What challenge were you trying to address with DO OK?
We’ve had a student platform active for five years. We needed help with designing and implementing a platform to engage teachers.

What was the scope of their involvement?
DO OK developed our responsive web platform based on the sketches we provided. Teachers can use it to support students on their social projects.
What is the team composition?
DO OK assigned five frontend developers, a project manager, and an account manager, who was very close to this project and always open to talk.
How did you come to work with DO OK?
We sent a brief to many software houses, and we chose DO OK because of how well they understood our challenges from the first contact. They invested a lot of time in understanding our needs and prepared a tailored offer for us. They also shared the same values as us, which was important for me. I believe they shared our social mission since our first contact.

We spent $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with DO OK from June until September 2019. We’ve finished this project, but I’m sure we’ll collaborate again.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thanks to our collaboration with DO OK, we have a platform for students and teachers now and can scale our business and social impact. The platform is quite fresh, but we already have 500 registered Polish teachers. We have thousands of students working on their projects, and the platform we prepared with DO OK is working very well.
How did DO OK perform from a project management standpoint?
We had a very short period of time to do this project, but I was confident throughout the process because of DO OK’s high level of project management. The team was always engaged and self-disciplined. They’re professionals in agile workflows, which is what we used for this project.
I participated in the daily scrum meetings and received a report about their progress and our budget every week. Communication with all team members was great. If they had any doubts or questions, they always asked. We talked via Skype and Slack and always worked closely together.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I represent an NGO. To me, DO OK’s greatest strengths were their extreme professionalism and understanding of our social mission. It mattered to them that we were changing the world for the better. I felt we were one team with clear social goals.
I was also impressed by the fact that the developers were always looking for alternative solutions and applied less time-consuming solutions. As a client, it was important to me that they approach the project from my perspective.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I’m looking forward to working with them again.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to maintain communication and discuss the social impact of the project. DO OK cared about our communities. It wasn’t just about business.

The project consisted of developing interactive linguistic tasks for the eLearning course and integrating them with the online eLearning platform. DO OK is willing to undertake any challenge we might encounter in the project and provide full support. They take into account the needs of our organization and the purpose of the course. The web app was produced in short terms and fully relevant to the user story. The task was challenging, so the vendors we previously worked with either refused to attempt the project or could not deliver the product within the defined time limit.

What challenge were you trying to address with DO OK?
We needed extra help for two concurrent commercial projects, and we looked for a vendor who could provide senior development services and maintenance.

For both projects, I was in touch with their CEO. They found matching profiles within his crew and took responsibility for recruiting. He provided candidates to us, and we built a team within a week. All of their work involved frontend development, and then they provided the maintenance services we needed. They picked up open topics and answered calls.

Most of our interaction was with three developers and the CEO.
How did you come to work with DO OK?

They maintained a similar culture across both projects. They were consistent, and I knew what to expect in the second project. Their communication levels were very good, and their English was strong. We had a clear impression of who was responsible for what, and they were always very responsive. The team was very independent and agile and didn't need a lot of oversight.
How did DO OK perform from a project management standpoint?
Communication was very good. I never struggled to reach them. They were also very proficient. All their developers were very skilled, but also modest, almost to a fault.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were a team extension, but they treated the collaboration like it was their own project. All the developers we worked were consistent, and their skills fit the project well. They estimated the time of the engagement in each case. Estimations were very close to reality, they were professional, and their documentation was thorough. It will be easy to make any future changes.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We never came across any big issues. Their developers seem to live in different cities, but we appreciated their remote culture. If we were to hire them for paid programming or more complex projects, that might make things more difficult.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Agree on your timeline and the developers you want to work with. Their mid-level developers are fairly advanced, so their senior and mid-level members are all great to work with. If you need an architect or a highly involved team member, ask about their seniors.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the head of concept and innovation for a caregiver networking platform. We created a solution to help primary caregivers support sick individuals.

