

I wanted to build the app for iOS, Android, and the web. The mobile versions were native.

What is the team dynamic?

R1: I worked with a project manager and a business analyst.

How did you come to work with Magora?

R1: I found them on Clutch, where they had really good reviews. I reviewed three companies in total, and I felt I wanted to go with Magora. At the end of the day, my background is in psychology, and I wouldn’t say I’m amazing on the business side.

What is the status of this engagement?

R1: The project started in late-November 2018. They kept telling me that we’re going to launch, and, at the end, I told them we’re not going to do this anymore. I think I reached my limit and moved by October 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

R1: They told us that the app was done and we should do UAT testing. During that time, if the core functionalities of the app were not working, then they’d revaluate UAT testing. The two core functionalities of the app were video and tests, and they weren’t working during UAT testing. When we told them this, they said that it was working, and we should try it another way. I remember going crazy at the time, thinking that I was doing it wrong. I just didn’t understand what was going on.

I’m not a techie; I just have a passion for mental health, psychology, and helping people. I don’t really know these things, and I doubted myself. I told them to just be honest with me and tell me if they’re having issues. I used that approach more than anything, and I think that that’s why they felt it was okay to continue this. They told us that it was because of our devices, and I kind of believed that.

R2: We got a very bad deal from Magora. Right from the beginning, the verbal agreements were never executed properly. For example, we were never told that it would be a bunch of freelancers working on our projects, and not Magora’s staff. Basically, Magora was doing nothing but subcontracting the whole project to a bunch of freelancers, which wasn’t good for us in any way.

R1: They were charging us something like $60 or £60 per hour. I remember that the name of one of the freelance developers came up during a conference call. I looked him up, and he was charging $20 per hour. I asked them why they were charging us this much and asked for a discount, given that the quality was so low, but they told us that that was the usual price of development. I told him I looked him up on Upwork and he was $20, and he told me he had nothing to say about that.

R2: The core problem was that we were promised a lot and nothing was delivered they committed to deliver. I don’t know how, but they have a very good reputation and reviews, and we were carried away by that. It was a very bad experience. An app that should’ve taken around six months to complete took more than a year and still wasn’t completed. We’ve had to rework a lot of functionalities.

The architecture was a mess because, since it was made by freelancers, they weren’t coordinating between themselves very well. Different pieces of code were written by different people in different ways.

How was project management handled?

R1: Sometimes, people who are in higher positions, especially men, tend to pressure you in a way, when you’re younger and you don’t understand. It’s been two years and a half, and I feel I understand the business better, and I’ve learned a lot of things.

I just felt like they took advantage of the situation. They saw me as someone that’s vulnerable, and they took advantage of that.

It’s been two years, and I’m still kind of traumatized. I just moved to another application company, and they’re great. Comparing the two of them, I think everyone should have the same kind of experience I’m having with the new application company.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

R1: Valentine (Senior Product Manager) was the only person I really liked, and who I felt was suffering with us and didn’t know what to do.

In what specific areas can they improve?

R2: The freelancer structure was the root cause of all our problems. Neither did the quality come out well, nor were our requirements plotted out and executed in a fashion that we wanted. Everything went haywire because they weren’t committed to delivering what was promised. Everything was a mess.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

R2: We also took proactive measures in finding solutions, rather than breaking off. What happened was that many of the issues happened toward the end of the project, and the time and cost for fixing them went beyond any acceptable means.

We were running out of time, and each change request would increase the cost. We were trying our best from our side to proactively help out, but it really didn’t work. The last six months was just trying to work out things, but it never happened.

**The Review** — Mar 2, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Magora delivers focused and legible code that supports functional products to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders. The team provides tools to maintain accessibility, which results in a streamlined engagement. They produce deliverables promptly, leading to ongoing collaboration.
""The cleanliness of their code stands out."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the lead front- and backend developer for a financial education company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We wanted to modernize our software but our older developer didn't produce scalable or up-to-date products. We didn’t have a team to maintain good development practices.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora delivered an overarching program to house all of our individual applications. They also built an application for us including the frontend, which has charting capabilities for all of our recommendations for users. The charts display notifications for when users should act. Their team also built features for recommendations to display in a table format. There’s backend logic to determine a good or bad trade based on rural sets.

What is the team composition?

We work with a main point of contact who liaises between teams and communicates fluently.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We searched Upwork for companies and picked between 3–4 to complete a basic project for us, which gave us an idea of their teams’ skill sets. The project was a basic charting application because that was a big feature of the final application. Magora won out of the top three choices.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in July 2019 and have an ongoing collaboration.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We wanted clean, well-documented code to read easily. I reviewed their code firsthand to make sure that they used the correct development standards. They do a good job of keeping clean, standard code, which makes us happy. We’re happy with the application their team built.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

We use a program called Mattermost. I also talk with the individual developers, a project manager, and the liaison. We communicate with Trello regarding specific questions about the development. Their team’s good with deadlines, completing assignments when needed to be completed. This helps my bosses who want to leverage the products quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The cleanliness of their code stands out. When we compared the top three candidates for this project, Magora provided the cleanest code. Their team gets back to us quickly, which is important. When their team sets deadlines, they make them. And when they can’t make a deadline, their team explains the reasons for it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only challenge we face is that Magora’s too in demand. We wanted to start the development of another product in February, but their team was too busy to get it started. It’s a good situation for them but their plate was too full to work on our development request.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be as descriptive as possible for them. Their team asked questions and tried to understand our project well. They do a good job on the communication front, so answer their questions in a timely manner.

**The Review** — Dec 17, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Magora executed a clean build, ultimately delivering a bug-free app that runs smoothly. Internal stakeholders were particularly pleased that the team managed expectations and necessitated minimal oversight. They were proactive about providing suggestions when they saw room for improvement.
"“They came through as more of a tech partner rather than just developers for hire.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a researcher and designer at AlphaRCA Studio, a research studio in London.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We needed help developing a mobile app MVP.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora developed our mobile app for iOS and Android using Flutter. First, we went back and forth on a feature list and product mapping to determine our budget and timeline. From there, Magora took all of our designs and more robustly mapped out all of the different user stories and journeys. We created a really detailed list of everything that needed to be built, how long it would take to develop, and things of that nature.

Once we made some changes to that list and agreed to it, Magora started building. We had an ongoing back-and-forth about potential changes to the product as the developers worked.

What is the team composition?

I regularly interacted with an account manager, a project manager, and a business analyst/developer.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We found Magora on Upwork. We put out a request, did some due diligence, and talked about the project with a member of their account management team. They gave us some quotes. We ended up going with Magora because they were a larger agency with a lot more resources than just an individual freelancer. After looking at other projects they’d done and people they’d worked with, they seemed much more capable of delivering a quality build than other options on Upwork.

How much have you invested with them?

My company spent about $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work with Magora began in July 2019, and we completed the work at the beginning of December.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We just launched the app a couple of days ago. Magora produced a really clean build; our QA team found very few bugs in the app, and it runs smoothly.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They kept delivering quality work, so I could be hands-off and do other things. I didn’t need to oversee them too much or micromanage anything. I was hoping for somebody who could handle development so that I didn’t have to be too involved, and that’s what Magora ended up being.

We were in communication daily. We ran into a time zone challenge now and then, but overall, project management was good. Magora’s team was as communicative as we wanted them to be; I requested weekly updates, but they were more than willing to provide daily rundowns. They managed expectations around time, so there was never any over- or under-promising. They always developed things well and hit exactly what they said they would.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The efficiency and ease of working with them were impressive. The fact that they met our expectations without us having to be too involved was quite helpful. They didn’t just do exactly what we as the client asked for; they also worked to help make things better. They were proactive throughout the development process and used their expertise to offer advice that would help improve things. As a designer, I leveraged some of their technical expertise. They came through as more of a tech partner rather than just developers for hire.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing I can think of.

Any advice for potential customers?

They’re an agency, so they’re constantly trying to allocate their people as efficiently as possible. If you have a good idea of what you want, they’ll move on it quickly. However, if you’re still trying to make decisions, the process could be slower, and they might have to reallocate resources. Go to them with a clear idea of what you want, the budget, and timing, and they’ll be really efficient at getting started.

