For what projects/services did your company hire FOONKIE MONKEY?

As a startup, we required an experience mobile development company to build our MVP and launch our product. We engaged with Foonkie Monkey to respond to our RFP, which they did in detail and outlining their approach to solving the implementation challenge. We require Foonkie Monkey to advise on the UX and UI of the app, build, test and implement the front-end activity.

Our goals for the project are;

1. Scope the initial scope of work of the app
2. Work with our design team to evaluate the UX and UI
3. Build the components of the app
4. Test the MVP
5. Deliver a fully working MVP in six months

How did you select FOONKIE MONKEY?

We sent our RFP to several mobile developers across the world to pitch their services for our project. Foonkie Monkey came back and were selected by us as the top two shortlisted.

We then had a meeting with Foonkie Monkey over zoom where they provided further insights into their experience and even spent time sharing ideas to further improve our product. Foonkie Monkey won the tender based on engagement, cost and their vested interest in making our app a success.

The project is ongoing and currently we're in the development stage. The project will be delivered as a hybrid app on both iOS and Android

What was the team composition?

We have been assigned a compotent team with a range of expertise. This includes a day to day project manager, UX and UI resources as well as a team of developers.

The CEO is always on hand for any questions we need and I like the approachable manner of the organisation. Rather than having to go through official lines all the time, the management takes a genuine interest in our success.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the moment, we're still in development so too early to say

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The wrokflow has been smooth to date. We agreed a day each week to have a stand up meeting, catch up and discuss any challenges. We have our backend team in Sri Lanka and our management are in Dubai and London. Considering all the time zones, we work well and communication is always available through Slack or via an impromtu call.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

So far I do feel FOONKIE MONKEY genuinely wants to see us succeed. We're not simply another account or project, but there is a synergy between ours and their success.

Equally, their competence so far has been verified. Of course we need the technical ability to launch our app, however it's a refreshing change to work with an organisation who have both these attributes.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Of course, there is always room for improvement with anything. They are happy to hear feedback and I'm sure in due course we will discuss anything further that they can do to improve the delivery of the app if needed.

I’m the project manager at Taxis libres, a taxi service. We have a mobile application that connects the attendant with the drivers.

We needed someone to develop our mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our mobile app for iOS. We already had one and they helped us to make a new service. They made a new UI/UX, so it’s like a new application, but we used the backend service we already had. They just did the frontend.

I worked with one developer.

We’re happy with the application. The application caused an increase in users because of the experience and insights it’s delivered. There haven’t been any problems with the application. We now have a 4-point rating. Before that, we had a 2.3 rating.

Communication with the developer was perfect. They worked in a scrum methodology. We were always in communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We plan to work with them again.

We are developing a social app focused on the health sector. It includes all of the features of a social network app, including chat, posting, and video broadcasting features.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FOONKIE MONKEY developed a native app for Android and iOS.

We work with around 5–6 teammates. 

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We were looking for service providers via web search when we found them. They were the best choice for this project because when it came to experience and cost-benefit, they were the ones that provided the best proposal.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent between $120,000–$180,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2020, and our collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the app hasn’t been launched yet, we can’t measure the results yet. However, for what we have seen so far, we are very happy with FOONKIE MONKEY’s work.

How did FOONKIE MONKEY perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is very flexible. We asked for them to work using scrum methodologies and they adapted to that and have done a good job. We also used our own corporate solutions for project management and they’ve adapted very well, which has been good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their willingness to collaborate has been key to the development of the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I have no suggestions. So far, everything has been great.

Merge-Tech is a social market place for minorities in the construction industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We started with this project recently and the first thing we did was to develop a prototype in a platform and then we used it to start connecting with our prospective clients.

As we started connecting with them we realized how interested they were in the project and how important it was for us to develop an app as soon as possible.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At the moment, FOONKIE MONKEY is in the process of developing the MVP. We’re still in the initial process of brainstorming and finishing the wireframing, but we expect the project to have several phases. We know that as soon as we launch the app to the market there will be growth, changes and more requirements.

The team recommended the Azure stack for cloud development. However, these are just recommendations, we still have to choose which technologies we are using. The app will be developed both for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

We work with about eight teammates.

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We started looking for companies to help us out with the app development. As Latinos, we wanted to work with a Latin American company, preferably from Colombia. So, with that in mind, we started our search.

We did some online research and we found Clutch and other platforms where we chose the agencies that would be the best fit for us based on the reviews and price range. After meeting up with different companies, some of which were based in the US and India, we ended up choosing FOONKIE MONKEY.

So far, we’ve invested $50,000 in their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in February 2020 and we’re still working with them.

It’s still too early to have any metrics and to measure the impact of the app. However, their work so far has been excellent. They are very professional, have great customer service, and show a great deal of expertise in what they do. 

FOONKIE MONKEY has provided us with excellent advice. They are helping us create a great product, always providing useful insight on how to improve it. It’s been a wonderful experience.

How did FOONKIE MONKEY perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication has been great. We use Slack to communicate and InVision for the project follow up. We also have meetings on Zoom and Google hangouts. Anything we ask for is always ready in less than a week. Usually, we are the ones who are behind. FOONKIE MONKEY keeps working according to the schedule we created and adjusting it accordingly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They do everything very well. They also gave us great ideas for UX, so we are extremely happy with everything they’ve done.

