I am working as Associate Product Manager for MoveInSync Technology Solutions Private Limited

For what projects/services did your company hire DefragLabs ?

We had an uphill task of revamping one of our niche products that had been receiving lot of critical feedback for its look and feel. We knew we had to re-do the front-end and back-end of this product soon. We had enough resource any bandwidth for our back-end work but we were facing a challenge with respect to planning our front-end development.

What were your goals for this project?

We had to build a hyper configurable product that could cater to different client requirements without actually going back to coding. Since the requirements vary a lot from client to client in the industry we are working in, the product had to be such that any future customisation that client wants do not have to be challenging. This meant everything that we saw on the web page had to be made configurable in terms of visibility, label, appearance, UI elements.

How did you select this vendor?

Defraglabs were recommended to us by alum network of the cofounders of MoveInSync. There were several other vendors that we considered but most of them were disqualified based on the low industry experience or limited understanding of the configuration that we were envisioning in the product.

Because product customisation as per client requirement was such a high priority for us, we wanted to partner with someone who would not just know how such customisation could be implemented but also understand why it was required. Defraglabs brought in that experience and understanding.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They developed the front-end for our product and helped us in designing configurations for every module that they worked on. The project began with the discussion of the wireframes, mockups and UX designs. We identified the missing pieces and back-end dependencies.

Back-end work (which we were doing in-house) began 2 weeks before we started with front-end development to get a head start on the back-end APIs.The engagement began in the form of 2 week sprint with weekly demos to senior product manager and engineering manager.

This was an outsourcing arrangement so the team came in for f2f demos every Monday. These meetings helped us identify back-end dependencies for the coming weeks and discuss on improvements based on the feedback from senior stakeholders.

What was the team composition?

The project team had 2 front-end developers.The project lead assigned to this project (one of the front end developers) was our direct and permanent point of contact in Defraglabs. We had daily stand ups on phone.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our product was developed with agility and we did a limited launch to one of our clients while we were still developing the rest of it. We received a lot of good feedback on the look n feel of the product with minimal production downtime which garnered a lot of praise among senior stakeholders within MoveInSync.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated over Basecamp which was very efficiently used to manage all communications and data sharing. We had weekly f2f meetings. MOM was published by them post every such meeting with ToDos assigned to the relevant team member. This helped us keep track of dependencies and expected delivery/resolution dates.

This also helped us record the requirements shared/discussed which was extremely helpful if we had to go back to discussed points during moments of ambiguity. Project management was managed very effectively. The team regularly complied with deadlines and communicated delays well ahead of time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They brought in the desired level of ownership and professionalism which is hard to find. We discussed issues openly without hesitation and were extremely satisfied with their promptness and diligence with which they approached the entire engagement with us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

In terms of work/deliverable, we hardly have any suggestions for improvement.

I’m the director of Scientist Technologies, an AI consulting and algorithm development company.

We needed to develop an application framework to hold an AI algorithm. This would help train our model and push predictions out to users in real-time.

What were your goals for this project?

The application should scale when data inputs spike, and we wanted to be able to modify our algorithm without reworking the entire framework.

A mutual friend connected me to Defrag’s founder. His team had the necessary skills and seemed eager to get work. They developed a plan quickly and were enthusiastic about delivering on-time.

After developing an understanding of our business problem, they converted it into a set of technology requirements. They utilized the latest technologies, which ensures we’re prepared for the future, and delivered quickly.

I worked with 2–3 developers, as well as a team lead.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

There were no problems with the application. Originally, we were building separate applications for every algorithm, but Defrag’s general purpose framework made that unnecessary. It made the rest of the project much easier for us.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They managed the project professionally and respected our timelines. They even worked extra hours to deliver on time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They delivered rapidly, using the latest tech.

Are there any areas for improvement?

They’re a great team, but they could have more senior leads, architects, and VPs. This would position them alongside the best IT companies in the industry.

I’m the head of the omnichannel and customer engagement space at Future Retail. We’re a retailer with multiple concept stores.

We needed to enrich customer data from 3rd-party sources.

What were your goals for this project?

We set out to hit a 95% customer match rate and 90% accuracy.

We went through an RFP process.

We initially ran a trial for two weeks as part of one of our campaigns. After seeing good results, we engaged them continually to build our customer data platform.

We worked with a project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our marketing campaigns have become 10 times more effective thanks to Defrag Labs.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They were quite accommodating of last-minute changes.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a young team that’s passionate about customer success and understanding business objectives. They truly walked in our shoes.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, not that I saw. They’re truly great.