**Feedback Summary**: The website received positive feedback from the board, providing a solid foundation for the organization. Magora successfully translates concepts into technical solutions, keeping in mind the business model at hand. The team is personable, adaptable, and talented.
"“Their ability to take our ideas and concepts and figure out how they could be accomplished stood out.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the development manager at a rural development nonprofit.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We are working on a new platform that creates a more efficient way of doing international development work and needed development help.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora developed and designed the website for our new platform. The website allows development professionals to find work or organizations or create projects that can get funded. There are a lot of opportunities for members of the site to communicate and transact with one another so they can create projects. Their team built the site on WordPress.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact was our business development manager. There were two main individuals we worked with but they had a larger team of 7–10 including the technical and business sides.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We found Magora on Upwork. After going through a selection process, we narrowed it down to three top candidates. What set Magora apart was the feedback they had received on Upwork. We felt that they had the technical qualifications but would also be able to help us think through the business model. Magora had a good sense of how to make sure our model worked so we could generate funding going forward.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested about $45,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Magora ran from January–December 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are currently in the process of building the community of practitioners that will be using the platform. Our global board of directors has said that the website is a great first step for what we want to accomplish. Before we just had a static website so this is a big improvement. The board thought it was the ideal foundation for us to build upon.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

Magora does a very good job of managing projects. We had a very tight timeframe from the beginning and they were able to deliver on that. Their communication was very prompt. After every call, they would send a summary of the feedback and action items. Magora is open to feedback and adapts accordingly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to take our ideas and concepts and figure out how they could be accomplished stood out. Magora consistently tried to understand our vision and translate it accordingly. They are able to take conceptual ideas and make them into something that really works. They would even map out specific examples. We were very pleased with the amount of detail they were able to extract from our concepts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We did have to provide them feedback early on because they use very technical terms that we weren’t as familiar with. We were looking for a simpler breakdown of the budget and let them know. Within a few days, they were able to provide us with that. At first, we wanted more communication between teams but once we let them know, they provided us with more insight into their process. Overall, it was a great experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Spend more time on the front end describing your overall vision for the website during the data collection phase. Don’t rush into the actual development. Magora shines in their ability to help you think strategically about your business model. Take the time to get the most value out of the experience.

**The Review** — Nov 19, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The development has been successfully adopted by breweries and provides advertising opportunities for the client. Magora produces high-quality and streamlined products that fit the specific needs of the client. The team is innovative and talented.
""The professionalism that Magora showed from discovery to delivery was unmatched."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

BarTrack creates revolutionary draft beer monitoring equipment, as well as providing managers with an inventory management platform that allows them to effortlessly manage their inventory and ensure that their product is being served at the highest quality while also minimizing waste. I am the Chief Technology Officer and am in charge of all software development for the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Magora?

We were interested in creating a digital menu that allowed establishments to display what beverages they currently have on-tap, information about those beverages, and the corresponding price. This digital menu is controlled via our inventory management platform and effectively acts as a customer-facing mirror for the establishment to engage customers and decrease the time it takes to order drinks. Magora was in charge of facilitating all of the front-end development of the project.

What were your goals for this project?

We gave Magora freedom in choosing what language would be utilized for developing the project - the core importance to us was having a reactive design that updated the data being displayed in real-time. Some constraints of this project were utilizing an Amazon FireTV's built-in Firefox browser as the engine for this service. The overall goal of this project was to allow managers to engage with customers using a modern approach combined with our existing platform.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We discovered Magora through UpWork and engaged with them relatively quickly. Our initial contact with them was very professional and they made an effort to be relatable and showed an interest in understanding the problem so that they could develop a solution that exceeded our goals and expectations. Communication and availability were key determinants in selecting Magora for this project. Magora demonstrated clear written and oral communications and swiftly delivered an initial estimate after exploring the project requirements. They asked thought-provoking questions that led to interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing us to ensure that we delivered the highest quality product to the customer.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

BarTrack provided the design documentation, back-end API & Database support, and the hardware that the solution would be running on. Magora was in charge of handling the front-end portion that would utilize the API to access the database and then render the information on the hardware for the customer to see. We began our discussions with Magora by explaining the problem, then the opportunity, and finally our solution.

We began by presenting the information in a mixture of written and visual storytelling to convey our vision to which Magora asked questions to further their understanding. Once we settled on who was handling which elements of the project we established a timeline and work began. Throughout the development process, Magora's team engaged with us to clarify things, as well as to provide us with suggestions and feedback. When it came time to deploy the project to Production, Magora was available on-call to help address any issues that could arise.

What was the team composition?

The team's composition was lean with 1 sales / project manager and 2 developers

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The repeated successful execution of this project in multiple big-name establishments has been an incredible advertising tool for BarTrack since we are branded on the digital menu. Customers and other managers are able to see some of the auxiliary services that our platform provides.

Our customers have also observed a 10-15% increase in sales for beers that are displayed on Digital Menu as customers are more likely to choose those when they go to order another drink. An added bonus is the ability for managers to customize what logo they want to be displayed, incentivizing them to add bright and visually appealing graphic designs to represent each beverage.

Beverages that have customized graphic designs pop out more than their generic counterparts and further contribute to driving sales for that particular beverage. Not only are establishments making more money, but they are able to have higher customer throughput since the beverage name, producer, type, style, and pricing are all clearly displayed for customers which drastically reduces the number of time customers spend trying to figure out what they want to drink.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

This project was very effectively managed with strict adherence to a tight deadline. Magora suggested that we utilize dedicated Production & Development GitHub repositories so that we could make iterations without impacting our current customers. We predominately engaged each other through Slack and were able to effectively communicate and address any questions as soon as they came up. We did not encounter any language barriers and despite having a 7-hour timezone difference we were able to maintain effective communications.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about Magora was their desire to understand both the problem and solution so that they could make an educated decision on the best path forward. We spent a little extra time in the discovery phase, however, I believe that this paid off in the long run because there were no unaddressed questions and expectations were clearly laid out. The professionalism that Magora showed from discovery to delivery was unmatched.

Are there any areas for improvement?

One thing that I was a little uncertain about when we first engaged Magora was paying for work upfront. Typically other companies billed us as they accumulated hours or completed milestones - this is not a big deal, it simply differed from past experiences.

Co-founder, Humango
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Sep 5, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Due to a lack of alignment at the start of the timeline, Magora could not fully realize the stakeholders’ vision. However, the team was flexible within the resource constraints. They were a responsive group, and they addressed bugs proactively.
""I think they are a really great team, but we had different ideas about the end product..."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder of Humango. Our company is focused on creating a lifestyle comparison platform. We are aiming to create a community where people could be inspired by comparing lifestyles with each other. So far, it’s an iOS app.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We don’t have anyone who is technical on our team that could actually write an app. That’s where Magora played an important role.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They designed and developed the app. It has launched, but our internal team is still working on it.

During the engagement, we talked with Magora every other week. Each first week, we would talk about the project and the plan for the following two weeks. The following meeting, they would deliver a prototype for us to review. That repeated for two months.

We sketched wireframes and flows of how we wanted the app to work, and we delivered that to them. But, we weren’t sure how the process would work since this was our first time working with an app company.

Mainly, they wanted to know what functions we wanted. Then, they would be the ones to design the wireframes. So, they re-did the wireframes and considered the UX.

What is the team composition?

We communicated through the project manager. They have a team of people with everyone required to complete a mobile app (e.g. UI design and front and-backend engineers).

How did you come to work with Magora?

We contacted many different teams who work with apps, and we ended up choosing Magora.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested $30,000 with the team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from May 2019 to July 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I think they are a really great team, but we had different ideas about the end product from the beginning. That was an obstacle we had to go through together.

They wanted us to communicate what we wanted so they could design it. But, that’s where the issue arose. Without providing wireframes, it was hard to communicate exactly what we had in mind. It was also hard to understand what they had in mind.

We both understood the aim. But, the same function could be presented in very different ways. So, the solution ended up missing things we really wanted. Basically, we had to trade in stuff.

We aren’t proud of the app that was collaboratively made with Magora because there are many things that we gave up. Without those features, the app doesn’t represent our original vision. It’s only half-way there.

We wanted to create a community, but people on the app can’t talk to each other. While users can see each other’s profiles, they can’t interact. That's a big problem for an online community.

People like our business idea, but our app doesn’t represent that idea. People are saying, “why is it missing that?” and “what do I do now?” So, now, we’re still working on the app.

Since it’s our first time working with a developer team, partly it was our misunderstanding. But, these are the consequences we have to face. However, they did perform well when technical bugs arose.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager did well — they are quite a coordinated team. They responded quickly to the questions that we asked. We used Zoom and Google Hangouts to collaborate.

They had a set timeframe and deliverables, but there was room for negotiation. This was great, but it was also a downside because we ended up having to give up features.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are quite organized. I was impressed that they were able to identify errors and bugs in the logic before we did. I think they were constantly thinking about it. This showed that they cared about the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s understandable that things will change throughout the process. But, the biggest issue was that we didn't begin at the same starting point.

I would hope in the future, they will make sure of the nitty-gritty details of what the other team wants. They should make sure they understand the idea and how it should be presented. The problems were our differences at the starting point, not in the middle.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Potential customers should present all the project details to Magora and ensure Magora understands. Then, Magora should say “no,” if they think there is another way to do things.

This conversation has to happen before anything else starts. The future customer should do their homework and know every deliverable before starting the project. A general idea may be implemented in a way that’s different from how the client originally imagined.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Magora?

Design and development of a customized mobile inspection system.

What were your goals for this project?

To build a fully functioning standalone tool that could be used in both an online and offline capacity. We also want to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing the amount of paper required to complete standard inspections.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

Wide range of service offerings, competitive pricing.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Magora were required to provide the following:

Mindmap
	User stories
	Workflow

	Description of nun-functional requirements
	Two interface design concepts
	Detailed budget estimates for development
	Architect check-list
	Regression testing
	Environment setup
	UI/UX infrastructure
What was the team composition?

