Within 3 months we had the first version of the application as agreed with the basic functionalities. Then we went to the second phase and integrated in the app the call functionality via our call provider, this time was a more challenging process since the provider had some issues on his side however the flutter team managed to point out the issues and then participated in meetings with the provider to establish the right solutions.

The company owner provided the initial estimations and workflow, it was very pleasant and efficient. When development started the project manager took over as the main point of contact. We had functionality updates that we could test about once a week, feedbacks via email and ticketing system, meetings when needed, and possibility to discuss live on chat. Response time was fast most of the time. On the areas of the development where they were 100% in control they delivered in time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

A great value/cost ratio. Flexibility in resource allocation and project management style. They assumed any mistakes they did and didn't charge for that. The owner was very friendly and open-minded.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Testing quality for edge cases could have been better. On the other hand not easy testing various versions of both Android and iOS.

We needed an app designed in Flutter. We had a design in mind, but when we were thinking about building the app, we had a very rudimentary understanding of what we could get for our budget. We wanted to build the app for iOS and Android. Our partner also had to be well versed in a number of analytical tools.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app is a social media network platform for artists to get critiques of their work and discuss and connect with one another. The main feature is a real-time chat room. It’s different than most because there are no delays or notifications. This is a challenge, so people have to know who’s in the chat room and how to find it.  There’s also a feature that analyzes the sentiment in the chat.

I do a lot of web development and design, but they partnered with me on the UX. Usually, vendors want to handle everything themselves, but Impero was very open with me almost being a part of their team immediately after I hired them.

What is the team composition?

We’ve had a project manager on the project for six months. I also work directly with the owner of the company. He’s a great point of contact, and we’ve become good friends through the process. There’s also a senior engineer who is an incredible coder and programmer.

I did a Google search, and there were a lot of companies that were well versed in Flutter and Angular, but Impero’s owner reached out to me directly to tell me about his company. After a few small meetings, we engaged with them.

We’ve been working together since July 2021. The development is currently in the second phase; we’re receiving feedback.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It’s hard to quantify because the results are not directly related to them. There have been zero crashes in the app though; it’s flawless and perfectly built. We haven’t had any complaints from any of our customers about technical issues.

How did Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

This was a mixed bag for me. It’s hard for companies to do this well, as they have multiple clients but sometimes I had to reach out to them to see what was going on. Sometimes they were just working on their own, and I understand that it’s complicated but we’ve worked out a relationship where we have weekly meetings to update everyone that last about 15 minutes. We talk about the progress that has been made and what our next steps are. Some parts of their project management are great, and I don’t want them to hold my hand through the whole project, but more checking in would help.

We used air table for test management and Slack and Google Meet for communication. Even though we were in different time zones, we communicated well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have great communication, which is key for any developer, but they also pay attention and understand us. A close second highlight is how clear they were going through the project and ensuring I was comfortable with every aspect of it.

It was also clear as to who was on the project; I met with the whole team of engineers in the beginning, and it all felt professional. They’re really passionate about getting a great product rather than making a profit.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve in their management of expectations. Communication was great, but delivery estimates were sometimes a bit too pre-emptive and premature. Rather than giving an update, they would just wait until the deadline and say it wasn’t done. I had to reach out to them. We were just getting our feet wet with the project at this point, however, and now we have very clear milestones.

There are a lot of translation issues sometimes, especially with very specific things, but they’re able to translate a lot of the more nuanced issues in communication with the developers.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re truly a trusted partner. I can’t imagine working with anyone else, and I interviewed a lot of other people.

My advice would be to talk with their development team and get a sense of the technology they’re going to use before jumping in. Maybe look at some of the other solutions that they’ve built. It was helpful for me to be able to test things out.

We hired Impero to develop a small app that takes words individuals react to when having a brain scan and converts them into cue cards to inspire users’ writing.  

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Impero developed our iOS app, Words of the Senses, from scratch. I provided them with thorough functionality specifications, designs, and data to develop the app. Once they developed the app, we held five test cycles to ensure that everyone involved was happy with the app. They also provided us with some QA services. 

The app’s core feature is the word generating system. It holds a list of about 1,200 words that have generated the most results in brain scans. When a user clicks on the app, it generates 10 words that move around the screen that the users can save.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a higher-level manager and a project manager. They also had a team of programmers working on our project, but I didn’t interact with them.

We found Impero on Clutch.co! We reached out to about 20 companies, and 10 got back to us with RFIs about technology capabilities and financials. We then chose three candidates and went into an RFP. We had a few initial meetings with Impero, and they provided us with a fixed price for our development. We finally signed with them because they had good reviews and were priced competitively.

We worked on this project Impero from April–October 2021, and we’re now starting another project with them.

The project was just released in October, so there aren’t any success or sales metrics yet. We’re also not doing a lot of marketing for the app yet since this project was more about finding a partner we can work with regularly. 

However, we have received some positive feedback from users who like how unique our project is.

Impero performed really well regarding project management — everything ran very smoothly. They stayed within budget and stuck closely to our fixed timeline and scope. They were very attentive, and if something wasn’t to my needs, they worked quickly to produce what I wanted. 

We generally communicated through email and had occasional online meetings. My company laid out rigid requirements and had a paper trail for change management at the beginning of the project.

Impero really feels more like an internal teammate than an outsourced partner — they’re able to deliver feedback on our wishes within 48 hours.

In the beginning, there were some issues determining each other’s roles and expectations, but we solved that small problem quickly.

