What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Innowise Group created everything within a reasonable timeframe. Their team was also able to solve any issues that arose. 

How did Innowise Group perform from a project management standpoint?

We established a very tight deadline, but Innowise Group could still deliver around it. In terms of budget, the project cost went a little over, but we knew this was a possibility. Regarding communication, we used Slack and emails; communication was great because they were easy to reach and responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Innowise Group’s communication and account management was excellent. Alexandra and Anastasia were wonderful at managing our expectations and our needs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Innowise Group allocated junior developers that weren’t as experienced as we would’ve liked, which led to delays and challenges throughout the process. Nonetheless, they listened to our concerns and brought senior resources to take over the project. Still, they should analyze the work better before dedicating certain resources to their tasks.

We were delighted with their quality of work, so I encourage people to consider Innowise Group as a vendor and work with them closely.

I'm the head of virtual distribution for an insurance company. We study progressive technology, and I oversee our group’s omnichannel strategy.

What challenge were you trying to address with Innowise Group?

Our initial challenge was a scarcity of software developers, which seems to be a common challenge around the world. We were having trouble finding and retaining employees.

We had multiple developers that had worked on the chatbot software we were building, but they left us with an issue around the code that had been developed — it was what we call spaghetti code. We needed to restart the project and accelerate the build to make up for the stoppages we’d had. We were looking for developers to continue building the architecture of the chatbot, review all the code, and move us forward from a development perspective.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Innowise Group conducted an architectural review, made recommendations, and provided a framework we could leverage to improve the technical stack of our chatbot, which sells insurance via WhatsApp. We had carved out an MVP for this specific chatbot that we wanted. A potential customer could find the link via Google or our Facebook or Instagram page. The link would open WhatsApp to a chatbot — which is supposed to be quite smart — asking them a flow of questions. 

We've presented them with all our documentation — first explaining our strategy so they could understand our reasoning behind the project and then sharing architectural diagrams. We've also given them access to review our code, and they've developed wireframes. They've executed all the UI and customer experience (CX) development using our specific corporate identity and brand. 

They’ve delivered the first iteration of our chatbot for sales and are helping us develop improvements to the chatbot. They’re also helping us build out iterations of what we call the “whatbot”, which identifies where customers are getting stuck and need human help. The “whatbot” augments the digital and human touch from a customer perspective.

They also support our pay and protect team, which is responsible for building insurance solutions. They have a few massive delivery items coming up, and some are quite complex from the insurance payment perspective.

What is the team composition?

Our initial contact was with Matvey (Partnership Manager), our main point of contact. I’ve also worked with a senior solutions architect, and there are currently four developers, including Vitaly (Head of .NET), our technical contact, that work with us. 

How did you come to work with Innowise Group?

Many salespeople often try to set up demos with me to sell various types of software. After looking at about eight different suppliers, we initiated a conversation with Innowise Group. We wanted to partner with subject matter experts in chatbots and various code languages; we also wanted a team with a track record. We chose Innowise Group because their responses to our technology questions hit the nail on the head.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around €30,000 (approximately $32,000 USD) so far — €20,000 (approximately $21,000 USD) for the retainer, and we also get billed based on the hours that they work.

What is the status of this engagement?

It started in September 2022, and it’s ongoing. We've extended our initial contract until the end of the year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’ve delivered well; the chatbots are working better than they had been. Anecdotally, I would say they’ve done a good job. We don’t have any specific metrics. One measurement that stands front and center for me is attitude. They always have a can-do attitude and present possible solutions. They also have the integrity to tell it like it is so we can understand exactly what the issues are; they’ve been very straightforward and honest with us.

How did Innowise Group perform from a project management standpoint?

Their timing and delivery are on par. The project timing can always be better, but it’s also dependent on numerous integration points, so I’m not placing any blame.

We document tasks to be delivered within a two-week sprint. They use our system to log tasks through Trello. We host daily stand-ups, where they update us on progress, and other meetings in a virtual space we’ve created using Kumospace. They're always on time for meetings, and if someone's ill, they always let us know.

We struggle with a bit of a language barrier, but this is always a concern for us since our business is limited to English. We appreciate working with diverse teams. We use Microsoft Teams, which has a really cool function that generates captions; I can make out almost exactly what Innowise Group's team is saying by just reading along. 

We’ve enjoyed working with them. Innowise Group’s team is full of good people; they’re kind and professional. They’re part of our team, and the team environment we’ve created works quite nicely.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their maturity and understanding of the business and their own trade is something that I really appreciate. It tells me that Innowise Group offers training to their developers. I’ve been remarkably surprised and encouraged by just how kind they are, and they get the job done. They’ve found a way to integrate into our team. They’re also quite funny, which I enjoy.

We’ve invited Matvey and Vitaly to join us in Cape Town for about a week so that we can see them face-to-face, which says quite a lot. We wouldn’t have extended an invite if there wasn’t a connection beyond the code development; their partnership is a business relationship we want to nurture. That is a good gesture from our side that tells you we believe the relationship is going well.

I don’t have insight into their internal code review process, but that’s alright since the project is on track.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It’s important to create the right structure so Innowise Group can operate well consistently. We have a can-do attitude and keep extensive project documentation. Both I and my technical lead are available to their team if they need support. 

Leadership should also encourage the inclusion of Innowise Group. Give them a voice and appreciate their art, and you’ll build a solid relationship
