We started working with them in January 2020, and our collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the app hasn’t been launched yet, we can’t measure the results yet. However, for what we have seen so far, we are very happy with FOONKIE MONKEY’s work.

The team is very flexible. We asked for them to work using scrum methodologies and they adapted to that and have done a good job. We also used our own corporate solutions for project management and they’ve adapted very well, which has been good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their willingness to collaborate has been key to the development of the project.

No, I have no suggestions. So far, everything has been great.

What challenge were you trying to address with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We started with this project recently and the first thing we did was to develop a prototype in a platform and then we used it to start connecting with our prospective clients.

As we started connecting with them we realized how interested they were in the project and how important it was for us to develop an app as soon as possible.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At the moment, FOONKIE MONKEY is in the process of developing the MVP. We’re still in the initial process of brainstorming and finishing the wireframing, but we expect the project to have several phases. We know that as soon as we launch the app to the market there will be growth, changes and more requirements.

The team recommended the Azure stack for cloud development. However, these are just recommendations, we still have to choose which technologies we are using. The app will be developed both for iOS and Android.

We work with about eight teammates.

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We started looking for companies to help us out with the app development. As Latinos, we wanted to work with a Latin American company, preferably from Colombia. So, with that in mind, we started our search.

We did some online research and we found Clutch and other platforms where we chose the agencies that would be the best fit for us based on the reviews and price range. After meeting up with different companies, some of which were based in the US and India, we ended up choosing FOONKIE MONKEY.

So far, we’ve invested $50,000 in their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in February 2020 and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s still too early to have any metrics and to measure the impact of the app. However, their work so far has been excellent. They are very professional, have great customer service, and show a great deal of expertise in what they do. 

FOONKIE MONKEY has provided us with excellent advice. They are helping us create a great product, always providing useful insight on how to improve it. It’s been a wonderful experience.

How did FOONKIE MONKEY perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has been great. We use Slack to communicate and InVision for the project follow up. We also have meetings on Zoom and Google hangouts. Anything we ask for is always ready in less than a week. Usually, we are the ones who are behind. FOONKIE MONKEY keeps working according to the schedule we created and adjusting it accordingly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They do everything very well. They also gave us great ideas for UX, so we are extremely happy with everything they’ve done.

We partnered with FOONKIE MONKEY for a project in which the devices unit is creating a new ecosystem for apps.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team is working with us to bring new apps into our store, to contact them, and upload them into it. Additionally, they are making sure that all of these apps have our company’s integrated services. This means changing the app’s coding so their APIs integrate into our services.

We have our own operating system which hasn’t been launched yet, so, at the moment, we work with Android open source. However, we will soon launch our system and the developments will be based on it.

We work with three teammates.

We realized they had developed a lot of the apps that we didn’t have in our system, so we contacted them and recognized that they could get the work done.

We communicate mainly via phone, and they also send us weekly reports of their work. Additionally, we have monthly KPI requirements, and the team has complied with all of them.

We interviewed different companies from Colombia and found that FOONKIE MONKEY was exactly what we were looking for. They speak Spanish, and the company is based in Canada. We really wanted to grow in the Latin American market. We also wanted to have more units in Colombia, especially Bogota.

We communicate weekly over the phone, and we also use WhatsApp. It’s really easy to get in touch with them.

We haven’t had any inconveniences with them. We’re a growing company, and we haven’t finished working with them. We’re hoping to work with them for a long time.

We had always wanted to work with them, but we also wanted to do some research to learn more about costs, reach, quality, and more. We contacted about five companies in this process (three in Colombia, one in Mexico, and another one in Argentina). In the end, Foonkie Monkey was still the best option considering the cost-benefit of their services.

We started working on this project in June of 2019, and our collaboration continues.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are not able to evaluate the commercial success yet since the product will not be launched until November. But, in terms of the development of the projects, we’re gladly surprised by their organization and professionalism. 

In general, IT projects tend to last longer than originally planned. But, Foonkie Monkey has been extremely strict about respecting the deadlines. They have a great organization. They were able to understand our ideas really quickly and reflect those ideas in the project. 

How did Foonkie Monkey perform from a project management standpoint?

In general, their project management has been flawless. We shared all our documents via Google Drive and had meetings. All logistics and meeting plans went perfectly; they never changed or canceled a meeting. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Collaborating with them has provided us an opportunity to continue developing this technology and expand our field of action. On strategic terms, this has been extremely valuable.

We had weekly follow-up meetings, and then if something extraordinary came up, they would take care of it immediately. That meant that most deadlines were met; we didn’t have any significant delays.

What did you find most impressive about them?

All the deliverables were good, so we didn’t have to go back and work on anything again. The functionalities we asked for were all there—they understood all of our needs and were flexible and open-minded. They also were proactive, giving us even more than we asked for, which was important for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They met all deadlines, but some seemed tight because they probably have too many clients. It wasn’t too much of an issue as they gave us everything we needed.
