What challenge were you trying to address with Kubikware?

We engaged Kubikware to assist us with technology projects for third-party clients. These projects range across web and mobile, and we needed a nearshore partner who had the flexibility to scale resources as needed.

Kubikware provides support on multiple client projects. Once we work with our client to determine their strategic needs, Kubikware assists with our programming needs. On occasion, they’ll also help with product strategy depending on the project. The team primarily works on backend development, including AWS, servers, databases, and e-commerce platforms like Magento and Shopify. Kubikware develops mobile applications on React Native.

We primarily work directly with their engineers. If we need their help with project management, we’ll interface with their project manager.

Their founder reached out to me on LinkedIn, and we started to build a relationship. Eventually, I decided to give them a try on a project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their work has expanded our ability to do more web projects for our clients and thus boosted our business. Their flexibility and expertise in various core areas are especially valuable to us.

How did Kubikware perform from a project management standpoint?

We perform project management internally for most projects. Kubikware then handles the technical details at the engineering level. Occasionally, they’ll advise on product strategy and then manage their internal development team. We track progress in Harvest for invoicing and timekeeping, and we keep in contact via dedicated Slack channels.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Kubikware engages at the executive-level to stay on top of projects and to solve problems whenever necessary.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As a native mobile engineer, I can be picky about mobile app development. Kubikware’s native mobile work could use some improvement, but we primarily rely on them for web development and cross-platform projects.

Have a robust in-house leadership team to guide Kubikware and to handle any client-facing situations.

We were able to create the first shared decision-making app for breast cancer patients, and we can now give patients an empowering option to choose.

We work with Kubikware’s leadership team in biweekly meetings, where we discuss each employee and their progression through the projects. We’ve also tracked tickets and speed of delivery, and every time we deliver more to our users by adding Kubikware engineers.

They always find us quality engineers/designers very quickly and always try to ensure we’re happy with the quality and speed of the employees they provide us.

Kubikware has been very proactive and comprehensive in delivering on time. Our primary form of communication is virtual meetings.

They have been very responsive to our needs and vice-versa. We both understand our expectations better. The quality of the code delivered has increased greatly over time.

It would be great if developers can deliver more frequent and small code updates rather than less frequent and large code updates.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
They are a very responsive partner, and they really care about what we need. They take feedback very well and act on it quickly. It is a relationship that has a huge potential to be long-term.
