KingTide was tasked with re-designing the entire patient care platform, specifically looking for a fresh, modern design that was able to handle very dense healthcare data. The users of the platform (clinic users) need to triage an immense amount of remotely transmitted patient data each day to ensure critical cardiac conditions are recognized quickly and acted upon.

KingTide focused on efficient workflows and data presentation which garnered very positive feedback in user testing, specifically in the simplification of the data and reduction of number of workflow steps. Vector has also received feedback that our platform's design is the most attractive visually, compared to the competition.

Yes, always delivered on time. The deadline for the working prototype for HRS 2022 was pretty intense and stressful. TheKingTide team went above and beyond to meet this commitment with us. KingTide felt like a true partner and extension of our own team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something King Tide could have done differently?

Hard to think of any improvements, KingTide always exceeded expectations. We had some growing pains in Figma as we were building prototypes very very quickly and needed to re-organize the files to scale better as our feature set grew larger than the programs original scope. Perhaps we'd start with this setup if we did the project again.

I have worked with them for over 12 years and four different companies to elevate the ecomm and digital presence of the brands I am building.

We have worked together previously so onboarding was streamlined but bringing in a third party for the backend fulfillment of our product was challenging. This was heightened due to alcoholic beverage regulations and our desire to bring the offering to as many states as possible. King Tide did the work and research to execute above expectation in a compressed timeframe.

We worked with one primary project manager but there were 8-10 devs putting time and energy into our project over the lifecycle of the build.

After launch, we have seen people spend 80% more time on our site than before. Since we did not offer our drink before all sales are new and our conversion rate is great at around 46%!

They are very systems-based and work to underpromise and over-deliver. Communication is strong and client service is number 1.

Their desire to get things right the first time. They did all the research and work needed before implementing so all potential downside is identified before building something with flaws.

CBDoggy produces high quality, full spectrum CBD oil intended for dogs. Many dogs experience anxiety or arthritis, and CBD is a new and exciting treatment that has recently become legal and available for consumer use thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill. Our CBD is derived from organic hemp grown in the USA, and our goal is to provide dog owners around the country with an alternative solution to prescription medication for their dogs.

King Tide helped us to create the CBDoggy site and marketplace. They developed all of the branding, copywriting, site design, package design and more. They set up our WooCommerce platform to sync with our distribution software and streamlined the entire process from start to finish.

Our goals were to hire King Tide to not only help us polish our company branding but give us a professional and reliable website to project a trustworthy business to our customer base.

They were recommended to us by several sources, and despite having proposals from other agencies we decided to move forward with King Tide due to their amazing track record. Plus, they put together a plan for us that really encapsulated our vision.

They developed the entire back end and front end of our website from start to finish. We worked with them on a weekly basis to review their branding, copywriting and design details, then further along in the process began to test their wireframe and UI. There was a very strong structure in place with multiple milestones so we never felt like there was a lack of communication.

There were several members from their team that worked with us including a lead designer, PM, UI/UX engineer, copywriter/branding manager and even the CEO oversaw the project and kept in close contact with us, making us feel even more comfortable that the job was in good hands.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

CBDoggy is nearing its product-ready date, and the site is looking amazing. We've already had some great pre-launch press and we are excited to continue to work with the King Tide team to help maintain the back end throughout the course of the next year.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The team regularly hit all their deadlines, and like I mentioned before, made the milestones very clear cut so there was no second-guessing about what phase we were in and if they were wasting our time or money. Our initial interaction was with the CEO, who introduced us to the PM and the rest of the team who were our main points of contact, but the CEO was always cc'd in all correspondence and helped guide the process when necessary.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Most meetings and business correspondence is dry and straightforward, just-get-the-job-done mentality with very little emotion. King Tide immediately made us feel like we were talking with friends who were interested in our company and making it a success. My partners and I always look forward to our weekly call updates with King Tide because there's a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork with people who share the same vision as we do.

I wouldn't say much about what could be improved... maybe just an espresso machine in their office :)

The company is made up of a group of film executives with experience in raising money, producing, directing, and more, all within the TV and film industry. They came up with the idea for a contesting platform where people could use an app or a website to audition for roles in TV and film.

Small cashier or receptionist roles with only a couple of lines could be actually cast through this platform. Also, users can see what roles are available, submit their auditions, and whoever gets the most likes on their video will be flown out to the set to have a live audition in front of the casting directors.

Since I have a technical background, I’m working directly with King Tide to oversee the technical development of the product.

What challenge were you trying to address with King Tide?

We had the basics of the strategy down but weren’t exactly sure what the best way to build the product would be. We wanted to make it as user-friendly as possible, given that our customer demographic is made up of anyone from eight years old to 80 years old, so we wanted to be open to everybody. The one challenge was making it as simplified and user-friendly as possible.