We initially developed our system using a suite of contractors, and the system needed to be revamped with a new and improved UI using the latest technologies.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Impero  IT Services pretty much developed the whole system from start to finish, going through the development requirements based on our old system, designing the UI, and coding and developing the system. 

The solution is both a mobile and web application for iOS and Android. It allows school owners to administer curriculum based on regulations, predominantly in Ireland but we’re also looking at setting it up for different countries as well. The system allows children attending preschool to register for curriculums, record their sleep patterns, eating habits, and behaviors, as well as all kinds of checklists. For example, with COVID-19, schools had to put controls in place, and our system helped do that. 

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with about 4–5 people. Initially, we had a project manager, a UX/UI resource, and 2–3 full-stack developers.

Feedback from our customers is good. They like the new UI. Impero has worked with us since the beginning to go through the whole development, and now they’re working closely with us to develop additional features. 

With any app, we go through different cycles of finding bugs, and they were addressed immediately. Impero was very responsive. 

How did Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They were good. We had some challenges on both sides; it’s common for the schedule to shift with a new product going to market. This is to be expected. 

We have regular meetings, as well as tools that we use, including Airtable to record features that they develop for the product. Weekly check-ins keep us on track. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Impero is agile in the way they work. They’ll work ridiculous hours to get the problem done, as well as on weekends. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We need an additional resource to keep up with the features that we want to add. I’m speaking with Impero IT now to accomplish this. For any medium-sized, growing company — especially with COVID-19 — finding resources is difficult. This isn’t a negative — it’s just the way it is for now.

Know exactly what you want and be structured about your requirements. This will lead to success.

We were working for a client that had some difficulties with a developer and an existing Flutter-based app for iOS and Android. The app was a social media platform for a very niche industry, and it didn’t have some of the things that you would expect from a social media app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was quite a difficult project. Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd (Impero) had to take on somebody else’s bad work and reverse engineer what was already done.

There were some issues with the app, and it had lots of crashes. Basically, the application didn’t have the functionality that was promised by the previous developer, so we reached out to Impero to fix the issues and add some enhanced functionality.

What is the team composition?

I worked mainly with two members of their team, but there were many others involved. I had occasional insights with the developer, who asked me some direct questions. There was a project manager assigned to us, and the owner was in contact to discuss quotations, timescale, and monetary agreements.

How did you come to work with Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd?

We initially found them through a Google search. I reached out online to numerous companies, and I went through a few initial introductions, where people tried to sell me things that I didn’t actually want. On the other hand, the owner of Impero had a very laid back approach. He just wanted to understand the problem and how his company could help us.

Then, he put forward a reasonable proposal, which we reviewed. There was never that pressure to sign up for more than what we actually needed, unlike other companies. They understood exactly what we wanted, and that’s what they delivered.

What is the status of this engagement?

The initial contract started in late January, and the NDA was signed in February 2021. We recently finished, so the project was about three and a half months long.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Their work was really good; we never had issues. They gave us numerous instances to comment on the project and give feedback, so we were constantly involved and informed about what was going on. They kept time scales, and if we had any issues with how things were going or needed to change something, they were very responsive and just went with it.

Also, everything was good from a qualitative perspective. Actually, we’re now planning a next phase of updates, and we want to partner up with them for future projects.

How did Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They were really good. We used Jira for all the tracking, logging, and communication throughout the project. I basically acted as project manager and worked closely with Impero to keep time scales and so on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think their most impressive trait was their approach and how attentive they were. They did everything in their power to make sure we were getting what we wanted. After speaking with many different companies, sometimes you get the impression that they can talk, but they can’t necessarily do the work. They’re just promising you things, and then they don’t deliver.

With Impero, their starting approach wasn’t pressured; they weren’t trying to sell us anything. We had a face-to-face meeting very early on so I could oversee the company directly. Throughout the whole project, we had constant contact, feedback, and check-ups to make sure everything was progressing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so. From my perspective, they delivered on all parts — the time, scope, and price were exactly what we looked for.

We’ve been working with Impero IT on alpine digital signage projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were looking to establish an online platform for our clients to establish and market directly from digital signage across the European Alps. 

The idea is that there’s a frontend booking system, which users could easily manage and access to manage campaigns with flexibility. The online system would link to digital signage across the Alps.

Impero IT provides both front- and backend development. They’ve handled the whole process.

There have been three different people. My first contact was with the CEO. Then we were passed down into different channels, and we worked with two other team leaders. We always have a direct contact, which is nice.

We chose them because of their response time. We gave them the concept and they came back with a scope very quickly that was fully documented and well understood. Their communication was perfect, as well. 

We saw they had good reviews on Clutch, and we felt confident with their approach to the project.

We’ve been working together since July 2020. The project is wrapping up now.

We’re actually working with them on a second project as well, though it’s completely different from this one.

It’s a bit too early for metrics, but the feedback has been great. We’ve done some testing and had good client response. We have a few partners in ski resorts who we work very closely with, and they’ve given us positive feedback. 

How did Impero IT Services Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We use our project management tool on and off, but on the whole, communication has been excellent. Impero IT is very responsive and always available. We mostly ended up speaking over the phone, where it was far easier to discuss the project. 

We gave a lot of creative control to Impero IT — we’re very busy and didn’t have the time to flesh things out every step of the way. We gave the team the scope, budget, and some ideas, and they rolled with it. And so far, everything they’ve done has been good. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Impero IT is a well-structured, good organization with great communication. They’re efficient and affordable. I don’t have anything bad to say. All of our experiences together so far have been positive.

I don’t have any constructive criticism at the moment.
