I hired Greybox Creative to assist with the redesign of my existing website. I simply outgrew the former version and needed to maintain a professional look and landing page for my business. I did not require a very robust website in terms of media content but I wanted it to reflect my brand and the military backgroud I bring to the table.

The outcome was a website that far exceeded the degree of professionalism exhibited by my former website. Evidence of this was the fact that immediately after it went live, many people in my professional circles reached out to me to congratulate me on the new website and commented on its visible improvement from the former version.

Greybox was consistently proactive and moved things towards completion as quickly as I wanted them to move. The project would have been completed much faster than it was but it was I who pumped the brakes on its final execution on account of needing to obtain compliance approval at various junctions by my overseeing firm (I am a FINRA registered advisor). Communications were consistently fluid and response times were almost instantaneous. Wish I could say the same for the compliance side of things lol. Despite the fact that I placed drag on the project on account of things that needed to be cleared on my side of things, Greybox never missed a beat and handled everything on my wishlist with patience and professionalism and delivered their very best work at lightning speed.

Greybox has a creative eye second to none. Their work on the recent Intrepid project illustrates the caliber of work they can handle. Vincent Fatato and his team were extremely accommodating and accessbile to me at all hours, any day and at any time via phone, Zoom. text or email. I highly recommend them and give them an enthusiastic five stars!!!

GreyBox never fails to deliver. Vincent, the agency's founder, and Remo, the firm's Creative Director, are incredibly talented branding and design professionals, and their work consistently speaks for itself. We've partnered on numerous visual design projects, most often involving logo, style guide, and other assets (presentation templates, social banners, etc.), and every engagement has been a huge success, our shared clients loving not just the work GreyBox delivers (which, honestly, is some of the best design work we've ever seen) but the way our firms interact. They're not just great designers, they're great people, easy to work with, endlessly accommodating, and focused on customer satisfaction—ours and our clients.
For this particular engagement, GreyBox nailed the design for a large, billion dollar, holding company in the protective gear space. Our agency, Catchword, developed the name for the holding company (Valeron) and GreyBox handled the design work. We were all working under an extremely tight timeline (approximately 3 weeks for each of the two brand development phases) and they just completely nailed it. Every concept was more impressive than the last, making it difficult for the client to choose just one to adopt.

A few years ago, I reached out to GreyBox to discuss possible collaborations as we recognized that having a trusted design partner would be an asset to us and our clients. Their creative design expertise and process has fit like a glove for us since there is a mutual respect for what we both do. To this day, we continue to wow each other and strive to do deliver the best solutions for our clients. We are always looking to improve our combined process and the way we work together.

Their scope was to design a visual identity system that included logo concepts to final execution and delivery of stationery system, brand guidelines and a presentation template for use by the client’s internal sales and marketing teams. The GreyBox team was in sync with our process offering their design perspective during the tail-end of the naming process while we kept in sync throughout the creative execution process.

Like Catchword, GreyBox is an extremely experienced team. There were three or four people involved from the GreyBox side. Vincent Fatato, Founder/President and Remo Strada Creative Director, served as our main points of contact throughout the process presenting all key deliverables and coordinating the work on their end.

After completing a number of projects with GreyBox, and being involved in the creative process, we have been extremely impressed with their their team and the work they do, and we can understand why they’re one of the most sought after agencies in the design space. To see the creative process in the works, including the literally dozens of logo ideas developed during the early stages of the conceptual process, has really impressed us. Ultimately, and in every client engagement, there were more than a handful of truly compelling design concepts, the hardest part perhaps being how to choose just a few to focus on and recommend! Without question, our combined skillsets have resulted in wonderful brand solutions (naming + design) and extremely happy clients.

Greybox became involved in the process toward the end of the naming process and once there were a handful of names being considered they offered their feelings on where it of the names could be taken from a visual standpoint. The GreyBox team lead a creative kickoff meeting to ensure we all had a clear understanding of the brand and there was alignment from both our teams before the logo concepts began. Greybox created an identity for the brand that included the development of a handful logo concepts, displayed in context which helped us choose a concept and after some quick revisions we finalized the logo and presentation deck in time for our meeting.

