This is Ranjan and I am co-founder of TestUnity. TestUnity is A unique SaaS platform where testers are not bound to any geographical location, diversity at its best in terms of real devices and OS.

We selected this vendor because it was highly recommended by one of our friends and we decided to continue with GeekyAnts because they had great reviews regarding their quality work and fixed timelines.

We came to them with ready-made requirements, and we discussed them with GeekyAnts. After consulting with them, we made some modifications and went through the solutions suggested in the requirements in an agile and scrum-like development process.

Their team did the backend development on Node.js provided by Docker containers and frontend development using JavaScript and the React framework. They also used AWS.

We had up to three web developers from junior to senior levels. We also had a project manager on the GeekyAnts side.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The final product is in production, and we’re absolutely content with it. It’s also making a profit for us. Their team said it would take half a year, and it was more or less done in that time. I’ve never seen such a precise estimate; it was really on point. The budget projections were always very correct, and I was very impressed with how precise their estimates were.

We typically communicate through SkyPe, which both of our companies were familiar with. We also have Zoom meetings and use Jira for project management and tickets. Their team is very responsive. We always get an immediate response, and they have always been available to us.

We’re a QA company. They gave us access to their tech people right from the start. The communication from the beginning was between the tech people on our side and the tech people on their side. It was easy, and they were approachable. There was no shield between their technical staff and ours, which has been nice

Not really. The way we work together has been fine from both sides.

There were 3 members on our side and one BA - Rihdi from Geekyants to work on this project. Ridhi played a crucial role not only as a liaison between the client and the team but also as a technical advisor.

Her activeness and forthright working style have greatly aided the team in completing the project ahead of schedule.

For everyday communication, we used Slack. In terms of project management, our team worked with Business Analyst Ridhi to track the project's progress using the Jira board.

Despite numerous modification requests that occurred throughout the project's execution, Ridhi was always responsive and accommodating to help sort things out quickly.

What makes GeekyAnts different from others is that they were transparent and upfront about the roadblocks and we were able to collaborate to come up with a solution.

We especially appreciate their schedule flexibility, responsiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond.

Though we have done some projects so far, we are all pleased with each and every project together.

We had defined deliverables within different sprints, which were largely delivered on time and with good quality. They also were instrumental in giving us suggestions/feedbacks on our designs and methodology, to further optimize and make it customer centric.

They have been quite transparent in managing the project. Gitlab was used for checking and review of all the codes including troubleshooting. Further, all the communication was done through Teams.

They should be able to mange their teams leaves better and can be communicated in advance. But overall happy with them.

GeekyAnts have been delivering high-quality outputs, whether it is about mobile app technical design or development. They have shown a strong sense of ownership and are very active in providing suggestions and ideas to improve the app. We are looking to soon launch our mobile app in beta mode to our initial customer base thanks to their dedicated efforts in a short time of 3 months.

The tech leads and relationship manager are actively involved in day-to-day planning, resolving team issues, and ensuring the project is on track. They use the latest tools and is open to adopting new processes/technology to improve the development and delivery process.

We were using freelancers from Upwork and a company based out of Ukraine. However, it was still hard for us to scale and deliver. We chanced upon GeekyAnts and immediately were able to find synergies in technical capabilities, ability to scale and alignment in company culture. The team was also based in a time zone that was more favourable including the ability to communicate well in English.

The team worked on multiple projects. Typically, the team was added during the development phases of the respective projects to deliver the Digital Wealth platform for our clients. The GeekyAnts team was involved in the development, testing, launch and support phases of the projects.

We gave a brief about the project and the requirements of the engineers we needed. The shortlisted candidates were interviewed by our team of engineers to ensure suitability. After selecting the candidate, we placed them on 1 week trial period to better assess their capabilities. At the end of the 1 week trial, we confirmed the engineer to continue working on the project.

The support of the engineers helped us to launch 5 projects which helped to gain confidence from our clients.

I’m the engineering manager at Jupiter, a banking services company. We provide banking solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with GeekyAnts?

We were trying to hire our own developers but weren’t able to fill all the open positions. We needed to outsource developers to build a mobile app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

GeekyAnts developed our mobile app for iOS and Android. We initially decided on the architecture of the app. We had a few developers of our own, but they coded specific modules.

Their team was involved in the rewards section and the investment product part. They also helped with the help center and customer support features. Later on, we started developing it on our own.

The bulk of the work was completed in May 2021. However, there are small features that we’re still developing and maintenance work, like bug fixes. We’re also planning additional feature development with them.

The app allows for payment and debit cards. We provide rewards, and there are sections for debt, net worth, and help. There are various settings and screens to manage and configure all these features, including a home screen that lists all your transactions and provides links to other areas.

What is the team composition?

Initially, there were two developers and one part-time manager. Later, we cut it down to just the two developers.

How did you come to work with GeekyAnts?

A couple of our developers had worked with them, so we were familiar with their work. They were pretty popular with open-source contributions. We felt they could deliver.

We’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2020, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

More than 100,000 people have downloaded the app, and the iOS version will launch very soon. We’re expecting quite a few downloads there as well.

How did GeekyAnts perform from a project management standpoint?

We only use them for development, so we’ve provided them with the architecture, roadmap, and code review. We’ve added them to our Slack and given them our email addresses.

We communicate with them as if they’re part of our team, and we’re in contact on a daily basis.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of work is great. They’ve done a great job implementing the features. As an organization, they do open source and community management work, which I really like. Even though it’s not directly related to the work they do with us, it’s something that I admire about them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could reduce the costs a bit. Also, one of the initial developers wasn’t great. We had to switch, but since then,  it’s been great.

We had heard about Geekyants from colleagues & found good online reviews. The showcase of their previous work was also a good deciding factor. We had done a small POC & were content with it so moved to the actual development of the project.

We used Github Projects as the project management tool. We already had a list of requirements & added those to Github. We initially used Javascript & built only for iOS. We made good progress on the project. Our customers started using the 100ms React Native package soon. Integration was simple & we had Documentation & a Sample app for reference.

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided frequent updates. We had daily standups to discuss the progress. Most of the targets were delivered on time and we received ample warning if a deadline wasn't going to be met.

Their mobile app development skills are pretty good. They knew a lot about nitty-gritty of React Native. Their constant support & communication was very good.

We could have thought about making the SDK more resilient for different types of integration & sort of idiot-proofing so that any customer can easily integrate the 100ms React Native package without running into much trouble.

We should have planned better for automated testing for quality, but we did pretty well for such a small team.
