League Design is helping us with the branding and design of our business. They’re also performing redesign services for our Instagram and YouTube profiles. They did a complete analysis of our market and competitors, and they also created a name and logo. Currently, they just finished with a set of brand guidelines for designers, so we can work with other designers.

We work with a designer, a strategist, a presenter, and a person in charge of finances.

How did you come to work with League Design Agency?

We found them on Upwork. We had interviews with other agencies, but League Design was cool and had a complete vision. Additionally, they explained how they were going to work and gave us a professional feeling.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around €6,500 (approximately $7,900 USD) with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working in December 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. They’re currently working with us on another project, and we plan to keep this engagement going.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re not in the metrics stage of the project yet, but I can say that the work they provide is well done; we can see that League Design spends a lot of time and effort analyzing the project to offer their own vision. The results are very satisfying and I’d give a score of 10/10 with this engagement — they do a pleasant job.

How did League Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through a group chat on WhatsApp. We talk about small organization details and provide important information. Once every few weeks, we have a Google Meets conference where they give detailed explanations of what they did, along with a presentation.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are very clear and detailed whenever they explain something to us. Whenever we talk to someone from League Design’s team, it feels like they know what to do and how to do it. They’re very accurate and understanding of the process; they know how to take it and develop it. This is an unusual approach for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We don’t think there’s something that they can improve.

Any advice for potential customers?

We definitely recommend working with them to get the most out of them.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to build out a new website to reflect changing messaging priorities of the company, including separate sections for patients, oncologists, and health insurance companies.

Our client had been working with the League on Product Design for the web application and recommended them.

The League had several designers and a project manager. Our agency handled the copywriting and provided creative feedback.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The client was very pleased by the work. Unfortunately, due to business changes, the new website was not launched as planned.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The League was good about project management and providing updates on hours spent at the end of each week. They were also open to creative feedback, but offered a clear point of view when advocating their designs.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The League had the ability to work very flexibly in terms of starting up work quickly. They are also very proficient in product design and motion design for websites.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The discovery process and competitive analysis could be more closely linked to the design directions being recommended. The insights into what was good and bad from competing sites was pretty basic, ie, content should fit on screen, all photos should be in a similar style, buttons should be obvious, etc.

What challenge were you trying to address with League \ Design Agency?

I needed multiple high-quality design services for my brand.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did extensive research and discovery for the project. However, they focused primarily on the brand message, brand design, logo design, competitor analysis, benchmarking, and packaging design.

The project started out with an onboarding and scoping call with a wonderful liaison Julia (Project Manager), as well as the designer. They wanted to get an understanding of my brand’s products, brands that I liked, competitor brands, and analog brands. After this, they took the information that I gave them and they did a bunch of research into my brand and products, as well as the competitors and analogs.

They came back with a very detailed presentation of what was happening in the marketplace, such as what other styles and fonts were being used. We talked about which ones I liked and what I felt about the designs. Then they presented me with different iterations of those designs.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have evidence since I haven't implemented metrics to the designs they made. However, it was really top quality — as good as it can get. 

How did League \ Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Most of our communication was through Zoom, email, and Telegram. Also, toward the end of the project, I visited their office.

The biggest positive in working with League \ Design Agency is their amazing communication and transparency. They told me everything that was going to happen with an estimate of how long it was going to take. We had a weekly update of what was completed and how they were hitting the different milestones, and they were hitting them right on the spot. 

If they said something would be done by a certain date, it was done. Overall they had excellent communication all the time. They were always communicating and were very responsive, even in different channels.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their level of communication, their work quality, and their transparency were all impressive. I've used a number of agencies, and League \ Design Agency put so much more into it. They're not just making something beautiful, since there was a rationale and a logic behind what they did — they gave meaning to their designs.

They love their work, and I think everything comes back to their hiring process. When they’re hiring people, they're very selective. Hundreds of people apply to work for them, and they go through a 28-day process to select somebody. Also, one of the questions used during their selection is: what is your dream project to work on? They try to match the client project with the desired projects of the designer. That's really helpful because they understand your vibe and the style that you want.

Another thing I found impressive was the cost. It was 30% less of what it would’ve cost for a big-name agency, and the quality was 100% better.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing. I have zero complaints about their work, and normally I'm not scared to be critical. However, in this situation, they were perfect. 

Any advice for potential customers?

Be very clear about what your hopes and dreams are, and don't be scared to communicate something that you don't like. At the end of the day, design is a subjective matter. It needs to be something that's going to please you, so communicate well what you want.  Don't be scared to be critical of the design, so you're pleased with the end result.

League worked with 2 Product Managers and 5 engineers at Ora Oncology to design an end-to-end experience for oncology patients from onboarding & registration to symptom tracking, medication management, video visits, and messaging. Furthermore, they also designed the provider-facing platform that was the counterpart to the patient app.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

League was a critical part of our team and was instrumental in launching our MVP. They designed all of the features and screens.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

League was extremely communicative about everything and were accountable for all of their responsibilities.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

1. How quickly they were able to grasp general concepts and ideas and turn them into wireframes/designs 2. They are responsible, collaborative, and great to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Only suggestion is that they should feel free to push back on us more if they don't agree with what we're doing/designing.

