Build a React Native CLI mobile application for Android and iOS from scratch. Create login and registration screens. Integrate a GraphQL backend. Integrate a third-party authentication provider to handle login and registration. Leverage TypeScript throughout project in order to prevent bugs ahead of time. Build a social network from scratch that works alongside in-house content to provide a valuable experience to the user.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Kubikware sent us a project manager and a React Native developer. The project manager did a decent job distributing the work to several developers and addressing questions that developers had on business requirements. However, they did not do a good job keeping developers accountable, especially the React Native developer that Kubikware sent. Most of the items were not delivered on time, and the project manager was very lax about it.

The React Native developer that Kubikware sent was very slow when delivering basic features and even responding to our questions and calls. I remember messaging that developer in the middle of the day multiple times (they are in a nearby timezone as me) and never received a reply - I had to send a meeting invite to them several times just to communicate with them.

The code quality was poor and not performant. They never provided feedback to other developers via peer reviews. Also, in meetings, when I was talking to them directly about a feature, they seemed uninterested and not aware of what I was saying. Because of their poor performance, I ended up working late at nights just to catch up on the work that was not delivered.

After complaining to Kubikware about this, they sent a replacement React Native developer and removed the project manager. I interviewed the replacement developer with tough questions, and that developer passed! They were AMAZING! One of the best frontend developers I ever worked with!

They were very proficient in React Native, followed best practices, produced performant code, provided feedback in peer reviews, and delivered features on time! This developer was incredible and I trusted them completely with the project. I never had to worry about getting items done on time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The first two people that were sent to us performed poorly. However, the third person that was sent did a fantastic job! He was a rock star! I would love to work with that person again in the future. It really made up for the poor performance of the previous two people.

I appreciate Kubikware for responding to my concerns and sending replacements free of change. They were very flexible and understanding, and I will definitely work with them again. Next time though, I will make sure that I interview them with tough questions haha.

Are there any areas for improvement or something {provider_name} could have done differently?

Please make sure to interview your own developers with tough questions. Make sure your interviews are up to date and are challenging. I suggest focusing on problem solving skills rather than the actual UI that the developer produces. The problem solving is more important to me - especially when it produces code that performs well.
