After we met about the design of our site, they provided us with templates on how our site looked like after they had place all of the items into our site. We did a lot of back and forth with comments and changes that we wanted on our site.

Foonkie Monkey was very thorough with our site. They implemented our design easily, and the overall look turned out much better than we anticipated.

Foonkie Monkey was easy to communicate with and provided us with frequent updates that we asked of them. A lot of our communicate was done through Teams as well as some video calls.

I was impressed by how quick they were to respond to the changes we asked for as well as for their skills to get the envision of our site.

We held multiple discovery meetings to discuss our goals, objectives, and product features. We provided their team with screens, designs, and examples of functionality. We wanted the app built in Flutter, which Foonkie Monkey was experienced in, and once the first set of functions was complete we began testing.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are still completing both the mobile app and web app, but Foonkie Monkey has stayed engaged the entire time, always available for group testing with our team and theirs.

Though we would have liked to have the end product sooner, they paid attention to detail to make sure everything was right before moving on to the next feature that was to be built.

The project manager was easy to communicate and always made himself available. We used Slack, Miro, and Google Suite products to communicate, which made things easier. As stated above, the only challenge we had was timing.

We wanted things done a bit sooner but we ran into some back end dev issues (losing a dev mid-project), but other than that it was extremely smooth.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their energy and passion for the project are always at a high level. Fantasy apps are not easy to build and they stayed engaged and communicated smoothly throughout.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only thing we could have wanted more of was speed of delivery. That said, any fantasy sports app is a beast to build and they did a great job.

They impress me with their excellent project management skills, professionalism, communications, kindness, and availability. They've always been keeping an excellent track of the project's progress and have been pushing us to meet deadlines — I'm delighted with them.

Their attention and customer care are outstanding. At the beginning of the project, they didn't even bill the hours needed to understand the project's scope and goals — they've shown their commitment and care to our business throughout the engagement.

The project is a work in progress, and we haven’t released anything yet. It’s too early to speak of anything quantitative at this point. However, I can say that FOONKIE MONKEY is the best vendor we’ve ever worked with. They’ve done a great job executing.  

How did FOONKIE MONKEY perform from a project management standpoint?

FOONKIE MONKEY’s work has been on budget. We’ve been a bit behind schedule, but they’re very accommodating and brought in additional developers to support the project.

Camilo is a good communicator and a charming guy — I can tell he’s passionate about the project. He’s very hands-on, and he whipped everything to shape. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

FOONKIE MONKEY’s communication is fantastic. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

FOONKIE MONKEY can improve on their scheduling; the project has taken longer than we wanted. That said, I know these projects always fall behind on time, so I don’t think it’s uniquely their problem.

What challenges were you trying to address with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We developed a mobile app but didn’t have a good experience with the company we worked with. Past vendors didn't seem to understand our needs as well as our customers' needs. As a result, those vendors had a different interpretation of our requirements, so they submitted deliverables that were very different from what we were expecting. As a result, we engaged with FOONKIE MONKEY to finish developing our app and fix the things we weren’t happy with.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

FOONKIE MONKEY continued to develop our Android and iOS app during the first phase. They then added features during the second phase.

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We did some online research and looked for companies based in Brazil, Colombia, and Chile, and we found FOONKIE MONKEY during this research. Their proposal was the one we liked the most because they offered exactly what we were looking for. More importantly, they were based in Colombia, which would make it easier for us to manage currency exchange and other administrative issues.

We spent $20,000 on the whole project. For the first phase, we spent $15,000. For the second phase, we spent around $4,000.

We started working with them in April 2021, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

FOONKIE MONKEY worked hard to ensure that our app functioned well and 95% of the time every change that they implemented was good. On top of that, they strived to meet our expectations. In that sense, we had a better experience with them than other agencies and developers we worked with.

How did FOONKIE MONKEY  perform from a project management standpoint?

FOONKIE MONKEY had a great methodology, and they were very organized. They used Azure as a project management tool. One of the things that made a great difference was the fact that they were able to get out of their programmer's mindset. As a result, they were able to listen and respond with a human sense, instead of just responding technically. Above all, their communications and involvement were very good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They proposed solutions and didn't simply respond to what we asked. Instead, FOONKIE MONKEY always provided us with the best and efficient options.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the beginning, we started using a prepaid method, and that didn’t work very well — particularly for our investors who were not young because they had a hard time understanding the processes.

What challenge were you trying to address with FOONKIE MONKEY?

I was looking to build out the API and a website, so I hired FOONKIE MONKEY.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

FOONKIE MONKEY did some documentation work to put together a framework that we could move forward with. Their backend developers then built our API using .NET. They also focused on the frontend and created static HTML webpages using 5ms graphics that work best for visually extractive sites. 

Among the technologies used were the full suite of AWS services including Cognito and Lambda, ASP.NET, and PostgreSQL. FOONKIE MONKEY also utilized DevOps tools such as Azure, Slack, and Sigma. For the API, we leveraged Iubenda, Jekyll and Redox.

What is the team composition?

We’re working with a product owner, Scrum Master, and software architect. There are also two backend developers, one frontend developer, a head UI/UX designer, and a QA specialist.

I interviewed up to ten different firms and read reviews on a variety of sites, including Clutch. I chose FOONKIE MONKEY because they are highly rated and had some experience working with big corporations that specialize in finance and healthcare. Those fields require a heightened degree of security, which aligned with what we were looking to do.

FOONKIE MONKEY delivered on time. There were no delays or cost overruns. I’m pretty pleased with them. We communicated through Google Meet, Slack, and email.

It’s very minor but it usually took them 2–3 days to make some of the changes I requested on the website.

I’m the owner of a company that created a mobile app intended to help people achieve financial freedom.

What challenge were you trying to address with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We wanted to develop a more unique and sustainable UI, so that our users feel more inclined to use the app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the project with an initial call to describe our requirements for the next stage, and what I wanted the app to look like. The next phase was for them to design a template for approval. Then, the final step would be for them to go through the development process, and have any changes approved — if changes aren’t approved, they can keep applying changes as necessary.

I provided them with the backend code, requirement documents, flowcharts of how I want the app to function, and examples of how I wanted the app to look. In addition, they conducted a discovery session on other apps that provide similar functionalities.

The purpose of the app is to allow users to partake in a ROSCA (Rotating Credits and Savings Association) group. A concept used in immigrant communities in South America, where a group of people get together and contribute money to a pool. Each month, one person gets a large pool of money, and they pay it off in those consecutive months.

The app is a cross-platform tool and it is built using Flutter. It’s also compatible with both the Android and iOS platforms.

We work with a team of five people that consists of a project manager, developers, and scrum master.

Off the top of my head, we’ve increased our production timeline by one month. FOONKIE MONKEY is an exceptional team that’s very detail-oriented, and they provide real expertise and knowledge in development. If we don’t know something, they’ll figure it out, they'll let us know, and provide us with a quote.

They do a decent amount of research that gives results — they’re just an honest team that does really good work.

How did FOONKIE MONKEY perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, they’re very professional. I can contact the developers when I need to, and the project manager gives me the timelines, updates, schedules, and all the meetings to make sure that every task is being monitored and recorded.

We typically communicate over email, Slack, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes them from other providers is the quality of their work and their commitment to the timeline.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have anything because they’re doing a pretty good job so far.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to do more research and make sure you know exactly what the end product looks like. Multiple iterations are going to be more work for them and more costly for you. Out of all the development companies I talked to, FOONKIE MONKEY gave the most honest quote and the best timeline, and they’ve proven their expertise.
