I’m the founder of a specialty marketplace for olive oil.

What challenge were you trying to address with Halo Lab?

I needed help with web design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Halo Lab first went through a discovery phase where they learned about my business, which required some assistance from our side. They then set up different milestones. Eventually, the team came back with a mood board showcasing various colors and design options. Once we chose the design that spoke to us, they went through the different design steps with us, and we defined all the pages that we needed. Finally, Halo Lab started working on our site. The team used Figma to create designs.

What is the team composition?

Daria (Project Manager) was our main point of contact. We also worked with Elena (Sales Manager), who handled the sales side.

How did you come to work with Halo Lab?

We evaluated several agencies in our attempt to look for a good match for our design needs. Specifically, we needed someone with extensive experience, who would deliver, and had good reviews. We found that they were a good match for our needs when we looked at Halo Lab’s Dribbble, Clutch, and Upwork profiles.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was $12,000–$13,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Halo Lab between March–May 2021. The project ran for about nine weeks.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We received very positive feedback throughout the project, and we were thrilled with the work Halo Lab did. From our experience, the design was high in quality. We were pleased with the results.

How did Halo Lab perform from a project management standpoint?

Halo Lab was really helpful, and they always delivered on time. The team was direct and on-point with communication. Furthermore, they have a great style for giving feedback, and they listen to the customer. We communicated through Slack, which made it easy to exchange ideas and give feedback. In addition, we used Google Meet for meetings and Figma for the design.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They made a beautiful design that really catered to our needs. Furthermore, the Halo Lab team is full of top-notch designers who over-delivered. They gave us a few things that we didn’t even ask for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Design-wise, I don’t have any comments, but there could’ve been more communication after the discovery phase. While it worked out fine in the end, there were times when we didn’t know what exactly they were doing. Overall, it wasn’t a problem because they kept over-delivering. We had a lovely experience, and there’s nothing we would’ve done differently.

We wanted to redesign our current platform and also add new features.