I am the business development lead at a global telecommunications company that has three business models: telecommunications, hardware and software development, and mobile devices.

We partnered with FOONKIE MONKEY for a project in which the devices unit is creating a new ecosystem for apps.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team is working with us to bring new apps into our store, to contact them, and upload them into it. Additionally, they are making sure that all of these apps have our company’s integrated services. This means changing the app’s coding so their APIs integrate into our services.

We have our own operating system which hasn’t been launched yet, so, at the moment, we work with Android open source. However, we will soon launch our system and the developments will be based on it.

What is the team composition?

We work with three teammates.

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We realized they had developed a lot of the apps that we didn’t have in our system, so we contacted them and recognized that they could get the work done.

The total cost is projected to be $500,000–$700,000.

We started working with them in October 2019 and our engagement is ongoing.

Their work is excellent. FOONKIE MONKEY works every day not only to meet our expectations but also to exceed them. They have been our main ally throughout this engagement.

We communicate mainly via phone, and they also send us weekly reports of their work. Additionally, we have monthly KPI requirements, and the team has complied with all of them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by their closeness and understanding of the market, as well as their knowledge of app development.

We had not changed our website in a while, and our company was growing. We needed a partner to redesign and restructure the website, along with our reservation, booking, and payment system.

FOONKIE MONKEY redesigned the whole website. They fixed all of the functionalities for our booking, reservation, and payment system. We just opened a new hotel, and they’re currently helping us to create that website.

Our main point of contact is Camilo (VP Technology Services, FOONKIE MONKEY), and he has two more people working with him.

How did you come to work with FOONKIE MONKEY?

We interviewed different companies from Colombia and found that FOONKIE MONKEY was exactly what we were looking for. They speak Spanish, and the company is based in Canada. We really wanted to grow in the Latin American market. We also wanted to have more units in Colombia, especially Bogota.

We started working together in September 2019, and it’s ongoing.

They’re a very responsive and responsible team. They have always been open to what we need, and they try to understand what we want. If they do something that we don’t agree with, they’re open to changing it. We’re really happy with their service.

We communicate weekly over the phone, and we also use WhatsApp. It’s really easy to get in touch with them. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We haven’t had any inconveniences with them. We’re a growing company, and we haven’t finished working with them. We’re hoping to work with them for a long time.

Everything is so smooth when we work with them. We strongly recommend them.

I work at a cultural organization in Colombia. We specialize in the production, administration, and programming of cultural and performance art events. 

One of our business lines is a management system for ticket sales. I am a partner and business manager at the company.

I am not an expert, so I am not aware of the technology tools they used.

We have worked directly with 5 people.

How did you come to work with Foonkie Monkey?

We had been planning to work with them for a while. They had been referred to us, so we knew about their good reputation and the quality of their services. So, we had a plan to work with them but didn’t manage to do it until this year. 

We had always wanted to work with them, but we also wanted to do some research to learn more about costs, reach, quality, and more. We contacted about five companies in this process (three in Colombia, one in Mexico, and another one in Argentina). In the end, Foonkie Monkey was still the best option considering the cost-benefit of their services.

We’ve invested between $60,000 to $80,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on this project in June of 2019, and our collaboration continues.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are not able to evaluate the commercial success yet since the product will not be launched until November. But, in terms of the development of the projects, we’re gladly surprised by their organization and professionalism. 

In general, IT projects tend to last longer than originally planned. But, Foonkie Monkey has been extremely strict about respecting the deadlines. They have a great organization. They were able to understand our ideas really quickly and reflect those ideas in the project. 

How did Foonkie Monkey perform from a project management standpoint?

In general, their project management has been flawless. We shared all our documents via Google Drive and had meetings. All logistics and meeting plans went perfectly; they never changed or canceled a meeting. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Collaborating with them has provided us an opportunity to continue developing this technology and expand our field of action. On strategic terms, this has been extremely valuable.

The project was successful, meeting all of our expectations. The solution has been quite well accepted by our final users, so it was a good collaboration overall.

How did Foonkie Monkey perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly follow-up meetings, and then if something extraordinary came up, they would take care of it immediately. That meant that most deadlines were met; we didn’t have any significant delays.

What did you find most impressive about them?

All the deliverables were good, so we didn’t have to go back and work on anything again. The functionalities we asked for were all there—they understood all of our needs and were flexible and open-minded. They also were proactive, giving us even more than we asked for, which was important for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They met all deadlines, but some seemed tight because they probably have too many clients. It wasn’t too much of an issue as they gave us everything we needed.

We did a benchmarking study with different suppliers in Colombia, and our technology manager chose FOONKIE MONKEY as the best option for this development.

The project isn’t finished yet, but the first phase of the project cost approximately $22,000–$25,000 USD.

We’ve been working with them for about three to three and a half years.

We had weekly meetings through Zoom, and we also had in-office meetings when needed. They have effective communication and great response times.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We didn't have much experience with Blockchain and Ethereum technologies, and they’re great at resolving all of our needs and leading us on this development. They’re great, even with the most complex themes.

As always, there are some things that can be improved, but we are working on them. They could improve on the testing of the apps and quality areas.