We dealt directly with two project managers, one was running the costing and admin side of things while the other was in charge of the development. We communicated mainly via email and through slack.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Development of the software is incomplete but has been going well. There are inherent issues with what we are trying to achieve, but the Magora team have been fairly swift with their responses and reactions to our queries. This project will incur huge cost savings for our company once we have a working system.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

It was easy to communicate with the Magora project managers and I had no issues trying to set up calls or Skype sessions with them when there was a pressing matter to discuss.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Easy to work with, quick responses and the project managers are always willing to assist where they can.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We have fallen a little behind in terms of our desired build timeline, this would be the only negative issue we have had to deal with so far. Australian companies need to be aware that Magora HQ is in Europe so there will be a time difference, however this was not an issue for me personally.

"“They delivered pretty much everything I asked for in the website.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

My company is an early-stage startup for artists who want to teach music. I’m the founder, but I also handle HR, customer service, and data analytics.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

I wanted help building a website from scratch.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They managed the 12-hour time difference and built the platform from the ground up. First, Margora assembled a team of support engineers, designers, and consultants who could address my needs, ensuring the site was built the way I wanted it. In the discovery phase, we bounced ideas off each other, and they kept me updated on their work as they made progress.

Over the course of the project, Magora added features that made it much simpler for people to use. Now, it's possible for musicians to post their classes along with what time they’ll be streaming. They used PHP to develop the backend and Angular.js for the frontend.

I’ll be deploying the site on my own, but Magora sent me a very detailed guide on how to do it. Once it’s launched, the app will serve artists and musicians wanting to teach music. It will, using AWS, allow musicians to stream lessons for their subscriber base.

What is the team composition?

There were three software engineers, one designer, one consultant, and a salesperson.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I posted the job on an online platform, and several companies wanted to do the job. I interviewed all of them, and Magora seemed like the right fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project lasted from March 2018–June 2019. Magora has since offered to help with continued maintenance, fixing bugs and lags. There’s potential for the relationship to move forward.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site is not live yet, but friends of mine say that it is easy to navigate. So far, its many features, including the streaming and subscription services, are functioning. Everything looks to be reliable, and there are no bugs yet. I’m not sure how this might change going from ten users to 1,000, though.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

We used conference calls and video calls that allow us to share screens. We’ve also exchanged tons of emails primarily due to the major time difference. They use Jira within their company for the engineers and designers to work together.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They delivered pretty much everything I asked for on the website. I’m very happy with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be nice if they could respond to emails a little more promptly. There were also several religious and national holidays over the course of the project, and the work completely stopped during that time.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re a great team that can handle almost anything in the tech industry. I’d recommend being somewhat assertive and proactive in terms of communication to make sure everything gets done.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**

We’ve had no problems communicating over the internet since the project managers and developers are based in Russia. They took a thorough approach to project management, meeting all our expectations. We have regular calls and can follow their progress on Trello.

What did you find most impressive about them?
They understood our goals, and we quickly felt they were a part of our team. They've taken ownership of their role in the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?
We are really happy with their work so far.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If clients are clear and detailed in their communication with Magora, it will be a more productive partnership. We held initial education sessions, and it helped ensure a smooth process.

**The Review** — Dec 10, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Where other developers failed, Magora succeeded in delivering a fast, high-performance streaming service. They accomplished the work as requested and responded quickly to resolve issues. They also delivered tasks beyond the scope immediately. The team offers strong expertise and excellent service.
"“The quality of development work they provided was great, and their suggestions were especially helpful.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

iSapiens provides e-learning services to banks and insurance companies in Italy. I’m the technical lead, responsible for app development.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

I’ve worked with them a couple of times on different projects. For our first project with Magora, we developed an innovative application that used online video streaming in combination with e-learning. Our challenge was to find the right technology to do that, and the previous company we worked with wasn’t able to provide a good solution. Magora helped us find a solution.

For the second project, our challenge was time, given that the project was already in development. We needed to increase our development power in order to finish more quickly. We hired Magora, and they provided quick services.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

On the first project, I explained the scope and how the previous company didn’t satisfy us. They discussed it with their development architect, developers, and DevOps, and proposed an alternate solution, namely OpenTok, a cloud platform streaming service. The application was developed in PHP initially with a MySQL database and HTML, jQuery, and JavaScript on the frontend. The OpenTok streaming service uses WebRTC and provides remote APIs for what we needed to do; the developers from Magora established connections with those in order to retrieve data, as well as start, stop, and cut video.

For our last project, we needed to perform enhancements on the application. We hired the developer from Magora for one week, and he started working on it immediately.

What is the team composition?

For the first project, we hired a couple of full-stack PHP and JS developers, a DevOps specialist, and a project manager. We used one frontend developer for the last project.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I found them on Upwork. We posted the job and I verified that the applicants use the technologies we needed and checked on their hours and reviews on Upwork. I shortlisted five companies and talked to their developers and project managers and then decided that Magora fit our needs.

How much have you invested with them?

The first project had a budget of €30,000 (approximately $34,000 USD), and the last one cost $1,400.

What is the status of this engagement?

The previous project started in April 2017 and finished in November of that year. We started the latest one a month ago, and it took one week.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The streaming service is successful; it works quickly and almost without latency. Magora accomplished our tasks and suggested options in case something didn’t work or wasn’t the right solution. The quality of development work they provided was great, and their suggestions were especially helpful.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They provided quality work on time. As the technical person on my team, I prefer working with technical people and not with project managers. Magora prefers to use project managers, but my involvement with them was minimal.

As with any ongoing development, there were some bugs. When we identified one, we reported it to Magora using Bitbucket. They fixed everything, and they did it all according to our deadlines.

We used Skype for communication, and we also used the Upwork platform in the beginning. We used email to send sensitive data and information.

What did you find most impressive about them?

There were a couple of times when I asked them to do some tasks urgently, which were outside of the contract. They provided them extraordinarily quickly, and that part was amazing. They’re available at any time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When I worked with their project manager, I sometimes felt that their understanding of technical things was lacking at some points, and it was easier for me to talk with the developers.

**The Review** — Nov 9, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Magora delivered an MVP that brought the initial concept to life perfectly.  They maintained consistent and transparent communication and contributed innovative ideas. The platform combines ease-of-use with a transparent cost structure to enhance the end-to-end purchasing process for consumers.
"“Magora is a very dynamic and creative team.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Carvingo is an online trade service that sells products like automotive accessories both wholesale and retail. We’re an official reseller of spare parts for cars and motorcycles on the Russian Federation market. As the director general, I am the main decision maker for our company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We wanted to provide our e-commerce retail customers with a convenient and automated tool to order our products. We hired Magora to develop a bespoke internet platform. Wholesale and retail customers in the Russian Federation are our target market.

Our main goals are to increase the quantity of users and paid subscriptions and start a positive trend of user growth, revenue, and ROI. Qualitatively, we hope to improve our business process and customer satisfaction through this development project.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The scope of work includes every stage of the development cycle from ideation to support. Starting with a discovery phase, Magora helped us plan a monetization strategy and brainstorm the design concept. The MVP is currently in progress. After completing development, the team will provide ongoing maintenance.

Our software system is comprised of a web platform and mobile apps. It automates the process of searching for spare car parts online. Through our platform, customers can purchase both original products and cheaper substitutes based on the car's VIN-number.

Our business compiles disaggregated data distilled from several databases. To provide relevant search results, it automatically calculates a variety of factors. Magora built integrations with our suppliers' and contractors' software systems for compatibility with several payment tools that manage different currencies.

How did you come to work with Magora?

A couple of years ago, we opened a competition for vendors to develop a microservice solution to replace our existing monolith software system. Magora had successfully implemented that type of project before and won our tender. In need of a new project development, we got in touch with the team directly.

How much have you invested with them?

Our project cost between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in July 2017 and is currently ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Magora is a professional, tight-knit team of great people. They take a very proactive approach.

We've successfully developed the expansion project for the Russian market. Our convenient platform and transparent price policy will revolutionize the way buyers order spare car parts. Operating manually leads to frequent mistakes and drives up prices. With our new automation product, we can remove the middleman, prevent errors, and reduce costs.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

Magora completed the discovery phase on time and within our budget. Currently, they’re implementing the MVP for the product.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Magora is a very dynamic and creative team. They maintain an open line of dialogue and demonstrate out-of- the-box thinking. Ultimately, they provided a brilliant realization of our ideas in the tasks they implemented.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We are very satisfied with our partnership and believe Magora will continue working at such a high standard in the future.

I’m the founder and CEO of an iPad-based visitor sign-in system. We have thousands of businesses that subscribe across 40 countries.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We hired Magora to develop our web- and iOS-based applications.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora developed a cloud-based web application and a native iOS application. Our in-house designer provided wireframes and Magora executed the design.

