I am the Executive Managing Director of Smart Ballots LLC, a Wyoming company that has created a voter / ballot system to restore faith and integrity in our elections. This is a blockchain-based, quantum computer secure and tamper-proof voting software that can be used for national, state, and local elections.

Our system will eliminate election fraud such as dead people voting, non-citizens voting, duplicate ballots, plus provides an immutable audit trail and "same day" election results. A brief overview can be viewed at https://www.smartballots.us

For what projects/services did your company hire CyberOptik?

We wanted a multi-page highly graphical web site to convey the concept of Smart Ballots and how voting / ballot systems can benefit using blockchain technology. CyberOptik guided us through the design phase, including development of a new logo. They created a robust design for the web site including several photos, multiple page designs, and made good suggestions on content.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had used CyberOptik previously to develop a web site for a crypto / digital currency firm which can be viewed at www.precharge.com The web site has significant graphics, photos, and embedded links, and CyberOptik provided many suggestions and completed the project on time and within budget.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We set up an initial discovery call after I provided CyberOptik with a lengthy overview of what we had in mind for the Smart Ballots website. Early in the project CyberOptik gave us many reasons why we should create our logo from scratch versus using commercially available artwork. It turned out their suggestion gave us a much better "look & feel" for the website. Periodic updates were provided to us with edits to verbiage being made quickly on the "test site".

There were several rounds of revisions for the content, much of which was due to our development team creating new features / benefits to our product. Smart Ballots decided to also have CyberOptik manage web site hosting, set up Google Analytics, etc. The sent was live within 48 hours of our final approval.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Based on the high quality of the Smart Ballots web site we have been approached by several prospective clients looking to upgrade their voting/ballot systems. Plus two venture capital firms have reached out to explore the possibility of investing significant funding to ramp up sales and marketing efforts to capture market share quickly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was frequent and easy due to the CyberOptik team sending frequent updates on the progress of the website development.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

CyberOptik provided many innovative ideas for the design concepts, and more importantly guided us away from costly and time-consuming "bright ideas" the Smart Ballots owners thought of for inclusion on the site.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really, both projects were completed on time and within budget and were of greater impact due to the designs they developed for us. I would l recommend them to anyone for website development and the other services they offer (i.e. site hosting, etc.).

During the initial refresh just over 5 years ago, we compared CyberOptik's proposal to the proposal of our original web design firm. The selection of CyberOptik was essentially a no-brainer based upon CyberOptik's completed project portfolio and the value for the dollar presented to us. CyberOptik listened to our needs and goals and crafted a custom, cost-effective proposal vs the over-priced one-size-fits-all proposal we received from our original design firm that contained features and functionality we didn't need.

CyberOptik guided us through all steps of the process including the initial questionnaire, proposed site structure and functionality, proposed template designs and revisions, image/animation selection, and final website publishing. Cyberoptik handled the design, hosting, and implementation/launch of the new website. CyberOptik also included post-launch training for our team for site content management.

We worked with a dedicated point-of-contact for the project who is currently the Marketing Director at CyberOptik. Communication was smooth and responsive throughout the entire project and post-launch support has been superb for years.

Cyberoptik handled both the design and implementation of the new website. The process was very smooth throughout. We have received positive feedback both internally from employees and from clients.

I’m the principal and one of the founders of Aquamoon, an aquarium management company. We provide professional aquarium management services for the private sector. Our company serves retail locations, offices, hospitals, private residences, and anywhere else with an aquarium. We believe that aquariums are a window to nature and an opportunity to connect people with nature in meaningful ways. As a result, they deserve professional care.

What challenge were you trying to address with CyberOptik?

We initially approached CyberOptik to reinvent our website. At that time, we were pivoting away from design and installation projects to professional management and operation.

What was the scope of their involvement?

As we were moving away from design and installation components, we needed customers to know who we were. With that goal in mind, CyberOptik worked to help us not only with the technical aspects of our website but also with its content development aspects. Ron (Principal & Marketing Director) partnered with us in creating the content and layout of the website while also delivering its technical needs. 

Our engagement with CyberOptik has since evolved, and they’ve become our one-stop digital service provider. At present, they still work on our website for any content changes, such as when we’ve had to change our messaging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If there are new staff members that we want to add to our About page, they work on it. 

On top of that, we’ve also partnered with CyberOptik for our marketing campaigns. The team helps us with our SEO and PPC campaigns that target various geographic areas. For context, we operate in 20 markets throughout the US, although our headquarters is in Chicago. Moreover, CyberOptik does graphic design work for us. We’ve made iterations to our logo over the years, and they’ve developed digital graphics for those iterations. The team has also implemented those designs into our webpage, letterhead, business cards, and other assets.

