What was the scope of their involvement? 

Unfortunately, I don't recall all the details as it's been several years since our initial engagement. The design and development process lasted approximately three months. We initially shared numerous ideas and submitted our text and photographs to Fat Cow Media.

We went through some iterations and had meetings to finalize our plans. They provided us with guidance and a lot of good advice throughout the development process.

The website features a helpful calendar where our team can input upcoming events. Additionally, there is a banner at the top that displays various advertisements scrolling across the screen. They also integrated our Twitter feed onto the website.

Although I wasn't involved in the initial development, I'm now the one who contacts Fat Cow Media for updates, and they're always responsive and quick. They finish updates within 24 hours.

We've discussed what we can do and how, and Fat Cow Media always gives good advice and offers options. We tell them what we're thinking, and if it's not possible, the team provides new ideas or different ways to do things.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fat Cow Media helped us with web design and development from scratch on WordPress. We started with an initial chat where we let them know what we wanted our site to look like, and they told us what they could do and gave some advice on things we should change and include. Consequently, we developed a plan on how long it’d take to complete the site and how much it’d cost. After that, they moved to the design stage, where they created the home page for the platform, showed it to us, and we provided them with our feedback and different ideas to adjust everything until we got what we wanted. Later on, Fat Cow Media’s team went away and built the rest of the platform themselves.

Their efforts also involved a slight alteration to our logo’s font and size. Later on, we spoke to them about ongoing SEO support because we wanted to increase the website’s organic traffic.

The website has home and contact pages, and a team page that includes all of our staff photos, which helps users identify us. The site also has synopses of all our current TV shows in production so others in the industry can see what we’re working on and determine if they want to work with us.

We primarily communicated through email — their team responded to my emails within an hour. I was very happy with their communication.

Fat Cow Media’s communication was their biggest strength — they went above and beyond for us. We gave them last-minute notice when we wanted to go live with the site, and they were away, but they still made it happen for us.

We received feedback about the clarity of our site. We wanted to rebrand the website and clarify what we do to visitors.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Fat Cow Media has completely rebuilt and redesigned our outdated website. We’ve gone through a major rebrand — it’s been all about a new design and messaging. We’ve also put our monthly newsletter up on the site, which we now update ourselves. People can subscribe to our newsletter through the website, and the site’s linked to our MailChimp database. Additionally, there’s a link to our Twitter account.

When we started, we had the messaging for the site in mind, which we needed to be simple. We put all the written content together and provided the pictures. A former colleague briefed them on how we wanted it to look.

They’re on call whenever we have issues or need to update anything. For example, we recently had problems putting in new people as our team doubled in size, and they helped us with that.

We’ve only interacted with one person. We’re not sure how many people are in the background.

A colleague that already left the company did the research. I believe they came to us through a recommendation, but I’m not 100% sure.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Over the years, Fat Cow Media has done such a great job for me that I keep using them. I can go elsewhere, but I choose to stick with them. Meanwhile, the websites have been functional. They load fast, which is crucial since I have huge graphics and photographs online. 

Overall, having their support has been great, especially for a small business owner like me who doesn’t have a lot of IT background. The team is also truly helpful when I ask for advice about what work to do; they give me the information I need and tell me whether they can or cannot help me. 

For example, I do SEO by myself, so when I want to change a website’s domain name, I ask them for advice on how such a change might impact the website’s SEO performance. Being a small business owner, I don’t have a large team behind me, so it’s great that they give me that nice, extra support. 

How did Fat Cow Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Fat Cow Media’s project management is great. My point of contact is easy to reach and prompt in responding to me. I’ve built a good relationship with that person over the course of our working engagement. If we have any problems, they fix them quickly — we have a quick turnaround time for everything.

Their communication skills and understanding of my goals are impressive. They also understand my brand and how it needs to look.

We felt our website was very dated as compared to our competitors. The website, which we set up ourselves via Wix, wasn’t properly selling the festival. We knew we had to bring in a professional.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handled front- and backend development of the new site. We started the engagement with a meeting where they gathered requirements for the site and set a project timeline and expectations. They were able to migrate some content from the old website but basically built the new WordPress site from scratch. We asked them to make sure the site would have an exciting feel and function properly on both desktop and mobile browsers. They set up the site backend so that it would be easy for us to change ourselves, but they also continue to manage updates and make sure the site is running smoothly. Their team has contributed design elements to the site as well.

We’ve worked together since March 2021. The site was delivered in time for a promotional TV spot we had, but they continue to provide support and maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before working with them, our site was attracting about 100 visitors a day and seeing an average visit duration of less than a minute. Now, the site sees 2000 organic visitors each day for an average duration of 2 minutes and 40 seconds. These increases are huge for us.

How did Fat Cow Media perform from a project management standpoint?

During the development phase, they were very clear about when they needed materials from us but remained flexible with the order of task completion so that we could meet our deadline. The project lead was good at emailing the right people to speed the development process along. We communicate via Zoom, email, phone calls, and WhatsApp. Their team is responsive, even outside of normal business hours. We launched the site two days earlier than expected.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their body of work is eye-catching and responsive. They delivered exactly what we wanted but still fit our budget.

Are there any areas they could improve?

With our tight timeline, they couldn’t have done much of anything differently. However, if we had more time during the development phase of the project, I would have appreciated them teaching us more about how to edit the site prior to its launch. We could have also potentially worked through more options for the site had we provided them with more time to work with us.

Get a list of example websites that you really like ready for them. Be ready with any assets or ideas you may have for your site.