The application allows visitors to sign in on an iPad and then sends a notification to the host. The web app also allows the host to track daily visitors and print a visitor badge. The host has the option to pre-register visitors.

What is the team composition?

Alex (Senior Developer, Magora) served as our project manager and our main point of contact. We also worked with Arthur (Head of Sales, Magora).

How did you come to work with Magora?

We searched for contractors on a freelance website. Magora had great reviews and had a good culture fit with our team.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested between $50,000–$200,000.

We started working together in November 2014 and the project ended in March 2015.

Sometimes we would contact Alex daily, but other times we communicated only twice a week. But we never had problems getting in touch. Even after the completion of the solution, the team has been very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our relationship was very cordial and professional. We genuinely liked their team and we have maintained a good relationship with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t evaluate that now because their company has changed so much in the years since the engagement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clients should scope the project fully before beginning any development.

**Feedback Summary**: Magora’s team took a business concept and translated it into a concrete demo under a tight deadline. They communicated effectively and proved willing to undertake unusual projects.
"“They did the work well and delivered everything within their initial timeframes.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a finance startup in the UK.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We hired them to build a product demo for us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I’m not a designer, so I had them create what was essentially an online slideshow to demo the web platform I intend to build. They designed the UI/UX concepts for the proposed site and demonstrated a customer journey from initial registration to browsing for products and adding them to a shopping cart. There were additional slides depicting user account features and functionality.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was James, and then they assigned a designer. There was an additional designer based in Russia who occasionally joined us for conference calls, but I’m not sure how they split the work.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I received a few recommendations by word of mouth.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was under $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

They completed the project in about six weeks from June to July 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before hiring Magora, we had a hard time getting people’s attention and creating enthusiasm for our product. Their demo work significantly increased our success at getting people to back our startup.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They did well, considering that they weren’t native English speakers and didn’t have much familiarity with the British banking market. We had an initial meeting face to face, which helped with communication at the start, and then we kept in touch via phone, Skype, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They did the work well and delivered everything within their initial timeframes. We were under a tight deadline to have something to present for meetings and they took us from a blank piece of paper to a finished design very quickly. I only wish we’d had more time because I know they could have done even more for us.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be shy about asking for what you want. Our project was a bit outside the realm of their normal jobs, but they embraced it and turned out good work.

We needed help developing the iOS version of the application.

**SOLUTION**

They provided support on the iOS side and backend development using Java. We sent them a list of the features we wanted, based on which they sent us a quotation.

Users have access to maps and a currency converter, they can make reviews, and add photos and videos. The app also has a check-in functionality similar to Facebook’s and creates a timeline of the trip.

I had a sales contact and a project manager from their side. I also worked with a Java team lead and a Java engineer.

The cost of the project was $75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Magora in May 2017. The project was completed around January 2018. There are still providing help with some small items.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have any statistics about it. The app launched recently and Magora did a good job with it.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a good job in this respect. We worked on Upwork, through which they logged the number of hours spent on our project, also communicating using Skype. I had a call with their project manager every week, going through what they had achieved, and whether the work met my requirements or not. The process was smooth.

"“They started and finished on time, produced work reliably, and made the whole process seamless.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We offer a social networking iOS application. I'm the company's CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?
We developed and coded our app in-house, but don’t have an internal design team. We wanted a company to help with that aspect of the build.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We provided them with a basic blueprint for the number of screens we wanted and reasonably detailed requests for each screen. They designed each screen’s icons, colors, fonts, and layout. Their main objectives were to make our concepts useful and improve the UI design.
We provided written guidance to describe our brand vision and potential logos. We looked over their work on a weekly basis over four to five weeks. We provided comments and feedback before receiving the next iteration from them.
What is the team composition?
We had an account manager who acted as our main initial contact and worked with us throughout the project. He provided quotes and introduced us to members of the design team. We were also in direct contact with a lead designer.
How did you come to work with Magora?
They approached a friend of ours who knew we were looking for a team like theirs. We had poor experiences with three individual freelancers in the past and decided we wanted to work with a company.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about £5,000 ($7,029.40 US).
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together between February and March 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of their design work is very good. We are satisfied with what they delivered and their cost. They were very timely.
How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?
They did very well, particularly in light of experiences we’ve had with freelance designers. They started and finished on time, produced work reliably, and made the whole process seamless. We interacted with our contacts via email or Skype whenever we needed.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their reliability and consistency—especially relative to project timelines and budget—were great.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Early in the process, they delivered work that was inadequate. That could have been avoided with a more thorough read through our design brief. After that initial hiccup, they progressed nicely.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you brief the design team on all your expectations, likes, and dislikes. Put in the time early on to discuss all the design aspects and you’ll be satisfied with the results. They work hard and are reliable.

**The Review** — Mar 12, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Magora’s collaborative efforts led to high-quality deliverables that exceeded expectations and specifications. Throughout the ongoing development process, they remain responsive and receptive to any necessary changes to the app’s design.
""They produce very high-quality, professional work that meets my specifications."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a mobile app-based hiring platform geared towards the healthcare profession.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

I reached out to Magora to assist me in the initial stages of development for my app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora and I initially discussed the best development options that would take my app to fruition. They then sent over a powerpoint presentation that outlined their experience with development projects similar to mine, as well as their specific plan for my app.

After we agreed on a plan, we moved into the discovery phase which entailed laying out the basic workflow for the app’s development and fleshing out the app’s requirements and features. Based on that, Magora created a visual prototype and wireframe that lay out the groundwork design for the app.

Currently, I’m providing my feedback on the visual prototype so Magora can make the necessary changes.

What is the team composition?

Initially, my primary contact was Magora’s head of new business acquisition. They then assigned me a project manager who now serves as the primary day-to-day contact for the project. Their head of new business acquisition checks in every couple weeks and remains available if I ever need to speak with him.

How did you come to work with Magora?

I did a fair amount of market research, using both Clutch.co and a variety of other sources to compile a list of companies to look into. Magora received great ratings, particularly on Clutch, and seemed to have a good rapport with the companies they’ve worked with, so I decided they were the best choice for my project.

How much have you invested with them?

I invested approximately $8,423.

What is the status of this engagement?

I began partnering with them at the end of December 2017. The engagement is ongoing, but I haven’t decided whether I will continue to work with them through the next phases of development.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They produce very high-quality, professional work that meets my specifications. They’re also very receptive to any changes I need to be made.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a good job; they were very responsive to my needs and expectations. We communicated primarily through Skype, email, and phone calls. For project management tools, we use Google Docs to keep track of our progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I found their professionalism and collaborative effort most impressive. They provided me with a definitive and accurate timeline of when they would deliver on each project milestone. They were also very receptive to my ideas, while also providing me with some of their own. As a result, our communication was never robotic; we had a very productive partnership.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re on the more expensive side, but they provide high-quality work so it’s generally worth the cost.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d simply recommend working with them. They’re reliable and produce high-quality work.

**The Review** — Feb 2, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: The site has yet to gather external feedback, but internally, the coding is considered excellent. Magora is able to meet all expectations with little need for revision. Despite the time difference, they respond to all needs in a timely manner.
"“... we’re very pleased with their code quality. It’s very responsive and does exactly what we want.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the vice president of a cryptocurrency ecommerce platform that specializes in loyalty programs.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Our site platform was built on Wordpress, and we wanted to rebuild it on a much more secure and flexible platform. Wordpress didn’t work as well with different APIs we wanted to further our venture. We also wanted a new vendor because our vendor at the time wasn’t very responsive to our requests to customize the site.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora rebuilt our website using the LAMP model with C++, PostgreSQL, Java, and Python. That enabled additional functionality for the site, such as the ability to create our own customer categories, which allows us to customize the shopping experience for our users and provide more compelling content. For instance, we’re now able to build and customize a category for Valentine’s Day that can include flowers, chocolate, rings, and other holiday-appropriate items.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project manager, a business analyst, and an account manager. Although there are other business analysts and developers that work on this project, I only speak to those three.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We sent out an RFI to companies through UpWork. We had about four companies reaching out, including Magora, that had the price range that we needed. We ultimately chose Magora because their bid to work with us was extremely professional. While the other companies didn’t provide us with much information on their plan for our site, Magora gave us a 10-page Powerpoint listing the milestones they intended to meet, the price estimates, coding language they intended to use, etc. They also listed other loyalty programs they had worked on prior to us and which examples best fit the model we were trying to approach. Magora was also able to do development for iOS and Android, which is something we are interested in for the future.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested close to $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started partnering in June 2017. We’re launching the first phase of the site in early February.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site is currently in Amazon Web Services Micro Instances so we can run practice demos. We don’t have any external feedback yet, but internally, we’re very pleased with their code quality. It’s very responsive and does exactly what we want.

Magora is very good at capturing our expectations. For instance, I gave them a verbal description on Skype of what I wanted our categories to look like. They were then able to code and build that out without us having to suggest alterations.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m pleased with them. Because I only interacted with three members of their team, it made it easier to relay on questions, comments, or concerns I had.