What was the scope of their involvement?

King Tide is responsible for designing and developing the product, which will be available as a mobile and web app. They also provided a full brand package. We have a completed prototype of the web app, and we’re well on our way to completing the Android and iOS app as well.

All the design work is done; we reviewed the prototype in InVision and signed off on everything. They’re currently in the coding process.

What is the team composition?

Through the discovery process, we had meetings with their CEO, CTO, the specific project manager assigned to us, and with our lead designer. Now, we have direct communication with the project manager, but whenever we have milestones that need to be reviewed and signed off on, the whole team is present.

How did you come to work with King Tide?

We’re based in Los Angeles, California, and knew we wanted someone local so that we could visit and work on the discovery process in person. We got bids from around six companies and only looked at the local ones, which narrowed things down. King Tide was in the top three in terms of budget. We had an initial meeting with each group and decided that King Tide would provide the best working relationship out of those.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with King Tide around six months ago.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re measuring their work based on the budget and timeline estimates they gave us, as well as on how consistent their deliverables are within those metrics. They’ve been reliable so far.

We also love King Tide’s brand package. We usually only get three rounds of reviews, but we nailed down what we wanted after the second one. They really listened to us, understood our vision, and were able to produce something we were happy with. That was definitely a success.

Furthermore, the prototype is exactly in-line with what we communicated to them during the wireframing process. When they actually put the design on the wireframes, the prototype turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.

How did King Tide perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great. They’re super informative, keeping us updated on everything and hitting deadlines either before or right on time.

We have standing meetings every Thursday at 11:30 a.m., which are either in person or through a call depending on the agenda. We also get weekly project updates with assigned tasks and a list of what they’re working on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by their overall morale. When we have meetings together, it’s almost like a family atmosphere, whereas some of the other companies we interviewed were much larger and had a corporate feel. King Tide really listened to our ideas and visions and was able to turn those into something we love.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have no criticisms, really. It’s been a great experience.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Just come to the table with all your ideas, visions, and goals, and work with King Tide on creating something that really fits your end-product goals.

Sometimes, we think we have a solid idea. However, when working with a group like King Tide, we can see that they’ve been through the process many times, so they have calculated responses and are able to help us mold our rough ideas into something that can be put out there on the market.

We use King Tide for many different projects including a hangover prevention brand and our music brands. I’m the president and owner.

What challenge were you trying to address with King Tide?

The most expensive and all-encompassing experience we had with them was in the hangover prevention project. They helped them with product line design for the bottles, packaging, skins of our social domains, marketing materials like sell sheets and brand decks, product and merchandising displays, and our website.

We don’t have positions in-house for this kind of work. We have a management infrastructure, a national sales staff, and an administration office. We source creative designers and people who can provide expertise and execution in that area from third parties.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We sourced their marketing team to help with our social media management. We used them for content creation and customer service relating to our e-commerce efforts. We also used them for help on our online marketing strategies of media buys and programs to market online. They help with digital service, design, content, and anything online.

What is the team dynamic?

There were a few designers we worked with: an overall account manager and an account manager relating to online marketing. We dealt most often with the account manager in terms of directing the traffic of projects, status, and making adaptations. We worked with the designers as needed. The size of the team would alter based on the project.

How did you come to work with King Tide?

I met Jordan [CEO and Founder, King Tide] years ago while he was working at another company. When he left the company to start King Tide, we kept in contact. When I started my next brand, I decided to use his agency. The main reasons I chose King Tide were because of my personal relationship with Jordan and also because of his lead designer, Mason; I enjoy working with him, and I like his work.

We started working on this particular project in mid-2013, and we launched the product in December 2013. We decided it was more cost-effective for us to use an in-house designer because we’re not creating much new material. We concluded our work with them in early 2017.

They did a phenomenal job with the product design and packaging; we still use it today. We haven’t made any substantial changes to the design. They did a good job representing the brand, and it has been well received.

They did very well. We communicated through phone, email, shared Google Docs, and project management tools. They delivered on time and within our budget.

Our communication was consistent and often. We had a lot of different projects in the workflow. We had a scheduled weekly call with the social media management team.

For some tasks, we gave them the objective at hand and let them run with it. For other tasks, we had specific ideas that we wanted help with. It was a collaborative process. We initiated direction on the projects including the objectives and the timelines. We worked with them to develop, edit, and refine the tasks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best service they provided us with was the initial product packaging designs. They were also pleasurable to deal with. They were always positive, accommodating, and available. They’re detailed, attentive, and provided quality work.

No.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They should have an understanding of what they need, what their objectives are, and what their budget parameters are, and be able to offer clear direction to the agency. They need to give input and make themselves available to the team. If there’s anything that is collaborative, be responsible and execute high-quality work. To maximize potential, it takes both sides doing their part.