Further, CyberOptik has begun the development of our remote data capturing system. Since our business and teams are spread out throughout the country, we rely on our technicians to collect, interpret, and communicate data to important parties like the customers and managers. The data capturing system is going to help us do those things more efficiently, and we’ll soon go into its beta testing phase.

We’ve worked with 2–3 people from their team. Ron serves as the project lead and process observer of the engagement. A content writer also works with us, along with a backend developer. 

How did you come to work with CyberOptik?

We chose CyberOptik versus others because of their customer service. As someone without much technical knowledge, I needed to rely on a company that could provide such a service for us. Given that, Ron did an excellent job of making me feel comfortable in the process. He could speak in layman’s terms, distilling the process down to consumable bites for me. 

Moreover, he was attentive and extremely responsive to my questions. In fact, he even came to our office and had several meetings with us. Ultimately, we decided that if that was how they represented themselves, they’d be a great partner for us, so we hired them.

We’ve invested between $5,000–$10,000 a year for the last five years.

We started working with them in May 2016, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

While it’s difficult to measure exactly how the website has impacted our business, we do receive plenty of compliments for it. The feedback comes from our colleagues and customers. In fact, one of the things that attract people to our company is the way we present ourselves on the website. Although these metrics are intangible, I have a strong opinion about the work that CyberOptik has done for us: it’s been incredibly positive for our business. Our PPC campaigns have also grown as our relationship with CyberOptik has evolved, and we want to continue investing in them.

How did CyberOptik perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate primarily through email; we receive emails from the CyberOptik team periodically about various subjects. In terms of our PPC campaigns, we receive a report every month that shows us the metrics behind our efforts. Moreover, if we’re working on a special project like the data capturing system, we communicate directly with the developer, who emails us progress reports on a regular basis. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Being in the service business as a company, we value customer service. Given that, we’ve been impressed with CyberOptiks’ customer service quality. Even as they’ve grown over the years, I’ve always appreciated that I can pick up the phone and call Ron any time. If I want to discuss issues or anything that needs specific attention, I have a straight line to him — that’s highly comforting. Overall, they do fantastic work in terms of our technical and visual needs, but their customer service is their most impressive quality.

No, there aren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you work with CyberOptik, you’ve made a great choice — the sky’s the limit. The better you articulate your needs, the better the product is going to be. For our engagement, we’ve only been limited by what we can do by ourselves, and CyberOptik has been our gateway to doing everything we want to do. For us, it’s only been a matter of articulating those needs and coming up with the funds to do them.

CyberOptik’s work has been a perfect 10. We haven’t officially launched the website to our clients, so we don’t have a magnitude of feedback for it. However, those who have seen it have highly complimented it.

Their project management has been fantastic. Warren serves as our project manager, and he’s been thorough and detailed. Moreover, I’m not a technological whiz by any means, so he boils everything down to my terms — that’s been truly helpful.

Be proactive and follow up on where the project stands from a timeline standpoint. In our engagement, I somewhat let everything go throughout the process; if I could’ve been more proactive, we could’ve saved some more time.

We had an existing website but the photos were not professional and the website was not organized or presented in the way that I wanted it to be. I hired Cyber Optik to start fresh with a new website, layout, photos, content and design. I hired them to manage our WordPress hosting, care plan and Termageddon License.

I hired them based on viewing other websites that they designed, the personality of Ron Johnson in terms of his professionalism and knowledge as well as his patience with a very picky, non-tech-savvy Interior Designer!

Ron's team at Cyber Optik took the time to go over step by step with me how to design my website in terms of page tabs, photo and content layout. First, we selected tabs for each with sub-categories, then we collaborated together with photo layout, content, and aesthetics such as logo design, adding my blog, social media links, and newsletter sign-up add-on. They described how to make it compatible with cell phone use and how to optimize viewers using google and search terms.

Ron oversaw the project and I believe I worked with 2-3 other designers who helped with photos, layout and content.

Since my new website was launched 2 1/2 years ago, I have definitely noticed many calls from potential clients who found me through search engines which directed them to my website. I have had numerous compliments on my site as well!

The process has been extremely smooth and I use the team frequently to add photos to my site. The turnaround time for this process has typically been one day and done with perfection.