To communicate, we used Trello and Confluence. We also spoke via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Although they are a Russian-based firm, their command of the English language is very impressive. They’re very responsive to us, despite the 12-15 hour time difference.

They’re also understanding to the fact we’re a start-up. When we had some funding challenges, they were accommodating and flexible, which was greatly appreciated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They use an agile project methodology, but they didn’t provide any visual representation of the website’s progress that I could bring back to our investment team. It would be great if they could provide a Gannett chart or another kind of visual project tracker I could use, as opposed to having to build my own Excel spreadsheet.

**The Review** — Dec 4, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The Agile sprints provided focus and trust in the team's impressive responsiveness and delivery capabilities. Though the MVP has been passed to a new developer, Magora continues to utilize their skillset as a consultant.
""They provided an excellent ratio of quality, price, and communication."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Eurekly, a New-Zealand-based startup, is an online educational platform that provides tools for one-on-one lessons. I'm a project manager in charge of delivery.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We needed to deliver an initial MVP.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora handled the design and development of the web-based project. We initially worked on the architecture and UX components. We provided detailed documentation of what was needed, along with mockups. Once those were approved, we moved to the development stage, for which we followed Agile practices, with two-week sprints. We identified the scope of each sprint together, deployed biweekly, and signed the work off. The technology stack included .NET on the backend and React.js on the frontend.

Because it's a marketplace connecting students and tutors online, we built functionalities to ensure that tutors are delivering their services, including maps, videoconferencing, messaging, whiteboards, scheduling, and payments.

What is the team dynamic?

I interacted with the entire team during general catchups, though mainly with the technical lead and the designer. Before we started development, we did a lot of work with their UX designer.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We didn’t create a regulated tender. There was a shortlist of candidates we selected by reading testimonials online. We submitted our project for them to scope and decided based on the price/quality ratio offered by Magora.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost of their work was slightly above $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Magora in August 2016. The project was completed in October 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We're happy with what they delivered. They stuck to the scope of the task, it was timely and of good quality, and communication was great. Our team still consults Magora from time to time, as they have great expertise regarding our project. Everything has been good.

Site metrics wouldn’t be relevant, given that we built an MVP with Magora and moved development to another team. The site is functional, but we are tweaking and tuning marketing-related components, and it's not live yet. After seeing a bit of traffic and a response, we will adjust accordingly.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

I handled project management for most of the collaboration. A manager from Magora was only involved in the last couple of weeks, while finishing the project and creating paperwork.

They used Redmine as an issue-tracking system. It was set up for us and proved a convenient tool. We used Skype to communicate daily. They were 100% responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They provided an excellent ratio of quality, price, and communication. The team was quite positive and had our best interests in mind.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. I was happy with them.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Anytime someone works with a contractor, they need to follow what’s best for the project. For us, working on a scrum basis was ideal—making small builds and deploying the work.

Lead Developer, Integrics

**The Review** — Nov 30, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The completed application has received positive feedback from its customers, but its most significant contribution is in the complete solution it now forms a part of. The team was responsive throughout, addressing any issue that arose professionally and quickly, and managing the project seamlessly.
"“The project management was the most impressive aspect.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Integrics is a software development company creating a product called Enswitch, a platform used by companies looking to offer B2B telephone services. I am a support person within the company and provide high-level support to customers experiencing issues and also manage the development of the product.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Our customers are looking for a complete solution. We wanted to make sure we covered every possibility the end-user could have a need for. We had a gap as we did not meet Windows users’ needs and wanted to develop a product to address that.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The interface is for our telephone system and what they created is a complete application. There hadn’t been a Windows program in place before. They used our documentation to access the telephone system via an API and started developing it, creating the look and feel of the application, as well as its internals: how it works and how it interfaces with user input.

What is the team dynamic?

We initially worked with a single project manager who set us up with a developer and handled the consultation process with our customer, discovering what they wanted in the product. From there, we set up an hourly rate quote and they assigned one main developer for the work. From time to time, there has also been a business manager to oversee the project. Aside from the main developer, they also made use of a couple of dedicated test people.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We looked for a company which could handle development and found Magora on Upwork. We wanted a professional development company with dedicated project managers and testers. I could see the advantage Magora could bring due to their scale and dedicated resources. They did well in terms of managing the project and testing our product, and this was due to their wide expertise.

How much have you invested with them?

The total is around $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Magora in August 2016 and finished in August 2017.

The product is now in maintenance mode. Occasionally, users come up with bugs which need to be fixed, but our major work with Magora has concluded.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Metrics are difficult for us to measure, given that we don’t have any end-users ourselves. We give the software to the businesses who purchase our telephone systems, who then give it to their end-users. We don’t have exposure to them, plus the software is quite a long-term investment, not necessarily something which customers will give to their users straight away.

We have had feedback from our customers’ technical people. They think it’s good, but the comments have been limited. The important thing is that our company can now provide a Windows application, so we can be assured we have a complete solution.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They have always been responsive. At one point, we had an issue with the estimate for a particular feature, which ended up taking longer to make. We asked about the increased cost and ultimately resolved the issue. They admitted that it didn’t go very well and asked what they could have done better. I told them that we should be made aware in advance when something might take longer, and they updated their processes accordingly. They seemed keen to take on our feedback.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project management was the most impressive aspect. As far as development goes, they did a perfectly good job, but there are many other companies which could have done the same. In terms of managing it from the client's side, my life can be made easier by the team remaining responsive and testing the work well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The inaccurate estimate was an issue at the time, but in the grand scheme, it wasn’t a large one. The biggest issue was that we wanted them to include a software telephone in the application, which involved using a software library they were unfamiliar with. This will always be a challenge, and in this case, it led to multiple bugs which needed to be fixed. They could have been more robust in their testing at that point. It was a piece of feedback we gave them. Overall, they did quite well.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I don’t have any specific advice to Magora. For someone hiring any software developer, it’s important to provide good specifications of the desired product, maintain communication, and offer feedback.

**The Review** — Nov 20, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Though still in the final stages, the app works well and has received positive feedback. Additional features will be integrated later, and any problems that appear are quickly solved. Price and process were somewhat confusing initially, but Magora quickly improved communication.
"“Magora listened to us throughout the project and had excellent customer service.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a branch operations manager for an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?
We wanted to find a way to streamline ordering and serving food at our branch; it was too time-consuming and not efficient, so we needed to partner with a dev company to replace the manual process with technology.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we were using a generic point of sale system, but we realized that it wasn’t meeting our needs as a buffet restaurant. We talked with Magora until they understood our business challenges and what we wanted from the app. They came up with a solution and we workshopped it until we reached a final idea, then they began developing the app.
The engineer team focused on making the app user-friendly, and they eventually ended up giving it three interfaces. The first is our backend admin panel where we can edit the menu items, control log ins, etc. The last two are made for an iPad or other iOS device, and they’re focused on the ordering. Customers can log in and place the order, and chefs can log in and look at the orders being placed. Everything is in real time, so the orders get sent to the kitchen right away.
What is the team dynamic?
I work directly with the sales manager, project manager, and a business analysts who oversees all the designs. I assume they have a larger team they all work with.
How did you come to work with Magora?
I received quotes from four different companies, two of which were in India and had lower prices. Magora was a higher price, but I chose them because their proposal document was promising and they seemed able to provide exactly what we needed.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $30,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started getting quotes in July, and we officially began working with Magora in September.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Right now, we have the minimal viable product. We’re still doing some debugging, but the app’s fully functional, and I’ve been setting up my team on it for about two weeks. It’s a good product, and we’re excited for some additional features we want to add in the future.
How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication is clear, and they don’t hide anything from us. They use a management tool that lets us track their work in real time to see what they’re currently do, any problems, future projects, etc. They usually respond to any emails or questions within a day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Magora listened to us throughout the project and had excellent customer service. We needed a product that worked well but that was also custom-designed for our specific needs and business model, and they met those expectations.
Are there any areas they could improve?
During the price negotiation, I was a bit confused about the technical work they mentioned, so a better explanation of that to non-tech-savvy people would be helpful. It would make the process and price clearer so that everyone knows what to expect.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They provide the option of daily, weekly, or monthly reports, so pick what works best for you.

Co-Founder, Parking Guide App
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Nov 2, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The app had over 10,000 downloads just a few months after launch. The team worked efficiently and with great skill, but their comprehensive communication was the true foundation of success. They took the time to ensure that technical aspects were understood and that their vision would translate into the app.
""They listened to what we wanted and gave us exactly what we expected."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I was a co-founder for an ambitious share-riding application company. We created a parking guide app, the idea being to provide an easy way for drivers in busy cities to find free parking lots. The company still operates, but I now work for another company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Our idea was to let app users know about free parking lots. The main challenge was how to make people use such application and share the location of the free spots. We wanted the only thing they'd need to do is have the application on their phone and start the car—that's it. The whole process would be automatic: the app would connect to the hands-free hardware in the car immediately after the engine started, and the system would understand that this particular spot would soon be vacant. It needed to be a simple and straightforward process to inform other users searching for those free spots. The app would provide a person searching for a parking spot with the nearest free one in the area and build the quickest route there. Building the route was a big challenge as well.