It was great how much the combined Catchword/Greybox team accomplished in the amount of time we had. We were able to use the new presentation materials that displayed the new name, logo giving our team the tools they needed.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with GreyBox Creative?
GreyBox Creative redeveloped our website. We were an antiquated family business, so we needed a refreshing. Our business was founded in 1978, so we were trying to get up with the new times by launching a new website with a cleaner look to achieve more brand awareness.
Our website doesn't really generate business for us, so creating a new website could seem counterintuitive. People don't go to our website after looking on Google for a mechanical contractor. We already have a good reputation, and our business is more based on relationships. Thus, we wanted this website so that new clients in town who already knew us could look for us online and not find an outdated website.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
GreyBox Creative created a new website for us. Their work included adding content to the site. Still, in addition to building the new website, they rebranded our logo. One of the biggest features GreyBox Creative implemented was adding a short video, which was very creative of them. Additionally, they added a page where people can apply to work at my company.
What is the team composition?
The two teammates I dealt the most with were Vincent (Founder & President) and Remo (Creative Director). Remo was in charge of all the creative work behind the project, including the logo rebranding, which took us several meetings over the year. Although both of them were present at all the meetings, Remo was more of the project manager.
In addition to them, there were others involved, so we dealt with a total of four people throughout the process. For example, there was someone in charge of writing the content for the site. However, I'm not sure if that person was part of their team or an external contractor.
How did you come to work with GreyBox Creative?
I found them through a referral.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost of the project was $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around November 2022, and the project was completed in April 2024. It was an over-a-year process, but it had nothing to do with GreyBox Creative. It was more on us, as we spent time providing them with information and images and having them waiting for our approval. We got very busy at times, and they were very patient with us.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
GreyBox Creative was able to redevelop our site, and we were more than pleased with the result; we were very happy with their work. Speaking about our logo, their team brought what was a 1970s–1980s logo and cleaned it up, making it look more streamlined.
GreyBox Creative did the same thing to our website. They truly brought us to the forefront of what we needed. Now, our website is very easy to navigate and has a lot of information on it. We've already received great compliments on the video of our site and how well our staff is portrayed in the field as they install equipment. Overall, they did a phenomenal job.
Still, it's too early to notice the benefits of this project. As mentioned, our main goal was to increase our brand awareness. However, we're still implementing the new logo. I have 50 trucks on the road, so we're in the process of changing hard hats and other equipment to reflect the new brand.
How did GreyBox Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
GreyBox Creative delivered on time and on budget, and they communicated well with us. I want to reiterate that the project delays were our fault for not responding quickly to them, so the project length had nothing to do with their work.
As for communication tools, we used a combination of phone calls, emails, and virtual calls. Email exchanges represented around 70% of our communication with them.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
I can't say enough good things about Vincent and Remo. They were a solid team and answered questions along the way. We're not a tech company, so technology goes over my head. Still, they educated me on what my company needed. They also interacted with our IT person to implement signature pages for emails. Thanks to them, the project was seamless — they did a fantastic job.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Vincent and his team were dynamite, from providing ideas to creating the best verbiage for the website. For example, they suggested hiring a professional photographer to do site and office photo sessions, after which they incorporated the new photos on the site.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There was nothing GreyBox Creative could have improved on; they were solid throughout.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Keep the communication lines open. We had a moving target throughout the process because, although a website development project seemed simple, I didn't realize how much work it would take on our end to make the project successful. There was a lot of communication needed throughout the process so that they could accomplish our goals.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with GreyBox Creative? We were rebranding the museum from our logo and mark to our creative campaigns. Our team needed to come up with a whole new look and feel that best represented the direction we were going. Given that, we hired GreyBox Creative to work in tandem with another vendor to help us realize a new visual identity for the museum.
Our goals included increasing brand awareness and engagement for the museum. It had been around 20 years since we underwent a rebrand, and the museum has grown a lot since then. Given that, our main objective was to gain a visual identity, messaging, and branding that best fit what the museum was in the present day. The branding should allow the museum to reach audiences.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement? GreyBox Creative worked on everything related to our visual identity, including fonts, font packages, color palettes, and more. They created a style guide that determined how we could use the assets and photography to leverage our new brand identity. Other deliverables included business cards, stationery, and other collateral for our various departments.
Once we had this visual identity, GreyBox Creative helped us deliver general mission and membership campaigns as well as other campaigns on the digital, print, and social sides. Meanwhile, the other vendor primarily handled the strategic side of the project, but GreyBox Creative was involved in every step of the process. They took the lead when we focused on the aforementioned campaigns, helping us incorporate creative messaging into the assets and campaigns. What is the team composition? We mainly worked with Vincent (Founder & President), and our lead on the creative was Remo (Creative Director). They were our main points of contact, although other team members were working behind the scenes. How did you come to work with GreyBox Creative? We sent an RFP for the project and identified the GreyBox Creative team through referrals from other cultural museums that worked with them in the city. We needed an agency that was in close proximity to the museum so we could meet frequently with them and give them a better understanding of who and what we were. How much have you invested with them? Our agreement was with GreyBox Creative and the other vendor. Collectively, our investment was around $200,000–$900,000. What is the status of this engagement? The engagement lasted from November 2022–December 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We launched the new brand in October 2023 alongside a website we built with another firm. Anecdotally, the brand was well-received by our partners and donors. Our internal staff and other people liked the final product, and we leveraged it for various uses right off the bat. How did GreyBox Creative perform from a project management standpoint? GreyBox Creative managed the project well. They were organized and good at taking our feedback and making corrections. They also gave their feedback in terms of what would work better and what was best for the brand they created. Everything was articulated well. We primarily used Zoom for our weekly meetings, although we had a couple of on-site meetings in the beginning. Some of our larger stakeholder meetings were facilitated on-site, too.
Remo was the lead visionary for the creative process, and he did a great job balancing everything he was digesting. As one of the larger museums in the city, we were a complicated institution and blended many business facets. We had various departments working with grant projects and programmatic arms.
In other words, we had a complicated brand, and Remo did great in understanding those components and coming up with creative approaches. Overall, the products they delivered were insightful and forward-thinking; they helped us position ourselves in the best way possible with the new brand for the museum’s growth. What did you find most impressive about them? They had highly creative teammates. I was impressed with their ability to think outside the box and provide us with options, which allowed us to see a wide variety of interpretative styles. Specifically, they did a great job at logo design and development; they also performed well in coming up with campaigns and developing copy and headlines. They took the brand they created and translated it into smart campaigns. Are there any areas they could improve? No, there weren’t any. If anything, they did a great job listening to us and working through the speed bumps we had every once in a while. That was great, considering that we had a lot of voices within our organization — they had to deal with a committee of 7–8 stakeholders from different disciplines within the museum. Do you have any advice for potential customers? Be open to GreyBox Creative and let them know if you have strong positions one way or the other. Articulate who and what your organization is. This is the most important part of the engagement — being clear about who you are will help them hone in on the best approach to your visual identity.
Moreover, be open to concepts that are vastly different from what you’re used to; this can be difficult from a client’s perspective, especially those who have been with a brand for so long. It can be hard to look at unique concepts with an open mind. My advice is to step away from your current brand and understand the purpose of the engagement. Be clear about your goals and audience, and the team will give you creative ideas.