What challenge were you trying to address with dook.pro?
We were looking for a business and development partner that could develop a web and mobile application for our platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
dook.pro built the whole platform using the designs and wireframes we created; they also developed the backend. They built a native mobile application and a web application. It is a network solution, so a lot of people are connected to it.
They added some functionalities, such as a task calendar where caregivers can share tasks and distribute them to others. It facilitates communication and has a service platform where users can purchase services. dook.pro currently provides maintenance.
What is the team composition?
The number of members on the team has varied depending on the project stage. We've had a project lead throughout, as well as backend developers and developers for both iOS and Android.
How did you come to work with dook.pro?
Someone on our team found them.
How much have you invested in them?
We have invested between $200,000–$1 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
We've worked with them for quite some time. We began working with them in 2016, and the relationship is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The development has been quite stable, and we haven’t had many issues or much downtime. They're fast to react and good at helping with problems. The application’s heavy users are happy with it. The platform meets all their needs, which is helpful for them. We haven’t received any feedback about technical issues.
How did dook.pro perform from a project management standpoint?
The project management varies over time. We had problems at one point, but our new project lead does well. We communicate through Jira and Trello.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a good, solid project development team that unites many different competencies. They're thorough and have a lot of their processes worked out.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their agility could be stronger, but that has something to do with us being situated in different countries.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
We provide an expert-opinion aggregator focused on product reviews from newspapers, magazines, and so on. I'm the founder and CEO.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with dook.pro?
We had some technology in place, which was built by another company. We weren’t very happy with it, so we reached out to dook.pro to redevelop the entire platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have iOS and Android frontend applications, both of which were re-engineered and partly redesigned by dook.pro. They also restructured our backend, which is quite complex. They simplified it and put it together in a smart and forward-looking way.
We previously handled the content manually, but dook.pro developed a completely new concept that allowed us to skip that process. Everything is now 100% automated. It’s tremendously improved our scalability, both from a technical and a financial perspective, cutting out every manual step involved in handling the data.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with 6–7 members of their team, including Dmitrij (CEO, dook.pro) and a project manager, with whom I liaised quite a bit. We had one backend and two frontend engineers, and there were a couple of other people involved tangentially. I liaised less with those, but my CTO did so more.
How did you come to work with dook.pro?
My CTO had worked with them before, so he suggested that we should also use them for this project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent €50,000 [$58,023 USD] so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in late January 2018. They delivered the product last week and we've just gone live. We’ve put the next steps on hold for a couple of weeks, but we’ll pick up afterward. We have an extensive roadmap that we want to develop quickly, over the next weeks and months.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m extremely happy with dook.pro’s work. They picked up what I regarded as a complicated project—which the previous team couldn’t deliver—and delivered a product within five months or less. We’ve had a near-complete overhaul of all the technologies involved.
They had to familiarize themselves with some of the scraping technologies used. It was all done quickly and I was surprised by their ability to simplify the whole database and scraping structure on the backend.
My CTO was pleased that we now have just one database, one input/output API, and one scraping tool. Previously, these were all a mishmash of various tools. We had a complex infrastructure and we now have a very simple, straightforward one. In conclusion, if my CTO is happy, then I’m happy.
How did dook.pro perform from a project management standpoint?
They came up with appropriate tools depending on task's complexity, from Excel to a dedicated project management tool. They answer all our questions over Slack, and we can use the tool to bring everyone up-to-speed quickly. It’s worked very well.
The overall process of working with them was efficient. Every member of their team is very much up to their role. They provide assistance whenever we have a question or need feedback. My CTO handled much of the interaction, but I got involved in feature discussions, given that I’m the spiritual father of this project. They made constant suggestions, and never left open-ended questions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’ve used some specific backend technologies and I’ve been impressed by their ability to get up-to-speed with those. dook.pro was also capable of suggesting immediate improvements. They reached out to worldwide communities in order to find answers to the questions we had.
I’ve liked their eagerness and proactiveness on tacking the various issues we had, in terms of complexity and the previous team’s inability to deliver. dook.pro managed to deliver the product in five months, whereas we'd struggled with the previous team for a considerably longer time and for more money.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Not really. We had a not-so-pleasant experience with our previous team, but I’ve really liked dook.pro. They’re truly a team; if I address a question to the wrong person, I will immediately get contacted by the right one. I’m extremely happy with them and I’ve promised to bring them a cake the next time I’m there.
