Our performance has been strong since the beginning of the partnership with Lilo (saw huge efficiency increases as soon as we started working with them) and has only improved in recent months. The entire team is incredibly helpful and responsive. Bobby does a great job taking our goals and turning them into an actionable strategy. Paid Social Creative Services were also very helpful. We have a small creative team so Lilo was critical in us running creative testing the past few quarters. The team makes any edits we have super quickly and generally all the creative we have received has been good. Email has also been amazing so far! Most paid ad agencies only run paid ads; they don’t look at anything else. However, Lilo Social offered 360 services, so they had a level of accountability. Additionally, they were responsive and easy to work with.

We’ve probably spent around $500,000.

We started working with them in June 2022, and we’ll continue to partner with them for the foreseeable future.

In general, the results have been really strong. Our biggest success is a lower customer acquisition cost. Also, the ROI has been steady at 200%, which is really important. For Black Friday and November, the biggest month for us, they were even able to beat it.

They perform well; we do everything through Slack and Notion. Although there’s a nine-hour difference, everything is very streamlined. Moreover, they offer guidance to us. If we have questions about how to do something, they’re more than willing to answer, even if it’s outside their scope. They’re a true partner.

I work directly with one of the owners and a project manager, with other team members contributing design, copywriting, and strategy. I've never had to figure out who to talk to about a problem - they work as a team and clearly communicate with each other well.

To keep it simple: I need a 10%+ profit to make my company work and Lilo helped me take our monthly budgets and projections and turn them into goals for ROAS, newsletters, etc. so that we meet those goals consistently. When we don't meet goals, they are proactive and never make excuses - they just come up with new things to test and make them happen. Is less stress a measurable outcome? if so, that's the key one for me.

We got more than we bargained for with Lilo: they are on top of every aspect of our social media ads and newsletters, but they also are a real pleasure to work with. They've stabilized our media spend and they give clear feedback to me and take feedback from our staff without friction.

They are far more humble than any marketing team I've worked with, especially considering the level of skill they display. They ran an audit of our analytics, email and ad account and proposed a plan that prioritized focusing on paid Meta campaign, with the option to expand channels into affiliate and eventually email campaigns. We then brainstormed on different kind of creative to experiment with, the appropriate budgets, testing allocation, and parameters needed to arrive to our (aggressive) target CAC. Every week, they monitor the ad account and report back with insights. They've also taken the initiative to mock up emails and affiliate ideas as we began exploring the possibility to expand beyond paid media.

Within 4 months of launching, we had hit $1MM run rate. We've also managed to build an entire paid media program, which continues to exceed our very aggressive CPA goals. Their deliverables are always fantastic, and their work continues to exceed expectations.

Their team is very communicative. We meet on a weekly basis, but they also have a shared slack channel, which we use multiple times a day. I also speak to the founder on the phone almost daily, including weekends...They're usually very quick and flexible when developing deliverables, and are quick to address last minute requests. Sometimes, it feels like I'm their only client, and for better or worse, it's easy to forget that we're not!

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It's almost the standard to praise them for industry knowledge and professionalism. What sets Lilo apart is their willingness to roll up their sleeves and become partners. Having been on the agency side, I am constantly shocked by how good at they are making us feel like we are their only client, and how they seem to genuinely care about our business. We continue to find errors in their configuration now that we have moved on. But the opportunities and revenue lost over from their work is outstanding.How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?In our initial meetings we were told we'd be working with a North American rep. That did not happen. The rep we worked with was nice, but she was clearly overwhelmed with all the clients they must be trying to juggle.What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?Some of the designs of the campaigns were good. However, it looks like they improved their designs since we started working with them. They added very little brand customization.Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?I asked repeatedly for their overall strategy for our brand and was met with silence. Also asked for their copywriting guide to see why they often missed our brand's voice. Looking back on it I imagine they didn't have a process in place. We work directly on a weekly basis with 3 contacts at Lilo Social including their CEO, Chief Creative and a Project Manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Lilo has worked on our business for about a year, which has been a long road to success for us. Our product requires education for purchase with little to no awareness to benefits, selling at a higher price point. That being said, Lilo has stayed on task for the long haul, optimizing hundreds of pieces of creative with messaging to reach our consumer. This continued trial and effort has recently unlocked our best month of DTC sales yet. 