We wanted to find a team that could do everything in-house themselves, a partner who could provide us with the guidance and advice on how we should proceed and what we should do.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They did the whole solution, refining the details on how it should work, as there were some things we didn’t even think about. They did the design and development, advised on the hosting, built practically all the infrastructure, and provided initial support.

They offered different solutions, and we decided to go with Google Maps because it was most cost effective. They did a great job optimizing the application so the location was accurate. They natively built both the iOS and Android app. They used ASP.NET language for the backend, MS SQL for the database.

What is the team dynamic?

There were about 6 people overall on the team. I communicated with a project manager, and there was 1 iOS developer, 1 Android developer, the backend person, and a tester. We also had contact with the account manager who did the finances and helped us with projects and timeframes.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We found them on Upwork. It was a tough choice, as we were inexperienced in the IT sphere. Our main selection criteria were the expertise and ability to provide us with full guidance, from start to finish, to launch the solution. Magora’s proposal included a vision of how they understood the product and how they would implement it. It gave us confidence that they could do whatever we wanted. Their price was affordable, especially at that time.

How much have you invested with them?

$50,000–$199,999.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2015 until September/October 2015.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did everything within 3 months. There was a little bit of testing for bug fixes. Within several months after launch, we got around 10,000–15,000 downloads. We launched it in the U.S. and Europe. There were issues with the app at the beginning, but it was fine, as we had a support period from Magora. The average rating was 4.5, closer to 5, so we were very satisfied with the achieved result.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

It was very good. We communicated with the project manager and account manager through WhatsApp, and we also used Skype and email, all during non-working hours because of the time difference. Our project management tool was Asana. They provided us with almost daily reports in business language, not technical. Every 2 weeks, we received demonstrations for what they had achieved. We liked that they moved within the timeframe they initially quoted.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They listened to what we wanted and gave us exactly what we expected. They dug deep into all the details to try to clarify and help. Their communication was impressive, the key to the success of our app. For us, it was difficult to speak technical language to communicate what was needed. They took our business requirements and transformed it into tasks and into the app.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything was perfect. Perhaps they could have more offices in different parts of the world; it would've been convenient if they'd had a rep office in San Francisco so we could've gone and talked to someone from their team. Overall, they did very good, and I can’t think of an area they can improve.

**Feedback Summary**: Magora’s solution saves a minimum of 80 man-hours a month and has drastically improved the report generation process. The program has received positive feedback for its usability, functionality, and data enrichment. The team offers attentive, consistent customer service and good project management.
""Magora has done very well at onboarding us, selling to us, servicing us, and providing great post-service."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m currently on a contract for a company that provides a number of financial products, with our primary focus and area of expertise being hedge fund management. I’m in charge of Research & Development and all technical projects and innovation within our business.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

We were looking for a company to build a piece of software that was bespoke since there was nothing else on the market that could meet our needs and that we could then deploy to our customers as a tool for them to see the products they buy from us.

The ultimate goal was to have a system that could display data for our customers. We wanted this to be done in the form of tables and graphs, and once our registered users and customers could save funds in their portfolio, they could specify benchmarks, period of time, summarize and analyze the data for those financial products, build graphs, and look at the statistics. We could also specify the weight of each fund in the portfolio and generate monthly performance reports.

There are lots of features behind it, but what we wanted to do was give our customers some insight into how we are managing their money and how they are using the products they are buying from us.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I started off with an initial requirements list about what it is we wanted to achieve and what we wanted to have an outcome. I did some Skype calls and they came back the next day with some questions.

Magora was contracted to look at our needs, analyze those needs, come up with a proposition to build our software, build it, and now they maintain it for us.

The solution needed to be safe and secure. That was our most important consideration. Second, we wanted the product to be simple and easy to use because we had a very wide demographic for our customers from young people to older, private individuals who are investing their savings or professional investors who are looking for wealth managers like us. We wanted it where possible to be very slick and modern, and we wanted it to be very useful. Traditionally, our business sent out spreadsheets every month, and we wanted something that would present our business to our customers in a way that made us look as innovative as what we are.

What is the team dynamic?

We were told that we had 12 people working on the project on and off. We were given a dedicated project manager who was available all working hours of the day. That project manager was responsible for doing weekly reports and a number of catch-ups that were pre-arranged every week. There was an analyst I spoke with as well with the project manager. There was also two designers, developers, and back-office architecture guys that worked on building the secure Amazon platform for us.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We found Magora through a search engine and we spoke to them and another company. We spoke to an Indian-based company first. It wasn’t me who did the initial reaching. I looked at the two companies that had been selected by my assistant, and the person that we dealt with at Magora was very on the ball. From the moment, we sent the inquiry in and they were keen to engage with us and find out what our needs were.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $50,000 building the system. We’ve entered into an arrangement to maintain and support it and enhance it going forward which was on top of that.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in April 2017, and the project was completed in July 2017. They still provide ongoing support.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The ROI for this project in real terms is a measurable amount. It would take an entire week of work at the beginning of every month for 2 people to produce the reports, including downloading the data and producing Excel charts, data sheets, and graphs. The solution has saved a minimum of 80 hours a month which, in quantifiable terms, is quite substantial for us.

We’re happy with what they’ve built. We’ve received feedback from customers and they are really happy with what we’ve provided. In terms of usability, we’ve got excellent feedback with no criticisms. It’s the same with usability, functionality, and enriching the data. It speaks past customer expectations because these customers who are existing to our business were not pre-sold this product as part of our business. It’s effectively been given to them as an added value.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great and attentive. I felt that the project manager was the glue of the project. I’ve worked in software for quite a long time and I believe the project manager is the one that makes or breaks the business. They gave us a very good project manager, and I hope that she stays with Magora for quite a while.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What’s impressive is the consistency. From the very beginning to the end we were consistently serviced very well. I’ve had other experiences where companies are very good at selling but not good at delivering, and I think that Magora has done very well at onboarding us, selling to us, servicing us, as well as providing great post-service.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only feedback I have would be unachievable. I’ve worked with quite a few software companies, and I’m really happy with them. I would use them again and not just here, but I’ll recommend them to whoever I go to next.

Do you have any advice for potential clients?

It’s useful to work out your idea before you engage your software vendor and to put as much meat on the bones as you can in terms of what it is you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it, how it will look, how it might work. A lot of work has to be done if that’s not the case, and I think that’s a good thing to do. The second thing is to look at companies’ recent track records. Not what they’ve done in the last 3 - 5 years, but what they’ve done in the last 3 - 4 months and talk to customers who have worked with them over the last 3 - 4 months. It’s important because how good a company was 12 months ago doesn’t necessarily mean that they are still performing to the same standard if people have left or if the business has changed.

**Feedback Summary**: The team excelled at responding and fixing problems quickly. Customers are happy with the design and interface work done by Magora. The developer who was assigned was reasonably skilled and worked under the management of the in-house programmer.
""They came up with a great interface. It looks good, it works well, and our clients are happy with it."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of a web service company that performs detailed analyses of other people's data. We analyze and present the data to the clients through our web service.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Our main business challenge was that we needed programming resources to create web interfaces while also analyzing. We had a project that was a web presentation of data-specific analysis. We needed programming expertise.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an advanced report where we wanted to make the final specification as good as possible. Magora was supposed to implement a rather complicated calculation. There were a lot of aggregations and formulas.

We presented the report to one of their people and he thought he understood everything. He went back to Magora and we had a lot of interaction. He implemented the business logic of the report. This first part was analyzing the data and converting it into results to be stored in a structured database. After that, he was asked to present the results on a web platform. During the process, he got several smaller tasks that were well-defined and tried to fix errors and mistakes in the software. The main job he did was that big report though. All of the technologies were chosen up front. We had chosen the databases and the tools to use for the web interface. All of that was in place. They did not assist with the basic design.

They did come up with a design proposal for a very technically-detailed report. It's more for data display, but it was a good interface.

What is the team dynamic?

We had one developer and one project manager. They came up with the design but there were other people involved. I think the dynamics were fine, but we don't have a lot of experience with that. The majority of the work was done by a single programmer.

How did you come to work with Magora?

It was done through various channels. Our programmer came from another company in the same area as Magora. We couldn’t work with them, so they recommended Magora.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent around $80,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in April 2015 and we finished in January 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don't have any statistics. The programmer worked hard and provided a lot of design help. People are happy with the design they came up with. They also created a great interface. It looks good, it works well, and our clients are happy with it.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

They were responsive to our correspondence. Nothing was perfect, but they were definitely present. If we reported a problem, they reacted. I don't have anything bad to say about how that was handled.

Our programmer doesn't fully agree with me on all of these points, however, I think in general, our work with Magora went well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The design process went quite well. It was not something we had intended. Originally, we needed programming resources. The implementation phase after that did not go as well, but again, that wasn’t Magora's problem, maybe a little bit on our side. I don't think we can blame Magora.

Do you have any advice for potential clients of Magora?