What challenge were you trying to address with League \ Design Agency?

We were trying to solve marketing for our product to understand who our audience is, what kind of architecture we need to implement, and to identify the overall characteristics of our potential customers as well as our marketing concepts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The main goal of the project was to get a good cohesive design that would embody the product, so the first thing we did was the discovery phase. We went through a bunch of exercises to describe what we liked to League \ Design Agency. Based on our choices and decisions, they developed a design that would fit our personalities as business owners of T.able. 

League \ Design Agency used a lot of internal employees and designers to come up with fonts for our product. Moreover, they developed our audience persona for our ideal customer. For the logo design, they came up with colors and themes. The team also created potential marketing pictures that we could utilize for engagement on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms. 

We’re on the second phase of our project, and they are working towards building out the design or layout of our landing page. It will be utilized for crowdsourcing.

We’ve only collaborated with two people, including a project manager and designer. However, they have internal staff that does the legwork.

We found them on Upwork. Then, the reason why we decided to go with them was because of the work they did previously with their former clients. We also liked their clean design approach.

League \ Design Agency has created a well-designed logo and great color scheme based on our inputs.  Overall, they’ve pretty much knocked it out of the park. 

How did League \ Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is very organized. They’ve also taken our feedback and have always done what we ask of them. Furthermore, they keep us informed throughout the process. We utilize Gmail and for presentations, we use Google Hangouts. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team has been impressive, and their communication is on point. Above all, League \ Design Agency is professional.

No, there’s nothing to improve.

If you’re looking for a company that can build out your brand and logo, and be able to do it in a timely and professional manner, choose League \ Design Agency.

My goal for the design was to bring my vision to life. I had a very specific design in mind which was not simple to achieve so I had to carefully pick the company who would be able to understand my expectations.

I interviewed many companies for this project but the enthusiasm and interest shown by League/Design stood out from all. They were very sensitive to my requirements and that was important to me.

We started off with a detailed meeting with the project manager that was assigned to my project. We established different timelines for the project which were met on time.

I was assigned a project manager, Julia who was my go to person. She managed all communication for me.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They were on top of every step and stage in the process. I never Had to worry about progress because they were one step ahead of requirements.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was flawless and very personable. I didn't have to chase them for answers. Emails and messages were addressed promptly.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I loved the personal touch with this company. It didn’t feel like my project was lost in a pool of other projects and not getting the attention needed. Another thing I really liked was that my feedback was taken and worked upon right away.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing I can think of.

I’m the owner of My Daily Bits LLC. My company makes one consumer health app for Android and iOS.

What challenge were you trying to address with League \ Design Agency?

Rather than a calorie counter, I decided that I wanted my app to support a balanced diet. In February, I researched how to transition the platform. To do this, I discovered it would require significant improvements to its foundation. I also needed to improve the app’s UI to support the transition.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

League Design redesigned the app to be a diet platform. Originally, I planned to only redesign a part of the platform’s UI. However, we ended up redesigning the whole concept of the app.

Their team redesigned its visual language and screens. They used Miro and Adobe After Effects. 

What is the team composition?

During the selection process, I worked with an account manager. I also worked with a project manager, a designer, a motion designer, and their art director. I worked with another account manager during the project’s later phases.

How did you come to work with League \ Design Agency?

I sought an organization that was methodical and mature in its design processes. It was also important that the organization held high communication standards. I placed a contract on Upwork and received about 50 applications. I interviewed about 10 and based on our discussions, I chose League Design. I selected them based on their established processes and communication.

I spent about $18,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between May–October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

From the beginning, it was very clear that they would be able to deliver results that I wouldn’t be able to deliver. I was happily surprised by the results several times throughout the project. I was comfortable with the surprises. The scope of the project significantly increased because I was happy with their work.

When I wasn’t happy with their work, I discussed my needs and requirements with them. They neatly turned around and responded well to the feedback. Their team moved past that point and delivered at a higher level than before.

How did League \ Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management skills were good. They guided me through the process. League Design kept tabs on the project’s progress well. There was consistent progress, and the velocity was excellent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m happy with the results. In the job description, I asked to level up my app’s design two notches; they clearly delivered on that goal. League Design made significant improvements to my product. I’m happy with how it looks.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communication wasn’t consistent throughout the project. We met every week and after the fact, their work would be clear. However, I wouldn’t always know ahead of time what was going to come. I gave them this feedback too. If they made that part of the process more transparent, I could’ve been more proactive. This is a minor criticism, but it’s an area they could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would recommend them to people with serious design projects. Trust them to deliver quality results. Talk with them and let them know if there are areas for improvement. They’re open to feedback.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to be set apart from the competition with a brand that could become easily recognizable and an app that looked as advanced as its functionality was.