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have a very effective workflow in place with our weekly status meetings, Slack channel communication, monthly all-agency calls and monthly reporting documents. Their team always keeps an open line of communication with ours and is very responsive whenever needed. 

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Lilo Social is particularly interested in our overarching brand success which is a standout quality in an agency partner. They act as extension of our internal team, always open to collaborating and sharing best practices across agencies.

 

They consistently go above and beyond scope. For example, capturing content themselves for paid social, designing pages, and sharing influencer best practices to drive revenue goals. As a team, it could benefit us to spend more time on quarterly planning calls to discuss upcoming social platform technical/reporting changes, emerging platforms or seasonal trends. This is quite difficult as these channels tend to be more reactive but a way to try and get ahead of the curve.

How did Lilo Social perform from a project management standpoint?

We have weekly meetings with the founders and the team that works on our account. They’ve integrated with our Slack channel and are super responsive, as well as well organized. 

The assigned project manager keeps everything on track and is good at communicating what they’re working on and testing. I really appreciate this. I worked with about four agencies before, and from a communication standpoint, Lilo Social is the most upfront and proactive team I’ve experienced.

Lilo Social communicates clearly and delivers results. Additionally, growth roadmaps and layouts are outlined clearly and priorities are set firmly. 

Lilo focuses only on the metrics that matter, whereas a lot of agencies focus on ROI or click-through rates.

No, I’m very happy.

This second development was much larger than the first, and it was also on WordPress.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After three or four projects together, we transferred all of our business to Lilo Social. We’ve only increased our work with them over the past two years.

For each campaign, we track analytics and reporting. What I can say is that we’ve seen an uptick in all of our activity across the business lines that they’ve helped support. One of our more recent campaigns was a small business initiative, and I think we increased our sales by over 50% over the last year. It was a digitally-focused campaign, so I would say a lot of that success involved Lilo Social.

From a project management standpoint, they’re very organized. They’ve been great with follow-up and follow-through. Recently, there have been a few hiccups with one of our projects because there are a lot of moving parts and they’re a small team.

There have been a few instances where schedules have had to be pushed back due to us needing more resources. Overall, we’ve been extremely happy working with them for the past few years. They’ve become an extension of our team, which is what we need as a smaller organization. I feel like we are their only client because of the undivided attention they give us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bobby is one of the smartest people I’ve worked with from a strategic standpoint. He’s very knowledgeable and extremely impressive. Not only has he presented to our board of directors, but he’s very well-versed in his thought process. The best part of working with them is that they’re constantly monitoring our performance and looking for ways to optimize, which is important in a fast-paced digital world.

Lilo Social has a strong digital strategy team, but there are areas that we don’t find them to be as strong is – like content development. I found that they’re much stronger in the strategy space. They could hire stronger creative team members, but there have been times where we’ve had to go back to the drawing board in that area.

We tracked our engagement metrics and data capture. We saw that users were really engaged with the experiences they created in comparison to traditional marketing campaign methods like videos. One of our recent campaigns with them is up for an award for Ad of the Year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?We went from about 20 to 25% of our revenue being generated by email to over 50%, our business has also grown significantly over this time. Tequila Sunrise made a big impact and more than paid for itself in terms of sales and profit.How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?We had bi-weekly meetings and their team was always available by email. Responses and actions always exceeded our expectations.What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?Their level of focus and the fact that they could do everything in Klaivyo and they would work with us in a very flexible manner and also teach us at the same time.Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?They were really great.
