What challenge were you trying to address?

I hired InceptMVP to build and deploy a production-ready FlutterFlow app with a secure, scalable Firebase backend, proper authentication, subscription logic, and App Store–compliant billing. I specifically chose them because they were listed as a FlutterFlow Expert Partner, and I expected professional-grade architecture suitable for a public launch.

Instead, they fundamentally failed to deliver a functional, secure, or scalable application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement and team dynamic?

InceptMVP was responsible for the entire application build, including Firebase/Firestore setup, authentication, subscription logic, UI implementation from Figma, and App Store submission. Despite repeatedly telling me the app was “ready,” they submitted and released a prototype, not a finished product. Core functionality was broken, security was mishandled, and the backend architecture was fundamentally incorrect. After launch, they attempted to build and stabilize the app while it was already live, resulting in daily failures and emergency fixes for five weeks.

What's the status of this engagement?

The engagement was terminated after two independent developer audits confirmed that InceptMVP had set up Firebase completely incorrectly. The app was not built to scale, did not follow Firebase or FlutterFlow best practices, and would have degraded or crashed under real user load. There were three separate user collections instead of one, duplicated data, and inefficient queries, which directly caused poor performance and instability.

Because the backend architecture was fundamentally flawed, I had no choice but to hire a new FlutterFlow-approved agency. They confirmed the issues immediately and advised that the entire database structure needed to be rebuilt from scratch, requiring several additional weeks of work and further delaying launch. This was especially damaging given that my original contract with InceptMVP was 48 working days (10 weeks), and the project had already stretched to over 24 weeks.

As the new agency uncovered more issues including security, scalability, and billing logic failures, the risks became impossible to ignore. Because InceptMVP was listed as a FlutterFlow Expert Partner, I formally reported the situation so that no other founder would experience the same outcome. After reviewing the evidence and the findings from my new agency, FlutterFlow engineers identified catastrophic failures and serious negligence and removed InceptMVP from the FlutterFlow Expert Partner program.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did your relationship with your partner evolve?
The relationship deteriorated after the app was submitted to the App Store and it became clear that what had been delivered was a prototype rather than a production-ready application. Despite repeated assurances that the app was “ready,” core functionality was broken and had to be fixed daily for over five weeks while the app was live. Independent audits later confirmed that these were not minor bugs but severe architectural and security failures, making continuation of the relationship impossible.

 In what ways can they improve?

InceptMVP needs to fundamentally improve their understanding of Firebase architecture, scalability, security, and subscription compliance. Two independent developer audits confirmed the app was not set up using best practices, would not scale, and could crash under real usage, including the presence of multiple user collections instead of a single normalized structure. Additionally, their handling of subscriptions bypassed proper Apple and Google billing lifecycles, and security decisions introduced serious user safety and liability risks, failures that should never occur from an agency presenting itself as an expert.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
Do not use this agency for any application that needs to scale, handle sensitive user data, or comply with App Store billing requirements. Require independent audits of Firebase architecture and subscription logic before launch, and do not rely on claims that an app is “ready” without third-party validation. In my case, the failures were so severe that I had to hire a new agency to rebuild the backend and report the situation to FlutterFlow, who reviewed the evidence and removed InceptMVP from their Expert Partner program.

Successful development and launch of a fully functional cross-platform mobile app (iOS and Android), delivered in scope with live features such as onboarding, matching, paid subscription flow, and background check integration.

Completion of the custom-built 25-question Vibe Check Quiz that powers user compatibility, match logic, and emotional onboarding — the quiz is now live, conversion-tested, and integrated seamlessly into the app funnel.

Integration of subscription paywall (monthly + annual) and real-time pay-gating of in-app messaging and match visibility — this allows the product to generate revenue from Day One.

The team used a clean, milestone-based project management approach. We communicated regularly via WhatsApp, with weekly updates and quick responses to questions, feedback, or urgent fixes. They were flexible and consistently made space for feature adjustments, pivots, and strategic additions as the project evolved from MVP into a more emotionally intelligent solo travel app.

Deadlines were largely met, especially for the core functionality needed to launch (the quiz, profile flow, matching, and subscriptions). For more complex elements like background check integrations and future-facing features, the team was transparent about scope and realistic timelines, which helped me manage expectations and phase releases strategically.

They were responsive to my emotional investment in the product and always gave me room to shape the vision and flow — even when that meant mid-build changes. Overall, I felt supported and heard throughout the process, and their communication style made me feel like I had true partners, not just contractors. Even when the scope expanded slightly, they were upfront about timelines and still moved quickly to keep the project on track.

They didn’t just write code — they worked fast, communicated clearly, and always stayed solution-oriented. They understood mobile development at a high level and kept the build clean and efficient from start to finish.. They brought a lot of experience and technical knowledge that made the process smoother and more efficient.

It was clear they had experience delivering real, usable apps — and I appreciated how little hand-holding was required once we aligned on goals. Reliable, efficient, and technically strong.

No — I was happy with the collaboration overall. The team was reliable, experienced, and delivered what I asked for. Communication was solid, and I didn’t run into any major issues during the build. In fact, we're already working on phase two of app updates.

Things were delivered on time or even before. There was some deviation from the planned timeline as they were done with features early which is always a good thing. The very end of the project had some delay as we had some unexpected bugs to resolve and we were slow with testing on our part.

The Project Coordinator was extremely kind in his demeanor and also patient with our requests. We also liked the way they understood a lot of our requests through documents without having the need to clarify much.

Time Management for virtual meetings. Everyone's time is important, but our meetings almost always started late by more than 20-30 minutes sometimes. That said, they did accommodate going over time to compensate for tardiness, so that is much appreciated!

We have not launched yet, however as general feedback, they were able to deliver each deliverable and adhered to our requirements.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What was impressive was how they brought our app idea to life! They were able to maintain the design of the app as well as enhance various functionalities. They quickly understood requested enhancements and executed them extremely well.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only area of improvement is with communication. It lagged a bit towards the end of the project, but it wasn’t bad. However, I think we could have been better with communication as well. But they implemented the project perfectly and I wouldn’t have chosen any other team.

We searched online for bubble developers who could work within our limited budget. Incept team was the best choice considering the budget for the project and their previous experience with similar bubble apps.

We did give them the wireframe and designs and they worked with it. There were a lot of delays from our end too but the incept team were patient with us and did a good job.

Aesthetics - wise, things could have been better and hopefully we’re able to solve that in the future.

We conducted a series of interviews with various developers, that could work on our project. InceptMVP, had the best attitude and solutions to our needs. They came with a clear set of ideas and answers to all of our questions. Also, providing their services with an upbeat fee.

I provided them with proper documentation (PRD) and all the criteria we had to cover. Also, wireframing was crafted for them to implement all the required details. We launched the app recently and are still waiting for our metrics to be gathered. But since launch, we have noticed a great feedback, through the app's downloads, mainly on the iOS platform.

This was our first app development. We are lucky, we managed to find InceptMVP due to their highly professional demeanor and patient. Our project extended further than we thought initially but that didn't represent a concern for InceptMVP. They diligently solved everything.

Implementation of some design screens seemed a bit harder to tackle. We found an agreement point but definitely, it would be great in the future to achieve them easier.