Initially, we sat down and talked about my ideas. I had an image in my head, but I didn’t know how to describe it, so I just drew out what I was thinking. I showed it to CyberOptik, and they were able to turn that vision into reality. Since then, our website has had a lot of different phases. Sometimes they send me an email with ideas for the site, and most of the time, their ideas are great. Also, the team goes through the stuff we run past them, and they try to make it happen.

We use WordPress because we wanted to keep it easy. They’ve suggested improving our calls to action and done SEO, PPC, and many of those marketing aspects.

We’ve worked a lot with Ron (Website Expert, Principal & Marketing Director) and Warren (Creative Director). We’ve also worked with some of the other employees, but we always go o them right away whenever there is an idea or concept.

How did you come to work with CyberOptik?

The website was a disaster, so I posted on LinkedIn if anybody knew a good and trustworthy web designer. Somebody that had worked with CyberOptik recommended Ron. He was also an alumnus from Amherst College, so that was an immediate big plus for me.

Moreover, he had a great vision, and I felt he understood where we wanted to take this. We didn’t want to do it all at once, so we started with a small budget. They respected that and were willing to go at our speed.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2016, and we still work hand-in-hand on many projects. It began as a website rebuild, but it ended up in so many other assets.

The site is user-friendly; it’s not a cookie-cutter website. They’ve nailed it and given us a unique site. Throughout the years, we’ve gotten a lot of traffic and great clicks. People come to our website, and without CyberOptik we wouldn’t be as successful.

Also, we’ve had people at conferences tell us that the website looks very sleek and nice. I recommended CyberOptik to someone, and they’ve said that they’ve done a great job. Overall, I feel good because I know I did the right thing for the company by going with them. You can always look back in your job and question if you did the right thing, but I’ve never questioned the partnership with CyberOptik.

How did CyberOptik perform from a project management standpoint?

When I ask them to do something with a quick turnaround, they do it. They’ve met all the deadlines and are always timely and prompt. We can email them at any time, and they’re always quick to respond.

Whenever we need to hop on a call, we use Zoom. Also, they’re good to respond to emails, so we can’t ask for anything more.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They never push to make a buck. CyberOptik really cares about putting out good quality work, and I respect that because many people don’t.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think they could’ve done anything differently. We might have had some minor setbacks, but I think everything we’ve done has succeeded thanks to a lot of hard work and back and forth communication.

Give them a chance. Let them show you how great they are. I’m glad we decided to go with them; it’s been a good partnership.

A lot of my digital marketing had been done through LinkedIn, but I needed to improve my web presence. I had a GoDaddy website that was not very professional.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted a website where customers could learn about my company and the services we offer.

What was the scope of their involvement?

CyberOptik provides my company with web design services. I had a particular look and feel I wanted for the website — I wanted to keep the maps and graphics I had of the Earth at night to tie into the global scope of my company. I gave them the information and pages I wanted to include on the website, including a title, about me, and services pages. 

After I provided my requirements, the CyberOptik team developed the website. They built our entire website in WordPress and made sure my team would be able to make changes after it was launched.

We’ve expanded the scope of work to include services for a nonprofit where I am the president and CEO. We’re switching to a new web designer and will use CyberOptik for their services, and they already host our website.

I’ve invested only a few thousand dollars, but that’s because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the project.

So far, they’ve met my goals and helped me elevate my company into an industry expert from only being part of a consulting machine.

I know that we’ve reached the industry expert status because I’m now meeting more CEOs and my company has accomplished a lot over the last few years. While there are a lot of other factors that have led to my recent successes, the new website has been essential. 

How did CyberOptik perform from a project management standpoint?

The CyberOptik team performs excellently in terms of the budget and the deliverables schedule. We’ll agree on a project and we’ve always had clearly defined deliverables and expectations that aligned with the price of their services. There is never ambiguity about the work. 

I efficiently communicate with Ron via email or text. Sometimes, I call and leave a voicemail. When we need to work more on the creative side of the website development, we communicate over the phone and follow up with documentation.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

I receive a very valuable consultative service for a reasonable price. The product is exactly what I want and isn’t overkill for my company’s size. The great thing about CyberOptik is that I’m not spending a large amount of money with them, but I’m being treated with the same level of service as if I was a large client. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing negative to say about their services. Whenever I reach out to them, they respond quickly and I love the service I get from them. 

It would be nice if they offered more copywriting services, but I haven’t inquired about those services yet. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Customers shouldn’t hesitate to ask for what they need — CyberOptik is focused on delivering what a client needs, and if they don’t have it, they’ll steer customers in the direction they need to go.