If you outsource programming work, make sure that you have a common understanding of what they're supposed to do. Magora is reasonable and sensible and can do many good projects.

**The Review** — Jul 5, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Client needed clean code with no bugs, and Magora did a good job of providing QA. Magora is good at assessing user needs and offers better and simpler solutions and ideas based on requests. Magora provided a more reliable solution than most alternatives in the VoIP space.
"“We’ve had very good customer feedback for the platform, which is the best compliment we can get.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We have developed a web-conferencing platform which allows remote communication of different users. I am the CTO of the company. I am in charge of sourcing the people who can develop different pieces of the platform, and fitting everything together.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?
We needed to develop the mobile app which accompanied the web part we built in-house.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Magora developed our app for iOS and Android. Our platform deals with VoIP connections. A high-quality sound from one app to another and to the web interface is important. Ease of use and reliability were extremely important. We needed clean code with no bugs, and Magora did a good job of providing QA.
We’ve developed different audiences for audiences and speakers and also have a database for collecting user stats in terms of usage and overall quality which we access through a web interface.
Magora has the ability to offer better and simpler solutions and ideas based on our requests. We have worked with developers who tended to overcomplicate things, but Magora is good at assessing user needs and they ask a lot of questions. They haven’t blown up the project cost.
How did you come to work with Magora?
We looked at different developers on Elance and found good references for Magora. I contacted the company and they came across as professional. Their costs were acceptable, so we gave them a chance. After the first project was completed to our satisfaction, we gave them a bigger project.
How much have you invested with Magora?
The total cost has been around $100,000 to $150,000 until now. The spending has varied depending on the issues we encounter on the mobile apps. We don’t use Magora on a full-time basis.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project is ongoing. We’re continuing to work on the apps’ maintenance and updates, depending on the newer iOS and Android operating systems coming out. It’s a part of the process.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We’ve had very good customer feedback for the platform, which is the best compliment we can get. I find that we provide a more reliable solution than most alternatives in the VoIP space, so I’m happy with Magora’s work.
How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate on a daily basis and use Trello for project management, which is a tool with several cards, each one corresponding to one task. We exchange several emails daily and also comment on the Trello cards. They’ve kept schedules quite well, and I’m overall satisfied.
I’m quite used to managing remote teams, and it’s surprising how well this can work. I don’t even meet the in-house developers every week. Compared to the cost of a team in Switzerland, for example, it makes sense to use offshore developers.
There has been interaction between Magora’s team and our own developers, but I’ve acted as a link for the most part. We also try to keep our platforms separate and have them communicate through APIs. There is not a lot of need for interaction between teams.
What did you find most impressive about Magora?
It’s quite easy to communicate with the developers. With larger teams, there is usually a project manager who will handle everything, but I’ve talked to the developers personally as well. Most of them speak English well, so the communication has been easy for everyone on our side. We haven’t had the need to rely on a single person from Magora.
Are there any areas Magora could improve?
The cost is always something we want to reduce. Magora isn’t a cheap company relative to Eastern European developers, but there’s always a compromise between price and quality. We are happy with them, so we’ll continue to use Magora.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Magora?
On the client side, there is a need to keep some control over what is being done and to set priorities. There’s a lot of work to be done in terms of updates and bug fixes, so it becomes easy to get lost. We use Trello specifically because we need to set priorities. This is true for any external developer, especially for bigger projects.

**The Review** — Jun 13, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Magora is highly responsive and professional; they know the importance of timeliness. Their app has gathered many reports, speeding up and easing the quality reporting process, and improving product quality overall. There were no major issues or delays.
""Their employees are very professional, and we had no issues.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am an information-systems team leader for a large Russian dairy corporation with an international presence. I am responsible for the mobile applications for our sales team, among other systems.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

Our company is responsible for any damaged products on store shelves and the overall presentation of the packaging. The packages, represented on the store shelf, should be without any damage; the product should be fresh. Product placement should be done according to the corporate standards.

We decided to organize the app to meet product freshness goals. The app would work as a hotline for all the merchandisers, sales representatives and managers to let them report any disorder quickly and easily. So, this application was done as a solution for all our needs. It was utilized for employee-feedback collection around issues with our products and store supplies. This information would be collected from personal devices and sent to the quality department, with the aim of creating action plans for fixing defects.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Magora handled the design and development of our Android and iOS app. We discussed some best practices on the mobile app area, based on which Magora created several design options. We chose one which fit our brand based on an internal business discussion. The app itself is basic, with no QR codes or other scanners. It allows users to take photos, write descriptions of the issue, and send them online. I acted as the manager of this project.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We created a tender for the selection of a supplier. Magora was chosen because of their speed, professionalism, work quality and ability to answer questions in a timely manner.

How much have you invested with Magora?

Our project was one of the first in its category. It wasn’t expensive, but the cost could have been reduced if we had expertise on our side. All the work was done by Magora, and we had no options for cost-reduction.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Magora in October 2016. We finished in February 2017.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We are satisfied, and have continued the work with Magora for a second part of the project. The app has collected many reports with photos and descriptions. This information has helped us improve product quality.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

I worked with a project manager from Magora’s side, and also had discussions with the development team. Their employees are very professional, and we had no issues.

What did you find most impressive about Magora?

I found Magora to be a professional team with a reasonable cost. I hope to work with them on other projects in the future.

Are there any areas Magora could improve?

I only worked with a small sample of Magora’s development team, so I can’t say if there is something for them to improve overall.

**The Review** — May 14, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The finished solution met functionality requirements, thanks to Magora’s technical skills and problem-solving abilities. The team’s responsiveness and eagerness to fix issues contributed to the engagement’s efficiency, but their coding outputs required additional monitoring.
""Overall, working with the Magora team was a very comfortable experience.""

**BACKGROUND**
I'm the R&D Project Manager for a data recovery firm. We provide data recovery, hard drive repair, RAID repair, computer forensics, and other professional media services through a network of more than 40 offices across the United States.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
As an additional service for the customers, we decided to implement a data backup solution. This required some custom software development for a vendor partner since we couldn't handle the extra volume.

**SOLUTION**
The solution is a desktop backup software that allows users to store data on a common public cloud (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3, Box.com, and OneDrive), on an FTP [file transfer protocol] server, or on a local network destination.

We found Magora Systems through an online search and decided to hire them. They provided design, development, and other advice.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Overall, working with the Magora team was a very comfortable experience. The company is skilled in development, responsive, and quick to fix any problems that arise. They should really focus on code quality, though, because that is one area for improvement. We found some bugs in the final deliverables.

I suggest that potential clients should give them clear instructions and manage the team closely to avoid problems. They are a very strong team but will make mistakes if you don't give them the proper project details.

**The Review** — Apr 24, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Magora delivers on time and on budget, and they are strong communicators. Transparency and structure are core values. Their technical expertise shines, particularly in their development resources, and preliminary quality tests have good results.

""They are a serious and dedicated development team."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a technology startup and we have developed a product which makes it possible to utilize a unique array of location-based advertising channels. I am the managing director and one of the founders of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?
We originally developed the core of our system but needed assistance with further development and implementations.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
My team has been in charge of concept development for the platform’s features. We are using Magora for the actual development on a continuous basis. For mobile development, we are using Objective-C and Java. The web portion uses JavaScript and Node.JS. Our platform has some geolocation-based tools integrated.
They have offered to take on the design work, but we are using our own designers for now. Magora is performing business analysis, in order to ensure that we are taking the best approach to development.
How did you come to work with Magora?
We have a lot of experience working with freelancers. For the past five years, we have been using platforms like Elance, which later became Upwork. That is also how we found Magora, after making a job posting. A number of companies applied, and we looked at Magora’s track record. We had a Skype meeting, and it soon became clear that they were a good fit for our job.
How much have you invested with Magora?
The cost of working with Magora will most likely be between $50,000 and $100,000 overall.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Magora in February 2017. We are working intensively with a dedicated team of four to six people, depending on the workload. We plan to have a long-term collaboration with Magora.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
Magora is using Bitbucket to upload our code base. We have insight into it and perform quality checks. We plan to start regression testing shortly and will launch the app to 300,000 users. The real tests will happen in a matter of weeks.
How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s nice to work with Magora. They have great communication skills, getting in touch with us three times per week. The quality of work is good, and they deliver on time, which is an exception among the freelancers we’ve been using. It’s pleasant to work with a team like Magora’s.
What did you find most impressive about Magora?
So far, we’ve been very satisfied, especially since we had been working with Indian freelancers and companies in the past, for the most part. Our experience with those was that they always failed to deliver on time, and had bad organizational structures. Besides technical qualities, Magora has a very structured approach.
Are there any areas Magora could improve?
As of now, I don’t think so. We need to take the platform live in order to really see if all the technology is working perfectly, but the process of working with Magora has been very nice.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Magora?
They are a serious and dedicated development team, so I would recommend Magora to companies with a bigger budget, and which also require more quality and follow-ups. Someone with a small budget should probably go with smaller, more independent freelancers.

