Halo Lab has provided a project manager who is our primary contact, and we have been very pleased with their service. We have undergone a pivot and several iterations around how our product will work, and Halo has been able to adapt with us every step of the way. We haven't had any delays to our project where Halo Lab's project management or ability to deliver have been an issue.

Halo Lab provides high quality designs at great value. As an early-stage entrepreneurial venture it's important to put our best foot forward as we prepare to launch while also managing our budget effectively and Halo Lab has done a great job meeting our needs.

While no project runs perfectly from start to finish, Halo Lab has done a great job adapting with us as our needs and our vision for our product have evolved. On occasion, we have had a few designs for specific screens that didn't match our vision, but in every instance they have been able to work with us to incorporate feedback in a timely manner, so we are pleased with the relationship we have had with them.

Communication was excellent, fast response and easy way to give feedback. They did weekly meetings, but the ongoing communication was so good that sometimes we skipped the weekly meeting. Delivery was on time, and there was constant alignment of expectations.

They were very flexible and open to any feedback. Since they were very attentive, the outcome of the project was excellent and addressed my needs.

Melon Local is a digital marketing comapny for insurance agents, and my position is executive.

We realized Melon needed a new look to separate ourselves from the competition and vistually take us from startup to established company. We hired Halo Lab to refresh our brand to give it a unique style, updated colors and fonts, and build out examples of how the brand would be used in digital, social media, print, presentations and more.

We found Halo Lab in our search and felt their portfolio of work matched the style we were going for. After speaking with them and three other companies, it was clear there were the best fit at the best price.

The project was moved along as quickly as we could provide feedback, and we were excited to wrap all of it up in about 60 days. We're thrilled with the outcome and have started integrating the new branding in our marketing.

Project management style was simple. We communicated via email, Slack and notes in Figma. We have plenty of ways to get our thoughts back to Halo Lab's team.

Their process was down to a science, with no wasted time or lack of communication with what was next. The designers are clearly a talented bunch and were able to execute on the little direction we were able to provide.

In total we worked with 4 people - project manager Ux/ui designer , brand designer web developer - all very professional and on the same high level.

we managed to launch our operations on time and without compromising on any of our initial intent. we managed to display a perfect product to our clients. in addition to that we enjoyed having guidance on how to future maintain the assets.

I was amazed by Halo Lab's efficient and productive workflow. we were entering a system that runs on the highest efficiency you can find. all on the same page.

We had the high level concept for the platform, though needed someone to take this and translate it into the best technology in the most effective way possible. The team at Halo have been amazing to work with, helping to crystallise the vision and bring it to life.

We searched online thru UpWork, and then trialled them with a front end component. They were able to turn this around quickly (within a week) and at a very high quality which could then be integrated quickly.

Throughout the build process so far there have been many people working on the project, dependant on what the needs were at any time, from multiple front-end, back-end & full stack developers, to QA engineers and project management.

We are yet to launch, however feedback from early pre-release demo's has all been extremely positive.

The team at Halo are really flexible, and have worked around my availability to jump on calls, review sprints etc. We have worked thru a combination of Slack, Jira & Notion

The team at Halo has been amazing in bringing our vision to life. They are extremely committed to what they do, and in addition to building out the code for the platform have been very helpful in talking thru and testing concepts, flows etc.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think if anything they have maybe been too flexible with me at times around catch up, post sprint and review calls. No really a criticism of them so much as myself for being time poor.

Our team performed extensive research on Dribbble, Behance, and other platforms and after shortlisting and interviewing multiple designers we chose Halo Lab. There were multiple reasons for that: quality and style of their work, efforts required to cover our scope, structured and effective support through the project. They were enthusiastic, positive and showed themselves as a professional and very creative team.

Firstly the team created the branding guidelines. They worked on the logo, company color palette, typography, and overall “image” of the product. After that, they started working on the UX/UI part. They designed pages of the public website as well 2 portals, for Consumers and Providers, according to the earlier approved concept. They thought thoroughly in detail about the necessary features of the platform. We received all the necessary materials and support we needed to start a development phase.

Halo Lab is more than a contractor. They’re a trustworthy partner with impressive knowledge and skills. They have been able not to overstep the deadlines and provide us the necessary results the most effective way. Halo Lab did a great job in terms of suggesting interesting and useful flows in the UX and helped to identify a better user experience than was originally planned by us.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had weekly team meetings, which included their team and us, during which time they presented the latest updates. We had a chance to respond accordingly and ask questions. We have been working in a joined folder in Figma on a daily basis to see the track of the status and provide fast feedback. All planning around the scope was done via Google spreadsheets, keeping updates in Slack and Figma.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their commitment to delivering was the most impressive thing about the company. They truly love what they do and show it in their attitude to the project. While working on the logo and branding elements, they kept the feeling of the desired company's market image and goals. Several times in the project we were coming to the complex situation of spinning around design without progress, and the Halo Lab team kept pushing and suggesting various solutions until the best one was identified.

I don’t have any negative comments about them. They delivered good value that fit the price. The team responded to all inquiries as quickly as possible and made every effort to achieve the desired goals.

What challenge were you trying to address with Halo Lab?

I needed help with web design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Halo Lab first went through a discovery phase where they learned about my business, which required some assistance from our side. They then set up different milestones. Eventually, the team came back with a mood board showcasing various colors and design options. Once we chose the design that spoke to us, they went through the different design steps with us, and we defined all the pages that we needed. Finally, Halo Lab started working on our site. The team used Figma to create designs.

What is the team composition?

Daria (Project Manager) was our main point of contact. We also worked with Elena (Sales Manager), who handled the sales side.

How did you come to work with Halo Lab?

We evaluated several agencies in our attempt to look for a good match for our design needs. Specifically, we needed someone with extensive experience, who would deliver, and had good reviews. We found that they were a good match for our needs when we looked at Halo Lab’s Dribbble, Clutch, and Upwork profiles.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was $12,000–$13,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Halo Lab between March–May 2021. The project ran for about nine weeks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We received very positive feedback throughout the project, and we were thrilled with the work Halo Lab did. From our experience, the design was high in quality. We were pleased with the results.

How did Halo Lab perform from a project management standpoint?

Halo Lab was really helpful, and they always delivered on time. The team was direct and on-point with communication. Furthermore, they have a great style for giving feedback, and they listen to the customer. We communicated through Slack, which made it easy to exchange ideas and give feedback. In addition, we used Google Meet for meetings and Figma for the design.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They made a beautiful design that really catered to our needs. Furthermore, the Halo Lab team is full of top-notch designers who over-delivered. They gave us a few things that we didn’t even ask for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Design-wise, I don’t have any comments, but there could’ve been more communication after the discovery phase. While it worked out fine in the end, there were times when we didn’t know what exactly they were doing. Overall, it wasn’t a problem because they kept over-delivering. We had a lovely experience, and there’s nothing we would’ve done differently.
