I am the executive director of the Stroke Awareness Foundation in Santa Clara Country. We support the stroke centers at our local hospitals and educate the community on stroke awareness.

What challenge were you trying to address with Core Mobile App Development?

We brought in Core Mobile to update our foundation’s existing stroke awareness app. We wanted to improve its functionality and add a few advanced features.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Core Mobile renovated our existing platform to match current iOS and Android mobile compatibility requirements and added multiple new tools. They used data generated from a medical accreditation agency to establish a working geo-location function for our map of nearby stroke centers. The team programmed our emergency contact feature, which permits in-app 911 calls and then notifies three predetermined contacts. Core Mobile added a feedback tool that allows a user to directly contact us with any platform issues.

Their team quickly made any necessary bug fixes after the app launched. They are currently working on improving user experience for older generations by developing a clean interface with explicit directions to simplify in-app interactions.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app’s increased level of functionality and usability boosted our download numbers. We reached 50-100 users in the Santa Clara County area and recorded at least 500 emergency calls since the launch. We are able to use engagement data to track the progress of our local outreach efforts and target our ads to specific markets. The platform’s design and performance received excellent feedback from friends in the industry.

two years ago the app was an idea in my brain.  And today we are launching the app and people who work with the communities we serve are thrilled with what has been produced.  It is easy to use, takes up little data and is free!  We believe it is going to be a game changer for many our population of clients that we serve.

They responded well to our need.  We specifically chose a company that was run by people of color and folks who we knew would understand our mission.  They did not disappoint and were very committed to our project.  The project manager was very responsive, understanding and worked extrememly well with us.  The project took longer than we expected as the app store and google play changed their parameters for acceptance, but its a bit like giving birth... the pain is awful at the time, but when the baby is born, it is all forgotten!

Each step was an outcome that measured progress. From the completion of the design and discovery phase, to the game actually being available on iOS and Android. Every step, phone call, texts, email, and Zoom that got INKY to reach this level of success is all attributed to the team at Core Media Concepts.

Everything we desired is written into a statement of work that we went over together prior to signing the terms. Lastly, Mr. Deku is a visionary. If you can’t easily explain your idea, he will help you craft a the concept in ways you could not have considered on your own. He’s blessed man.

I mainly worked with Will (President) and Michael (Former Senior Product Manager), who was my main point of contact. Additionally, I worked closely with one of Core Mobile App’s designers.

During research online looking for a mobile app developer, I found Core Mobile App. Based on what I saw, I felt they would be the right fit for us. We’ve received very positive feedback on our app from people telling us that it looks extremely professional. Core Mobile App used my logo and positioned it beautifully in the app; some people have even told me that mine is the best-looking app on their phones.

In addition to its great design, the app is very easy to use. After the beta testing, Core Mobile App was very accommodating to the requested changes to make this happen, and we didn’t have too many overcharges for the things that fell outside of the original scope.

How did Core Mobile App Development perform from a project management standpoint?

I would evaluate Core Mobile App’s project management as a solid B+. They were very good at keeping the project on track with the agreed timeline, and ultimately, they kept their commitment to delivering what they promised when they promised it. We communicated via Zoom meetings, emails, and the platform they used for the designs, on which I could post comments.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Core Mobile App’s strength is that they can build engineering-based apps instead of just basic apps. My app required a complex logic built into it, so they ensured to understand that complexity and delivered what I wanted.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The hand-off process was a bit unclear, so I would’ve liked it if Core Mobile App was more of a hand-holding partner during the ending phase. However, despite the time and logistics differences between their team members and me, we got through it. As for project management, I would recommend they establish key meetings pertaining to the project’s milestones upfront. This way, clients can have more visibility into the project’s important dates and also have the opportunity to discuss those milestones.

Core’s project management was great. They were prompt and communicative, and they didn’t exceed our budget. To communicate, we used emails.

They were better than other providers. Unlike Core, other teams weren’t specific on how long it would take for them to finish the website. They also weren’t sure whether they could customize the site the way we wanted. On top of that, those teams’ pricing was way higher than Core's.

Nothing! The team at Core Media was a pleasure to work with. I will be recommending them to my family and friends and we will be using their services in the future.