**The Review** — Mar 28, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Magora Systems built multiple highly functional mobile apps that have been received positively by users. There were some project delays and cost overruns, but it ultimately led to a successful end product.
""What we have found most impressive about Magora is that they can handle dense work and have an account manager available 24/7."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Golod is one of the most ambitious projects in Moscow. The mobile app allows the fastest food delivery in the world. We successfully tested the business model, delivered 10,000 lunches, and are growing quickly!

I the CEO of Golod.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora Systems?

We approached Magora Systems to create mobile apps for iOS and Android. In Moscow, as well as many large cities, food delivery has a one to two-hour wait. We offered a concept to save waiting time: lunch delivery "up to the sidewalk" with a choice of two dishes.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Magora Systems was in charge of finalizing the terms of reference, designing a mobile application structure, designing the architecture of the whole system, creating the code, and handling testing.
How did you come to work with Magora Systems?
In order to select Magora Systems, we first compared prices for the services we would receive, their experience in mobile apps engineering, and experience with mapping services.
How much have you invested with Magora Systems?
We have invested between $50,000 and $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The work began September 1st, 2015 and ended June 1st, 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

They created three ready-to-use apps, including iOS and Android-based clients’ applications and one separate Android app for the couriers. Additionally, they’ve provided a detailed server solution and admin panel with a web interface. We successfully tested the business model and delivered more than 10,000 lunches.

What did you find most impressive about Magora Systems?

What we have found most impressive about Magora is that they can handle dense work and have an account manager available 24/7. Also, their ability to perform the full range of tasks within a company is great.

Are there any areas Magora Systems could improve?

Two project managers were replaced during the project implementation.

#### Portal Development for Kitchen Faucet Manufacturer

**The Review** — Mar 21, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: Magora was efficient and dependable, making helpful suggestions and executing to specifications. After some initial negotiation around payments, the collaboration went smoothly and the results were positive.

""The platform is functional, fluid, and user-friendly. It was also delivered in a timely manner."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.
We are a kitchen faucet manufacturer based in California. The company has been in business since 1999. "Made in America" is kind of our big thing.
What is your position?
I am the creative director of the company. I'm responsible for all our marketing material, the websites, the packaging, store displays, and so on.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Magora?
We needed a backend login for our rewards program. All our dealers in the US have sales people working the floors, selling our faucets. As an incentive, we give them commissions; in order to register those commissions, they need to login to our website and enter a claim.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.
Magora has developed a backend web portal with secure logins and a database for recording claims. We use that information for cutting checks to all the sales people when the program is over.
I gave Magora a rough outline of what I wanted, and they came back with a very detailed business proposal, including suggestions of what would work better. They handled all the coding and also designed the interface.
The second phase hasn't gone live yet, so Magora is also helping me upload the platform to the servers, making sure everything is running right. This was above my initial request.
How did you come to work with Magora?
I had worked with American developers on two occasions in the past, and I'd spent thousands of dollars only to be burned. Someone told me about a website called Upwork, describing it as being almost like a dating website where I could pick out companies. I looked at 10 candidates and found Magora to be the best fit. I gave them a very small trial project, and it went great. We went from there.
I was a little reluctant to go overseas, but I hadn't had much luck with the Americans. From my experience at least, American companies were expensive and unreliable.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
The cost of Magora's work will be between $13,000 and $15,000 overall. They were dead-on in terms of estimates.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Magora in mid-December 2016. Our deadline was the middle of February or end of March, which Magora hit with no problems. I gave them an additional project for making modifications to the original platform, which is what they're working on now. We plan to finish this third phase by next week.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
The platform has around 1,200 users across the US and Canada, and it works exclusively as an internal system. We don't have any relevant metrics yet, but I'm sure that it will work better than it did in 2016. An issue we've had with the initial version was that sales people weren't able to log their claims, so they gave up on the process. The new version will be much smoother, everyone will be happy, and we will hopefully boost sales.
These types of projects can look great on paper, but Magora's work was actually good as well. Everything worked and it was what I was looking for, or even better. The platform is functional, fluid, and user-friendly. It was also delivered in a timely manner. I will definitely use Magora again.
How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?
I appreciated Magora's dependability. We had weekly Skype calls, I was kept up-to-date about our status, and they met deadlines.
What distinguishes Magora from other providers?
Magora is a friendly team, and they all speak English well. They're very professional, too. The reliability was the most important thing for me.
Is there anything Magora could have improved or done differently?
This was a very complicated database, so I should have paid more attention to it in the beginning. There were a couple of things which were misunderstood, which I didn't relay very well. Magora did their best with what I offered, but I made some assumptions about what would be self-explanatory. Magora's team didn't want to deviate too much, though. They made some suggestions, but they didn't go out on their own. In the future, I plan to be more specific up front and make sure that the communication is dead-on from the start.
Do you have any recommendations for others considering working with Magora?
One issue I've had with Magora was financing. Upwork is great because it works almost like a version of PayPal, so I was comfortable in knowing that I wouldn't be giving Magora some money only to have them disappear. However, they did want a big sum up front, 80% of the total over two months. I was a little uncomfortable with that, so I talked them into doing it in thirds as we reached milestones. I was happy with our first delivery halfway through, so I released a new payment, and I've sent Magora the money for our last phase only yesterday. It was a big trust issue for someone I'd never worked with before, so I would suggest working out milestone payments with providers.

**The Review** — Mar 14, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The team’s 3–4 developers are successfully translating a large-scale concept into a practical tech solution for the auto industry. Magora’s proficiency, business savvy, and eagerness to deliver continue to support a strong collaboration.
""They’ve performed so well thus far.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a director of a live chat provider for the automotive industry.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Magora?

I wanted to produce a live chat solution which is on par with the best of the market. It’s a portal solution, so it's inherently complex in every way.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

I basically just had an idea when we started the project. They took it from an idea and turned it into a physical, working solution. The technology is cloud scalable, yet it’s on seven servers, so it’s quite a large project for a live chat system. The project involved an understanding of MongoDB, JavaScript, PHP, and various other programming skill sets. It took around nine months to get to this stage. It’s come together quite nicely and is working as expected.

How did you come to work with Magora?

We used an online marketplace to look through different companies. We looked at their feedback and made sure they had done good work in that marketplace. We also spoke to a sales rep to gauge their level of comfort with this kind of solution. We basically vetted them and identified that Magora was compatible with the project.

How much have you invested with Magora?

I imagine it will end up costing around $200,000 with an ongoing cost for features and support.

What is the status of this engagement?

It’s been around nine months, but the work will be ongoing in some shape or form. We’re still in development and the solution is functioning well, but there are still features that need to be added, tweaked, and changed. It’s going to be an ongoing project for the next 6–12 months, and then it will eventually turn more towards maintenance.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or impact of the engagement?

I thought that taking it from a concept would be a tricky thing to do because I personally know an awful lot about live chat systems, where the developer may have a broad knowledge of the technologies but not necessarily about what’s really needed from the live chat solution. However, Magora has been very good through the entire process and has understood the end user needs.

How did Magora perform from a project management standpoint?

Progress has been quite quick, especially with only three or four developers working. You can see what’s being done, and you feel like they’re working as fast as they can while still getting the job done properly. We use Redmine to track what’s going on behind the scenes and to help me make sense of who is working on what. Everything they’re doing is in line with the wireframe and the documentation I’ve created. Everything is tracked well through Redmine, even their hours and expected completion dates.

What did you find most impressive about Magora?

What I most like about Magora is their ability to take a concept, identify the technologies needed, and produce a working system to the exact specification.

Are there any areas Magora could improve?

At this point, because we’re halfway through, I can’t think of anything that they could really improve on because they’re tracking so well. They’ve performed very well thus far.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with Magora?

As always, with any type of development, you need to give the developers as much information about the build before going into it, including wireframes, documentation, or anything that can help the team produce without having to ask too many questions to understand the scope of the project. Our build started early and without much of the necessary information, but Magora made it work. Obviously, the more you support them, the quicker the project will be completed and the solution will be more accurate.

Currently, similar apps have very little information about gyms, sports clubs and coaches, so people have to use several different platforms to find information (such as their specialization, schedule, customer reviews, etc.) which is inconvenient and frustrating.
There were two major concerns covered by collaboration of Magora and Gain teams:
- for Gainers (trainees) to have a convenient tool to find suitable academies
- for Academies (sport facilities and coaches) to attract more customers and to be able to manage their reputation

An Israeli-based start-up team approached us with the idea to create a PhoneGap application for solving scientific equations. So we resorted to LATEX – a specific document markup language for displaying formulas.

It allows users to search and solve equations, formulas and expressions using mathematical symbols and scientific notations as well as text. Symbolab solves maths problems. It provides automated step by step solutions to algebraic and calculus topics covering from middle school maths through to college maths. Symbolab offers a wealth of maths calculators including: equations calculator, simultaneous equations calculator, inequalities calculator, integral calculator, derivative calculator, limits calculator, tangent line calculator, trigonometric equations calculator and more. This product can be widely used by students, engineers and scientists.
