I’m an investor in an e-commerce e-bike reselling business. We buy e-bikes, repair them, and sell them to the public.

What challenge were you trying to address with DevelopX?

We initially hired DevelopX to help us expand our business model.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, DevelopX was tasked to help us expand our e-commerce site. However, we discovered that we had more issues to address, so they’ve taken a much broader approach since then.

What is the team composition?

Our first point of contact was Konrad (Managing Partner), whom we talked to about our challenges. Since then, the project has been led by Armin (Partner), and he has a team working with him. This team has changed and augmented whenever there is a new challenge on the horizon.

How did you come to work with DevelopX?

I knew about DevelopX beforehand. When I saw the problem with this company, I thought that they could help.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around €840,000 (approximately $902,000 USD), but only €480,000 (approximately $515,000 USD) have been invoiced, and the rest has been paid to them in company shares.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. However, the project’s end date is in June 2022, but we might work on other projects and extend our collaboration.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

One of our most important success metrics is that our inventory turnover is now twice as fast as it was before engaging with DevelopX, helping us increase our yearly revenue by 2.2 times. Additionally, they’ve helped us hire 5–6 people for senior roles in our company, demonstrating that our business is expanding due to their involvement.

How did DevelopX perform from a project management standpoint?

Our initial engagement was supposed to be our only one, but we saw that Konrad understood our challenges immediately, and he was highly responsive when we needed to expand our business. They also worked on a fixed budget and delivered everything on time. Thus, when we saw new problems coming up, we kept working with them. Since then, they’ve kept doing an outstanding job.

We have a set call with DevelopX every fortnight for one and a half hours. However, if something comes up between calls, they quickly set up a video call to address the issues.

What did you find most impressive about them?

DevelopX is 150% committed to the project; they’re always there. Additionally, they’re highly responsive to changes and very proactive in addressing issues we haven’t even considered.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Hire them! They do a brilliant job, and they’re very committed and responsive to their client’s needs.

We used to have an in-house software development team, but we needed external support due to some team changes.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

DevelopX provides us with software development services. They’ve helped us develop a B2B solution for the internal use of our clients. They use Python for backend development and JavaScript for the frontend. The team also provides data science support using Python and Microsoft Power BI.

How did you come to work with DevelopX?

I found them through a referral.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent €500,000–€600,000 (approximately $540,000–$650,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around November 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

DevelopX has finished all the features and tools we've asked them to build, delivering them within our scrum planning. Additionally, the team is always looking for solutions. Our collaboration has worked so well that we’ve handed over all of our development projects to DevelopX.

How did DevelopX perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very punctual, and they answer quickly. We use GitHub, and although they usually use another tool internally, they adapted to using Microsoft Teams with us. We also communicate via emails and catch-up calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with DevelopX’s transparency. We can easily see where we are in the project and which tickets they resolve on which days. Many software development teams struggle with this aspect, so having transparency regarding progress and cost is great for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could broaden their tech stack. Although the team is quite good in the software they offer, we have more demand in terms of data science than they can help with, so they could broaden their expertise in this area.