How did you select League \ Design Agency?

We selected League from a pool of many other design agencies because their profile stood out so profoundly over the rest. Once we took a look at their portfolio and their process explanations on their site we stopped interviewing other candidates.

Describe the project in detail.

The brand identity project involved creating a brand for a company that didn't have one. League was able to take my partner and I's words and translate them into a design that we are all proud of.

We sat in a bunch of meetings, pointed to a bunch of reference pictures, and league was able to turn that into a brand identity that (in our humble opinion) far exceeds the level of detail and aesthetics of other brands in our industry.

What was the team composition?

League is very good at organizing points of contact, we only ever spoke with 3 separate people. League has many many specialized designers in the back office whom we only became aware of after the entire office decided to follow our instagram account at the same time. There's a lot of people on their team!

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We've received recognition for our branding and app design from every person that encounters us. Our equipment vendors supplying fitness equipment to our facility have even asked us for shirts. It just looks that good!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We found it extremely easy to work with League throughout our entire relationship with them. Updates were sent out weekly so we knew exactly what was going on at all times.

They told us when they needed something from our side, sometimes we had to have meetings, everything else was completely in their court - I don't think there was any way for them to be more accommodating or efficient in their communication.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The fluidness of their communication internally was pretty impressive early on. Anything you say to one project manager is automatically applied to any other relevant tasks even if it involves a different team, and even if you didn't realize what you were saying was relevant to that team!

This made communications way more efficient and also made us feel like everything we were requesting was listened to.

Are there any areas for improvement?

It's probably useless to provide positive feedback to this question but I can't think of any areas they could've improved on. They're really good at what they do.

What challenge were you trying to address with League Design Agency?

We needed an image that reflected our quality, complete, and thorough brand image and that would be respected by large film production companies.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

League Design Agency investigated, created, and defined a thorough brand image, including logo, colors, documents, and carriers. They also applied the same brand imaging to the website design and provided quite a few documents, including videos and gifs that would be used on our website.

What is the team composition?

We’ve spoken with a total of five teammates, and there may be four more behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with League Design Agency?

We found them on Upwork. We surveyed 20 companies, and our valuation criteria were heavily based on online reviews. We contacted League Design Agency for an initial project, but their timeline didn’t work with ours.

We told them we were still interested, and we kept coming back to them because their work was high-quality and detailed, and they were professional. They later told us that they would be able to start earlier than expected.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $18,000. By the time we finish the third phase, we should be around $28,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in June 2020, and our engagement is ongoing. We have a couple more deliverables, and we’ll complete phase two in September 2020. Phase three will begin in about October 2020.

They do very high-quality work.

How did League Design Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with their project management. As someone who's overseen a number of project managers and managed a number of projects myself, I was very pleased with the interaction and their command of the timelines.  

I was also very pleased with their meeting the timelines. They didn't over-promise or under-promise; they came very close to their timelines every time, maybe plus or minus a day.

We communicate via Google Meet and email, and we’ve also had weekly status reviews in which we assessed what work they had done. This helped with our engagement and helped to ensure that our project was executed on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their work has been so good. I was quite impressed and they matched some of the best I've seen. One of the things I truly appreciated was the constant communication.

I felt like I was their only customer, even though I know I’m not. Additionally, I was impressed with their command of the English language as a foreign company. We haven’t had any communication issues.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I had to go back and forth with them a few times on how a PowerPoint template should look. They found out later that what I was looking for was slightly different to what they were used to.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would encourage customers to work with them. We’re going to continue giving them more work.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Sales and Marketing Director at an aparthotel in Bangkok. We offer long-term and short-term rentals for both expats and locals. It is a family business and I oversee our marketing and digital products.

Our aparthotel is newly built, so we will need to depend on OTAS. Even though it is the quickest way to find our customers online, the commission is unacceptably high. We decided to create our own website to receive direct bookings and avoid the commissions. We don't a web designer on the team so we needed to outsource.

We want to gain online presence and receive direct bookings. The goal is to create a design with seamless UX and UI to maximize the website's conversion rate. The design will be handed over to another developer.

What was the team composition?

When agreed to start the project, we were assigned a project manager to support us and serve as the main point of contact throughout the project. I only spoke with our project manager and I'm aware there was an art director overseeing the project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The prototype was clear and professionally made. The whole project was on-time and all stakeholders are impressed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager send me a detailed project plan within the first week of the project, including tasks, descriptions and timeline. All tasks are done on time and momentum of the workflow is smooth. Project plan is updated weekly. I have calls and screen shares 1 to 2 times a week. The project manager would update me on the work that has been done and the amount of working hours. The feedback also given through the calls and also via emails.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The quality of the work and flow was most impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I'm happy with everything, but a discount for future projects would be nice.
