The project was a mashup of several components including business directory, e-wallet, advertising, interest groups and several other bundled third party services. All of this was rolled into a geo-spatially aware environment that allowed users to interact within the local community and street level.

What was the team composition?

We interacted directly with Fahad as the team leader and technical contact. He organized his fellow developers and made sure that our architectural, technical and user requirements were adhered to throughout the project. He also made several suggestions on improvements for the system which would benefit our users and devops teams.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The portion of the application that CodesOrbit was responsible for was developed according to specification, cost and timelines. Our product development team decided to continue with additional features beyond the scope of the original project and decided to recruit in-house developers.

The project is still being developed but CodesOrbit's contribution was significant and brought us closer to our end-goal.

We had daily interaction with the team and were very pleased with interaction across the board.

Their desire to assist on a technical and user experience level was invaluable. In addition their recommendations on standards adherence for UI development and API integration were significant.

Phone Skope is a company dedicated to offering products to our users to get the most out of their outdoor and wildlife viewing and photography. We offer a hard good that attaches to any optic to enhance the ability to use your mobile phone to take pictures at a distance. We are creating an app that recognizes the phone's camera is being used through an optic, therefore increasing the quality of the photos and videos captured. I am the administrations manager. I oversee several projects throughout the company, mainly app and software development and marketing, as well as fulfilling several HR management roles.

We hired CodesOrbit to build us a camera app and editor app that would be used hand in hand with our current hardware. It would work flawlessly with the mobile phone camera as well as the optic the camera is taking photos through.

To have working apps that help build loyalty and confidence in Phone Skope as a company and brand. With a successful pairing of the software to our hardware, we are ensuring the user is getting the most bang for their buck.

We searched online in the past and had some contact with them and chose to go in a different direction. When that direction didn't work out, we returned to a company that was bigger and better than ever and they have been fabulous to work with ever since.

We reached out to CodesOrbit to develop a camera app as well as an editing app to be used on mobile phones that are taking pictures through an optic. We need the camera app to recognize the phone is being used with an optic and compensate on several levels to achieve the highest quality photos and videos. The editor app will take those photos/videos and allow the user to enhance their images and share them on whatever platform they choose.

What was the team composition?

CodesOrbit has a dedicated team of, I believe, six people, currently working on and maintaining our camera and editor apps. They will grow as needed for future projects. There are developers that specialize in Android, iOS, team leads, graphic designers, etc, all working together on our project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have only recently released the app onto the Apple Store and will be releasing the Android version soon, after a couple of updates. However, all of our beta testing and practice with our team and a few testers has gone very well and the product holds. We are very confident in this team and it's abilities to produce the kind of product we want and need to keep up our brand reputation.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

CodeOrbit has exceeded our expectations as far as communication and workflow are concerned. We have weekly meetings and they are organized and efficient. I would say one of my favorite companies I have ever worked for, because to me, this is the most important part of this kind of working relationship.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are dedicated to being the best in their field and it shows. They take our requests very seriously and have delivered time and time again on all fronts. I honestly can't think of anything that doesn't impress me.

We are a software company and consultancy, and we offer web apps or standalone software as a service. We also do some custom IT and software development for different organizations. I am the owner.

What challenge were you trying to address with CodesOrbit?

We hired them first for load-testing on a website that we were about to launch. The second project was custom language localization from English to French for a Java-based software that was built using very old technology.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first project that they were involved with was just testing a web application. They set up test scripts and ran it on what we had developed, which helped us to determine where we were and what needed to be improved, as well as if there were any structural vulnerabilities in our web architecture.

The second project was a little more in depth; the challenge with that one was that the code labels were in English and needed to be translated to French. The code was very old, so there was very little documentation, but they were able to reverse engineer the code to find where all the dynamic content was being generated and work from there.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with the owner and one of his assigned Java programmers.

How did you come to work with CodesOrbit?

I’ve been in contact with their company for a while and tend to reach out to them with some of my more difficult technical questions. They always provide me with good advice, so I felt that they would be good resources to have on these projects as well.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $6,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

The first project lasted for about a month at the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016, and the more recent one ran from June–September 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The amount of time we have saved through the engagement is tremendous. I can’t say we generated more money as a result, but we definitely saved a lot, and in the case of the second project, were able to deliver for our customers as a result.

Their work is always extremely functional and reliable, and they are very upfront about what they can and cannot take on. I trust them to complete any task that I give them because of the consistency with which they deliver.

How did CodesOrbit perform from a project management standpoint?

They don’t report the details of their milestone progress as much as I might like them to, but it doesn’t end up being a problem because they are so reliable in delivering the major milestones on time. We communicate primarily through Skype and use email and excel to keep track of progress. I’ve never known them to miss an important deadline.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their approach to solving problems is incredibly resourceful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Having them in a similar time zone would be helpful, obviously, but in terms of things that are within their power to change, I don’t have any real critiques.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should be very clear on what you need to get done and should have someone who understands technical aspects because both of those things will help you to manage and keep track of the project much more easily.

CodesOrbit developed both a web app and mobile app e-commerce solution. They led back- and frontend development in Vue.js with PHP for the web app. The mobile app was developed for both Android and iOS. They also created wireframes and designed screens, as well as doing testing and quality assurance.

CodesOrbit built two versions of the app: one for photographers, and one for clients. The photographer version has to link with the client version immediately after a photo is captured, sending the picture to the client. The team had to make sure the process happens in real time with minimal delay. They also provided UI/UX designs of each version.
